There has been a military coup in Bolivia backed by violent right-wing  rioters and the US government, but you’d hardly know this from any of the mainstream media headlines.

“Bolivian President Evo Morales steps down following accusations of election fraud” proclaims CNN.

“Bolivia’s Morales resigns amid scathing election report, rising protests” reports The Washington Post.

“Bolivian Leader Evo Morales Steps Down” says The New York Times.

“Bolivian President Evo Morales resigns amid fraud poll protests” declares the BBC.

“President of Bolivia steps down amid allegations of election rigging” we are informed by Telegraph.

“Bolivia’s President Morales resigns after backlash to disputed election” says the Sydney Morning Herald.

So there you have it. The indigenous leader of a socialist South American government which has successfully lifted masses of people out of crushing poverty, which happens to control the world’s largest reserves of lithium (which may one day replace oil as a crucial energy resource due to its use in powering smartphones, laptops, hybrid and electric cars), which has an extensive and well-documented history of being targeted for regime change by the US government, simply stepped down due to some sort of scandal involving a “disputed election”. Nothing to do with the fact that right-wing mobs had been terrorizing this leader’s family, or the fact that the nation’s military literally commanded him to step down and are now currently searching for him to arrest him, leading to ousted government officials being rounded up and held captive by soldiers wearing masks.

All perfectly normal and not suspicious at all.

As is usual, mass media’s reporting on this story is in full alignment with the US State Department, with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo also advancing the “disputed election” line in a tweet shortly before the forced resignation of Morales. Pompeo cited the evidence-free and discredited allegation of suspicious vote tallies during Morales’ re-election last month from the Washington-based Organization of American States (OAS). As Mark Weisbrot of the Center for Economic & Policy Research explains in a recent article for The Nation, the OAS receives 60 percent of its funding from Washington, which gives the US tremendous leverage over the supposedly neutral and international body. This ties in interestingly with what we discussed the other day about Washington’s known history of using its disproportionate financial support for the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons as leverage to force that supposedly neutral and international body to comply with US agendas.

The field of narrative management keeps making more and more advances.

The US-centralized empire just keeps throwing coup attempts at unabsorbed governments until they stick. The coup in Venezuela failed in 2002 and again in 2019, but they’ll just keep attempting them until one takes hold. A kickboxer throws strikes in combinations with the understanding that most attacks will miss or do minimal damage against a trained opponent, but eventually one will get through and score the knockout blow. Imperialist regime change agendas employ the same punches-in-bunches philosophy: just keep attacking and undermining at every possible turn, and eventually something will stick.

And the empire can afford to do this. When you have all the power and resources, you can bide your time, knowing that if the current attempt at toppling the government in a sovereign nation fails, there’s always tomorrow.

At a United Nations Security Council meeting last year, President Morales summed up the true nature of America’s role in the world very accurately, and, it turns out, very presciently.

“I would like to say to you, frankly and openly here, that in no way is the United States interested in upholding democracy,” Morales said. “If such were the case it would not have financed coups d’etat and supported dictators. It would not have threatened with military intervention democratically elected governments as it has done with Venezuela. The United States could not care less about human rights or justice. If this were the case, it would have signed the international conventions and treaties that have protected human rights. It would not have threatened the investigation mechanism of the International Criminal Court, nor would it promote the use of torture, nor would it have walked away from the Human Rights Council. And nor would it have separated migrant children from their families, nor put them in cages.”

“The United States is not interested in multilateralism,” Morales continued. “If it were interested in multilateralism it would not have withdrawn from the Paris Agreement or given the cold shoulder to the global compact on migration, it would not have launched unilateral attacks, nor have taken decisions such as illegally declaring Jerusalem to be the capital of Israel. This contempt for multilateralism is motivated by the thirst of the United States for political control and for the seizing of natural resources.”

“Each time that the United States invades nations, launches missiles, or finances regime change, it does so behind a propaganda campaign which incessantly repeats the message that it is acting in the course of justice, freedom and democracy, in the cause of human rights or for humanitarian reasons,” Morales also said.

“The responsibility of our generation is to hand over a fairer and more secure world to the following generation,” Morales concluded. “We will only achieve this dream if we work together to consolidate a multipolar world, a world with common rules that are respected by and defended from all the threats ranged against the United Nations.”

Indeed, the only reason the US is able to wage its endless campaign of regime change agendas against unabsorbed governments is because the unipolar world order it rules has allowed it the power, resources and leisure to do so. A multipolar world would enable the citizenry of this planet to have a say in what happens to them in a way that is not dictated by a few sociopaths in and around Washington, DC. A multipolar world is to democracy as a unipolar world is to monarchy. The citizens of the world should oppose this unipolarity.

  1. I chuckle wondering if a certain ex-President mispronounces the word “coup” as he so famously did with “corpsman”. We do realize of course that the mainstream media never dared mention that minor display of ignorance while had Target Drone Trump done so it would have played across all forms of media well into the future.

  2. Since Tim and Caitlin have written about Twitter and the purging of dissident and their accounts, I thought they might be interested in this story. They probably already saw it, but its always good to share in case people haven’t.
Telesur is reporting that 4492 Twitter accounts were created in 2 days as a part of the Bolivian coup. These accounts have zero or one follower, and were used to agitate against President Morales. There were over 3300 such accounts participating in one hashtag.
No mention in the story as to whether the reporter contacted Twitter about all of these frequently fraudulent accounts being used to ‘meddle’ in a countries politics. Twitter doesn’t seem to have announced any mass purges of users in the last day or so.

    —————
No surprise there. We know by now that the Big Social Media works closely with the Deep State. So, its no surprise that operations that have CIA or MI6 written all over them have lots of fake accounts with no mass purges occurring. But its always useful to have another proven instance as yet another dot to connect.
    —————
Either someone made those accounts in a big hurry, or its someone who either doesn’t know what they are doing or doesn’t care if they do a good job. Creating the accounts with zero or just one follower (probably created with zero but one useful idiot has signed on) is just sloppy and unprofessional.

  3. Vijay Prashad lays it all out about why the neoliberal NWO engineered the coup in Bolivia:

Turns out the criminals who plotted the coup were School of America’s grads, who were also trained by the FBI. I hope they were there while I was protesting outside the gates of the SOA and giving them the finger.

Hey. This is the Weekend they are protesting there. If you are anywhere in the southeast USA, get to Columbus, GA. I have a lot of fond memories of protesting there, and this story that the Bolivian Coup adds to the crimes of SOA grads makes it important, still.

      1. Might want to keep an eye out for LiveStreams and such of the protests. Dang sure CNN won’t cover it, even though its an easy drive from their Atlanta HQ.
        ————-
It was at these protest one year that I learned first hand that the corporate media always cuts the crowd size at protests in half. I was volunteering as a citizen journalist with an anarchist crew. I saw a collegue over interviewing the Columbus Chief of Police along with some corporate media. I went over to snap some pictures and overheard them. The Chief was asked to estimate the crowd size. He gave it as 15,000, more or less. Not too bad I thought. I’d been on stage taking pictures, and I’d have said 20,000. The next day, the AP and all the national media ran the crowd size as “7,500”. That is an interesting number, as any human would say 7 or 8 thousand if that was their estimate, not the exact 7500. However, 7500 is exactly what you get if you typed 15000 into a calculator and divided by two. So, that’s what they all did, and I know it because I was listening to the Chief of Police when he gave his estimate.

  5. A clear lesson is here for all who want any Real Change. In anyplace where America has any power or influence, even in a country where an opposition leader has been in power for awhile, winning an election is not enough. Its become Standard Operating Proceedure to claim Fraud, and use that to put rioters into the streets to overturn the Election results. And of course the Far Right in the Military and the Police can always be counted on to attack the People.
    ————-
I’m not saying that elections are a waste, and I’m definitely not in the crowd who tries to con people into Not Voting so they support the Oligarchs by their absence. But, it is very obvious that the struggle does not end with the election. And that if the People want to take back power from the Oligarchs and their Minions, they best be prepared to fight after they vote to secure the election results. And note, the ‘Fight’ can be Non-Violent. But only if the Dark Side is willing to be respect that.

    1. The lesson would be, don’t put term limits in your revolutionary Constitution without a better override plan than a 50%+1 referendum and/or stacked court.

Chavez worked out a far better plan to foil foreign interference even a Maduro could carry out.

      1. I remember when Newt and the Republicans were all in favor of term limits. That was back when they hadn’t controlled Congress in ages. Then the Republicans won elections and decided that term limits weren’t so great after all. But hey, I’d vote for forcing Mitch McConnell to flee the country 🙂 And I’d sure has heck would have helped to make John McCain flee the country.

      2. The mistakes the Leftists always make is that they are too nice. They always just let the right build and organize and plot. The only ones to get it right were Castro and Che. They’d been in Guatemala when there was a brief outbreak of freedom and democracy in the 1950’s, and they saw what happened. Thus Castro and Che knew better how to hold off the CIA and the Mafia.

  6. I noticed one thing, which should on the surface be very unusual. I tend to read the Guardian for news headlines. Yes, I know it is crap, and heavily slanted, but I’ve been enjoying the Brexit debacle.
What Caitliin and Tim just quoted as the story on ‘The Telegraph’ is exactly the spin put on the same story in ‘The Guardian’. Which is odd, because The Telegraph and The Guardian are supposed to be polar opposites on the political spectrum. The Telegraph is far right wing, supports Boris Johnson, although I’d suspect they’d secretly agree that BJ is way too liberal for their tastes. Meanwhile, The Guardian goes for the Liberal side of the spectrum. Basically The News that Tony Blair says you can read, but even one or two Corbyn supporters included for variety.
And yet they both ran exactly the same spin on this story. I had to look twice at Caitlin and Tim’s piece because they quoted The Guardian headline and they said it was from The Telegraph.
Just goes to show that when MI-6 tells them what story to run, both run it exactly as written.

  7. neolibs and neocons have all come to sabotage your blogsphere. you must be doing it right and effective., Caitlin.

  8. There is no way a socialist is interest in democracy

    1. i know, you 5th grade social studies teacher taught you that capitalism = democracy and socialism/communism = dictatorship, correct? and you got A for that class, i bet.

      1. These days, Socialist societies are more democratic that Democratic societies.
        ————–
Democracy is defined as when the sovereign power of the nation is held by the people. That’s the definition. Yet, it today’s Democracies, the power is held by the Oligarchs. What the people want doesn’t matter, even when they figure out what they want through the blizzard of Lies pushed out by the Oligarchs. Ivy League Political Scientists have studied America and documented thousands of issues where the Oligarchs get what they want and what the people want doesn’t matter.
In comparision, the Socialist nations all seem to have at least some sort of bottom-up communication of needs and wants from the people up into the government. Some work better than others, none work perfectly. But it appears that for ordinary people the chances of having even a little bit of the power to make decisions in your own common, ordinary hands is infinitely higher in Socialist nations than in Democratic nations. Since it is Zero in the Democratic nations, anything divided by Zero is Infinity.

  9. Um, a quick check on the internet indicates Morales has exceeded his Constitutional Presidential term limits, and an attempt to legalize lifting term limits was rejected in a national referendum. The Bolivian Constitutional Court then overruled the referendum and said Morales could stand for re-election.

Look, if Morales was a right wing dictator, what would be the reaction be to that? There would be cheering in the forums for order restored. Why is everyone claiming a miscarriage of justice? A real right wing coup would have installed a right wing dictator, not demanded new elections.

Morales is endangering his democracy by having no succession plan to elevate an able, trustworthy successor ready to replace him and his cadre. This is the Achilles heel of Lat Am democracies. Actually, few democracies seem to handle succession well anymore, at least if the preceeding government was any good.

Canada went from authoritarian Harper to blackface boy Trudeau.

Succession problems ruined the accomplishments of Lula in Brazil; Rouseff was incompetent and could not tame corruption. Correa in Ecuador was succeeded by the turncoat Moreno. The only solution, is to have a President for Life and to heck with the law? That can’t be right.

Putin in Russia at least cleverly delayed succession problems by swapping places with Medvedev for a term. Legally gaming the rules avoided a Constitutional crisis, but does not guarantee liberal democratic processes will find and smoothly install successors to one of the most stellar Russian governments in history.

In the U.S., the same Deep State brain trust that instigated colour revolution in Ukraine, subsequently losing Crimea and two rounds of civil war, plunging that country into armed stalemate and failed state status, is running an impeachment coup against Trump – and there are cheers from the supposedly progressive gallery?

C’mon. This is as bad as having an entitlement child sailing the world in a yacht screaming about how climate change ruined her childhood and we need more taxes instead of to iron fertilize the open ocean.

Scientists say the human brain has been growing smaller over time; we appear to be living the effects.

    1. The Bolivian supreme court has the CONSTITUTIONAL AUTHORITY to make such a ruling.

Notice, Morales didn’t employ the military to assume another term. He went to the courts.

      1. You’re missing the point; the democratic process is a group decision-making process, not a winner-takes-all game.

The terms cap was adopted by the Bolivian People in 2009, during Morales’ first term. The terms cap was then narrowly backed backed by the Bolivian people in a 2016 Constitutional referendum.

Going to court may have been legal, but not in the spirit of Morales’ own legacy to presume the court over the heads of the people.

    2. you must be a true believer of Trumphism… or a neolib who fakes rage against Trump…

      1. I support Trump’s antiwar efforts and oppose efforts to remove him by kangaroo impeachment.

I oppose irrational political partisanship generally as obnoxious if not toxic to democracy.

You would appear to support… other values.

    3. You, are simply, wrong. In every way. No need to waste any further words over your scribblings.

      1. Such feelings as yours and opinions as mine are why we need a democratic process, not mob rule or opportunistic force, to examine problems and explore solutions to decide upon.

Morales leaves a country mired in partisan violence and vulnerable to malign actors by not supporting the democracy he fostered. Endangered are not only his material and legal accomplishments, but his place as a role model for future leaders.

  10. How many times **a day** does the MSM avoid the word COUP?
    .
A few hours ago the New York Times published an article entitled:
What Joe Biden Actually Did in Ukraine
    .
You would be right to expect that the article is an exercise in spin, but even the most jaded will crack a smile and/or vomit at this particular carnival teacup ride.
    .
    https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/what-joe-biden-actually-did-in-ukraine/ar-BBWysPD?li=AA2dnLi
    .
As expected, or rather as guaranteed, the article tells us nothing about the US sponsored COUP that brought neo-Nazis to power and caused the democratically elected President of Ukraine to flee for his life. No, they will repeat it a million times, salient Ukrainian history begins just as the first paragraph of this NYT article reminds us for the millionth time:
    .
“When Russia invaded Ukraine in early 2014”
    .
In the current McCarthyist state of fever, being militant against Russia is a presidential asset worth selling to consumers of the NYT narrative. Biden is a bold leader. The first and second paragraphs continue:
    .
“When Russia invaded Ukraine in early 2014, Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. pressed President Barack Obama to take decisive action, and fast, to make Moscow “pay in blood and money” for its aggression. The president, a Biden aide recalled, was having none of it.
    .
Mr. Biden worked Mr. Obama during their weekly private lunches, imploring him to increase lethal aid, backing a push to ship FGM-148 Javelin anti-tank missiles to Kiev. The president flatly rejected the idea and dispatched him to the region as an emissary, cautioning him “about not overpromising to the Ukrainian government,” Mr. Biden would later write in a memoir.”
    .
(Did you chuckle when you read that by the NYT’s so-called “account” Obama rejected Biden’s blood-thirsty diarrhea but then thought Biden instead would make a fine emissary. I mean wtf.)
    .
If you can stand it, read more of the article, it’s a free country.

    1. Free country, yeah. Politicians are so cheap… but the voters, good grief the voters…

Yes, this is yet another Made in the USA Coup D’etat–dressed up behind America’s usual lies about championing “freedom and democracy” or similar bullsh!t.

Some of the tell-tale signs of this coup are:

–The American regime including the Trump Cabal and Congressional right wingers like Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz, and its mouthpieces like Fox News are all cheer-leading the ouster of Morales.

–The self-styled American Free Press in general is tacitly supporting this coup d’etat by not denouncing it as a coup and also parroting the Organization of American States” (OAS) dubious accusations that Morales’ election was not legitimate. The OAS itself is a glorified American hand-puppet to dominate and control Latin America.

–And of course the hordes of American internet trolls/bots are crawling out of the woodwork to deny and deflect guilt away from America’s dirty hand in yet another US regime change operation.

Ultimately, the American Empire’s is waging what even Tulsi Gabbard admitted are US “Regime Change Wars” around the planet–from Iraq to Libya to Syria to Venezuela to Nicaragua to Hong Kong to Bolivia.

    1. Morales exceeded his term limits. If he were a right-wing dictator, we’d be cheering the army for restoring order.

While there’s no doubt the U.S. Deep State had a hand, its not like they weren’t exploiting a glaring flaw in the Bolivian democratic process.

Succession in democracies needs to be addressed more carefully than fudging electoral fraud with a partisan cheering contest and more rule breaking.

Even had Morales been a morally legal President, there is still the problem he has no-one to take his place in an orderly transfer of power. Succession is inevitable; even the best leaders age and are mortal.

      1. get lost will ya? this is not your junkyard.

        USA-ma Bin Laden

Morales was able to run for election again because the Bolivian Supreme Court overturned the 2016 referendum, which he narrowly lost. His presidential campaign not illegal, as you insinuate.

If Morales were a right-wing dictator, he would have not been regime changed by the Land of the Free or the Bolivian military to begin with. Instead, the United States would be touting him as an exemplar of “market democracy.”

And you are only telling a half truth that the American “deep state” was behind this coup. It was the American Empire in general, including the Trump Regime and Right Winger congressman like Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz, who have their dirty hands on this coup.

If the so-called American Deep State is involved in this coup, why is Trump–a supposed “enemy” of the Deep State–openly and unabashedly praising this coup?

  12. I thought coups were the norm for south america. Practice ground for a north American coup. We are watching it in action now.

    1. If only.

The same Deep State brain trust that broke Ukraine in a colour revolution supported by neo-nazis is now running the impeachment coup against Trump.

      1. Hilaryous. Who makes this stuff up for ya?
        —————
Of course, in reading the beginning of Tim and Caitlin’s excellent piece, it of course struck me that the only time one sees the word “coup” in Mainstreem Media these days is the Trumper Thumpers screaming in pain that the Constitution is being upheld for once.

        1. Oh, well, now the partisan left embraces the Constitution.

The partisan right has a head start misinterpreting it, so study hard.

  13. Perfect example of crowd psychology. Note: The guy suspended the vote count because he was not wining by a large enough margin to prevent a runoff election, and declared himself the winner. That’s ok for left-wing socialists, I guess.

    1. The right wing dictators for life set a bad example.

      1. More victims of the Western propaganda MSM machine.

        1. I’d feel sorry for them, except they are in the process of killing everyone on Earth and destroying human civilization. What do you do with people who want to kill you with their delusions and insanity?

          1. Ignorant, aggressive Us vs Them bull is destroying civilisation.

  14. There wasn’t even any evidence of any electoral mischief:

    http://cepr.net/press-center/press-releases/no-evidence-that-bolivian-election-results-were-affected-by-irregularities-or-fraud-statistical-analysis-shows

By speaking so honestly at that Security Council Meeting last year, Evo probably set regime change plans in turbo gear. The election was obviously going to be the opportunity for mayhem.

I am also incredibly saddened by what is going on now in Bolivia. Can’t think of any more caring and likeable head of State than Evo Morales (equal to Pepe Mujica, but he isn’t head of state any longer). Perhaps he shouldn’t have stood for the 4th mandate, but I can understand why he did. I hope that the Bolivian people can find a way to stand up to and defeat this outrageous coup – and without too much bloodshed for them…

  15. Now your just publishing your own biased anti-American propaganda. Shame on you. He is a Corrupt socialist that shut down voting to win an election. And the people didn’t like it.

    1. As I said in my comment below “watch all the paid trolls come out to stick the boot into Evo Morales”.
How many countries has the United States Govt bombed, invaded, droned, overthrown Govts, interfered in the elections of other countries, assassinated leaders, staged coups, on and on. 55? 65?
Perhaps you should wake up to the fact the United States is the world’s biggest rogue terrorist state. Do you know what the Monroe Doctrine is? ‘Anti American propaganda’. Jesus wept.

      1. Oh good to know. So that means your BS smells better? HAHAHA

        1. Just some of the countries the great ‘beacon of democracy’ the United States has interfered in or bombed or invaded or used proxy terrorists:
Grenada, Nicaragua, Honduras, Panama, Brazil, Dominican Republic, Guatemala, El Salvador, Greece, Italy, Iraq, Iran, Syria, Libya, Indonesia, East Timor, Uruguay, Chile, Congo, Venezuela, Lebanon, Ecuador, Afghanistan, Philippines, Angola, Mozambique, Ukraine, Yemen… and that’s just part of the list off the top of my head.
But people like you couldn’t give a flying fig how many millions have died as a direct result of the actions of the United States and its vassals. I can almost see you waving your little flag robotically chanting USA… USA…. USA…. How sad.

    2. Did you mean “anti-propagandized America”? In what lala land do you live in which you find a government that is NOT corrupt?

    3. When they ransack the presidents house, it’s a coup. When they arrest the two people that were responsible for overseeing the vote counting, and wear masks while doing so, it’s a coup.

      1. When they shoot protesters against election fraud that’s socialism. Since when are we against democracy? When the socialist is losing?

  16. Bernie stays silent about this US crime. Rep Omar, Jeremy Corbyn, George Galloway, Chomsky, etc already condemned the coup and the Deep State’s role.

    1. Michael Weddington Avatar
      Michael Weddington

      So has Sanders.

      1. not quite. “it looks like a coup, and we shouldn’t support violence” is not exactly a condemnation of the imprialist coup.

  17. Well done, Caitlin, as usual. Exposing the lies is very important work, as Julian Assange clearly demonstrated. The evil of the U.S. government, and the sociopaths that steer it, is truly disgusting. We are deceived by false narratives from the controlled media and thereby programmed to be obedient workers, as George Carlin succinctly put it. Your truthful narrative exposing the con is highly valuable and necessary. Thank you for your vital service.

  18. I suppose it is surprising in this new millenium that Mr. Morales was not previously attacked so severely. Bolivia’s history is a nearly unbroken string of western exploitation beginning int he XVI Century by Spain, which financed its colonial empire with Bolivian silber, at the cost of millions of lives. Source: “Some writers such as Eduardo Galeano, in his work Open Veins of Latin America, estimates that up to eight million have died in the Cerro Rico since the 16th century.” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cerro_Rico

According to the tour guide when I visited, enslaved indigenous people were forced to work in the underground mines and enslaved Africans were forced to smelt the ore. Miners were supposed to have to work 30 days in the mine, then their service was over. But how does a miner working underground know when 30 days have past? Essentially, being sent to work underground meant the worker would work their until they died of malnourishment and overwork.

Silver smelting at high altitude was accomplished by essentially boiling the ore in mercury and skimming the silver off of the top of the boiling pot. So the workers died of mercury poisoning from the fumes of the smelting operation. Millions of them. This is what the godly westerners did to save the souls of the indigenous people, and to enrich their monarchs. This is what the 1% would like to do to us today. Roll back regulations – such as how much mercury fumes we can be exposed to, and what safety equipment must be in place to control the fumes – or any safety regulations in the workplace. Workers lives don’t matter, profits do.

Mr. Morales made a name for himself organizing opposition to US coca eradication programs – coca (not refined cocaine) being customarily used as a folk remedy for a variety of ailments and legal in Bolivia. This, of course, did not sit well with the US drug warriors. See the film Cocalero (2007) https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0925230/reference

Then Mr. Morales led protests against the US puppet regime for its plan to sell natural gas for transport to California, as was being negotiated by the predecessor. US educated Gonzalo Sánchez de Lozada was forced to resign amid the protests and Mr. Carlos Mesa (the current US puppet opposition leader) succeeded him as president. Mr. Morales won against a list of presidential candidates that included Mr. Mesa in 2005. But now, the US has its opportunity to meddle in Bolivian affairs and overturn the will of the Bolivian people, so they do. After all, what interest has the US in reducing poverty and raising per capita GDP in one of the poorest nations in the western hemisphere when there is socialism about, and lithium, control of which will be essential if American oligarchs are to make huge new profits on any “Green New Deal” compromise that Senator McConnell may allow to come to a vote. Lithium being essential to the current generation of electrical storage batteries. And if American oligarchs aren’t going to receive the bulk of the profits, the US government has no interest in less rapacious development.

This is only scratching the surface of the US backed corruption and control of Bolivia.

  19. And the ” Evil Empire ” does it again and again: regime changes are its stock in trade.

  20. I thought the carter foundation determined if world elections are fair? As in jimmy carter, ex us pres. some body, controlled 60% by the US should not get a say. And last point, 3.5% of the population is supposed to bring a about a tipping point. Does not even that amount of us read independent news?

  21. You’re absolutely right, Caitlin. Morelos “resigned” with a gun, paid for by the US, pointed at his head.

  22. You can also add the ABC to that list of stenographers as well Caitlin. Arch psychopath Mike Pompeo seems very pleased with himself also.
And watch all the paid trolls come out to stick the boot into Evo Morales. Since hearing this news few hours ago, have been feeling pretty deflated. This crap just goes on and on and on.
The vile Hegemon will crush any leader or country that shows that a kinder, more equitable, more humane way is possible.
The threat of the Good Example.
How many dozens of countries has the United States interfered in now? How many military coups has it supported in Bolivia along with everywhere else?
The Monroe Doctrine is alive and well.

  23. Hopefully, very soon now, these filthy things here in the U.S. that runs every thing will soon be dispatched to another place where their kind can enjoy a different kind of place made up entirely of things like themselves. Unfortunately, I saw a friend of nearly 20 years retrograde into a sort of totally ignorant fascist 24/7 hate speech individual just for the money that they gave her. These things are like poisonous plants that spread their dreaded disease throughout all the world. Hopefully, by 2020, all these dreaded hateful things will be nothing but a bad memory.

  24. I suspect China may be behind this one as they signed an enormous trade deal within hours of the coup..for lithium. The new player in town is going to be as bad as the US.

    1. I’m not sure I trust China fully, but they do seem to want a world where they have well off trading partners, with them at the centre. It’s a lot better than anything the US ever offers!

  25. More info on who’s behind this coup in an article by Stephen Lendman, written two days ago. All going according to the CIA handbook so far.

    https://21stcenturywire.com/2019/11/09/us-plot-new-coup-detat-to-oust-bolivian-president-evo-morales/

    1. Thanks Robyn. Havn’t looked at 21st Century Wire for ages, but Stephen Lendman is definately trustworthy. He writes for Global Research as well I believe. Just sod these fecken jackbooted bastards Robyn. Imperialism and Empire and Greed.

  26. Oh no where are the mullahs going to import there cocaine from now …
At least I’ll have a guarantee supply line for my lithium battery Che Guevara doll

  27. VERY sad day for me and for Bolivia. I’ve admired Morales since he won the 2006 election, sat up to watch every minute of his inauguration. I knew they would come after him, surprised he lasted this long. The only hope is that the people will see off the traitors they way the Venezuelans have done for Chavez and Maduro.

  28. In the U S we love our dictators. That’s why we put God on our money.
God is a dictator. If you don’t do exactly as He says and kowtow to Him He will burn your ass in Hell for all of eternity.

    However long an eternity is.

    1. The Western concept of God was formed by a Millennium of dictators and war lords using religion to oppress their people. It is not an accident that the ancient Narrative uses exactly the same word for God as for the Lord of the Castle.

      1. Dictators and warlords even of the priestly kind usually aren’t smart enough for philosophy.

They probably stole what they needed and made stuff up to fill the holes.

        1. True that. Large portions of Christianity are based on the local indigenous religions that are now smeared as “Pagan”. Easter and Eostre for instance. Christmas being on the Winter Solstice which was always a ceremony of celebrating the Birth of the new year and thus one of refreshing hope for better things to come.
