Both Tulsi Gabbard and the Green Party of the United States have issued scorching rebukes of Hillary Clinton for baseless accusations the former Secretary of State made during a recent interview claiming that both Gabbard and former Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein are aligned with the Russian government.

“I’m not making any predictions, but I think they’ve got their eye on somebody who is currently in the Democratic primary and are grooming her to be the third-party candidate,” Clinton said in a transparent reference to Gabbard. “She’s the favorite of the Russians. They have a bunch of sites and bots and other ways of supporting her so far. And that’s assuming Jill Stein will give it up, which she might not because she’s also a Russian asset.”

Clinton provided no evidence for her outlandish claims, because she does not have any. Gabbard has repeatedly denied centrist conspiracy theories that she intends to run as a third-party candidate, a claim which establishment pundits have been making more and more often because they know there will never be any consequences when their claims are disproven. There is no evidence of any kind connecting either Jill Stein or Tulsi Gabbard to the Russian government.

Of course, this total lack of evidence hasn’t dissuaded Clintonites from falling all over themselves trying to justify Mommy’s claims anyway.

“Russian ‘assets’ are not formal relationships in the USIC [US Intelligence Community] sense of the word,” CNN analyst and former FBI agent Asha Rangappa explained via Twitter. “If you are parroting Russian talking points and furthering their interests, you’re a source who is too dumb to know you’re being played to ask for money.”

“It’s important to point out here that a Russian ‘asset’ is not the same thing as a Russian ‘agent’,” tweeted virulent establishment narrative manager Caroline Orr. “An asset can be witting or unwitting; it’s any person or org who can be used to advance Russia’s interests. It’s pretty clear that Tulsi satisfies that criteria.”

“One doesn’t have to be on the Kremlin’s payroll to be a Russian asset. One doesn’t even have to know they are a Russian asset to be a Russian asset. Have you not heard the term ‘useful idiot’ before?” tweeted writer Kara Calavera.

Yep, yeah, that makes perfect sense. One doesn’t have to actually have any formal relationship with the Kremlin to be a Kremlin asset. One doesn’t have to know they’re a Kremlin asset to be a Kremlin asset. The Kremlin doesn’t even need to know one is a Kremlin asset for them to be a Kremlin asset. Nothing has to have happened except the accusation of being a Kremlin asset. It’s just kind of a vague, shapeless nothing thing that doesn’t necessarily have any actual meaning to it at all besides the way it makes people feel inside. It’s more like a religious belief, really.

Isn’t it interesting how that works? Establishment loyalists get a damaging and incendiary tag that they can pin on anyone who disagrees with them, with the sole evidentiary requirement being that disagreement itself.

Author and antiwar activist David Swanson noticed this bizarre intellectual contortion as well, tweeting, “Notice that they carefully define ‘Russian asset’ to mean not necessarily an asset and not necessarily with any connection to Russia.”

Establishment narrative managers have been performing this obnoxious trick for years; this is just the most publicly it’s been brought into the spotlight. They claim someone is a Russian asset, then when asked to provide proof that the person is working for Russia, they say they might be an “unwitting” Russian asset, or a “useful idiot”, who does the Kremlin’s bidding without realizing it by sharing ideas and information which the Russian government agrees with. Which is just another way of saying that they hold positions which diverge from the microscopic Overton window of establishment-authorized opinion.

Such positions typically consist of some form of opposition to longstanding US military agendas, such as America’s failed policy of regime change interventionism. Both Jill Stein and Tulsi Gabbard have inserted skepticism of US military policy into mainstream political discourse, which is tremendously inconvenient for the people whose job it is to manufacture consent for new wars and endless military expansionism.

The “Russian asset” smear has given the establishment narrative managers the ability to make incredibly inflammatory and scandalous accusations about anyone who opposes the US establishment foreign policy consensus, without ever having to back them up with facts. It’s no obstacle for me if I can’t prove that you have any connection to the Russian government, because I can still smear you as a Russian asset by saying your views align with Moscow’s interests, or by noting that Russian news media has done news reporting on you as our friend Neera Tanden does here:

https://twitter.com/neeratanden/status/1185398111046426624?s=20

Never mind the fact that there are many, many reasons to oppose the US establishment foreign policy consensus which have nothing to do with Russia. Never mind the fact that the US establishment foreign policy consensus has been an unmitigated disaster that has only made the world worse and is pushing the US-centralized power alliance toward a point where a direct military confrontation with Russia, China and their allies becomes inescapable. Never mind the fact that Russia is far from the only country in the world that wishes America would scale back its aggressive military expansionism. It has been firmly established beyond any doubt that it is now literally impossible for an American political figure to vocally oppose US warmongering without being labeled a Russian asset.

In reality, “Russian asset” is nothing more than a completely meaningless noise that war pigs make with their face holes, no more coherent and communicative than the barking of a dog or the chattering of a squirrel. If we were to come up with a definition for that term which reflects the way it is actually being used in modern political discourse, that definition would be something like, “An incantation which magically makes political dissent look like something treasonous and Machiavellian.”

Establishment narrative managers are getting more and more aggressive with the psychological bullying tactics they are using against political dissidents. Applying a ridiculous, meaningless pejorative to anyone who disagrees with mainstream US foreign policy views is just one more ugly tool in their infernal toolbox. It is not normal, healthy or acceptable to accuse someone of being a Russian asset just because they disagree with the authorized commentators of the American political/media class, and when they make such accusations they should be publicly shamed for it.

  1. The MSM and that includes all printed and electronic are all assets of the zionist NWO. They all read from the same prepared script, their agenda is to their over lords, the elite who have planned for the enslavement of the human race. The press, whether it’s in America or Britain have no credibility. With the BBC and its Jimmy Seville scandal and in America where the Jeffery Epstein scandal has been sent down the memory hole, probably much to the relief of those certain persons within the MSM who obviously have something to hide and would rather not see the light of day.
So the MSM presstitutes as Paul Craig Roberts calls them, obediently do what they’re told or they become unpersons.
This isn’t new however, as has been pointed out in an article authored by Steve Penfield for the Unz review, how the press and radio personalities were purged by Hoover and leftist dictator, Rooseveldt: http://republicbroadcasting.org/news/the-forgotten-media-purges-of-the-great-depression/
The press is now fully under control and anyone who strays soon becomes public enemy number one.
The First Amendment, for all practical reasons, is dead.

  2. How dare you sexist Putin puppets not realize that Thrillary would’ve been immeasurably better than orange Adolf. I pray myself to sleep that she’ll give us one more chance in 2020. She beat him before, and she’ll do it again. How dare Tulsi Gabbard rudely tweet about the greatest public servant of our era. Neera Tanden, John Podesta, Robby Mook, Joel Benenson, Jennifer Palmieri, Jess McIntosh, Jake Sullivan, and Rebecca Traister aren’t soulless mouthpieces, they’re national treasures. Just ask the grateful freedom and democracy lovers of Honduras, Iraq, Libya, Syria, and Ukraine. I donate as much as I can to the DNC, NPR, and PBS, and I have a lifetime subscription to the NYT. You bots and trolls make me sick. Show some respect for once.

  3. Good article. Thank you.

  4. Everybody who denies that the US is an evil empire that should take its hands off Syria, Venezuela, Ukraine and most of the world in general is a CIA asset and either an agent or useful idiot of the US deep state. Two can play that game.

  5. Just thought you should know, I’m a subscriber to email alerts for this website, but Gmail is now flagging these as “spam.” If I hadn’t gone digging through my spam folder looking for something else, I never would’ve even realized it.

  6. It’s goid that they’re clarifying this for us. So just to be clear if you just speak favorably of someplace or someone, like Russia or Assad, you are an ‘asset’.

If however, your campaign and foundation take millions from the Saudi Royals or Russian Oligarchs, you are an agent.

Who better to detail the difference than Hillary herself? Probably few people alive today have more experience here than her.

As of today Tulsi Gabbard, decorated soldier and Congressional Representative has a new unofficial campaign slogan. I hope she makes it official (she doesn’t even have to pay me any royalties. I’m her asset). Ready:

    Tulsi Gabbard-An American Asset!

Love it! I mean what better asset can an American hope for than someone who tells everyone not to vote for the other Democrats?! She’s truly an American Asset!

BTW they tried this whole ‘they’re Gonna run as a third party candidate’ BS on Ron Paul. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice and I’m a Democrat!!!!

What is most hilarious about this latest political kerfuffle is the Orwellian hypocrisy of the United States.

After all, America not only cultivates “assets” in many, many other nations around the world but also actively attempts to regime change these nations.

    USA=Regime Changes R US.

Complaining about Gabbard being a Russian asset is thus an example of how America psychologically projects its own criminal activity onto other countries.

Indeed, the ridiculously expansive criteria for “Russian asset” pushed by Asha Rangappa could be applied to anyone who spouts American establishment propaganda … like the infamous (and mythological) Iraqi Weapons of Mass Destruction.

These people could and indeed should be tarred as American Assets, who are useful idiots for the American Empire and its “talking points.”

Of course, America and its foreign policy are motivated by the most noble of intentions. (Just ignore how many hundreds of thousands of people or multiple nations that America has bombed back to the Stone Age.) Hence, being an American Asset is morally acceptable.

Welcome to the crazy hubristic world of the Land of the Free!

    1. Ironically Rangappa is clearly a Clinton Asset. She’s doing her bidding and not seeing a dime. And it’s no stretch to assume that by slandering a veteran soldier and US Representative she is most likely an asset of one or more of our enemies. Now take to the Twitters and make this the biggest talking point in the world. Who else benefits from simultaneously diminishing our soldiers and Congresswomen if not our enemies?

Sorry to burst your patriotic bubble, but Tulsi Gabbard is likely an asset–an Indian Hindutva asset, according to analysts like Wayne Madsen.

Her connections to the Indian ruler Narendra Modi, who is head of the Hindu fundamentalist BJP ruling party, and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), which is the parent party of the BJP, date back years and are significant–though she has tried to downplay those ties now during her presidential campaign.

As for American soldiers, they are imperial stormtroopers of the American Empire and deserve to be held accountable for all the criminal wars that America is guilty of. Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Syria, Yemen–the blood of millions are on America’s hands. Those crimes will not be whitewashed away by US flag-waving propaganda.

    ________________________________________________

I don’t know what kinds of exotic sciurine critters inhabit Australia, but the grey squirrels residing in my tiny Pennsylvania, USA back yard (I call it “The Peaceable Kingdom”) only chatter and “bark” when a predator is in the vicinity. Thus, I regard their vocalizations as reasonably coherent and communicative.

Caitlin, with all due respect, I think you owe squirrels an apology– at least the common grey squirrel in the US.

    1. And dogs. And pigs. Only human beings act like Hillary Clinton and her minions. The worst thing one can call someone is HUMAN.

  9. The truth is, anyone who is accusing someone of being a Russian asset, is actually the Russian asset. This is the perfect cover to do the dirty work for those evil Russians who control the entirety of anything connected with the running of America as a “sovereign” nation. If you don’t believe me, you are a useful idiot!

    1. Here’s a thought……..Tulsi Gabbard for President and Maryanne Williamson for vice president. That should really scare the ruthless pig woman.

  10. This is really getting me down. It is totally beyond my comprehension that these media outlets can get away with blatant war-mongering corporate-interest lies and a large swathes of the public watch these appalling people, and large swathes accept what they say. Despite the valiant efforts of Caitlin and her fellow truth-tellers, peace and a fair society seem to be getting further and further away. As I said, it’s getting me down. Wake me up when the revolution starts.

  11. L.O.L. Seriously ????? I’d consider it an HONOR, being identified as a “Russian Asset”. These days they are the only folks who act honourably, AND agreements with them are honoured.

  12. Hmmm.
Let’s use this teem “asset” more broadly, such as:
    “Raytheon asset”
    “Israeli asset”
    “racists asset”

  13. I gave up on the Clintons and the Democrats back during Bill’s first POTUS campaign when he stopped it in order to return to Arkansas where he, with Hillary at his side, oversaw the execution of Ricky Rector who had the mental capacity of a child at the time of execution (because he’d effectively lobotomized himself with a failed suicide attempt – it is reported that when asked why he hadn’t eaten the dessert of his last dinner, he responded that he’d eat it when he returned). And he was a minor when he committed the murder for which he was sentenced to the state sanctioned murder called capital punishment.

That’s all I needed to now about the Clintons and their plans for the Democratic Party, all of which proved to be true. They are FRAUDS.

Yet here we are decades later and they still have enough control over the Dems that she feels safe in publicly smearing a fellow Democrat with the most absurd and deranged accusation possible. It is beyond ridiculous. It is dangerous – apparently a majority of citizens actually believe that the POTUS ( I hold ZERO respect for Trump, btw, and would never vote for him) is a manchurian candidate, a Russian plant. I’ve never seen anything like it my lifetime. and the new Cold War seems to me palpably more dangerous than the first.

Trump, if he’s smart, will turn it against the feckless Democrats and say, simply “see, it’s them that’s colluding with Russia. Hillary said so!!” (then remind folks of the Democratic origins of the Steele dossier – no clearer case of ‘collusion’ then that.

I may abhor every day that Donald Trump is president, but that in no way mitigates the joy I feel every day that Hillary is not. Alas, the Democratic leadership learned nothing from their Queen’s humiliating defeat and will double down to protect their corporate, war mongering agenda..

  14. Hilary Clinton is a total lost cause liar. She should be tarred & feathered and ridden out of town on a rail. (All costs of this parade to be borne by the Clintom Foundation)

  15. The term is “Comprehension Impaired”
Contrast the following quotes, then tell me who is “C.I.?”

“Clinton said in a transparent reference to Gabbard. “She’s the favorite of the Russians. They have a bunch of sites and bots and other ways of supporting her so far. And that’s assuming Jill Stein will give it up, which she might not because she’s also a Russian asset.”

So according to Clinton, Gabbard is getting support from Russia. And implies Stein knows she is a Russian asset with known Russian support, or how else could she not want to “give it up?”

But then an FBI genius reveals her utter lack of morals…and inability to make a statement a 3rd grader couldn’t refute:

    “Asha Rangappa

    @AshaRangappa_
This is so important. Russian “assets” are not formal relationships in the USIC sense of the word. If you are parroting Russian talking points and furthering their interests, you’re a source who is too dumb to know you’re being played to ask for money. ”

    Who is “dumb” now Asha?

  16. Well there it is my fellow veterans Hillary shows her true colors. Here we finally have an honest account of CIA instigated wars by a twice deployed veteran who goes on a fact finding mission (yes that means meeting with your suspected dictator plus and including your allies) and you are accused of being a Russian asset by a former First Lady, Senator, forever insidious Warmonger Queen of these corporate owned United States. Real nice Madam Hillary… the troops will (not) love you for it. I don’t know about you but with Hillary’s veiled no there there allegation of Tulsi being a Russian bot or useful idiot for me is an endorsement for Rep Tulsi Gabbard for President of these United States of America …. Tulsi 2020!

  17. Quick! Raise your hand if you and/or your spouse has ever received millions of dollars collectively from Russia, a Russian Bank and/or a Russian Oligarch for speaking fees and/or as one or more “contributions” into a tax exempt charitable foundation bearing your family name and/or if you have ever been involved in officially approving the transfer of massive amounts of US Uranium reserves to a Canadian Company which ultimately went to “The Russians” and which involved some serious quid pro quo. If so, does this make you a Russian agent, a Russian operative or simply a US traitor? Next we shall ask the same about China, Saudi Arabia and numerous other foreign entities. Follow the money, always.

    1. I once drank some Russian Vodka.
And even some French wine during the U.S. invasion of Iraq.
That makes me a Franco/Russian asset.
I don’t know whether to order cheese or borscht.

  18. Life on Earth is clearly a Russian Asset, by generally agreed-upon criteria.
    http://www.johndayblog.com/2019/10/planetary-life-is-russian-asset.html

  19. I believe that the current attack on Gabbard is not meaningless at all. It’s obvious that one can hardly win an election while calling one’s own people traitors, which is the literal meaning of ‘Russian asset’ and ‘Kremlin talking point’ and so on. That the official sock puppets of the Established Order have been told to start quacking in this manner can only mean their masters are panicking, possibly because they know something which has not yet become public.

  20. Also, I don’t know if anyone’s noticed, but Jill Stein is not running for president this time. Howie Hawkins is the Green Party’s leading candidate.

Jill Stein did challenge HRC to a debate though:

  21. if russia’s goal was trump, then there’s no better asset they have than the war nut that lost the most embarrassing election in american history: the goldwater girl. channeling mccarthy and cohn, cheerleading russiagate and now ukrainegate, she will help us along to an even more embarrassing defeat in 2020. and soon, once epstein and the lolita express have unequivocally been expunged from history, we’ll make out in the dust her intern-groping husband playing catch up. it’s as if the democrats don’t realize we’re standing right behind their sleights of hand, seeing precisely how each illusion is conducted in real time–upon the titanic, no less. it’s not as if putin need raise even a pinkie to soil an electoral process already drowning in its own sludge. imagine disinterring this lipsticky monster of public humiliation to in any way expound upon presidential politics. hell, give the sepulchral dnc half a chance, and they’ll run the poor ol’ horse again. anyway, if a gabbard did survive the ridicule, torture, sabotage, and existential desperation of her own party to become president, what the ochre ogre in the white house has experienced, intel’s “six ways to sunday” to destroy somebody, as schumer put it—what trump has survived by his own sheer insanity, gabbard wouldn’t. she couldn’t. the onslaught would be as blinding as a thousand suns.

  22. Here’s a preview of the next war channel TV panel on the subject, only all in serious, authoritative tones:

V: There are ways of telling whether she is a witch.
P1: Are there? Well then tell us! (tell us)
V: Tell me… what do you do with witches?
P3: Burn’em! Burn them up! (burn burn burn)
V: What do you burn apart from witches?
    P1: More witches! (P2 nudge P1)
    (pause)
    P3: Wood!
V: So, why do witches burn?
    (long pause)
    P2: Cuz they’re made of… wood?
    V: Gooood.

‘In reality, “Russian asset” is nothing more than a completely meaningless noise that war pigs make with their face holes,..’.

That’s not ‘completely meaningless noise’ at all. It has real, deadly meaning. Terms like ‘Kremlin talking point’, ‘Putin apologist’, ‘Assad apologist’, ‘Communist’, etc, mean when you get labelled with them you suffer the consequences, which would range from ‘polite’ condescending disregard to job loss to lynching.

As in the witch hunts of yore and their more ‘modern’ manifestations, it’s not simply an “incantation which magically makes political dissent look like something treasonous and Machiavellian”. It’s a license to harm, and given the US’s impeccable record when it comes to witch hunts, harm to the targets is the intent and it will ensue.

Clinton and her ilk in the corporate media, the foreign policy blob and the ‘deep state’ borg have created and fuelled McCarthyism 2.0 with Trump as its hook. They endeavour to make it permanent — with progressives and the left as its real and eternal targets. The real meaning of this ‘meaningless noise’ is to lay the basis for criminalising dissent.

  24. Tulsi Gabbard & Jill Stein for POTUS/VIP (either/way) in 2020 !

  25. That Clinton was willing to get elected by starting a war with Russia over Crimea, a key Russian strategic assert since 1784, doesn’t make her a patriot.
It makes her a selfish, arrogant, careerist.

    1. Especially when the Crimeans voted in overwhelming numbers to join the Russian federation.
Something close to 95% in favor.
So much for the Russian invasion…of a nation made up of 95% Russians.
      But, never mind the facts.
      The Russians Invaded Crimea!

  26. Don’t you love how they hate on Ms. Gabbard and the Green Party, accusing them of helping Russia defeat Ms. Clinton’s loss. Would someone take notice that the Libertarian party took about three times as many votes as the Green Party in the states narrowly won by Trump in 2016? Those Libertarian ballots would largely have been among the undervote (abstaining from a presidential vote); or Republican votes if forced into a binary choice between R and D. Libertarian votes would, in other words, have wiped out the Green party votes the Democrats are claiming should have been theirs.

So, the R’s beat the D’s where it counted, and the L’s beat the G’s, too, so your blaming the Greens for Ms. Clinton’s loss is quite illogical.

    1. “Don’t confuse ‘em with the facts! They got their mind made up!”

  27. You can say what you will but Hillary is right. The Russians are so sneaky and mischievous that they’re even using Hillary to hype up their ability to make people their assets.

    1. Stephen Morrell Avatar

  30. egg’em on, pls, until they slip off the cliff and can never come back.

  31. Shades of the McCarthy era when you could call anyone you chose a communist, with no proof whatever. Or another era where you could accuse anyone of “witchcraft”.

    1. Not shades. Full colour.

  32. Louis Proyect probably believes this about Gabbard as well.

  33. LOL, yup they’re all a bunch of low-level, I watched a documentary on how apes lie, cheat and steal, it’s all just a part of how some seemly human things, aren’t really human at all, the same way that dogs can bead with wolves, coyote to produce something that looks like a dog, but isn’t

  34. What’s finally going to unite US voters is what has always united them – wars and identifying new enemies. THIS is the real reason for the INTERNATIONAL Deep State’s crusade against Agent Orange. When AO talked about making nice with Russia during his presidential campaign and then, after his taking office, he went to Singapore and Helsinki for “summits” with Kim and Mr. Putin, that INTERNATIONAL Deep State’s Coup against AO shifted into high gear.

Why do I say this? Because the US economy LITERALLY CAN NOT AFFORD to let peace break out! VIP George Kennan explained exactly why just a few short years before the end of the Soviet Union. (What he said is even more true today.)
    ..
“Were the Soviet Union to sink tomorrow under the waters of the ocean, the American military-industrial establishment would have to go on, substantially unchanged, until some other adversary could be invented. Anything else would be an unacceptable shock to the American economy.”
    ..
The situation Kennan described has grown infinitely worse during the last 30 years. For at least the last 18 years, China and Russia have been rising economic and military powers. The very serious problem for the transnational US Elite is that USD hegemony is now being seriously challenged by those and other nations’ economies and their currencies AND their weapons. Things are no longer going completely the Superpower US’s way. China’s economy is perhaps even now larger than that of the US.
    ..
To boil it all down, we are living in the competition of all tribal competitions and the outcome of this “contest” will determine the role of the US economy in the world, as well as the ultimate fate of the Fed’s hundreds of trillions, perhaps quadrillions of printed-out-of-thin-air USD.
    ..
The US’s imposition of all these tariffs and “sanctions” and wars are absolute proof of the transnational US Elite’s and their Deep State’s flailing desperation to do only one thing –maintain USD hegemony in order to prevent Kennan’s “unacceptable shock to the American economy”. These measures will ultimately fail and, therefore the only really important question that remains is whether the increasingly-desperate US Elite will “go gentle into that good night” and develop a peace-based economy amidst near-certain economic/political/social chaos, or will this insane Elite “false-flag” the rest of the world into a no-win nuclear shootout at the OK Corral. The US Secretary of the Interior’s recent threat to perhaps use the US navy to blockade Russian exports, the US ambassador to NATO’s recent threat to “take out” Russian missiles on Russian soil, and the US’s decision to pull out of the INF treaty indicate that the shoot-out is being seriously considered.
    ..
Therefore, the one and the only “idea” that can possibly “unite the nation” is not only the MAINTENANCE of Russia and China as enemies, but the INTENSIFICATION of the PERCEPTION of these nations as enemies in the minds of the US bewildered herd of voters. Google “governmentcontractswon”; go to that site and see that in 2017, “private” businesses in the state of Virgina (population 8.4 million) were awarded 61,576 contracts worth $43.1 billion and that there are 17,165 “private” DoD contractors in Virginia, and that from 2000 to 2017 “private” DoD contractors in Virginia were awarded over $683.5 billion for 619,034 contracts. Therefore, no majority of voters in Virginia is EVER, and I do mean EVER, going to vote for a candidate who promises to destroy Virginia’s war-based economy and destroy many good-paying jobs. They’re going to vote for warmongers!
    ..
Virginia is not alone in the war business. Check out what “private” DoD contractors in other states such as California receive annually. It’s mind boggling.
    ..
Therefore, the US will NEVER, and I do mean NEVER, be politically capable of changing it’s “foreign policy” unless and until, once again with feeling, Virginians (Americans) are given an alternative to their present “war way” of making a living and no D or R candidate is spelling out such an alternative.
    ..
Again, IMO, we are going to see and INTESIFICATION of the already-intense anti-Russian rhetoric which may lead to a rabid anti-Russian candidate being elected president. Of course Mr. Putin will be watching what transpires in the US. What is he going to do if he sees a rabid anti-Russian elected president – say one who promises to force Russia and China to “come to heel” by the even-more-aggressive use of the US military power?
    ..
Americans’ choice is simple. Either somehow organize / design a peace-based economy, and that right soon, or suffer nuclear devastation.

    1. No choice. The people have no say in these matters.

    2. Well done Caitlin, a good read.

Considering both Tulsi’s and Clinton’s affiliation with the CFR (New York HQ), I am left wondering if this is kabuki theatre or a factional schism within the elite.

Regarding the former, the shear absurdity of mainstream Democratic talking points, not to mention MSM slavishness in repeating and amplifying their inanity, makes pretty much any sane and articulate person look reasonable in comparison. This view holds that a majority of the elite recognizes their warlike foreign policies have failed and must be changed, but they see Trump as a loose cannon and are looking to put someone more “reliable” in office.

The latter, on the other hand, echoes an elite split which occurred during the later years of the Vietnam War… and argues that a relatively powerful minority within the elite recognizes the damage the majority’s (composed of bipartisan neocons and neoliberals) savage foreign policies have done and an imminent danger posed by their continuance.

Which is accurate? Am leaning toward the latter, but cannot rule out the former, simply because it looks like a theatre of the absurd…

And well said Ish, but empires rarely die with a whimper. It took two world wars to lay the British Empire to rest, sort of… but vampires are hard to kill. City of London bankers turned immediately to their Wall Street cousins to salvage what they could, hence our “special” relationship.

For more on the CFR’s role in governance, see Thomas H. Dye’s sociological study “Who Is Running America”.

    3. Thanks Ishkabible,

  35. How did this nonsense get into your otherwise right-on commentary: “In reality, ‘Russian asset’ is nothing more than a completely meaningless noise that war pigs make with their face holes, no more coherent and communicative than the barking of a dog or the chattering of a squirrel?” Almost all the vocalizations of dogs, squirrels, birds, whales, et. al. are coherent and communicative in their own species-specific terms. Would that humans could communicate remotely as well or as coherently!

  36. When I was very young, in Boston, they told the kids that ” the evil witches were burned at the stake ” in Salem Massachusetts in colonial times. Ms Johnstone is much too kind to Ms Clinton here. I like what Ms Gaddard said:
“Thank you Hillary Clinton,” tweeted Ms Gabbard. “You, the queen of warmongers, embodiment of corruption, and personification of the rot that has sickened the Democratic Party for so long, have finally come out from behind the curtain.”

That is telling it like it is!

The full text of that Twitter riposte, spread across three tweets, is:

Great! Thank you @HillaryClinton. You, the queen of warmongers, embodiment of corruption, and personification of the rot that has sickened the Democratic Party for so long, have finally come out from behind the curtain. From the day I announced my candidacy, there has been a concerted campaign to destroy my reputation. We wondered who was behind it and why. Now we know — it was always you, through your proxies and powerful allies in the corporate media and war machine, afraid of the threat I pose. It’s now clear that this primary is between you and me. Don’t cowardly hide behind your proxies. Join the race directly.

And wouldn’t it be fabulous if Hillary did join the race? She’d split the Biden vote, putting Warren and Bernie in front, and I can only hope that the (to me, obvious) notion that Warren is an Obama 2.0 in the making — making empty progressive campaign promises that she has no intention whatsoever of actually fighting for — will dawn on enough voters to overcome the super-delegates’ near-certain second-round vote for Warren at the Convention.

Bernie is carrying a lot of very damning baggage, including his across-the-board Judas goatery throughout and following the 2016 elections, but there’s a considerably stronger likelihood that he will fight for true Medicare for All, free public-university tuition, and significantly more progressive taxation than Warren. As for most other major policy issues, it’s probably a wash. Anyway, if Bernie is the nominee, he would arguably be a viable lesser-of-evils choice and I might not have to “throw away” my vote on a third-party candidate I more fully respect and support next year.

(In 2016, I caucused for Bernie in the primaries and voted for Jill Stein in the general. Boy, do first-past-the-post and top-two voting systems ever suck. Not that it would have made a difference to me in 2016. Hillary was never getting my vote, not even if the Republicans had run a genetically engineered hybrid of Joseph Mengele, Augusto Pinochet, and Satan. That’s how vile and despicable I already found her. This latest smear is just a little extra garnish on the shit sandwich she’s been serving to America’s 99% — no, to the world’s 99% — for a long time.)

As for Tulsi, I love her outspoken opposition to régime-change wars, and I love that she backed Bernie in 2016 elections, but I’m veryskeptical of her commitment to single-payer Medicare for All, as well as of her willingness to cut the military-industrial complex down to its proper size. To be fair, I don’t think any of the Democratic really intend to do the latter. And to be honest, I believe Democratic Party leadership has been fully captured by the Fortune 500 (thanks in large part to Hillary and the rest of her DLC/”Third Way”/”New Democrat” ilk) and I don’t think the 99% can wrest it back from them. It needs to be scrapped and replaced by a Party that actually does represent the interests of ordinary Americans. But I don’t have enough years left on this Earth to see that even promise to possibly begin happening, and Bernie might be worth risking a final vote on if he turns out to be the nominee. (I’m all but certain that the Democratic Party and allied media will ensure that he doesn’t.) And Tulsi should keep speaking out against régime-change wars!

      1. A coward is a coward is a coward. Easier to be a bully through social media.

      2. Join the race? Not a chance. She can hardly walk. Killary is a total and complete embarassment to the female gender. With luck she’ll die soon. And no. I am not sorry for saying that.

      3. When asked, Tulsi Gabbard said she would not go third party… that was a mistake IMHO. This is a setup trick question designed to force a specific answer amounting basically to an “oath” before the media and electorate which plays directly into the manipulative hands of the globalist deepstate overlords. Trump faced such a question when Hillary asked him if he would “accept the outcome of the election” but he did not take that bait, knowing as he does just how fully corrupt his opponents are. Obviously, Hillary and her handlers never had any intention of accepting her obvious overwhelming defeat at the hands of the “deplorable” US electorate and Hillary herself therefore never made such an “oath”. On the other hand, on a national level TG makes for a better Republican than Democrat anyway.

      4. Or they’ll bypass the rules and just GIVE Hillary the nom again. It’s not like Democrat voters have a clue about anything. They’ll just repeat the mantra and bleat like sheep

    2. I agree w/you except that no witches were burned at the stake in Salem. They were hanged, except for Giles Corey, who was pressed to death. As far as I know, no witches were burned in the U.S. They WERE burned in Europe.

  37. If you vote Dem or Rep you are insane.

    1. “I am Defiance Demon and I endorse that message.”

  38. I think it’s safe to say that Hillary Clinton is a Goldman Sachs asset and a Raytheon asset and a Lockheed-Martin asset etc. And why is she back in the news spreading malicious lies? Must be because the neoliberal, war-loving establishment feels threatened, and they’re dragging out the old hag to stir up a controversy over a non-fact. Props to Tulsi for punching her right in the face.

The old hag (already WAAAAY past her “use by” date) would rather drink a diarrhea shake and die than face Gabbard in a true face-to-face debate.

  39. Certainly Epstein corrupted Hillary’s husband Bill. Wonder what dark secrets Bill told Epstein in order to not be compromised.

    1. I think that Tulsi and anyone else smeared in this way by whats-her-name should respond much forcefully, gutter-language-style, to hopefully force the bloody bitch to STFU. I believe that most intelligent people would not mind hearing what they themselves might say. For example, I think that “do you believe what that crazy c..t is saying now?! She’s obviously gone batshit crazy!” might not be overstating what most sane people would be thinking to themselves right now.

  40. From this point forward, I will now refer to Hillary and the rest of the pro-war, pro-torture, pro-banker, anti-democracy, anti-freedom, corporate Democrats as “Wall Street Assets”. I could also call them “MIC Assets” (pronounced “McAssets”), but they wouldn’t understand and it would confuse their poor little brains.

  41. In the opening bit, it appears that Ancient Hillary is logically inconsistent. She claims that both Tulsi (whom I’ve contributed to) and Dr. Jill Stein (whom I’ve voted for) are both Russian assets. Then she claims that Dr. Stein might not give up the highly coveted Green Party slot because she is a Russian asset. And yet, if they were really both Russian assets, the Dr. Stein would follow the orders from Moscow and give up the coveted Green Party slot to Rep. Gabbard. To say both that Dr. Stein is a Russian asset and that she won’t give up the coveted Green Party nomination is a logical inconsistency in Ancient Hillary’s clearly faltering logic.

    1. “Ancient Hillary”? “Logic”?? Does not compute.

Those two concepts, alone, are quite sufficient to cause disastrous cognitive dissonance.

  42. Hillary and her minions made wild accusations with no proof whatsoever against Congresswoman Gabbard. On the other hand Tulsi does have proof that Hillary is in bed with the Russians. Two words “Uranium One”. Hillary arranged for the sale of 20% of America’s uranium assets after she used the U.S. governments clout to seize the land from a Wyoming rancher and sell it to the Russians. I know all this because I was one of the minor shareholders of Uranium One (450 shares) and she basically stole about $4,000 out of my back pocket when the company went private. So when you hear people call her of example “Hell on Earth Hillary” believe it. When Hillary dies, she going to have a real problem. There’s no way on Earth that she’s going to Heaven and if I were Satan I wouldn’t let her in down there either. I would be too afraid she’d try to take over.

    1. A friend of mine said the same thing about Roger Stone. No way he’s going to heaven and Satan will block him from entering hell. Not because he is afraid Stone would try to take over, but that Stone is too odious even for hell.

All of this is assuming Stone actually has a soul.

      1. This is veering off-topic and not really consistent with the “too odious for hell” meme, but one of my favorite quips after Margaret Thatcher’s death was from a British comedian who said that instead of wasting millions of pounds on a lavish state funeral, the government should instead buy a shovel for every man, woman, and child in Britain so they could dig a hole to Hell and hand Thatcher over to Satan personally…

    2. what many are overlooking here is the bait being taken of those evil russians being more dangerous than any other competitive country. I, for one, am mucho tired of the Ruskie enemy myth.

    1. Good point. And almost no one will acknowledge it for that same reason.

  44. Tulsi’s response was spot on. She’s done taking this shit. She’s the only one honest enough to call out the old hag.
