“Russia Secretly Offered Afghan Militants Bounties to Kill Troops, U.S. Intelligence Says”, blares the latest viral headline from The New York Times. NYT’s unnamed sources allege that the GRU “secretly offered bounties to Taliban-linked militants for killing coalition forces in Afghanistan — including targeting American troops”, and that the Trump administration has known this for months.

To be clear, this is journalistic malpractice. Mainstream media outlets which publish anonymous intelligence claims with no proof are just publishing CIA press releases disguised as news. They’re just telling you to believe what sociopathic intelligence agencies want you to believe under the false guise of impartial and responsible reporting. This practice has become ubiquitous throughout mainstream news publications, but that doesn’t make it any less immoral.

Whenever one sees a news headline ending in “US Intelligence Says”, one should always mentally replace everything that comes before it with “Blah blah blah we’re probably lying”. In a post-Iraq invasion world, the only correct response to unproven anonymous claims about a rival government by intelligence agencies from the US or its allies is to assume that they are lying until you are provided with a mountain of independently verifiable evidence to the contrary. The US has far too extensive a record of lying about these things for any other response to ever be justified as rational, and its intelligence agencies consistently play a foundational role in those lies.

Voices outside the mainstream narrative control matrix have been calling these accusations what they are: baseless, lacking in credibility, and not reflective of anything other than fair play even if true.

“Same old story: alleged intelligence ops IMPOSSIBLE to verify, leaked to the press which reports them quoting ANONYMOUS officials,” tweeted journalist Stefania Maurizi.

“So we are to simply believe the same intelligence orgs that paid bounties to bring innocent prisoners to Guantanamo, lied about torture in Afghanistan, and lied about premises for war from WMD in Iraq to the Gulf of Tonkin ‘attack’? All this and no proof?” tweeted author and analyst Jeffrey Kaye.

“It’s totally outrageous for Russia to support the Taliban against Americans in Afghanistan. Of course, it’s totally fine for the U.S. to support jihadi rebels against Russians in Syria, jihadi rebels who openly said the Taliban is their hero,” tweeted author and analyst Max Abrams.

On the flip side all the McResistance pundits have been speaking of this baseless allegation as a horrific event that is known to have happened, with Rachel Maddow going so far as to describe it as Putin offering bounties for the “scalps” of American soldiers in Afghanistan. This is an interesting choice of words considering that offering bounties for scalps is in fact one of the many horrific things the US government did in furthering its colonialist ambitions, which, unlike the New York Times allegation, is known to have actually happened.

It is true as many have been pointing out that it would be fair play for Russia to fund violent opposition the the US in Afghanistan, seeing as that’s exactly what the US and its allies have been doing to Russia and its allies in Syria, and did to the Soviets in Afghanistan via Operation Cyclone. It is also true that the US military has no business in Afghanistan anyway and any violence inflicted upon US troops abroad is the fault of the military expansionists who put them there; the US military has no place outside its own easily-defended borders and the assumption that it is normal for a government to circle the planet with military bases is a faulty premise.

But before even getting into such arguments, the other side of the debate must meet its burden of proof that this has even happened. That burden is far from met. It is literally the US intelligence community’s job to lie to you. The New York Times has an extensive history of pushing for new wars at every opportunity, including the unforgivable Iraq invasion which killed a million people based on lies. A mountain of proof is required before such claims should be seriously considered, and we are very, very far from that.

I will repeat myself: it is the US intelligence community’s job to lie to you. I will repeat myself again: it is the US intelligence community’s job to lie to you. Don’t treat these CIA press releases with anything but contempt.

  1. I’ve grown up in a world of pervasive deception. I was born into it and never knew it existed until I was “over the hill”. The story is the same for my parents and grandparents, only they never knew it existed, because they never woke up to the truth. I see the deception everywhere now. The question becomes, “Is there anything that is not a deception?” CIA Director William Casey said, “We’ll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false.” Well, that day has arrived.

  2. The latest information attack by an intelligence agency and patriotic media already brought many fruits that will be consumed in the fullness of time. Democrats got some new reasons for patriotic grandstanding. That is actually a minor achievement. The attack was very bold, stripped from any elements of plausibility (more precisely, any details that would make it a “falsifiable statement” as oppose to “gut feeling” of unnamed intelligence agents, hard to deny that they could feel exactly that when they constipate or produce very loose stools).

This boldness revealed new enemies of the “confirmed genuine news” who can in due time be stripped of the title “quotable source of Wikipedia” using their dissonance with “credible, quotable media”. More scalps to be collected in the ongoing war on the “fake news”. Various think tanks, social organizations etc. will have more material for their reports, the precious Wikipedia will be yet more pristine — although revelations about new fake authors cited by Caitlin show the necessity of more work, more donations and grants etc.

  3. We live in a world that is both beautiful and ugly, horrible and wonderful. Terrifying and funny. According to Google translate the phrase ‘blah blah blah’ is Arabic for ‘I love you’. I’m just a little concerned that this article may not be well understood when machine translated to that audience.

  4. Google something like “Mike Pompeo laughingly confessed that as Director of CIA. I ‘lied, cheated, and stole’, with much applause from the audience (Texas A & M University ?) — why in the world is nobody (or so it seems) pushing this amazing revelation every hour of every day, of every week, of every month, of every year — I don’t get it — videos of Mike Pompeo’s amazing confession are available on YouTube, and should be propagated far and wide — but I’m not seeing much of anything in this regard — am I missing something?

  5. George Kennan said the following just a few years before the dissolution of the USSR.

“Were the Soviet Union to sink tomorrow under the waters of the ocean, the American military-industrial establishment would have to go on, substantially unchanged, until some other adversary could be invented. Anything else would be an unacceptable shock to the American economy.”

What Kennen said waaay back in the 1980s is even more true today — that if world peace breaks out; if Donito should actually shake hands with Putin and Mr. Xi and Mr. Kim, and sign some peace treaties, the US’s Fed-funded, war-spending-based economy would literally, and I do mean LITERALLY, collapse almost instantly. The USD would be instantly de-throned as the de facto world reservce currency. Political and social chaos would ensue in the US.

Donito’s campaign speeches about making nice with Russia and then, after he was elected, his shaking hands with Mr. Putin and saying that he believed Putin when he said that Russia had not interferred in the US election, even though US intelligence agencies agreed that Russia had indeed done that, caused the US Elite and their MSM slaves to accuse Donito of being a traitor, Putin’s puppet, etc. You remember. Just exactly WHY did they do that when they aboslutely knew that Donito was right (and the transcripts now prove that he and Putin were right)?

There is one, and only one, explanation that “fits” absolutely everything — the US economy requires enemies that justfiy the annual (forever) war budget that, directly or indirectly, employs tens of millons of US voters.

How do all of these polticians like Schiff, Clapper, Comey, etc. and the MSM get away with all of their lies? They get away with it because of legislation that was passed a few years ago that allowed the US government to legally propagandize (lie to) American citizens within the US and, not only that, literally pay the MSM to do it. It was called the “Smith-Mundt Modernization Act of 2012” Do yourself a big favor and read it.

    https://www.govinfo.gov/content/pkg/BILLS-112hr5736ih/pdf/BILLS-112hr5736ih.pdf

A small part of the above:

    “112TH CONGRESS 2D SESSION

    H. R. 5736

To amend the United States Information and Educational Exchange Act of 1948 to authorize the domestic dissemination of information and material about the United States intended primarily for foreign audiences, and for other purposes.

    IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

    MAY 10, 2012

Mr. THORNBERRY (for himself and Mr. SMITH of Washington) introduced the
following bill; which was referred to the Committee on Foreign Affairs

    A BILL

To amend the United States Information and Educational Exchange Act of 1948 to authorize the domestic dissemination of information and material about the United States intended primarily for foreign audiences, and for other purposes.”

    Etc.

With the above relatively new legislation in mind, it is easy to understand why and how high-level politicians in America get away with (stay out of jail for) lying to Americans 24/7. Essentially, as long as the liars tell the truth while under oath in secret testimony, they can say whatever the fuck they want in front of TV cameras. And boy do they do just that.

Once again with even more feeling, the purpose of this VIP+MSM propaganda is to maintain in the minds of US citizens the belief that the US has existential threats to its national security in the form of Russia, China, Iran and, believe it or don’t, Venezuela and Nicaragua! (Again, this is all done to maintain the war budget and its millions of jobs.)

    1. If part of the world peace deal is that Donito gets to emcee the Miss World Contest, we probably got outnegotiated, but he might accept the economic hit from the loss of the Military Industrial complex for a deal like that. Room for hope.

  6. Hooo, right again, the Taliban did respond,
    https://de.sputniknews.com/politik/20200627327430779-nach-nyt-artikel-taliban-bewegung-dementiert-vorwuerfe-ueber-russische-finanzierung/

hopefully the same article is in english on the dotcom-site,
    Taliban said nope to NYT.

    1. Yes, thanks for the heads up:

Taliban Refutes Reports on Russia’s Alleged Role in Killings of US Troops in Afghanistan

  7. I have it on good authority from verified sources which I cannot reveal that everything the MSM tells us is true. Now shutup because I cant hear what Rachel Maddow is saying about what is really happening in the world today. Then over to Jeanine Pirro to get the rest of the truth I need to know.

  8. Thoughtful comment. Reminds how important it is that sources be verified. Well said, Caitlin.

  9. So it is going around New York that the United States Attorney was fired because he was investigating ” a child trafficing ring ” associated with the ” late Mr. Epstein “. The hits just keep on coming with our government. Read about it here:
    https://thefreethoughtproject.com/trump-admin-fires-berman-lawyer-refusing/

    1. There is also a version that Berman (not me) was investigating the participation of various luminaries like Goldman Sachs in looting an investment fund of Malaysia of few billion dollars. In both cases, firing him should be a bipartisan cause.

The average person has absolutely no control over what media outlets, governmental, quasi-governmental, and other know-it-all outfits put out into the public space. That is akin to some stranger barging into your home and putting a pile of garbage out on your home’s kitchen table and telling you to eat all of it.
    .
That’s where YOU come in. So, what do you decide to do with that stuff? Do you just go ahead and make a meal out of it like you were told to? Do you select the least offensive items and begin to nibble on those? Or do you throw all that crap out and look for some real nutritious food?
    .
It’s all up to you. No matter how attractively it might be packaged, if it’s made out of garbage…it is still garbage. And if you decide to eat it, then don’t complain that it doesn’t smell or taste good.

What another blatant Anti American Pro Russian article .
Last time I checked Russia went in to bomb Syrians helping ” Washington” which is a war machine that consists of many nations under the Oligarchy. Russians also had invaded Afghanistan for ten years before the US in ’79-89 .
The spooks call intel the “5 eyes” when its actually one eye.
You can replace what any of the branches of global intelligence agency says with “bla bla lies”.
Nationalization is also a divide and conquer technique… and the ego loves enemies.
This article has nothing to do with revealing the truth .
If the CIA (and its global allies) have to rely more on alt “left” blogs more for mind control then they should really lift their game.

    Let the truth be revealed.
    Amen

    1. The “calamity” for Syrians, dear Jane, is traced to a bad habit Uncle Sam would do well to break. That would be the habit of employing terrorists, or “death squads”, infamously in the Middle East and Central/South America, to “achieve” geopolitical ends that are nearly as ethically abhorrent as are the means.
In Syria, nothing less than the defense of our common humanity, respect for international law and Syrian sovereignty, and to put it clearly, barbarism vs. civilization was/is at stake. Of course Russia, besides doing the right and moral thing, also had the self-interest of protecting their “underbelly” from being overrun with terrorists which would then be used to destabilize Russia. Far from “helping” Washington, the Russian response in Syria helped clear much of Syria of a vile infestation. Sadly, that “victory” is incomplete (Idleb) and is tempered by the continued U.S. occupation of Syrian oil fields and Washington’s vicious sanctioning which prevents the Syrians from rebuilding and recovering. You should be ashamed of your glib take on a situation that involves so much imposed (and thus obviously preventable) human suffering.

      1. Thank you for your thoughtful reply to an absolutely cretinous comment. I would also point out that the government in Kabul invited the Soviets in while we were busy funding the Taliban under Jimmy Carter. Our crimes are legion.

        1. Actually, Soviets entered when Afghan communists who were in power were fighting each other, so the side that included the very recently murdered president invited the intervention against the sitting president.

  12. I say that X happened (militants received bounties), but I am lying.

It is a waste of everybody’s time to work at determining whether X happened, if I am smart enough to make it so nobody can prove that it did not happen. The possibility of proving that it happened exists if it did happen, but I lied, and I win because you cannot prove that I am wrong.

So, the criteria for discarding a story, is seeing no way to prove that it is false, if it is false. What you are supposed to do, is run with the fact that the story could be proved true, and then waste your time and effort seeing if it is.

The key is starting with the assumption that the story is false – not because you have a bad attitude, but for logical reasons. If this story is false, then there is no militant who was paid a ransom. The question is whether you can ever prove that. Looks like they win.

On the other hand, if I say that a parrot in a cage is not dead, but the parrot is dead, I am challenging you to prove that the parrot is dead, which is dumb if I am lying. This would not be me lying; this would be me being wrong. It is possible to prove that I am wrong, so my claim might be worth looking into. Upon further investigation, the parrot is found to be dead, and I am found to be wrong. If I then refuse to alter my belief state, I have created an artificial scenario where there is no way to prove that my proposition is false, and this explains why nobody wants to argue with me anymore.

Can;t we just replace ‘U.S. Intelligence says,’ with ‘Deep State says. Then it would read, ‘We’re probably lying, but your shadow government says…’

I saw that NY Times article on AOL and my first reaction was, “What B.S.” My second reaction was ,”Russia, Russia, Russia, give that writer a Snickers bar”

  14. Your suggested predicate is applicable to any and all government agency, of any nation. They are psychopaths, and often lie when the truth would serve them better. If any mistakenly told the truth to any significant degree, the pitchforks, wooden rails, tar and feathers would come out.

    1. (Good) knowledge is power, so it’s in the interests of those addicted to power to acquire it themselves and deny it to others. On important matters, then, governments and ruling classes can be expected to lie; and this is what we observe.

The current story, though, is weird in that it is so improbable. The Russians went into Afghanistan to oppose violent, radical Islamists because they feared their influence on their own territories. If the US does this work, the Russians don’t have to, so they would assist, rather than impede, the US imperial efforts there. Furthermore, it would distract the US from Russian interests closer to Russia, like Ukraine/Crimea and Syria. — It looks like the quality of American propaganda has gone down yet another notch.

  15. “Nearly every war that has started in the past 50 years has been a result of media lies.”
    — Julian Assange
    .
    Video: https://twitter.com/sahouraxo/status/1248398635408080896

  16. Why should we continue to focus our thoughts on the endless stream of propaganda emitted, like corona virus spores, from the sick mouths of the MSM? Rather than address this propaganda spore-by-spore, itself an endless task, why not just mask ourselves from it and continually wash our minds? The Gray Lady has been on a ventilator for a long time, so why even talk about her? Just pull the plug.

    1. “We’re an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality. And while you’re studying that reality — judiciously, as you will — we’ll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that’s how things will sort out. We’re history’s actors . . . and you, all of you, will be left to just study what we do.”
      .
So the obvious thing is to stop wasting time judiciously studying their fake reality. We are all history’s actors. We all create reality. (Sorry, I know that’s a platitude).

  17. Is there any truth to the story that Afghan tribal warlords became so saturated with payoff cash in dollars (as opposed to rubles) that they increasingly had to be bribed in more tangible things such as “boner pills”? How about some even more handy things like the latest in shoulder fired anti-aircraft weapons? Is it true they only work against Russian aircraft? Does Boris and Natasha know all this? Da or nyet? This asks the old question, “What do you use to bribe a warlord who already has everything?”. To digress (just a little) does anyone care to discern a few of the hits available from a search on “Obama purge of military” to remind themselves that all of the current U.S. military leaders including some who have subsequently served in Executive Branch positions somehow managed to survive same? What were/are the selection parameters for that? To again digress (or perhaps not), does anyone care to discern a few of the hits available from a search on “Afghan Muslims curtail poppy crop” to remind themselves that a statement such as “It is also true that the US military has no business in Afghanistan anyway” as cited within this article might be totally missing the whole point as to why the US military has been engaged in its longest continually running, never ending “police action” in that particular country? What really happened to Pat Tillman and why? Then again, it appears that a comparison of searches between Google and Duck Duck Go for “Forbes on Afghanistan” exhibits some differences in the “flavor” of the results. Google quickly lists that Forbes also quickly re-reported on this “Russian bounty” NY Times story. Is it that both Google and Forbes is “well connected” while Duck lags somewhat behind with the narrative? Have a great weekend, folks.

    1. As to Pat Tillman:

  18. So horrible and so true.

Londonreal is a good guy it seems. Unluckily while I think he is a good guy it is so hard to know anything these days.

Good may be bad. Bad may be good.

Magenta Pixie is a “Light Worker” and communicates with the group of Nine.

Sounds good. Is it true or is it Memorex. That is the question.

Always loved that “commercial” where the stereo blew the guy back. Back when cadettes were the big new music source.

Notice I am all over the place, yes?

That is how we are supposed to be. Confused. Nothing is clear.

Bottom line is very clear. Seek out your Heart Space and make it your focus. The mind and those thoughts are not who we are. We are Love. The mind is the enemy. Lead with your heart. No thoughts. Just be. Intuition is the source of Love.

Love will always conquer hate but it must be known. If you are thinking you are in the wrong place. Be one with consciousness by losing self. We are Love.

  19. “Blah, blah, blah, we’re probably lying”

  20. Why might USA spooks make this particular allegation? Probably because they have been doing stuff like this themselves. In mendacitate veritas.

    1. Is that Latin for “He who smelt it, dealt it”? I have noticed that explains a lot of human behavior.

  21. And let’s not forget how the Taliban became such a “force” in Afghan politics:
by the US encouraging and supporting them with funds and weapons against the Soviet Union, via Pakistani intelligence.

  22. It’s always secret evidence from secret sources. Just like the peepee tape.

  23. ” Living the United States of American lie ” is all about the myths and distortions the gullible public must be fed to keep them in line with ” the program”. Morality and ethics have been eliminated; please just swallow the bullshit and like it.

  24. Sadly far too many people faithfully believe everything they hear. On the bright side the MSM and intelligence community crossed the rubicon trying to smear Trump so now fewer believe than 20 years ago.

  25. I’ve seen some of those videos on the deep Web of Russian soldiers having their heads cut off by the Taliban when it was the US that was paying for it. I’ve seen videos of innocent Iraqi citizens being skinned alive at checkpoints in Baghdad by US soldiers. Their is no legitimate government in the US, it’s all duel citizenship Mafia rapists, thieves and murderers running the US. The courts are nothing more than thinly disguised shakedowns run also by the Mafia. And, the killing of blacks will never end until there are no more blacks in the world to kill, because that’s who these people are and that is their stated mission statement for anyone who cares to read it.

    1. The Mafia meaning the gangsters like Carlos Gambino?

That does not seem like their way at all. They were out only for the buck. They went legit, exactly as explained in the movies. The Godfather.

Those that are running the show are much different. This is evil. Pure Evil and they believe in the Occult and use the Occult in every move they make.

Look at HR 6666. This is a coincidence?

That Democrat supporters, which are an immense part of this country, see no possibility that this is anything but what needs to be done. The brainwashing is so deep it is hard to even imagine let alone watch first hand.

These are regular people supposedly. They truly believe the government’s place is to help people and the country. They have full faith in our trusted journalists.

I wish I could say I am joking but it is not one or two people I am referring to. This is the middle class.

The reality is the brainwashing is so deep that most people have no idea it’s even possible let alone they are the supporting Mob.

I have seen it move through the generations. It is quite different today then 50 years ago. Today it is media driven deep control of a population.

TV, movies, news and who knows what else this country is brainwashed beyond belief.

We can talk about it but it cannot be broken.

  26. I say BS to ““Russia Secretly Offered Afghan Militants Bounties to Kill Troops….! All we get from our MSM is crap, spew, vomit, and dog shit! Well, sorry to tell you this, there is so much more BS coming from the whoring criminal MSM, and please, ALL MUMS & DADS would do well to watch this video on the London Real, by Dr Andrew Wakefield “1986 The Act: What The Government Don’t Want You To Know About Mandatory Vaccines”.
