Novelty Joke PM From Fake Country Meets With Trump, Silent On Assange

Scott Morrison, the novelty joke Prime Minister from the imaginary nation of Australia, met with his boss Donald Trump today without any mention of the US government’s transnational conspiracy to imprison an Australian citizen for exposing American war crimes. The two imperial governors publicly discussed the possibility of Australia accompanying the US into a war with Iran, as well as the US trade war with China and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s brownface scandal, but there is no record of any mention of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange.

This is all unsurprising, given that Australia is Washington’s basement gimp. Now little more than a US military/intelligence asset, Australia consistently aligns with Washington on all foreign policy issues and is no more of a sovereign, independent nation than Alaska or Hawaii. As Assange himself said shortly before he was silenced and then imprisoned, “I love my birth country Australia but as a state it doesn’t exist.”

“Were Assange imprisoned by the Chinese, Russian or Iranian regimes, the response would doubtless be very different,” the World Socialist Website recently observed of the Australian government’s silence on Assange. “Ministers would claim that they were making urgent diplomatic representations and they would piously speak about their responsibilities to Australian citizens unjustly imprisoned abroad. Such statements have been made by leading Australian government ministers over the past week, after it was revealed that three Australian citizens are imprisoned in Iran on espionage charges—the same allegations faced by Assange. Morrison and his colleagues have also protested against the imprisonment of Chinese dissident and Australian citizen Yang Hengjun by the Beijing regime.”

In a world where plutocratic narrative control makes it exceedingly difficult to assemble a lucid picture of what’s really going on, the persecution of Julian Assange has been highly clarifying. It has for example killed dead the notion that imprisoning and torturing dissident journalists for telling the truth is something that is only done by the enemies of the US-centralized power alliance, as well as the narrative that we live in a society that is interested in the promotion of freedom and democracy. But perhaps the most illuminating aspect of Assange’s case has been the shattering of the illusion that we live in a world of separate, sovereign nations.

It makes absolutely no sense that the Australian government would stand by as one of its own is imprisoned and tortured for conducting journalism when it rushes to defend its citizens from other governments, unless you think of Australia as part of a single US-centralized empire, in which case it makes perfect sense.

It makes absolutely no sense that the UK would spend £16 million patrolling the Ecuadorian embassy to enforce a bogus and petty bail charge until it could drag him out kicking and screaming in coordination with the Ecuadorian government in its termination of his political asylum, unless you think of the UK as part of a single US-centralized empire, in which case it makes perfect sense.

It makes absolutely no sense that Sweden would sharply diverge from all its standard legal protocols for everything from testimony to hearings to InterPol Red Notices to extradition proceedings over completely unproven and plot hole-riddled allegations of sexual misconduct, unless you think of Sweden as part of a single US-centralized empire, in which case it makes perfect sense.

It makes no sense that Ecuador would suddenly begin acting like it’s gravely concerned about cat hygiene and skateboarding after the very serious reasons it gave for granting Assange political asylum in the first place, unless you think of Ecuador as part of a single US-centralized empire, in which case it makes perfect sense.

If you think of Australia, America, the UK, Sweden and Ecuador as separate, sovereign nations, then it looks like a very strange coincidence indeed that they would have all been pursuing agendas at the exact same time in a way that just so happened to result in Assange locked in solitary confinement awaiting US extradition. If, however, you think of them all as a single entity, then it doesn’t look like a coincidence at all: it looks like a single empire imprisoning a journalist for exposing inconvenient truths.

In the same way that the invisible, unacknowledged nature of the modern international oligarchy keeps people from realizing that they are still living in an age where they are effectively ruled by kings, the invisible nature of the US-centralized empire keeps people from realizing that they don’t live in real nations that have any self-sovereignty at all.

The United States is brilliant at many things, and one of the things it is most brilliant at is outsourcing. The US outsources all its ugliest aspects so that its local electorate doesn’t have to look at them; it outsources its slavery, it outsources its torture, it outsources its warmongering, and, as we see in the case of Julian Assange, it outsources the holding cells of its political prisoners.

And make no mistake, Assange is most definitely a US political prisoner. This is now true by any possible interpretation of the situation, given that his imprisonment for his bail charge is about to end and will now shift to his simply remaining locked in Belmarsh Prison awaiting extradition to the United States. A British court ruled last week that Assange must remain locked up indefinitely in spite of the expiration of his bail transgression sentence because he has a “history of absconding”, which is a very dishonest way of framing the legal and internationally recognized right to apply for political asylum.

“Assange is now, plainly and without argument, a political prisoner,” former British ambassador Craig Murray recently wrote of Assange’s case. “He is not in jail for bail-jumping. He is not in jail for sexual allegations. He is in jail for publishing official secrets, and for nothing else. The UK now has the world’s most famous political prisoner, and there are no rational grounds to deny that fact.”

A political prisoner. Plainly and without argument. And yet the Prime Minister of his own country just met with the leader of the government which is orchestrating that imprisonment and breathed not a word of it. Because we do not live in the kind of world we were taught about in school. We live in a globe-spanning international empire.

  • Our morally and ethically corrupted political leaders are incapable to comprehend the consequences of their stupidity concerning decisions they make about sharing this planet with all of humanity in a fair and harmonious way.

  • Can we ask why JA is still being held where he is instead of having been extradited to some black hole within the heart of the evil empire? I can imagine a great many things, one being the question of just how valuable or conversely destructive the first-hand testimony of Mr. A might be within a tribunal engaged in purging the empire of certain as yet unnamed persons suspected of being foul and evil. That said, it is conceivable that person “A” is effectively being held in protective custody considering the inclinations and suspected history of some foul and evil as yet unnamed persons who would prefer “A” join “E” where ever that may actually be. Could it be that Mr. E (now thought dead) was actually whisked away for the sake of protective custody because he too represented a valuable or conversely destructive first-person witness in possession of materials which, if exposed, could totally shatter the status quo of the Western World? If Mr. “E” is truly dead, where then is the massive incriminating data dump which any classic bad guy keeps hidden with some automatic release trigger if “something bad” happens to them? Still waiting…

    • LOL. Fine points. I said myself that the question was not who killed Epstein, it’s whether he was dead or recuperating in the Kenneth Lay Cosmetic Surgery Hospital.

  • “We live in a globe-spanning international empire.”

You hit the nail on the head. Most people don’t know that tiny group of people control most of the wealth on the planet. They are nor necessarily all from the US. The majority pelong to the G7 nations. This cabal is responsible for all the major wars and behind the drive for Globalization and the New Word Order with the ultimate goal to establish World Government and One Digital world currency. All the International organizations (World Bank, IMF, etc, as well the major Central Banks) are under their control.
GLOBALIZATION or NEOLIBERAL GLOBALIZATION of the NWO started mainly from the US elites with the CIA that also helped create the European Union. This Unholy undemocratic system is driven by thousands of transnational corporations (TNCs), out of which 1,318 core companies, through interlocking ownerships, own 80% of global revenues and, of these, 147 companies (i.e. less than 1 per cent of the network) form a ‘super entity’, controlling 40 per cent of the wealth of the entire network!

    • i don’t mind world government and one digital world currency. i do mind wars and bad redistribution of the commons.

  • In my inbox is an email from the Quaker’s Friends Committee on National Legislation. After introducing a Mom’s RICE method for treated her boy’s sprained ankles (Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation), she provides…

Reflect. When I feel hopeless, alone, and isolated, I rest and reflect. I do this in community to sustain the work of love and witness in the long run.
Ice. When I feel the overflow of injustice and violence in the world, I visualize applying ice to cool my mind.
Compassion. When my heart aches, I turn to compassion and lean into the embrace of our community.
Energize. When I feel down, I elevate my spirit with song, prayer, or walks in nature.

And note, this is not saying to retreat from the world, but just providing tips on how to sustain the long struggle we all face for peace and justice.

  • Caitlin Johnstone: you are a brilliant journalist and truth teller. Thanks for all of your work exposing the violence and hypocrisy of our governments — USA and Australia, among others — especially in this scandalous case of persecuting Julian Assange. That the Australian government will not lift a finger to rescue Assange – whose life is in danger according to John Pilger and others — is an indicator of its utter subservience to the US. It is heartbreaking to witness the deterioration of the brilliant Assange under the onslaught of the cruelty imposed by Great Britain’s hypocritical justice system, again at the behest of the USA. And we should recognize the courage of Chelsea Manning, who is also languishing unjustly in prison for her refusal to falsely accuse Assange.

  • While the United States government is shitting on everyone ( excluding Israel ) and even turning on its former friends; Mr. Putin goes about being ” diplomatic ” and getting positive results. Russia’s defensive military hardware proved to be highly superior to United States military hardware in Syria which has exposed to the world that the United States over-priced military hardware is just ” junk “. Of course the United States main stream media goes out of its way to ignore anything ” weak ” or ” false ” about ” United States superiority “. Being a belligerent bully all the time leaves you no room for anything else; you have to constantly kick ass just to stay alive. This editorial is very enlightening:

  • Here in Australia, I have emailed our esteemed Leader of the Opposition (LOL) re Julian Assange yet again. This time I’ve asked what it takes to get a response out of Labor, attached Nils Melzer’s report, and asked Albo to read it and explain to me how he and his party can ignore such treatment of an Australian citizen. This makes at least six emails to Albo and my local member, none of which have received any response at all.

    • Gee, at least in America we get a form letter email back in reply.

    • I suspect that your email correspondence is being routed straight into their SPAM folders.

  • It’s unfashionable to talk in moral terms these days,
but EVIL always finds a way of expressing itself.
This answers the question, WHY is a Trump possible-?
People voted for him. The Electoral College put him in office.
However dodgy his campaign was, there was a demand for him.
(Partly due to his celebrity status from reality TV shows.)
But there are variations of Trump in other countries as well.
This means that there is something structural going on.

Defeating the empire’s narrative is crucial,
but how do we defeat the evil behind the narrative-?

As the apostle Paul wrote to Timothy,
‘ ‘ The love of money is the root of all evil. ‘ ‘

How do we defeat the love of money-?

    • by each and every one of us living a simple life, by boycotting the EVIl way of life. it’s a very long fight.

    • And yet I think the illness goes deeper.

    • Why is Trump President? Because a corrupt Democratic Party didn’t listen to its members and instead chose to put up a corrupt and hated candidate against Trump. It didn’t take Russia collusion. And even the now known Israeli and Saudi collusion with Trump could have been defeated if the Democrats hadn’t forced their worst possible candidate on the country. And the Democrats then used Russiagate to avoid having to learn any lessons from this, so they are doing the same thing again with Swiss-cheese-brain Biden.

  • Ecuador is an interesting case. Under its previous President, Rafael Correa, Ecuador did act like an independent sovereign state. It of course was under Correa that asylum was granted to Assange. Then, the next President, Moreno, broke all of his campaign promises within months of being elected to side firmly with America. A large chunk of money from the IMF in the form of a loan, was delivered at almost the same time Assange right to asylum was declared revoked by the now American governor of Ecuador.
    ……………….
Of course, the one common thing about every country which America bombs is that they dared to be an independent sovereign state and at times acting differently than that with America commands. Acting like you are a free people is the sure fire way to get bombed in the name of freedom.

    • not only any ‘independent sovereign state’ and not only states the US bombs – besides bombing they assassinate or otherwise remove heads of state or apply sanctions which kill economies and people. In all those cases it’s states which are/were left-leaning and use/d profits from their resources to improve the lives of their citizens rather than allow corporations to suck money from local economies while polluting everywhere and lowering conditions of workers. Socialism cannot be allowed to set a good example, and corporations can’t be denied free reign to exploit whatever and wherever they like.

    • Recall that available histories of Bush I’s invasion of Iraq leave out a key fact pertinent to the US’ quick response and invasion. The Iraqi government, behaving as an independent sovereign state, had been hinting that OPEC should price oil in terms of another currency instead of or in addition to the US dollar. This was in the news at the time, But now, nearly thirty years later, it is hard to find a reference when one looks for historical summaries.

Of course, the threat to US hegemony in proposing a shift from pricing crude oil in dollars is obvious.

So, 12 years later, what prompted the Bush II government to invade Iraq and eventually execute Saddam Hussein? A country with no actual link to the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks? This time, he moved ahead with the plan to sell oil for euros. How convenient that Bush II was able to conflate Saudi terrorism with Saddam Hussein’s regime so that the majority in the US, with the anti-muslim bias – were ravenous for war with Iraq.

  • The “constitutional coup” …??
it was Gough who made Australia a Delaware corporation, who signed up to Lima, who bypassed and ignored the Constitution. If he was ousted, and he should have gone because he was without doubt the worst PM we have ever had, it was with the consent of the populace. Australia has never been the same since he took us into the US sphere.
Most weren’t aware of Gough’s duplicity, and sadly, Gough’s successor Frazer didn’t have the gonads to reverse the rot.
We were once a truly great place to live.
Now we are little more that a little cur running along at the foot of the Mafia gang that is the US.

      sell off land & resources

sell off 100% tax-payer funded (owned) companies to domestic & foreign multi-nats

borrow money from a private company to fund govt. spending instead of leveraging own resources as collateral to print own currency.

Q: how can a govt be in surplus if it still has unpaid debts?
A: easy, just pay the interest on old debt, then borrow some more, simple!

it’s all a game for the “elites” who play with the serfs (tax payers) to see who can squeeze the hardest without killing the serfs. ie; we’re all tax slaves that keep our masters content.
