Among the constant deluge of police brutality footage flooding the internet as America’s armed goon patrol responds to the Black Lives Matter protests across the nation, there is one video which stands out above all the others in illustrating just how pervasively violent police culture is. Curiously enough, this video itself contains no police brutality.

The video clip in question shows the outside of the Buffalo City Courthouse, where members of the police and fire unions awaited the two officers who hospitalized a 75 year-old peace activist named Martin Gugino by shoving him to the ground. When the two officers exited the courthouse, released on their own recognizance, and were met with applause from the crowd.

“Two police officers were charged with felony assault during a protest in Buffalo, and they were applauded by their colleagues as they left the courthouse,” MSNBC reports as its footage shows a large gathering clapping and whistling enthusiastically.

This, right here, is a sign of a culture that cannot be redeemed. A police culture which makes no secret of the fact that cops as a collective will consistently support the most self-evidently unjustifiable acts of brutality committed by their own.

This video emerges after 57 Buffalo police resigned from their department’s Emergency Response Team (just the team, not from the department itself) in protest of the suspension of the two officers who’d been recorded assaulting an old man without the slightest provocation. It emerges after the Buffalo Police Department was caught lying that Gugino had “tripped and fell” before footage surfaced showing Gugino being shoved hard and smashing his skull on the pavement. This police department could not possibly have made it more clear to the public that they unconditionally support one another in their viciousness and savagery.

This is far more damning than any of the many, many video clips circulating that demonstrate irrefutably how police and their apologists have already lost the debate on this matter. It makes a lie of the widespread narrative that this is just a minor problem caused by a few bad apples while the “vast majority” (to quote the 44th president) are good people who uphold their duty to protect and serve the community.

Clearly that is not the case. Clearly. The reality is that most police stand by other police, even when they are undeniably in the wrong. That is not what good people do. That is not what people who have any intention whatsoever of ever doing anything about police brutality do. That is what people who intend to perpetuate a violent and increasingly militarized police force forever do.

This isn’t working. Police culture cannot be saved, and has no interest in being saved. In the eyes of the armed goon patrol, it’s the people complaining about police brutality who are the problem. That’s why the response to them has been consistent and copious amounts of police brutality.

This is not a matter of passing a few more pieces of legislation. This is not a matter of giving police more workshops and seminars. This is not a matter of needing more police to take a knee during protests or march with them in solidarity. This is a matter of an entire police force, from sea to shining sea, which insists on the gratuitous use of violence and will defend any cop who uses it.

The problem, as we’ve discussed previously, is that those in power have no intention of ever departing with the violent goon patrol which gives them the ability to brutalize the public if they get out of line. Many of them are providing lip service to solidarity and listening and understanding right now, but make no mistake: the mainstream rank-and-file public awakening to the reality that they live in a militarized authoritarian police state was not in the script, and they are getting very nervous about its implications.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out, to say the least.

In a country that killed the residing inhabitants with impunity… The revolution of 1775, here in the land of the “FREE”, let us consider all imperialism unjust! Red men killed in the name of religious and non-religious institutionalized mind sets, the right of might! It makes no difference that the Machiavellians that run the world order will stay in power at any cost, imperialism breeds greed, as the red men were controlled with treaties the imperialist never kept for long ,when it meant gold was to be had in their territory, or some other valuable commodity wanted by the parasitical religious order of the money changers… They were run of or killed if they resisted.
How is it, as the story goes, long ago, a myth of a temple and a particular sect of people exchanging goods and such, were thrown out in the name of spiritual unclean mental practices of spiritual carnal worship. Using the worship house as a mall of capitalism. These same people are with us today… Yet many are so brainwashed with imperialistic dogmas, their minds conditioned from birth, in a non-critical educational format… We have a society of human zombies that cannot find the golden rule in the maze of distorted fictions we all believe, because our blindness is formatted from birth. You can tell me, not all people, do not follow the conditioned state of materialistic formats in a competitive game of winner takes all… but for the slave that works under the lords of futility, change is impossible, because the educated are all suffering from the same mental distortions of psychological disorders in a cognitive process of inhuman spiritual contexts. History is validated through the Pharisee-Sadducee mythology of good and evil… what is evil for some is good for others, and killing those that do not agree is written as a good thing to do in such a spiritual context…
Author, Michael Hoffman’s works of such unhuman nature, is bound in the work and study of the Babylonian Talmud… called “Judaism Discovered” This mentality has been thought to Jew and non-Jew alike… It is the works of years of human interaction with false spiritual practices that pit humans against humans on a spiritual and cognitive level… The mind is a terrible thing to see in a wasteland of deceptive precepts that have been affecting us for millennia … Those that use the magic it teaches, controls the imperialistic state of greed and competitive take without recompense, and destroys the land and environment that kills with impunity as we see in the middle east… Walls to protect the violent killers that use the very choke hold thought to USA police.
When will we wake up from the sleep of sheep that follow the duality of deception taught to us from birth?

  2. caitlin, i cannot say i agree with you. Police, military and other such groups stick together right or wrong. They see it as themselves against the world. Their entire code is based on trust and support. It is their glue so to speak. If they do wrong. They discipline their own.
Applauding was not saying you did good so much as we support you. We dont turn on our own. I hope cities disband their policr departments so you and others can see thecresults. They have a crappy job so lets have someone kinder and gentler do it.

they don’t “discipline their own”. they back them up, they lie for them, they help them commit murder and then they lie on the stand to get them off. serpico had to leave new york city because his life was threatened by cops for reporting other cops criminality.

      1. True. Cops have a much weaker system than the military justice system. All they have is Internal Affairs. However even oversight citizen councils such as in wash dc seldom prosecute. Many hate police for their brutality while others see them as a force oof law and irder though imperfectly executed.

  3. This is a spirited political discussion, but there’s not so much “listening” as “shouting”.
The latest I can tell about Martin Gugino is that he was awake, alert and oriented at the hospital on Friday, asking for privacy, and the Washingtom Post reported that he was still there late Saturday, without details.
Details would help me assess what happened.
I’m a medical doctor. It’s not clear what injuries he may have sustained.
I’m not a Fascist, Racist, Trotskyite, Stalinist or Libertarian.
I have been arrested, and I do not recommend it.
I have had traumatic head injuries, and I don’t recommend that, either.
The police are enforcers of a certain social order, paid by our owners, The Owners.
Some of the upper middle managers for the owners filed charges on 2 police officers in the video, based on an apparent outcome, not based upon their behavior. The special unit resigned from their special unit duties, showing solidarity against the upper middle managers for The Owners.
Again, I live in the real world. I bike commute about 2 hours per day in a fairly major city, Austin, to a clinic that serves poor people, and is in one of the last parts of town that still has street-community of homeless people. I keep several folded dollars in my pocket and donate to all the folks with signs at the corners, daily. I’m “bike man”. I live at street level, and so do my patients.
I do not support police brutality, or police with armored personnel carriers, and it was not like this in the 1970s when I got arrested. It’s worse. Israel trains all these guys to treat Americans like Israel treats the Palestinians whose land they have stolen and who they terrorize, beat and murder daily.
I have focused on facts visible on the video, and I am denounced for that, because the facts of the video do not show police-brutality this time, and I have said so.
The actions of the police were very well within their training, much more restrained than so much of what we see, and which I have seen so many times in Emergency Rooms. “He looks like he ‘resisted’”, was the comment when somebody badly beaten up would come in on a police-hold.
It was dark humor. ERs have dark humor. It was a routine observation.
To make adjustments to “the real world”, you kind of have to start by assessing “what’s real”.
I’m not even addressing that as a philosophical question at this moment.
I would like to know what injuries Martin Gugino sustained from the actions of the “dutiful” police officers.

it looked brutal enough to qualify as brutality to me. a shove that wouldn’t be brutality against a fit agile 200 pound guy in his twenties would be against a small child or a frail old person. they are being charged now with felony assault (2d degree), and the fact they initially lied about it (he “tripped and fell”) shows me they knew it was illegal.

      1. The old boy was interfering with cops doing their job. Dumb thing to do!

        1. Cops doing their job – smashing heads!

Here, have a boot to lick.

          1. So don’t you think that, in all fairness, blacks should be protesting against any reminder of Washington and Jefferson because both were very big slave holders. After all, in Richmond they took down the statue of Robert E. Lee who did not own any slaves.

PS: I’m seeing a parade of blacks on NPR and on the MSM giving their opinion on racism, defunding/disbanding police departments. I guess they are America’s new intellectual class. And, while we are on the subject, how about taking on Dr. MLK for his serial infidelities with sundry ladies.

Yup, America wants the truth–but doubt if it’s ready to face up to it. Finally, about 40 percent of our military is black and these fine patriots have no problem killing brown people and others in their own countries.

            Should I keep on going…

            1. Looks like you have your own problems with black people. They, and a lot of white people with them, are sick of the cops ‘just doing their job’, and are pushing back in a mass effort. Clearly it is scaring the shit out of the overlords, or at least their 2-bit ground managers, as it seems to be working at to some notable extent.

              1. Does not address the point of my comment. Try focusing and comprehend.

                1. Your comment had no particular point and none that were remotely relevant to ‘cops doing their job’ as you put it..

MLK’s infidelity? Washington and Jefferson’s slave portfolio? Black people killing brown people in other countries? FFS! That’s a complete disarray of unhinged apologia.

When you can focus upon and comprehend the actual point of a discussion then get back to me and maybe we’ll talk about it.

                1. Perhaps you could try to be more clear and precise as to what your point is with respect to ‘this’. Or are you just throwing mud at a wall?

    2. “The actions of the police were very well within their training,”

Oh, that’s ok then. I mean if it’s authorised it can’t be brutality, can it? It is perfectly reasonable for an advancing wave of armoured police to push a solitary old man forcibly backwards. BTW, force and impact are relative to mass and balance, but let’s not get too careful with our observations. All things are equal right, except when we choose to be relativist?

Furthermore, if Gugino did bait them, then it was like catching fish in a barrel. He reeled the brutes in hook, line and sinker. Discipline is what these meat-cogs dish out, not what they understand in any meaningful way.

    3. The Palestinians are the new Amer-Indians, to be shoat a run off the land.

    4. I suggest you check out Jimmy Dore and the video taken from across the street that he features in his video about these cops. You can HEAR the man’s head hit the concrete, and you’re suggesting that it was staged? I know how incredibly stupid doctors are — I’m severely disabled due to their efforts, and I’ve just watched my husband go through hell because these morons cannot even diagnose severe hypoglycemia — but really.

Here is a prediction you can bank on (that you will NOT see anywhere on corporate media): There will be significant numbers of voluntary resignations by members of this culture. Why? Because too many eyes are going to be looking at them on the streets from now on. Because the culture of officers supporting each other no matter what they do is breaking down. Simply, there will be many resignations from regular LE departments because THE JOB WON’T BE FUN FOR THEM anymore. They will soon say, screw this, you won’t let me do my job MY WAY you can all (delete) yourselves.

Will these guys (and gals) who resign from town and city forces become counselors and priests? Uh, no. They will join PRIVATE security forces that will be blossoming all over the place sought out by scared citizens who will beg to be “protected” from “those people”. So there will be plenty of work available. And the Serve-And-Protect-Each-Other crowd will go on having their way with people in the ways they have grown accustomed to and so their smirks and hand gestures and worse will live on in a different way.

  8. The right likes to go on and on and on about America being a “Christian Nation.” That’s generally across the lands of the European empires. A part of the reason that they believe they are exceptional is because they are Christians.
    What would Jesus do?
Would Jesus push a 75 year old protester to the ground?
Would Jesus stand and applaud police who act brutally towards the citizens who pay their salaries to protect and serve them?
Investigations over the last year or so have shown that it is highly likely that some of the officers in that picture belong to right-wing groups. Such groups almost always make a big deal about being Christian, and describing the world as a war between the Christians and the forces of evil who want to overturn everything Great about America.
    What would Jesus do?
Jesus would be a protestor today.
Jesus today would likely be a working class carpenter, out of work due to the economy. Jesus did not look like the ruling Romans in his society. The typical Roman attitude was to look down upon their conquered peoples as not being as good as true Roman blood.
Jesus would be a protester today.
That old man who was pushed to the ground was doing what Jesus would do.

    1. How wonderful for you, to have perfect insight to exactly what Jesus would do. Or does he just follow your orders? My political views are neither “right” nor “left”, as they are just two sides of the same coin. Both are intent upon inflicting their view upon people, at gun point if necessary. Neither consider the possibility that they are wrong.
“The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, and wiser people so full of doubts.”
      Bertrand Russel

    2. Jesus was a fundamentalist Jewish nationalist. He stated specifically that he had come to fulfill the law, not to replace it, and that his mission was only for “the lost sheep of the house of Israel.” The idea that he came for all mankind was invented decades after his death by people who had never met him and knew of him only through hearsay. It was fabricated because the core of his teaching, that Yahweh was about to return to establish his kingdom on earth, with all men to be ruled by the Chosen on his behalf, was the ranting of just another delusional fanatic.
      .
Divinity, divine paternity, three days in the underworld followed by a glorious return to life, eternal bliss for the righteous in Elysium – these are all pagan theological constructs current in the Roman world during Christianity’s formative period. They would have been abominable heresies to the pious Jew who Jesus was – if he was an actual man, and not a composite figure like Abraham, Moses, Solomon, and others in Jewish mythology.

      1. Pretty much true about Jesus. Paul invented Christianity.

  9. Today, it’s personal for me, as I watch a video of militarized cops and camo-clad troops sweeping a street and the sidewalks straddling it of pedestrians. As they march along like advancing Nazi stormtroopers, they come on Martin Gugino, a tall thin elderly white man of 75 who is standing facing them. Described as a “protester” in reports, Gugino, a veteran peace activist in Baltimore, ambles towards one of the officers, arms down and hands empty, and begins talking calmly. Instead of responding or ignoring and walking around him, the cop he’s addressing just suddenly shoves him hard in the chest so he falls backward and down hard, banging his head on the concrete and, apparently, losing consciousness while blood pours from his ear.
As the police, including his attacker, march on past the injured man, one officer stops, turns and starts to bend over to check on the victim, but the cop walking along just behind him pushes him to make him move on, after which the other officers following just keep walking on by the man, while other cops can be heard yelling at bystanders who clearly are trying to cross over the sidewalk to help the injured and bleeding man, telling them to “Get back! Get back!”
This entire incident was videotaped by a local WKBW TV crew, and the station reports that the injured man is now in a hospital where he’s listed in “serious but stable” condition. It also reports that Buffalo’s Mayor Byron Brown says two cops involved in the incident — presumably the thug who pushed the man for no reason and walked on, and the cop who prevented a colleague from stopping to help — have been suspended without pay based upon the video footage, which belies the Police Department’s blatant lie that the shoved man “apparently tripped” and fell. This truly heartfelt article can be read here:
Cop Pushes Old White Man Over Backwards, Leaves Victim Bleeding and Unconscious After Head Hits Sidewalk Hard by Dave LIndorff!
    https://thiscantbehappening.net/cop-pushes-old-white-man-over-backwards-leaves-victim-bleeding-and-unconscious-after-head-hits-sidewalk-hard/

    1. One problem with the non-violent protests of the past is that they assume some level of decency from the police, government and media.

    2. Blood “appears” to pour from Martin Gugino’s ear, and really quickly, though the back of his head does not appear to be injured, and he has a lot of kyphotic curve in his upper back, which seems to make him hold the occiput of his head off the ground. Blood in the ear is considered to represent a basilar skull fracture, a severe one, but I do not see evidence of a likely mechanism for such an injury, not that semi-controlled fall, and I don’t see how he could have fractured the base of his skull below his right ear the way his body is shaped, on flat concrete, with a fairly light fall. I doubt that this is actually a basal skull fracture because he was lying still and controlled on the sidewalk, and was described as awake, alert, oriented and conversive at the hospital after that. Somebody has a close up which appears to show a small yellow tube going from behind his mask, mouth area, into his right ear, which could be used to mouth-pump something that would look like blood, as he lay there still and calm and straight.
      This may be political theater.
I await enough information to be able to assess what happened.

      1. He falls out of the frame in the video so can’t see his head hit the ground, so no idea why you’re pretending you’ve seen “control” in the way he fell. He’s then seen with his body curling upward, which if you’ve watched boxing or MMA you’d know is consistent with a particularly brutal knockout, after which he goes limp. Blood coming out the ear would be consistent with a skull fracture. The fact that he eventually regained consciousness obviously does not mean it wasn’t a severe injury.

        1. For all the fine words projected in conceptual opposition to ‘the machine’, it’s only when a line is actually drawn in the sand that people’s real position is demonstrated. Sincerity comes from the gut, not the head. Rationality is a tool for getting what the gut really wants which subordinates the mind to see and render things in accord with those visceral desires and fears. That’s why learning mostly occurs from situations that reveal those visceral reflexes and thereby, hopefully, demand their reconciliation to conscious thought images. Moments of calm or easy good fortune are for pleasure and recovery, not learning..

    3. Roc Campbell wrote: “Described as a “protester” in reports, Gugino, a veteran peace activist in Baltimore, ambles towards one of the officers, arms down and hands empty, and begins talking calmly.”
      ——————————-

Not sure where you got this information, but it is 100% false. Neither of his hands were empty, and his right hand was most definitely not at his side. In one hand, he was holding a motorcycle helmet (which are often used as weapons), and in the other, he was holding a cell phone which he waved in front of the torsos of two officers, just inches away from them. He could have been trying to scan or disable their communications systems. He could have been reaching for their weapons. He very deliberately tried to antagonize the police officers who acted with relative restraint considering what Gugino was doing.
      ———————–

Agree with John Day on this one. There is too much theater around this incident for it to be taken at face value. We need to wait and see what the evidence shows, and we need an independent medical evaluation to determine what happened to Mr. Gugino before we can come to any conclusions.

      1. Well, not before “any conclusions”. One could easily conclude that police are abusive, by a plethora of other evidence, and so conclude that this is as likely as not just another incidence of such.

  10. Liberals I believe you need to take a knee and ask forgiveness to all of humanity for you behavior. You are the bully police, the storm troopers these police will never live up to. You just live in the intellectual realm, the realm of social interactions where communication is vital. You have placed your self in some Holy God like authority. Only you are pure enough to know the ‘truth’. Only you have the perspective that needs to be heard. All others must bow and submit, if not willingly then by force. You have a large army of intellectual riot cops with Liberal biased media armor and People in “Authority” who sympathize or align with your perspectives and who always cove for you. (think ‘internal investigation’) You lie, If it was not here in print. You would get away with blaming your victim. Your riot cops are filled with self-righteous hate and prejudice and they will beat the offender senseless with their verbal batons until they retreat.

    Instances Here
MJOI, “old man was interfering with the cops doing their job” ( A perspective at least worthy of consideration, consideration that may bring up more questions and understanding) “Yes, there were protesters, but their was also looting, burning in dozens of cities” ( a factor in the tension and response, no?) “what happened to Mr. Floyd was very, very wrong, he was a serial criminal “ (balanced?) Result: “I shouldn’t have to explain this. The frenzied mental contortions people are doing to defend assaultive behavior from authority figures is bat shit insane.” (Whack, Whack, Whack) “Not hard to tell who are the fascists. Their so damned stupid that they always out themselves. And I gotta tell ya, fascist, your shit bag side is going to lose.” (Shove, Whack, Shove, Whack)

MJOI, “I do not have any love for cops. They are trained to overreact and be brutal. BUT, under no circumstances, do I think it’s okay to riot, burn, vandalize and kill people.” Result; “Looking at each issue? You must be pretty busy … “ (Shove) “That’s called circular reasoning, and it’s very stupid.” (Whack)

KEVEN, offered: info, (I hadn’t seen about the man, adds some context) a link, good or bad, let me decide, regardless I learned something. Result: “bootlicker”, “idiot”(Whack, Whack), “read the damn article” (Whack), “you have no media literacy” (Whack), “You don’t know how to think critically”(Whack), “Fix your personal shortcomings” (whack).
JM offered: “from my own observations” “As someone who’s been involved with numerous protests”. “More than anything, we should ALWAYS strive for the truth, no matter which way it points” ( a piece of gold I think )
Result: “This is madness. I’m convinced there’s no act of police brutality people won’t run apologia for” (Whack), “This is just something that you pulled out of your ass, whole cloth” (Whack) “you’re an unpaid jack-ass” (Whack)
JOHN DAY, . “I would generally agree about police brutality, but having watched the advancing-towards-officers behavior” Result: “All those seemingly insightful posts and in just one you reveal that you’re a fucking idiot.” (Whack, Whack) “how your soul sees things” ( Knock down, Whack)

In the end you have created a society where people are fearful of expressing themselves. You reduce the quantity and quality of human perspective and intellectual insight. You seek to dominate and rule over the human consciousness You applaud and support those who do this and that is where you wander off into a land of self-delusion, all the while extolling your purity.

    1. Fascinating to watch the output of the right-wing trolls escalate.
Shows me that the Elites are getting worried and pumping more money into their troll farms.

      1. “Right-wing Troll” So you know that is who I am. Now everything I said is suddenly meaningless. Just that easy, just apply a label. Now you judge my motives, just add a label. I am not a person just a “right wing troll”. Don’t listen to a word I say, nothing there, just a “right wing troll”. (Whack, Whack, Whack, Whack) So when you delegitimize people, based on stereotyping when you remove their perspective from the conversation. Is that really optimal. I see a lot of problems with this, but don’t listen to me I’m just a “right wing troll” Is not racism a form of stereotyping and you are against racism? I think what you and others like you do to people, honest people I might add who have a perspective you may not want to hear Is worse than anything any cop has done. Why, because you impede solutions that are sound. You impede the conversation that must take place in order to fix this. You ensure is remains a quagmire. You are the very thing you say you detest. Which makes a person wonder, what is this really all about. If you felt secure in you beliefs and actions why resort to underhanded and dehumanizing tactics? Why beat up and bully people with your verbal baton. If what they have to say is so wrong it should be easy to refute and nothing to be fearful of. You are in crowd control, us vs. them. I would like to see people like you dressed in blue lined up against an army of unreasonable people who hate you, spit on you attempt to injure you, judge you, stereotype you for days because a bad apple in a corrupt system you have little or no control over. (supposed to be the voters responsibility, the people who control the people who control the levers are supposed to represent the ideas of ‘the people’) I am sure an understanding, accommodating person like you would ??? hmmm.

Clint, I can be certain of only thing about you, vis there is not a right wing troll bone in your body. Whatever the police are, or not, is defined by the Evil State they serve and protect! Yes, many cops are brutal predators and sociopathic parasites, but they are no more racist in their intent and methods than the U.S. Empire is in its global wars of aggression. Police brutality is nothing more than a mirror reflection of the power structures that own them, need them, and ALWAYS protect them. Troll on!!

          1. Thank You. If I did not believe that the majority of people are basically good I would give up. That is not what I believe though. I like what you said. I see the police actions whatever they may be as a symptom. This is how I view the world, person A or group A form conclusions they base various beliefs around. Person B or group B form conclusion that vary from those of group A. Here is where the difficulty arises. In order to reconcile the conclusion and beliefs (which may have been decades in formation) . They have to question themselves, recalculate, and submit to the thoughts of another group whose calculations are developed within a black box where motive are unclear. How do humans fix this? War and Violence. Also I believe it is the very type of thinking that the left exhibits now that often leads to the things I abhor. It is unyielding, authoritative, power that often brings the hammer when a small tap is needed, We can’t get along with the Russians, don’t trust them, well just nuke em.
Anybody that types words here is showing up. We could be playing golf and rolling in apathy. We are all in this together. Thanks again

  11. Because there are hundreds of killings of detained suspects every year, there is something about what is going on now that is different. That it was caught on tape was critical, but there are other factors too. It’s certainly a culmination of several things, some the product of long-term mismanagement of the economy and bad policies directed at vulnerable urban communities. We could add the police code of silence, and the usual suspects.
But there’s something more, and aspects of the public response have elements of being manufactured, on multiple levels – both directly and indirectly. The perspectives of this article are quite interesting; you can read it here:
The Racist Public Execution of George Floyd Is a Transformative American Moment by Joaquin Flores!
    https://www.strategic-culture.org/news/2020/06/07/the-racist-public-execution-floyd-transformative-american-moment/

  12. It is ironic that these are the people that arrest criminals for committing crimes. Who is the bigger criminal? My basic feeling is that the tasks assigned to these people need to be reduced to a minimum, because they are a public menace; they are narcissists on a power trip. Put another way, “defund the police”. Another aspect of this “violence for thee, but not for me” entitlement mindset is the Law Enforcement Officers Bill of Rights:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Law_Enforcement_Officers%27_Bill_of_Rights

The police think it is important for them to have these rights, but not the lowly citizen who pays their salary. Giving everyone these rights would probably address many police abuses. The police are also political. In theory they should be non-partisan. I think the police propaganda and the military propaganda are very similar, but Americans have to deal with actual cops (up to a point if you are white).

There is a T.V. drama that extolls police violence called The Shield:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dm6ZQjIupn0

How many cops watch this show?

    1. On the plus side, its good that assault charges are being made against the two officers. Usually the judicial system seems a party to the abuse. The police must be the ultimate snowflakes: “I have to beat you now because you aren’t deferential enough”.

      1. Their titles are ” public servant ” and their ” paychecks ” are paid by some level of government be it city, county, state, or federal. The reality however is that these ” public servants ” are the ” up front overseers ” used by ” the rich owners and the rich masters ” to herd, corral, and brainwash the stupid taxpaying peons that make up the bulk of humanity. The United States government, in all its forms, has ” armies ” at its disposal to enact ” tyranny ” anywhere on this entire planet. Such ” power ” once achieved will never be given up; the owners and the masters would kill us all before they let that happen.

        1. The police may be America’s Praetorian Guard; they may be another parallel between the imperial decline of Rome and America’s imperial decline.

  13. Years ago, on a flight, I happened to be sitting next to the ex mayor of Toronto, Canada. During our conversation he told me how he tried to rein in the police, how the police union thwarted every attempt and then worked actively to make sure he was not reelected.
This is a major problem in every city with a large police budget. Here in Vancouver, Canada the police have been asked to reduce their budget by 1% due to Covid-19. They have refused citing the old lie about how absolutely important they are.
The police must prove that they are worth the cost and are, in fact, more valuable that social workers and other organizations that try to help rather than cops who try to control.

  14. Here’s what’s happening: 0.0001% of the population is paying, what, 10% of the population to control/enslave 89.0001% of the population. Why do “things” have to be this way?

Imagination is probably the most powerful force in the human mind, so let’s once again become children and use it to its fullest.

Imagine first that every human being outside of US (or “Canadian”) borders suddenly ceases to exist.
Imagine that the present system in the US in which the vast majority of wealth and LARGE-SCALE capital equipment is owned by a microscopic percentage of the population for their own astronomical profit REMAINS THE SAME.

Imagine that both “labor” (the working class) and “management” (the ruling class, or Elite) can organize, as they supposedly can in our present “democracy”. But now, because nobody is alive outside of US borders, the owners of large-scale capital equipment suddenly no longer have the option to move their capital equipment to other places on the planet where there are desperately poor people who are “willing” to work for food, water and a place to sleep on the factory floor.

Imagine that US environmental, labor, etc. regulations now apply everywhere on planet earth (because the US is now the only nation on planet earth).

Just exactly HOW are Americans going to “go it alone” when America’s present economy needs immigrants (of a certain “economic type”) each and every year from now to eternity?

WHO is going to buy all of the “excess” natural resources, oil, farm products, manufactured goods, etc. that a small percentage of working Americans can very efficiently produce, but can no longer “export”? NOBODY!

To have available the relatively small amount of warm-weather items that America now imports, Americans will venture forth to those places, AS AMERICANS, and produce and send those products “back home”. Naturally, those American workers, working on other parts of the globe outside of FORMER US borders, will be paid a wage that also applies to the rest of the American “labor market” at home and, again, the American regulatory framework will also apply to those workers and facilities and places of production, as well as America’s social benefits.

ALL of the work that is presently being done in America by “temporary foreign workers” and other temporary workers who harvest crops, put roofs on houses, cook food in restaurants, take care of the elderly in nursing homes, etc. will have to be done by Americans who will be paid by other Americans.

Automobiles, trucks, TVs, toilet tissue, etc. will now have to be produced by Americans, for Americans. In other words, absolutely any thing and any service that Americans need/desire will have to be produced by Americans and, again, Americans will have to pay these other Americans to do that — enough payment so that these hard-working Americans will make enough “profit” to “save” enough money to be able to “retire” when they inevitably become physically decrepit.

Here’s the most important question of all. WHO is going to play the role of “enemy” that is necessary to maintain the need, the justification, for the present economically-necessary military industrial complex? Answer: NOBODY. How are all the people employed in that MIC going to be employed after the disappearance of those “threats to national security”?

How much is the above arrangement — again, an arrangement in which only Americans inhabit the planet, and in which the vast majority of wealth and large-scale capital equipment is owned by a truly microscopic percentage of the population of American for their own astronomical profit — going to “cost” Americans? Will Americans be able to “afford” that system, that arrangement?

    NO, they won’t!

When I recently asked my brother in law why the American government finds it necessary to import vehicles, TVs, etc. from other countries, his reply was that “if they were produced by Americans in America, they would be too expensive”.

So now to my point. Just as it is for the vast majority Americans now in our multi-national globalized world, Americans living in an America-only world could NOT “afford” what they need and what they want under the present economic arrangement in which the vast majority of wealth and large-scale capital equipment is owned/controlled by a microscopic percentage (and getting smaller by the day) of population for their own astronomical profit.

THIS is why under the present economic system desperate slave labor is needed to provide what Americans need.

THIS is why Americans can not afford to have enough children to maintain the present population and immigrants of a certain economic status have to be imported into America each and every year from now to eternity.

THIS is why “trade agreements” such as NAFTA between international corporations are needed to exploit the most desperate people on the planet for the greater benefit of a much smaller percentage of the population.

Again, what Americans desperately need TODAY is an economic system in which ALL Americans, not just a microscopic percentage, own/control large capital equipment COLLECTIVELY, and collectively provide the LABOR (by “divvying up” the necessary labor among ALL citizens) to operate that large-scale capital equipment.

By providing THEIR labor to run THEIR capital equipment, farm THEIR land, take care of THEIR sick and elderly, etc., ALL Americans will have EARNED the right to consume all of the goods and services produced by THIER large-scale captial equipment and THEIR labor. In other words, ALL Americans will get to “profit” from THEIR large-scale capital equipment and THEIR labor, not just a microscopic (and getting smaller by the day) percentage of the American population.

    1. Thanks Ishkabible. Waking us up to the power of imagining another way of doing things is really important. Keep at it!

    2. In other words, socialism. That has always worked out so well every time its tried. Unless you happened to be one of the 150,000,000 or so of their own citizens that were murdered by said socialists in the last 100 years. Not to defend the bank cartel owned governments of other types, just pointing out that socialism is not a panacea, and in fact works no better, and often worse.

Blood was allegedly seen dripping from the man’s head onto the sidewalk.
The man was allegedly unconscious after making contact with the cement.
The riotous man was supposedly elderly/Police at the scene confidently deny this.
An ambulance allegedly transported the man to some kind of a hospital.
Supposed doctors at an unverified hospital somehow noted his wound as critical.
An investigation into the man’s history of just falling in front of the police is underway.
An investigation into the credentials of the supposed doctors is underway.
Heroic First Responders on the scene may file charges against the man for impeding their mission to protect and to serve.

The article is spot on, but is missing one point. The origin of policing goes way back in history, when the first police were formed to protect the lives and property of the elite – nobody else mattered – and at any cost. So, essentially, nothing has changed since the formation of the very first group of police. Brutality was condoned and encouraged back then and nothing has changed since among the ranks of the ‘men in blue.’ And, if you check out the stats about common victims of crime – such things as murder, battery, domestic violence and many more – most police don’t even earn their pay. Even the detectives rarely solve more than 1 to 2 cases per year – unless the wealthy and powerful were the victims.
As far as protecting one another, there was a similar case yesterday, where a grossly overweight policeman of about 25 years was peacefully approached by a young protester. The policeman’s response was to push everybody else aside – and without provocation – to smash the protester in the back of the head with his heavy metal baton, sending him to the hospital. The police officer was rightly suspended, ‘pending an investigation.’
The head of the police union, or it’s Benevolent Society ( can’t recall which), a man whose appearance was not unlike that of the perpetrator, is filing to oppose the suspension, videotaped with an nasty commentary, it which, multiple times, he called the suspension, ‘Outrageous’ and worse.
In other words, he deems a suspension to be outrageous, but not the unprovoked battery on a peaceful person that, if the violence were he other way around, would have found the protester thrown to the ground, handcuffed, likely beat a little – the degree of which might have been determined by how many cameras were pointed at the arrest – then be booked and charged with a myriad of offenses that would likely include battery, attempted murder and a mixture of lesser charges designed to keep him on jail for a very long time. Does anyone here want to place a friendly (no money) wager on how severe the officer’s penalty will be? I’m thinking something like forced to retire with full pension as a reward for a 25-year career of brutality and intimidation.

    1. I suggest that another “contributor” to the current situation was https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slave_catcher. in the sense that the impunity that grows out of immunity arose. I donʻt have an elaborated argument yet just a sense that “policing” has become like “slave catching” was a relatively “law free zone” and the occupation itself might attract similarly personalitied [to coin a term] individuals. thereʻs something there. That citizens can be assaulted in a sense makes them less than “full citizens” and closer to having slave staus.

  17. As a former prosecutor of ten years, I believe that a key reason police feel they can get away with brutality is the collaboration of many prosecutors, who look the other way, or even worse agree with it. Prosecutors, who are supposed to police the police, often work with them on many cases and come to see themselves as partners with the officers they use as witnesses.

I worked for one of the largest DA’s Offices in the country, and once reported an officer for brutality. The whole matter was eventually whitewashed, including by the Civilian Complaint Review Board, despite my repeated efforts. One of the things that bothered me the most was my colleagues felt my career was over after I did this, especially because I worked in narcotics, which uses police officers almost exclusively as our witnesses. Nothing happened to me and my Deputy Bureau Chief backed me up all the way.

Part of the reason this all goes on is that prosecutors are essentially immune from punishment. That is why I feel that making prosecutors accountable is a crucial part of any reform!

    1. Indeed. There are two blatant, and others not so obvious, “laws” that guarantee the continuance of such oppression. Qualified immunity, by which police cannot be sued for their actions in performance of their “duty”, and asset forfeiture, by which police can steal practically anything from their victims, and keep at least a part of the proceeds for themselves. Asset forfeiture is based on the ridiculous proposition that they are not acting against the victim, but against the assets. This is a common basis for various other criminal activity performed by the Psychopaths In Charge.

What do you think of the Mayor’s role in setting the tone or perhaps defining the role of police and rules of engagement within their municipality?

  18. One office moved to help the injured man. Another officer stopped him. This says a lot about police culture today. They are no longer policemen serving the citizens but soldiers at war with an enemy. And the enemy is us.

  19. Charlie Beall Avatar

The police are merely a symptom of the much deeper disease—the State, which could not exist absent its monopoly use of violent force. The majority of Americans (and Australians) support their government overlords—and deserve exactly what they get from the uniformed psychopaths with badges and troops with flag patches. It has ALWAYS been the tiny minority of us who want to be free, peaceful, and left the fuck alone that The State most fears. The herd can Always be counted on to wear the State’s colors and carry its flag, the circular conversations here and elsewhere notwithstanding. Read Albert J. Knox and Thomas Paine for the solution.

  20. There are two kinds of people. You’ve got people that like to control aspects of physical reality — things. And there are people that like to control other people. That second group, those who like to lord it over their fellows, are drawn to government, politics, and policing. (in part, from Doug Casey)

  21. It has been consistently stated, throughout the ages, “power begets power”. It can be stated on lofty words, or crude, but it is here, clear, cogent, the full meaning. The Brits began seeing the need for common crowd control, as London became congested with fog, the shift from wood fires, to coal, as the forests ran out, changed society substantially, economically, and by this, changes in common ways.
Sir Robert Peel was called upon for his solution, and England got Sir Robert’s Men, memorialized in “Bobbies”. History shows, for over a century, almost two, a truncheon and a whistle were all the tools needed, for a moral and principled society.
As the British Empire pushed Opium on the far east in particular, that bird came home to roost, and England began having serious problems with opium and dens on the waterfront. At the same time, the French Empire was fully challenging the British, and “impressing” became the means of filling British warships.
A major culture shift came about because of war and drugs, and England has never seen the peace it had prior, since.
The U.S. was relatively drug free, until the same period, and “laudanum” was our common import of opium. It was introduced as “patent medicine”, and became ubiquitous, across our nascent Country. We went from similar force of sheriff’s, police, gendarmes, who’s primary force was for drunks and fighters, to arms, against robbers, thieves and high crimes, for big money, a drug issue.
We have also lost our culture, replaced by sub-cultures, deliberately fractionated, and we’ve reached the point, the masses can only be controlled by power, because the general wealth, food on the table, tools in the shed, able to work and earn a living, has been decimated by a cultural shift from working for a living, and pretty much every willing worker, employed, able to move up, if desired, to a culture accustomed to 30% unemployed, on welfare (socialism”, food stamps, un-earned income) and while touted as “laudable”, taking care of those who can’t take care of themselves, We, The People have noted, for every one who can’t, there is one who won’t, and government can’t discriminate between the can’t, and the won’t.
Through all time, charity has been classed a virtue and those who have care and concern for their fellow man, have been discerning, and taken care of the needy, while ignoring the lazy. Those who give their own, have the right to be discerning, to discriminate, while those who give the collection of others, don’t have the right, as it is not their own to give, so they must give blindly, to those who won’t work, as well as to those who can’t. This is exactly why charity can’t be conducted by State apparatus, but must be private.
We, America, have allowed our economy to be stolen, over a century ago, and it was given over to the banks, owned by those who have always owned banks, and whose normal mode of income is compound interest on deposited wealth, saved profit, invested to fund capital infrastructure. As long as the principle lenders, lend real money, capital, and the borrowers invest it in productive venture, Capitalists earn their profit by production, and grow by expanding production. Bankers earn profit by real money, invested in real growth of productivity, and thus earn their meager compound wealth, that can only get beyond “meager” by good management, good decision in infrastructure investment, as business must expand, for profit to increase. With such, those most efficient working, get moved ahead, many with their own ideas, choose to open competing or entirely new business, by saving their own capital, and people like me go from penniless, to owning a machine shop in fifty plus years.
Had our money been gold, I’d have owned it by 20, instead of forty, I never would’ve worked elsewhere, and some of the current unemployed, would be employed by me, and others, by other business of actual production.
Instead, with fiat currency, there have been no interest bearing accounts, they’ve accrued interest less than inflation, so real investment in infrastructure has been “knee-capped” by the 20% less capital available for lending, greater competition for the same meager capital, and those who have the greatest means of profit, get the capital at lowest cost, so it goes to buy-backs, the “repo-market”, where no production is made, no expansion of productivity happens, but those who own corporate business, increase their stock value, while decreasing profit earnings, by reducing production.
When I decide to take iron ore from the ground, using a furnace I’ve built with raw material, invested tools, and “sweat equity”, I produce raw iron, which I can make things out of, or focus on making iron, and selling it to those who would make things, for profit, and the sum total of things made, this year increase, and this is real profit. When I choose to invest as a trader, I buy and sell things that may or may not have increased the sum total of production in the world, and it is easy for much of such work, to merely service the workers of production, without expanding the production. As long as real capital, real earned value, continues to be poured into economic venture, even such service jobs, increase productivity, by increasing the food available for workers, expanding the potential work force.
When all primary productivity has left a country, simply circulating the same money, feeding everyone, but producing nothing, eventually uses up any saved capital, and we go from “no productivity” to negative productivity, which is quickly remedied, with real money, it is obvious whether production occurs, or doesn’t. With a fiat currency, one can get decades behind last “production expansion” before general recognition, production has fallen below the cost of feeding the sum total, and this is where we are and why. All of it was allowed by fiat currency, a reasoning with no logic behind it, debt based economic works as well as capital based, something which has been tried with every failing Nation, Country and Empire. We will collapse no less than every other one has. Hubris always conquers reason, because “people” want to believe they can have something for nothing.

    1. Banks don’t make the vast sums they have by charging interest. They make money by lending you money they don’t have and charging interest on this as well. This is why banks own the world. Don’t believe it, watch this –

  22. Wouldn’t it be neat to juxtapose the video of how the behavoirs of State enforcers differ in similar circumstances – a group of them.moving towards an area where unrest is occurring, confronted by an elderly person who blocks their path?

  24. They didn’t really “resign” they went off in a huff, excusing themselves from carrying out one of the duties they are paid handsomely for. In effect, they acted like a bunch of spoiled children upending the snakes and ladders board when they get caught cheating. And they still want cake for tea. They should’ve been fired, and should still be fired. This time for refusing to carry out their duties.

    1. One of the number one motivators (besides being able to kick ass with impunity) for U.S. police is their pension. Of course they didn’t “resign” …

  25. In the 1980’s I did some work for a peace officer training agency. My customers were psychologists who administered entrance tests to candidates. One of them confided to me that the psychological profile of cops closely matched that of common criminals, and he speculated that it’s as though both wanted to play the same basic game but taking different roles. That was when the peace officer saw his/her purpose as serving and protecting local communities from the ravages of criminal activity. Clearly they now see their role as something quite different. Could be a different guiding narrative. It’s interesting that many in America’s police forces are receiving training from Israel. https://progressive.org/dispatches/us-police-trained-by-israel-communities-of-color-paying-price-shahshahani-cohen-191007/ The militarization of America’s local police departments suggests deliberate planning and intention on the part of those in power.

  26. It is ” always the victim’s fault”! The police not only lie, they fabricate evidence, and they frame completely innocent people. Most district attorneys and judges aid and abet these lies over and over again. If it was not for ” video footage ” these many ” blatant frame-ups ” would still not be disclosed to the public. The ” owners and the masters ” love the way this nations ” police forces ” brutalize the public ” everywhere. ” Show the peons just who runs the show on every street in these United States” is the command given and gladly obeyed.

    1. Perhaps true for a few but most got away with murder; see “Operation Paperclip”.
Mussolini and his student (who well out did the teacher) look up from Hell on the U.S.A. and smile. Their wildest dreams are coming true.

  29. How’s that song go, ‘What’s it all about?’ Well, that’s it. These are the grand and great grand children of those who murdered not only the 100 million indigenous people who lived here before them but all the tens of millions in Europe in just the last 100 years alone not to mention the 30 million dead Muslims since 9/11. They say it’s white people and no doubt some of them are; but is it really? Because as we all know, not all whites were created equal, Jack-the-Ripper was buried in a church graveyard of the Brethren, but was he really just another Zionist from hell as many contend that he was?

  30. The fact that the injured man was white supports Caitlin’s argument that brutality is part of the American police culture, regardless of race, although there is still clearly a strong racist element.

    1. Sorry, but that old man was interfering with the cops doing their job. Anyone with half a brain knows that’s not a good idea. Besides, he also laid a hand on a cop. Bad.

Yes, there were protesters, but their was also looting, burning in dozens of cities.

Finally, though what happened to Mr. Floyd was very, very wrong, he was a serial criminal who got several years of prison time for pointing a gun at the stomach of a pregnant woman. Surely , we have better heroes than Mr. Floyd.

      1. He didn’t lay a hand on anyone, and even if he did, it’s not okay to assault someone for a hand touching you. It’s not okay to assault someone just because you’re wearing a badge and they’re in the way. I shouldn’t have to explain this. The frenzied mental contortions people are doing to defend assaultive behavior from authority figures is bat shit insane.

        1. Yes, he did–the video very clearly shows him touching a cop. Any idiot knows you do not do that. BTW, I do not have any love for cops. They are trained to overreact and be brutal. BUT, under no circumstances, do I think it’s okay to riot, burn, vandalize and kill people. And people were doing that even where there were no cops present.

We know more about George Floyd than the retired 72-year old police captain who was guarding his or his friend’s store and was killed. What was done to Floyd was dead wrong (the neck on knee comes from our pals in Israel), but Floyd was a serial criminal. He got a multi-year jail term for pointing a gun at the stomach of woman who was pregnant. There is also some evidence he acted in porn “movie.”

Sorry, I’m just not into the left-right, conservative-liberal binary. I look at each issue and try to determine what is right and what is moral. How appropriate that in our screwed up country of selfie and Twitter addicts, Floyd should emerge as a symbol of cop brutality.

But still like most of what you write 🙂

          1. Looking at each issue? You must be pretty busy …

            1. Not as much as you, but I do cogitate the old onion every now and then. Give it a try sometime…

          2. “Any idiot knows you do not do that.” That’s just you saying people shouldn’t object to police violence because police are violent. That’s called circular reasoning, and it’s very stupid.

I think you have the clarity here. Tens of thousands of people are slaughtered in the streets of American cities each year by violent criminals, not cops. When that level of violence is tolerated in any culture, it is destined to collapse. The decaying culture of America is a byproduct of State abuse of power and dependence, which breed injustice, poverty and human despair. Add Israeli trained, brutal, armed State enforcers to the mix and you have George Floyd. The root of the problem is the concentration of wealth and power, which can only Be sustained by violence.

          4. You need glasses.
He DID NOT touch the cop.

            1. Correct, he did not–but still interfered with cops from doing their job.

              1. He attempted to speak with the police, one human being to another. He misjudged on that score.

              2. ‘Interfering with cops doing their job’.

Which just happens to have been violently suppressing legitimate dissent. Good one buddy. You’re real thinker.

              3. ‘Interfering with cops doing their job’.

Which just happens to have been violently suppressing legitimate dissent. Good one buddy. You’re a real thinker.

        2. I am no lawyer, but my understanding is that, in America, even touching someone during an argument is considered simple assault. I’m open to correction from legal minds.

he didn’t touch the cop. as you admitted in another post.

      2. I’ll introduce a term to you today. It’s called ‘proportional response’. There;s another word that you probably don’t know. It’s ‘decency’.

Mr. Floyd paid his dues for his criminal acts. His history is irrelevant to the killer cop culture and in no way justifies what that cop did and would no doubt do in the future.

Not hard to tell who are the fascists. Their so damned stupid that they always out themselves. And I gotta tell ya, fascist, your shit bag side is going to lose.

        1. Yeah I know, “they’re”.

Don’t piss me off first thing in the morning, fascist.

        2. You screw with the cops at your own risk. The old fart apparently hadn’t figured that out. BTW, I’ve no love for cops.

          1. Do you think that adding “I’ve no love for the cops” somehow covers up your support of their authoritarian fascist behavior?

We see who you are and which side you’re on.

          2. If you’ve no love for cops then stop trying to normalise their abhorrent (sadly not aberrant) behaviour. You’re victim blaming represents a disgusting effort at both an intellectual and a moral level.

The fascists are not the cops, but the State predators who employ them, and protect them with “qualified immunity”. The cops are not ideologues, and most are too stupid to understand how they are being used by the State. Remember that the next time you participate in the theater called elections.

if they had actually investigated and prosecuted chauvin for the numerous abuses he inflicted on citizens, instead of whitewashing him, his criminal record would make whatever floyd’s record is look paltry. i see the same attempt to smear the victim in many of these kinds of cases, from the arberry case to the brown case.

I would do it exactly like that.

  32. Stephen Morrell Avatar

It’s not just US cops either. It’s cops the world over. It’s universal. Presently, UK cop behaviours are being extolled as some kind of paradigm of policing, as the way to ‘reform’ the US cops. While beat bobbies don’t carry a weapon routinely, near the UK centres of bourgeois rule such the parliament and the various palaces occupied by feudal relics, the cops carry fully automatic assault rifles. UK cops supposedly have better training in ‘de-escalation’, yet they behave just as badly when confronted with ‘unauthorised’ mass protests or uprisings, especially when the victims are expressing their fury at their mistreatment.

The disgusting practice of ‘kettling’ was pioneered by the UK cops (at the Battle of Orgreave during the Great Miners Strike of 1984-85), and is now used routinely in the US elsewhere. And when push comes to shove UK cops will blow someone away just as much as US cops do. Jean Charles da Silva e de Menezes was gunned down by the cops in 2005, shot seven times in the head without even a shred of evidence linking him to the London Underground bombings. The UK cops are just as capable of being judge, jury and executioner as their US cohorts. The difference is one of degree, of quantity, not quality.

Cops are being militarised everywhere, not just in the US. Ruling classes around the world are doing it in the name of their ‘war on terror’ which in fact is a war on their own increasingly restive populations groaning under the weight of increasing impoverishment, immiseration and relentless exploitation. Cops outside the US have ‘specialised’ squads that wield and use automatic weapons and other military hardware. They may not be militarised to the same extent as in the US, but again it’s a matter of quantity not quality.

And as the Buffalo footage shows, the cops never split along ‘class’ or any other lines. They’re united and bound by their criminality, in the last analysis by a form of universal and mutual blackmail. Unlike the military.

While the military, cops, and prison screws form the repressive core of the bourgeois state, the cops (and screws) can never be equated with the military. The military, especially conscript forces (and the US military has a high proportion of economic conscripts), can’t be relied on when ordered to shoot their own, unlike the cops. Non-officers are most likely to disobey orders and will shoot their officers, especially if ordered at gunpoint to shoot on their class brothers and sisters or the oppressed. This famously occurred in Vietnam (‘fragging’ of officers with grenades was common), and has occurred more recently in the US’s Middle East atrocities. Unlike the cops, the likelihood of splitting the military can and must always be exploited.

The cops always side with strikebreakers, scabs and fascists in defense of bourgeois rule. They must be disarmed, disbanded and otherwise broken up. And before burning down the precinct, it’s always a good measure to make sure to empty its armory and use the captured weapons to train up worker and neighbourhood militias to defend themselves from the marauding criminal gangs in blue.

  33. We need a shadow white house by the people to discuss exemplary actions that a real
caring, careful and considerate government should and could be taking to avert i.e. hold
back from impending disaster. The government seems to be playing out a story line in the
style of the movie Planet Of The Apes. What has happened to to rational public discourse
that sustains the concord of liberty and independence that is based upon truth and justice?
We are being led around by a noose around our necks on a stick called social distancing and
deprived of our God given breath of life by masks. If it were Bubonic or Black plague causing
massive deaths I might concede to their plan, but a common cold like virus, heh, wake up!
The real concern is the rolling out of 5G that in fact will kill all biological life forms, and has already I suspect caused deaths by what NYC respiratory doctors have described as a high altitude sickness.

    1. I love your idea of “a shadow white house by the people to discuss exemplary actions that a real caring, careful and considerate government should and could be taking to avert i.e. hold back from impending disaster.” This would give life and form to the alternate universe we constantly long for from the fallen world in which we find ourselves. It would reify and uphold the vision. I hope there are young people out there who would like to give this a try.

  34. I’m an RN–and we routinely handle agitated, abusive people who are assaulting us–without pushing them, slamming them to the ground or placing our knees on their necks when they are lying on the ground after being handcuffed. NO excuses. I can’t agree that this protester was “apparently vigorous”. The fact that it took 6 feet of staggering backwards to fall down after being pushed is testament to the ability of a frail, elderly 75-yr-old man to stay upright that long. This is as egregious as the assumption that people who are in severe respiratory distress cannot say, “I can’t breathe.” We see it all the time–they are panicking, due to the fact that their breathing is severely compromised, and it takes everything they have to say those 3 words in a desperate plea for help.

    1. This crap bothers me too. I’m no expert, but we had riot training in the national guard and nobody knelt on anybody’s neck. What’s going on today in America is not normal.

      1. Guess where the cops got that tactic. Israel. Minneapolis cops got training from Israeli “experts.”

        1. Guess where a huge illegal annexation will take place in a few weeks …

  35. Ironically Martin Gugino commented on this video on Twitter sometime before he was pushed down himself. See how the second woman is “taken down.” The policeman says, “Move Back” then pushes her down. What he says is in contradiction to what he does. It is nothing more than self-deception to say the words. The action speaks louder.

  36. Martin Gugino is a 75-year-old professional agitator and Antifa provocateur who brags on his blog about the number of times he can get arrested and escape prosecution. Gugino’s Twitter Account is also filled with anti-cop sentiment [SEE HERE]. Last Thursday Gugino traveled from his home in Amherst, New York, to Buffalo to agitate a protest crowd.

During his effort Gugino was attempting to capture the radio communications signature of Buffalo police officers. CTH noted what he was attempting on Thursday night as soon as the now viral video was being used by media to sell a police brutality narrative. Today, a more clear video has emerged that shows exactly what he was attempting.

    https://theconservativetreehouse.com/2020/06/06/buffalo-officials-duped-by-professional-antifa-provocateur-arrest-and-charge-two-police-officers-righteous-police-team-stand-together-and-walk-out/

    1. You are a bootlicker and an idiot. Conservative Treehouse is a known disinfo blog that always smears victims of police brutality with lies. Read the damn article; he provides no one shred of evidence for the claim that Gugino “was attempting to capture the radio communications signature of Buffalo police officers.” He just made it up and said it like it’s a fact. And you believed it, because you have no media literacy and don’t know how to think critically. Please fix this personal shortcoming of yours.

    2. It’s obvious he had some type of an x-ray scanner on his phone and was just attempting to photograph the officers belly button. harmless really. Why he would do this I do not know.

      1. He was doing it to check out their vaccine status.

    3. I also noticed right away that he was trying to reach across the officer’s body and gear…and this was just from my own observations, not from any right-leaning media. If he was trying to capture or scan communications signatures, and if he was trying to incite riots or violence, then he knew what he was getting into.
      ————

As someone who’s been involved with numerous protests, and having had a few verbal confrontations with police officers as a result, I know for a fact that there are those of us who advocate for legitimate protests, and there are others who seek out violence and who try to cause chaos for their own purposes. More than anything, we should ALWAYS strive for the truth, no matter which way it points. Anything else is succumbing to the narrative masters who exist at every level and on every side of a debate.

      1. “If he was trying to do these made-up things a blogger invented in his imagination on literally no basis whatsoever, then he knew what he was getting into.”

This is madness. I’m convinced there’s no act of police brutality people won’t run apologia for.

        1. It may be irrelevant but I’m curious as to these posters position on capital punishment?

        2. Watch the video. He very clearly is reaching across two officers bodies in a scanning motion. Perhaps he was trying to do something to their equipment, or perhaps they thought he was going for one of their guns — which was very possible given his movements.
          ————————

Anyone is free to watch the video in order to confirm for themselves what happened. Also, the cracking sound on the pavement that people think is his head hitting the ground was the sound of his motorcycle helmet hitting the ground.
          ———————–

oh that is why he was in serious but stable condition in the hospital. you are aware that headgear doesn’t protect boxers, correct?

          2. The blood running out of his ears doesn’t matter because the cracking sound was his helmet, not his head.

How can he grab a gun with a hand that is holding a phone?

Why don’t you confirm the facts from actually watching the video, as you recommend doing, instead of making pictures from narratives that other people have put into your head?

      2. “Trying to capture or scan communication signatures’

Yeah, I worked with classified military comm and encryption gear. This is just something that you pulled out of your ass, whole cloth.

        1. Close but not quite. A disinformation network pulled it out of their ass and blogged it out to buffer the threat to power that is now on the street. Spongebrains like a few on here then just mindlessly soak it up and spread it around like fleas spreading viral confusion, thereby helping to excuse the inexcusable. That’s why calling them idiots is not ad hominem. It is an acutely relevant objective description of their function within the matter.

    4. “Professional agitator”. Nah, but you’re an unpaid jack-ass.

    5. Thank You Kevin for the post. Without it I would have never seen this. I re read what I posted last night. I was not making fun of you. |That said Liberals I believe you need to take a knee and ask forgiveness to all of humanity for you behavior. In the end you have created a society where people are fearful of expressing themselves. You reduce the quantity and quality of human perspective and intellectual insight. You seek to dominate and rule over the human consciousness You applaud and support those who do this and that is where you wander off into a land of self-delusion.

      1. Summary: Clint is cool with police brutality and orders his interpretations accordingly, OR Clint is not cool with police brutality but cannot see it as a prevailing regime (idiot?) and has no clue whatsoever of the historical precedents indicating what can and what cannot change such regimes (uninformed, and an idiot for being assertive in the face of that deficiency?) and orders his interpretations accordingly.

See. it’s cutting you slack to call you an idiot. The other options is that you’re a closet fascist.

        1. Clint is not cool with police brutality and has often believed that something is far amiss. Clint just sees it as one aspect of world with many such issues often involving violence. In this context it is not the ‘prevailing regime’. Clint is mostly preoccupied with war which contains multitudes more violence and threatens to turn the planet into a large flaming orbiting marshmallow. Clint quit the Republican party over war. Clint will never vote for a Democrat as long as they say the Second Amend. is about ‘hunting’ whereas the increasingly militarized police and Gov. will then have a monopoly on firearms and Power. Clint believes that historical precedents for change involves Power. Clint believes that power can take different forms, violence, legislative. Clint prefers civil dialog. Clint believes when you attempt to label someone a fascist just because you can you are attempting to cheat. Clint believes this is Intellectually dishonest and kills civil dialog. Clint believes your comments drip hate and venom from contempt of anyone who would question your beliefs and interpretations as 100% correct.

          1. Clint doesn’t seem to understand that power has never yielded to intellectual request. It has to be brought kicking and screaming to the ‘conversation’ table, either by disablement or by embarrassment that is beyond its capacity to endure.

Clint also entertains significant cognitive dissonance. He advocates ‘civil discourse’ as a fundamental value yet adamantly supports retention of private arms for private militia action. Within that tortured conceptual context he sees as unacceptable the current mass public dissent, which does necessarily contain pockets of rioting (doubtless exaggerated in proportion by the corporate media and shill disinformation sites).

            Go figure.

            1. Your problem Greg is I don’t believe you really care about anyone. It all seems to be just about what you want and how you see things. People aren’t people to you unless they agree with you. Otherwise no matter how well meaning they are just adversaries. Your words drip venom and contempt.
So lets begin, “power has never yielded to intellectual request” politicians make their careers based of the the intellectual request of ‘the people’ They hold power. Make the case for the changes you want then find a candidate who will represent them. “Either by disablement” I suppose you mean power against power. Just outright conflict. I just see that as a last resort when all other avenues have been completely exhausted. Even then it is sketchy. Really good laws and civil guarantees are not the product of war but of very good debate and negotiation. Gov. is a public service. I believe the Bill of Rights is based on our rights as individuals to use our brain as our primary source in determining what is right for our lives and the lives of our families. I don’t believe anyone should take that right away from us. No man or group of people should get to play God. No one is that special. Humans are the most dangerous animal on the planet. That said our history is one of war and constant death dealt our by our fellow man. Our world is awash in weapons, our Gov spent 750 billion this year. One day there may rise to power a leader like yourself who only sees those who interpret the world as he does as worthy of participating. The rest will become ‘undesirables’, useless eaters’ or ‘deplorables’. They will take away that unwritten and written contract that says we are all equal and deserving to make our own destiny. No I will not stand aside and watch my family herded into a cattle car. “he sees as unacceptable the current mass public dissent” Never said that. Protest, there needs to be police reform, badly. I just don’t jive with the death and destruction part. People owning private business bearing the brunt and cost of your protest. I don’t jive with the irrational vilification of all police as seeing what the brothers in the hood do should make me vilify all blacks. You are the people who everything you preach against. Intolerance, stereotyping (racism), hate, you end up practicing. What bothers me most is the total lack of civil discourse and rational thought. You have replaced all that with social acceptance. As long as you have support socially what you say or do can be right or wrong, make sense or not. Most of all intellectual honesty is not a valued trait. It is an us against them. You are a mob not a protest. Protest have actual rational demands, You are just wanting to lynch people.

              1. “Make the case for the changes you want then find a candidate who will represent them. ”

So you propose we ‘vote’ change in? Alrighty then.

Disablement can mean simply shutting things down. Refusing to participate in the ongoing funnelling of wealth to the elite until they respond with some useful commitment. This is already happening to some extent in this current matter, although that may still be a deceit. The pressure needs to be maintained to ensure delivery of more than just lip-service. Such a course is way more reasonable than the armed militia fetish that you propose to hold dear, almost to a religious degree if you’re at the median of such sentiment.

I have no problem with disagreement. I do have a problem with fuckwits who can’t see both an accumulating impost upon human integrity and an opportunity for positive change to that derangement when it veritably hits them in the face. Go advocate for your stupid (and stupidly misunderstood) 2nd amendment. Leave important issues of morality alone, You’re not up to it. I certainly have no time for such lack of proportion, which is most probably why I appear so testy toward these bizarre prevarications upon this issue.

Quite literally: “here’s a doorway through which to move away from this horrific condition”. “No, I want to stand still and hold it closed by obsessing over the hinges it hangs upon”.

                1. So as for firearms go and the ability to project power on those who are defenseless, you advocate that the military and police should have sole possession and absolute power in personal arms. Besides what could go wrong? What is this today, oh national police appreciation day, my goodness. I almost got distracted from the endless wars and fabricated enemies. “Positive change” I don’t see loosing your mind, your ability to listen to others, demonizing those who don’t see the world just as you do and the loss of civil, rational conversation as ‘positive’
The doorway? Yes there is a doorway. You just haven’t seen it yet. Here is the link to the only doorway I see. What was it you said, something about intellectual discourse never unseating power. Well I think that really is the key. As I have told Caitlin many times, we can rage against the machine all we want, in the end though the machine will win. We have to find another way and I believe this is it. I have been at this for twenty years and I have seen nothing but a steady consolidation of power at the top. Here we are two activist in our own way raging at each other, lots of good this is doing. Please do read the book. I wrote this book because I see it as our only real hope. So read it, then if you have questions get back to me. Thanks and good luck

                  1. Why are you so linear in your thinking? (rhetorical question) Why not radically reduce police armaments and their (stolen) social license to use them as they now do?

The machine changes when the production of its priority output is adequately interrupted, not because it is talked to nicely. Power does not reason. It exerts itself.

                    1. “Why are you so linear in your thinking? (rhetorical question) Why not radically reduce police armaments and their (stolen) social license to use them as they now do? “ One critique I always give of the left is that they don’t always put things in context. They are overtly idealistic. Perhaps because they are young. I was super idealistic when I was young. I wish what you said could be true I just don’t see it happening. Human behavior will always in my mind revert to the mean. That is if thing don’t change “fundamentally’ and when I say fundamentally, I mean fundamentally. One reason I am here on Caitlins page is that she says at times, “we must change our relationship with thought” and I believe that 100%. Here is what I believe, we live in a world dominated by ‘individual’ intelligence. It has always been our only option. Now consider the whole of human logic and reason. Where is it encompassed , in the whole of humanity, in all of us, we the people. So what do we do? We transition from a world dominated by ‘individual’ intelligence where we depend on leaders to a world dominated by a ‘collective’ intelligence. The world will change fundamentally and I will no longer need my 2nd. Amend. Because the war that rages intellectually within humanity will be a thing of the past. A truly evolutionary step, absolutely evolutionary. Either we close the gap with our technology or our technology will close the gap which will not be good. 12th century man which is who we are will not long survive our technological age. Concerning power, reason is power. Will our leaders continue to lead us around by the nose when the entirety of society can point to the fallacies within the arguments they put forth. Leaders for the most part will become obsolete, think wagon wheels. Anyway thanks for the questions I sincerely hope you do read my book. I will at least perhaps give you a perspective you may not have considered. Thanks

                    2. To honour this pursuit of individual intelligence, you need to reconcile your contradictions. You say the enforcers won’t put down their weapons and that’s why the private citizens need to keep theirs yet at the time you call for intelligent debate to resolve this current issue not direct action, which given the mood of the populace does include riots, although almost certainly not at the level being projected by corporate media.

Sorry but I can’t acquiesce to this degree of dissonance. I have no such dilemma about the need for change and what is required for it to occur. If you call that naive well so be it. That is very likely a product of your confusion.Your country is burning for sound and predictable reasons. Get your head around it.

                    3. “To honour this pursuit of individual intelligence” what does this mean? My pursuit is for a ‘Collective Intelligence’ because a collective Intelligence is in my mind the next page in the human experience. “you need to reconcile your contradictions” I don’t have any contradictions other than the ones you created for me. No I don’t think it is realistic to think that law enforcement will someday be on patrol without sidearms. It would be a desire of mine that law enforcement not become militarized, none of this though is like the reason I believe in and support the 2nd. You make it sound like I picked up a newspaper then decided to go out and buy a gun. My belief in civilian firearms ownership is more of a fundamental belief in the equality of men and the right to personal self defense. That said I will always vie for intelligent debate, What is the alternative, emotional debate? If you have beliefs that are sound and based on reason, are logical, relate to the real world as we believe we understand it then why would debate ever get heated? Why would I need to demonize another to ‘win’. I can always listen quietly. If you have something to say that alters the way I see the world in a clearer perspective then I will thank you for it. Screaming at people, intimidation and forcing beliefs on people I am very much against. If you want the best instruction manual / guide to understanding the human experience go to Amazon and buy a used book on Fallacies. You could also go online to the Stanford Encyclopedia of Epistemology. “I have no such dilemma about the need for change and what is required for it to occur.” I have no dilemma about the need for change, again except for the one you assigned to me. ‘We are Change’ Luke Rudkowski I was reading them a decade ago. I was a state delegate for Ron Paul 2x. It was after this though that I realized real change would never come in time. That is when I wrote my book, the one you obviously see no reason to read. What do I see. I do see we need great ‘changes’ the first being nuclear disarmament. What I see underlying all our issues, yours and mine is human intellectual chaos. Think of the totality of human perspective and logic. You have to see it is ‘fractured’ everyone has a piece of it and interprets it according to the ‘self’ . There is the issue that if we could fix it would resolve all our other ‘issues’. What I see is an angry, crazed, irrational mob attempting to force change by using the very means they are protesting about. Fighting racism with racism what a novel idea. Just raw unchecked force of power like an army going through a foreign country. Except it is our country. What else do I see? I see liberals egging this on for years because it gets them votes. They forment racial division as a means to an end. This is not just about ‘cops’ this is about ‘white’ people. Somehow I guess the logic is that if you demonize and brutalize a certain people with hate long enough the will submit and become the livestock you want them to be. Sounds kind of like what you are fighting against.

        2. “Prevailing regime” not sure what that means. All I know is that humans are equal in the sense that no one person or group of persons are above the norm to play God. We all have the right to work things out how we determine. This is what the bill of rights is all about in my mind. No one person or group of people is so perfect or wonderful that they get to determine the life questions and answers for others. Prevailing Regime. Soldiers vs. Policmen. Where policemen are putting a knee on the neck, Soldiers are killing random people for random reasons, torturing in black sites, raping. Where police are pushing and shoving soldiers are shooting all the males above 16 years of age.
Sadly what I believe is that in the long run humans will never reconcile our different perspectives. In that sense our technology becomes lethal to us, all. That is why I wroth this book. I see it as the only avenue for hope. We must step through the door to a new playing field so to speak. Why am I here? Because Caitlin is read by Independents ( the left refers to them as alt-right, it makes them sound bad and scary) because of her stance against the media and the globalist. Two she often spoke of how we needed to “change our relationship with thought” which sums up my book in detail. I thought I could offer her the answer her readers kept asking her for. So far no luck.

          1. Prevailing regime means: (prevailing) widespread and dominant; (regime) a systematic function rather than incidental one.

These events are a cultural behaviour, not ones of occasional aberration.

Police vs Soldiers? This apparent difference can be understood simply as a threshold along a gradient of the same manifest reality. Exotic physical and cultural types are conceptually and politically easier to kill in large numbers than your own citizens. This threshold is mobile along that gradient according to needs and means. Watch this space if these ‘riots’ do not adequately provoke the necessary changes.

    6. “Martin Gugino is a 75-year-old professional agitator and Antifa provocateur who brags on his blog about the number of times he can get arrested and escape prosecution.”

Just for the argument let’s accept all of that. That makes caving his head in is ok? A surging wall of militarised police need to protect their safety and their mission by clearing away an old man in such violent fashion. You’re good with that? Regardless of the old man’s politics, your premise is stupid. Indeed it is worse than stupid. It is inhumane and facilitating of an inhumane social system. You should try to think more deeply about the meaning of things before you open your mouth.

  37. Dozens of video montages of police violence have involved police pushing people to the ground. It’s not just a few. There is more of this than police beating people with batons. What struck me is these clips were from all over the country. This is not just some guy getting pushy. It is a tactic that is obviously being overtly taught. It ends the conversation, it puts the person at a disadvantage so he can’t come back at you, and the injuries happen when they hit the ground, not directly at the policeman’s hands, so there is deniability (e.g. “he tripped”). Speaking of injury, there is major risk of head injury, as illustrated in particular by the Martin Gugino incident, but also a young woman, early on, who was thrown down and hit her head on the curb (leading to a seizure on the way to the hospital). This tactic is being applied wholesale and without discrimination. I have seen two clips with elderly men being pushed down: the one in Buffalo and one in Utah where the guy had a cane.

At first the fact that 57 police resigned in protest when the two who pushed the elderly man were disciplined seemed outrageous. It IS outrageous, but if you realize this is the Go-To maneuver they have been taught to use instinctively, it makes sense from their perspective. “First you tell us to push down anyone who approaches us, then you discipline us when it ends in injury.”

I am posting this little essay because I think it is important to realize the nature of the situation. We are not up against bad apples. We are up against a dehumanized system, where police are being taught how to dominate in a confrontational situation rather than being taught how to bring peace to an inflamed situation.

I saw one clip where several black guys approached a police line to try to talk with them. Immediately, and repeatedly, the police pushed the lead man, but the others literally had his back and kept him from falling down. It was clear to me they had caught on to the nature of the tactics being used and figured out how to counteract them.

        1. I would generally agree about police brutality, but having watched the advancing-towards-officers behavior of the tall white man, and his quick movement with cellphone toward the belly of one officer, followed quickly by a very modest shove to his chest, I must side with the police on this one. That was actually good behavior from an officer detailed to clearing an area, against a tall and seemingly vigorous male advancing, then invading his personal space. I’m surprised that charges are being pressed, see it as a political action, and I agree with the logic of the rest of that special detail resigning from the special detail, if they are to be blamed for this relatively good-behavior work.
Really, everybody. Look at how that guy advanced on the officers in the line moving forward to clear the area. He was pushed so lightly that it took him 6 feet of walking backwards to finally fall down.

          1. It’s not okay to assault people just because you’re wearing a badge and they’re in your way. That’s not a thing.

            1. Thanks Sister, They were fairly well within the boundaries of their job, well within training, so they were betrayed by those who command them. They were on good-behavior-for-situation. You’ll see lots of videos of real bad behavior. I’m sick of them, but I’m really careful around cops…

              1. The fact that police assaulting a stranger for getting in their way is considered “within the boundaries of their job” is the problem that people are trying to fix here. We shouldn’t have to be “really careful around cops”. That’s the problem that people are trying to fix here.

                1. It will only get worse if the people you are cheering on get to “fix it”.
                  .
This is not the birth of a better society. This is another colour revolution.
                  .
You have not thought this one through. Something is clouding your vision.

                  1. ‘Colour revolution’! That’s morbidly amusing. At last, a real one for once. The coloured people are sick of being apprehended, harassed, beaten and shot for no good reason.

          2. “followed quickly by a very modest shove to his chest”. What shove? I’ve watched the video several times, and the tall white man doesn’t even get close to shoving anyone. He doesn’t make contact with the policeman. If it were true, then why are you the only person talking about a ‘shove’?.

            1. It’s very hard to tell what replies to what/whom. I meant the police officers modestly shoved the chest of the tall white man, after he walked up to their advance, and put his cellphone close to their bodies.
If the enforcers quite their special-duty enforcing, because their masters blame them for exactly following their training and orders, then that’s one small move towards the enforcers changing sides. At that point, regime changes.

              1. A modest shove? Apply some physics to the equation and get back to me.

The enforcers changing sides may well pivot on them being betrayed by their overlords, however that betrayal is precipitated by the public unrest. Prevaricating over this instance is simply an obstruction of the force needed to prompt that necessary betrayal. You’re seeing trees that interrupt your perception of the forest.

          3. All those seemingly insightful posts and in just one you reveal that you’re a fucking idiot. This is where the pretension and machination of thought is betrayed by how your soul sees things.

        2. Why descend to personal attacks. You’re much better than that.

    2. A well balanced assessment, Sir.
