Rumors are again swirling of an impending false flag chemical weapons attack in Syria, just as they did shortly before the highly suspicious Douma case in April. Warnings from Syrian and Russian intelligence, as well as US war ship movements and an uptick in US funding for the Al Qaeda propaganda firm known as the White Helmets, give these warnings a fair bit of weight. Since the US war machine has both a known regime change agenda in Syria and an extensive history of using liespropaganda and false flags to justify military interventionism, there’s no legitimate reason to give it the benefit of the doubt on this one. These warnings are worth taking seriously.

So some people are understandably nervous. The way things are set up now, it is technically possible for the jihadist factions inside Syria and their allied imperialist intelligence and defense agencies to keep targeting civilians with chemical weapons and blaming the Assad government for them until they pull one off that is so outrageous that it enables the mass media to manufacture public support for a full-scale assault on Damascus. This would benefit both the US-centralized empire which has been plotting regime change in Syria for decades and the violent Islamist extremists who seek control of the region. It also creates the very real probability of a direct military confrontation with Syria’s allies, including Russia.

But the appropriate response to the threat of a world war erupting in Syria is not really fear, if you think about it. The most appropriate response to this would be unmitigated, howling rage at the western sociopaths who created this situation in the first place.

The United States and its allies started the war in Syria. The narrative that it was an organic uprising brutally attacked by the Assad government is a lie. There is no reasonable doubt about this. The former Prime Minister of Qatar said on television that the US and its allies were involved in the Syrian conflict from the very beginning. A WikiLeaks cable and a declassified CIA memo both show the US government plotting to provoke an uprising in Syria exactly as it occurred, years before it happened. Former Foreign Minister of France Roland Dumas stated that he was informed that the UK was engineering an uprising in Syria two years before the violence erupted in 2011, and General Wesley Clark stated that there were Pentagon plans to take out the Syrian government in 2001. Shortly after the violence started President Obama secretly authorized the arming and training of violent extremist factions for the overthrow of Assad in a CIA program code named Timber Sycamore, which along with Saudi finances has wound up aiding some of the most evil terror groups ever to exist.

Six hundred thousand Syrians have lost their lives as a result of this regime change intervention, many of those lives ending in the most horrific ways imaginable at the hands of depraved jihadists. It was planned, and the people who planned it have names and addresses. They deserve to be punished to the fullest extent of the law for what they did. We should all be loudly demanding war crimes tribunals and life imprisonment for these vicious criminals.

We need a major adjustment of our emotional posture on this issue. We shouldn’t be sitting around nervously hoping Trump pulls US troops out and western-backed terror groups don’t stage another chemical attack, we should be screaming at these bastards to get their murderous tentacles out of that poor war-torn country immediately. We shouldn’t be meekly trying to justify our skepticism of the establishment Syria narrative while snide Guardian op-eds inform us that we are not permitted to think such things. We know that we are right. We know what these evil monsters did. We should be shouting the imperialists down, not the other way around.

The same depraved sociopaths who raped Iraq are presently raping Iraq’s next-door neighbor Syria for the exact same reasons. They were wrong then. They are wrong now. We should be much more angry and aggressive in pushing back on their pernicious pro-interventionism narratives. There is no excuse for any faction of the western empire to be anywhere inside of that nation’s borders. Out. Now.

Much like medicine, anger can do more harm than good when used improperly. Channeled in a wholesome, conscious direction, however, it can be an indispensable tool for driving out the toxic influence of manipulators and exploiters.

The social engineers who manufacture the narratives which are dispensed to the mass media and repeated as fact to unsuspecting audiences rely heavily on the tactic of generating sympathy. Sympathy opens people up and allows narratives to be imbued with the power of belief in a way that bypasses skepticism and critical thinking. This is why the users and abusers you have known in your personal life are always telling stories about how much wrong has been done to them, or even going out of their way to make themselves look helpless and pathetic; if they can suck you in with sympathy, they can get you to buy into the other stories they need you to believe about who they are, who you are, what your relationship to them is, and how much money/resources/affection/sex/forgiveness you should give them.

The propagandists understand this dynamic all too well. They used people’s emotional reaction to 9/11 to manufacture support for not one but two full-scale ground invasions. They circulate pictures of dead children whenever their deaths can be blamed on a longtime target of western imperialism, but never when their deaths are caused by western imperialism. Today the narratives most prolifically circulated by proponents of regime change interventionism in Syria are almost entirely emotional in nature, consisting of nothing more than constant repetition of nonsensical talking points about civilians being brutalized by a sadistic dictator in various ways for no apparent reason. This is all to generate sympathy in order to bypass people’s skepticism of pro-interventionist narratives.

Anger is sympathy poison. It kills the sympathy you are feeling toward the narratives being promoted by those you are angry with, thus allowing you to see things clearly and eject them like the parasites they are. This is a very useful tool for dealing with the manipulators and exploiters in your personal life, and it is equally useful for the manipulators and exploiters who control western society with money, media manipulation, intelligence agency operations and brute military force. Creating momentum for widespread rage at those who unleashed the horrors inflicted upon the Syrian people immunizes the public from toxic war propaganda narratives by that much.

Six hundred thousand human lives. The chaotic violence which ended them was planned, orchestrated and overseen by the same multinational power establishment whose media propaganda machine has been singing us a seven-year lullaby keeping us from questioning the ongoing military presence and interventionism in that nation and steering us away from seeking justice for those responsible for all that death. If anyone is deserving of our loud, lullaby-shattering howling rage, it is these people.

And of course we will be fought tooth and claw on this by the US-centralized power establishment; no one is going to give us permission to do this. They will do everything they can to maintain control of the narrative and the veil of government opacity which shrouds those responsible for their Syria atrocities. But we will be attacking, which means that they will be forced to defend against those attacks. Rather than playing defensive and trying to justify our right to be skeptical while praying that there isn’t a devastating false flag attack in the illegally-occupied nation of Syria, we should be putting them on the back foot with rage and loud demands for justice. Righteous anger can severely hobble the propaganda machine they intend to use for further interventionism in that nation.

You cannot argue with the rage of someone who is certain that an unforgivable evil has been perpetrated. You simply cannot manipulate and narrative-spin your way around that; it plants an unbreakable, immovable object in the gears of the propaganda machine. By getting unapologetically furious, loud and aggressive and letting the wisdom of our anger guide our response to the situation in Syria, we can shift the zeitgeist of anti-imperialist sentiment from a meek “Oh gosh darn I sure hope the people who decimated Iraq do the right thing in Syria” to a thunderous “FUCK YOU. OUT. NOW.”

Which is where it should be.

A world in which war crimes tribunals are actually carried out for the imperialists responsible for the evils inflicted upon the Syrian people will look very different from the world that we are in now. But shoving angrily and aggressively against the establishment structures which made it possible and screaming for justice and vengeance is the first step toward creating that world.

Let’s not play defense and reaction anymore. Let’s stop waiting for something to go wrong and start forcing things to be right. It’s time to go on the offensive with this thing. Get angry and let it roar through you.

  1. I agree with much that Caitlin says here. But it’s always been my understanding that anger interferes with clear thinking. I think Caitlin agrees, which is why she cautions that our anger must be righteous anger, which is to say, it can’t be the mindless anger of violent people. I certainly think it’s right to feel anger toward undemocratic, hyper violent, thoroughly violent regime change artists like the United States.

I am also aware that there is some controversy among progressives over the position that Caitlin and others take in regard to working with the enemy. I get her argument, and if I didn’t think that it absolutely depends on us – imperfect human beings – to fix things, then I’d be with her 100%. But I’m not faithless. I do ‘not’ believe that sometimes we have to work with evil. I do not believe that sometimes bad is good. And I will never be found setting that example (of mental and spiritual ruination) for others.

Still, I would want to take the working with evil (and there is ‘evil’ just as there is ‘righteous’ and ‘unrighteous’) on a case by case basis. Show me that we can work with the enemy without compromising our principles and maybe I’ll go along with it. But is there a slippery slope here?

Destroyer Jeffrey Sachs has a history of talking like one us, as Japhy Wilson explains in his book about that faker. You know, Whenever you come across a reference to drunkard Boris Yeltsin’s firing tanks on his own parliament buildings, you should mentally remember Jeffrey Sachs, for there’s a connection. (I’m very angry about the above video.) I have been provoked to anger almost non stop for years now, by a progressive community that keeps going over to the dark side (and when you go over far enough, there’s no coming back, unlike in the Star Wars world). This article presents the latest example. A few days ago, it happened again when Consortium News, in full attitude mode, presented another one of CIA asset Graham Fuller’s articles. I was flabbergasted. I’m not the only CN regular who finds that to be off. But we get it and can’t do anything about it, other than mention in it in our comments, which are ignored.

  2. Excellent commentary. Are you still writing for the Medium and Consortium News? You need to be seen everywhere!

  3. Great article. For many years, the Imperialists have been using False advertising for the purpose of exploitation and regime change. This idea “legitimizes” False Freedom claims that the Imperialists use to topple sovereign governments, and to justify the Military Industrial Complex. I don’t recall seeing any evidence that Syria has attacked it’s neighbors. In some people’s eyes, Mr. Putin may not seem like a very nice guy, but outside of The West, a lot of people like him. Russian people feel that he offers them a sense of security. I read a blog post written by a native Afro-Russian today, and his feeling was that others should leave Russia the fuck alone. Russians are very patriotic, and the Red Army sufferred great losses, but they took Berlin, and effectively crushed the Nazi regime. We need to honor All veterans who destroyed this horror. The basic difference between the Soviet Union and the West was Economic systems. I believe that the USA should repeal the so-called Patriot Act, and keep it’s greedy, bloody hands out of other countries business.

  4. Excellent article.

  6. While I agree with the need to get really angry and make ourselves heard, I do think that it will take a lot lot more than that to effect real change and put a stop to these global atrocities.

History shows us what happens when the people ‘revolt’, when they demonstrate, and march against governments. The same things happen today, nothing has changed except we have more technology, and they have more weapons to use against us (including our technology). When the people rise up governments attack, which is why we are losing democracy to totalitarianism. It’s our governments’ answer to our complaints against them. They intend to shut us up, starting with restricting freedom of speech and then continuing with removing civil and human rights.

And history shows us that the only way is to rise up violently – which means even more people will be killed, wounded and tortured!

Therein lies the problem – we want to do it peacefully, without bloodshed but have no precedent for succeeding. We can still do it at the ballot box, or in the courts – either way it is complicated, expensive and fraught with danger. We need a large-scale united front with a single agenda, devoid of internal ‘party’ politics, bickering, posturing and power plays. It has to be underpinned by some extraordinary ‘smarts’ using every mainstream method (such as the ballot box and the courts, and newspapers) that cannot be easily stopped by the governments. It would have to be using their own ‘devices’ and methods against them – very openly and publicly – and more to the point entirely within the law and constitution.

Time is running for us to do it peacefully, as our rights are eroded, and our methods of communicating and organising subject to greater scrutiny and attack. The propaganda machines are gearing up more and more, the disinformation, the lies, and false everything, the fabricated ‘evidence’, and the accompanying clamping down on journalism, demonstrations and protest groups pushes up back and keeps us divided (the Roman principle of divide and conquer is at play here).

Nothing is going to change without a hell of a struggle and fight. A lot more innocent people will be casualties, whether physically or otherwise.

A last sobering thought. This article, the author Caitlin, and all of us commenters will be registered in some database of protesters, and each of us assessed as to how much of a threat to the establishment we might be. We will be assessed by some algorithm, or even a real person, and flagged accordingly – and then monitored. That’s how it works. In this age of widespread surveillance, our comments and thoughts no longer fly under the radar – they are captured, recorded, analysed and ranked. We each have a file in local and international spy agency databases. We each pose some kind of threat to the establishment, even if quite small.

Since I’m single and have no children, I’m also disabled and have little to lose I changed how I write about 10 months ago. I don’t care if they come after me, all I care about is my cat. My pen just might wake someone up and they can take it from there. If I could gt out and do an inside action agaist the state I probably would. So I write.

      1. John, that’s good – about your writing that is (& your cat!). The pen is mightier than the sword!

Screaming at those in power won’t do a damn thing. we need to scream at everyone around us, out friends, family, neighbors and strangers. Start screaming at them and don’t stop screaming until they get it, join in and start screaming too.
Once all of us are screaming, that’s when we can turn our screaming – and our demands – at the 536 people who represents the oligarchs. that’s when all their money and power cannot hold on to what they’ve stolen from us and from people all around the entire globe.

Yes indeed, it’s time to scream at all the people in power to stop these damn wars. Corporate media is complicit with the govt in deceptive reporting or down right lying to keep these actions ongoing and to not get folks involved in these illegal wars. As long as the majority believes in these mainstream narratives they will continue to act with impunity and continue these worthless, pointless wars. They really can’t be blamed too much. There’s little free time to pursue the real truths. A few minutes of nightly news will have to suffice for the vast majority of Americans and the rest of western states too. I have lots of time. I’m disabled, single and have no outside social life so I can spend several hours everyday sorting out the ‘truth’.

The big problem I have is how to get noticed by Washington. Even demonstrations have proven ineffective; even during the ‘Nam the results were negligible. It wasn’t until the Pentagon Papers were published that Congress realized what was going on. Then the ‘Nam started winding down.

I know I’m tired of being lied to about these wars because I do know what’s going on. I’ll write more at Medium on this. Peace, The Ol’ Hippy

      .
Here’s how we fix that : Dedicate yourself to educating two people within the next week – friends , family , whatever , as long as it’s someone who trusts you – on a single topic that is part of our government’s massive Big Lie. Use this article as the basis for an explanation of the Big Lie about Syria , for example. Run through all the linked articles with them , etc. It shouldn’t take more than a half-hour each , so only about an hour of your time is required. Explain that the same Big Lie applies for Libya , Ukraine , Yemen , 9/11 and so on , just as it did for Iraq , which , assuming they haven’t been living under a rock , they should already know about. Once convinced , make them promise to ” pay it forward ” by themselves educating two people over the following week , exacting the same promise from them.
      .
Assume 1 million U.S. citizens are currently clued-in like us ( there’s way more than that ). After only two months , if everyone does as directed , the entire adult population of the U.S. will be up to speed , and angry as hell , just like us. Do the math.
      .
Easy-peasy ,so let’s get to work.

      1. Tried. For many years. The red pill can be a very isolated life. Just this weekend. . “Your too negative” Problem is once you take the red pill there’s no going back. Lets all be realistic. Were long past “screaming” .. Military coupe is the only thing that will save this place. Americans are way too complacent. As long as they have their I-crap gadgets, they will never care.

        1. Yes, I hear you. Most people simply don’t care . As long as it doesn’t affect them and their tribe they don’t give a shit. In fact they want to hear comforting lies, to absolve them of responsibility. That’s why those narratives work so well, everybody wants to hear they are the good guys. It’s an easy sell.Good Vs evil, red Vs blue.. Screw the normies, they are the ones empowering the psychopaths at the top. What we must do is to help empower the victimized, oppressed and those without agency. Only they are motivated to push back hard enough and bring about real change

    Caitlin again hits the target.
That US actions on Syria are war crimes is obvious to any whose minds are open.
This can be seen from a higher perspective. The US and its vassals war on Syria is the West attempt to subdue or defeat the coalescing multifarious East. Of course it will fail. The Eastern powers are drawing red lines and telling the West “do you think we are kidding?”. Syria is at the fulcrum of the war against the ongoing shift to the East.
Instead of joining with Russia, China, Iran and others to work for a better world for all the US is captured by its zero-sum game attitude. The Russia/China alliance with its win/win approach with the rest of the world is our only hope for a better future.
Has it come to this? That the US is a retrograde entity trying to hold back the advance of humanity? I just cannot escape that conclusion.

  11. The problem with those “hopium” articles – is you need to register or something strange to comment – so they live in their little cyber-bubbles, cut off from radicals sending them information. Why was Dr. Mark Serreze, supposed Arctic Expert, telling me he though the “abrupt methane eruption” was a “low probability” and so I send him Dr. Shakhova’s research. Then he gets quoted in a big global news story how the Arctic warming is now “crazy, crazy” – so I contact him again about the ESAS methane bomb and he goes, “Yeah I still think it’s low probability but Dr. Natalia Shakhova is the expert.” Then he sends me old research of hers. Probably what I had sent him already. I send him her latest research in reply and say ok then why does she say EVERY YEAR MATTERS and that the Arctic Methane is gonna blow as soon as it’s ice free? His response: Thanks. That’s IT!! No press release to tell the world? WT begeezbeezes – http://envisionation.co.uk/index.php/nick-breeze/203-subsea-permafrost-on-east-siberian-arctic-shelf-now-in-accelerated-decline take about the biggest corporate-state mass mind control crackdown in global history. Even BlackBearNews barely mentions the ESAS methane bomb. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=6&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwjs7JKso93bAhVOXK0KHT1QCHIQFghMMAU&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.biogeosciences.net%2F14%2F2283%2F2017%2Fbg-14-2283-2017.pdf&usg=AOvVaw2ZXoUd1PTTtZhAs7eO9sjF That’s the pdf link https://www.biogeosciences.net/14/2283/2017/bg-14-2283-2017.pdf There it is.

I realize LA is a long ways from the Arctic – but the science already showed that CA hot weather is from the arctic warming. So Red LLama – read the end of that pdf – it clearly states when the ARctic is Ice-Free the bomb is gonna blow. And I quote: “This microbial gas will likely reach the atmosphere when the sea ice is absent.”
Let’s have our Trendy Medium Link be Optimistic about that. haha.
