This sacred pause,

this sacred space,

has opened up

between me and my agreements.

Agreements I made when I was too young to consent.

When:

I agreed that war is normal,

I agreed that greed is good,

I agreed some must die,

I agreed that poverty is unavoidable,

I agreed that everyone must work,

I agreed that you can lie to me for my own good,

I agreed that I was born bad and only punishment by cruel men could make me good,

I agreed that in order to learn I needed to be abused,

I agreed that only things that make money were things worth creating,

I agreed that peace was only to be found in death,

I agreed that home was only to be found in death,

I agreed that release from suffering was only to be found in death,

I agreed that rest was only to be found in death,

I agreed that heaven was only to be found in death,

I agreed that bliss was only to be found in death,

I agreed not to assert my right to have any of these things until I died,

I agreed that I did not have a right to a home,

I agreed that I did not have a right to food,

I agreed that I did not have a right to help,

I agreed that I did not have a right to happiness,

I agreed to give you my body,

I agreed to to have and to hold,

I agreed to pretend you won,

I agreed to let it slide,

I agreed to keep quiet,

I agreed to lie that I was fine,

I agreed to lie to myself that I was fine,

I agreed that your pleasure was more important than mine,

I agreed to feel guilty for what you did to me,

I agreed to hate my body,

I agreed to punish my body,

I agreed to hate myself,

I agreed to punish myself,

I agreed to make your dreams my priority,

I agreed to put mine aside,

I agreed to be obey the rules even when the rules were batshit crazy,

I agreed to abide by the law even when the law was wrong,

I agreed to feeling hopeless instead of feeling anger,

I agreed to skipping straight to disappointment without ever stopping to try,

I agreed to keeping the peace instead of stopping the war,

I agreed to pretend your taunts made me stronger even while they made me weaker,

I agreed to have your babies even when I did not feel safe enough to do so,

I agreed to provide for your babies while pretending you were their provider,

I agreed to protect your babies from you while pretending you were their protector,

I agreed to weave fairytales of how great you are while cleaning up the damage you wrought,

I agreed that what I do is worth nothing, but what you do is worth the world,

I agreed to let you wear my crown and then forget it was mine in the first place,

I agreed that you were the creator even as you destroyed my creations,

I agreed that all I made was yours and it was yours to keep from me.

I rescind these agreements,
as of this moment,
across all space and time,
through every level of the multiverse,
on every strand of DNA,
in every permutation of me,
in all the hiding spots of my being,
in the past, present, and future,
for now and ever more.

I do not consent.

Consent rescinded.

Consent unmanufactured.

Consent undone.

  1. Just came across this and it took my breathe away. Two years ago I had heart surgery. Late one night a technician was drawing blood very badly. Digging around in my arm with her needle to try to find a vein. I had survived heart surgery, intensive care, and 50+ years of general bullshit from authority. And I finally had enough. I looked her right in the eye and said very evenly, “Take your hands off me, I withdraw my consent.” It was one of the most powerful experiences I’ve had. Thank you for writing so many more of the words that were inside of me that night.

  2. Consent Rescinded: Is this you Caitlin? If so, thank you for sharing it with us.

    1. Yeah everything I publish here is by me.

    1. See what Dr Vernon Coleman has to say on this very serious matter: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jyE9cJ0w1hk

    2. I watched an interesting debate between Robert Kennedy Jr. and Alan Dershowitz on vaccines yesterday. The video was posted a few weeks ago, and I’m not familiar with the moderator, but Robert Kennedy Jr. is really good at explaining the problems with vaccines to a general audience.

I found the video link on a Green Party discussion list, and I think it should be distributed widely:

  4. That is what totalitarianism is, this desire to establish complete control over everything and everyone, every thought, emotion, and human interaction. The character of its ideology changes (i.e., Nazism, Stalinism, Maoism, etc.), but this desire for complete control over people, over society, and ultimately life itself, is the essence of totalitarianism … and what has taken over the minds of the New Normals. 5. Once again, Caitlin’s writing tickles a musical memory…. how did that song go? “My name is ‘no’, my number is ‘no’”? Now I have to look it up…
    .
Oh, here it is. Perhaps everyone has heard it, since it has half a billion views on YouTube. It’s a catchy way to exercise your mental “no” muscle:
    .
    “NO” by Meghan Trainor
    .
“Nah to the ah to the no, no, no
My name is no, my sign is no, my number is no”

  6. Extraordinary. You, and now this piece.
No more words needed, except to say that you are my hero.

  7. I am an old man and I find it ludicrous that people believe that Joe Biden could win the presidential election. Joe Biden is senile; it is amazing that he can even stand up and talk. However the words that comes out of his mouth reveal a mind and thought process that is clearly ” out to lunch “. How can the DNC present him for the presidency?? At any rate this article assumes that Joe Biden wins. You can read it here:

    1. You’re right, but does it matter? Trump is hardly an intellectual challenger. Look at the VPs, a sophisticated female hypocrite who is not white verses a politically astute white guy who calls his wife ‘Mother.’ It is a ludicrous race. A geriatric one? A decision between the lesser evils? Maybe, just an exercise in absurdity? But, I think that’s Ms Johnstone’s point: does it matter? The election is an exercise in futility because nothing changes whoever is in power, and we participate in the nonsense by commenting on it. Really smart people waste their time thinking about it. I like reading Ms Johnstone because she inspires me. I’m over 50 so I think that’s a credit to her. I don’t want my international neighbours killed; I don’t want the planet polluted and if saying that means something to someone else maybe if enough of us say or shout, stop the bs, it will. I hope. The above is a lovely poem worth reading because I think your comment refers to an earlier article. Forgive me if I am wrong.

  8. The release a report by the United States Department of States Global Engagement Center (GEC), billed as the Donald Trump administrations “dedicated center for countering foreign disinformation and propaganda, cites the Strategic Culture Foundation in Russia, Canadas Global Research Center, and other on-line publications as “proxy sites” for Russian intelligence and the Russian Foreign Ministry.
The State Departments report is titled, “Pillars of Russias Disinformation and Propaganda Ecosystem” and it is not much different than the series of reports issued by the State Departments “International Information Program” in the mid-2000s that were used to debase United States journalists and authors critical of the George W. Bush-Dick Cheney neo-conservative wars of choice. Those diatribes, like the recent one masquerading as a “special report,” were written on the United States taxpayers dime and represent a squandering of money. This great article can be read here:

  9. To rescind consent –
    “as of this moment,
    across all space and time,
through every level of the multiverse,
    on every strand of DNA,
    in every permutation of me,
in all the hiding spots of my being,
in the past, present, and future,
    for now and ever more.”

…is to live in the moment of your being, free from the attachments of memory, regret, recrimination, desire, hope, and expectation that wheedled you into all those bullshit agreements in the first place. Beyond the declaration, it’s a matter of practice, meditation and good work most helpful/fulfilling.

  10. Caitlin, thank you for having the courage to show us your pain and how it made you what you are today. As Nietsche wrote, “What does not destroy us makes us strong.” Sometimes the worst things in our lives lead to great strength and we are the beneficiaries of your struggles and your strength. What you went through was awful and should not have happened, but now we have you as an example of overcoming, of human resilience. Again, thank you.

  11. Excellent! and agree most full heartedly….

  12. J.J. Rousseau ‘s The Social Contract certainly got it wrong. Maybe that is why it was a fundamental plank in our universities’ Philosophy 101.

  13. You wanna poetry?
‘We live in a time when faith is called arrogance
Love is a 4 letter word
They feed you on lies that insult your intelligence
The voice of compassion is not heard

This is the time the scriptures have prophesied
Now comes the hour of the Beast
This is the time when we ALL could be crucified
    by politicians, businessmen and priests.

We are drowning in a dream where the people think they’re powerless
    Struggling each moment to survive.
We are watching the sands as they run out of the hourglass
And most of us don’t even know that they’re alive

We have sold off our birthright for fantasy and avarice
Legalised the slaughter of the weak
We are well past the point where we’re taking any good advice
Condemned by our actions as we speak.’ ‘4 Letter Word’ Ariel AZ Alexander

You will find this in the middle of ‘Living Outside the Law’ on my eponymous YouTube channel plus 160 more.

    1. Well said! Alas, good advice has long been forgotten, instead we take the advice of fools and wolves dressed in sheep’s clothing. Our end is close, so, make hay while the tech glows …. Chipping and mandatory vaccines are around the corner – my weapons are ready…

    2. May I post your comment? as Ariel?

  14. Well done. Such consents have to be rescinded by uncountable many.

  15. Beautiful Caitlin. Awakening is such a wonderful experience. More of us should choose to live this ultimate high…..!

Thank you for making the time, taking the abuse and speaking the truth.

  17. I was fine with it all, and agreed with most of it, until you got to the part about rights. The most succinct ethical restriction of a right I have ever encountered is “the assumption of my rights require no action on the part of anyone else”. The instant that the assumption of a ‘right’ DOES require someone else’s action, it becomes the enslavement of that someone else.

I agreed that I did not have a right to a home,

I agreed that I did not have a right to food,

I agreed that I did not have a right to help,

I agreed that I did not have a right to happiness,

The assumption of any of these “rights” DOES require the action of others, and so enslaves them to your “rights”.

  18. Philosophical poetry.
There should be more of it.
    Thank you Caitlin.

The most beautiful thing about the human heart (apart from the mysterious energy that powers it) is that it gives Love without any expectations of Love in return. The unconditional Love of Mothers is proof of that.
Our minds on the other hand _ _ _

  19. Superb! Straight to the heart of the matter with a magic bullet.

  20. Most of life you do not give consent. It us simply foisted upon you whether you want it or not. Your consent is not necessary. Your consent is not important. Your consent is not relevant. You are not free to give or withdraw your consent. Your freedom does not matter.

    1. Your consent is given by your silence…..

      1. Agreed. To not fight tyranny is to consent to it or decide to just endure silently.

Here’s a reminder of the Democratic-debate exchange between Tulsi Gabbard and Kamala Harris last year.
Harris’ voice cracks and she flounders, unable to answer the factual accusations about her human rights violations and the injustices she imposed upon the innocent (and potheads) in her reign as prosecutor in San Francisco.
She got some VERY high felony conviction rates! How is that generally done?
Gotta’ avoid trials; just railroad everybody into plea-bargains they can’t refuse.

  24. Its called a Counter-Culture.
That’s the rejection of one culture, and the attempt to build something better.
Last time it was done, millions of people withdrew their consent, and in doing so stopped a war, and set the corporate death machine back 20 years. Unfortunately, they couldn’t drive a stake into its heart and give the corporate death machine the real death, so its back again. But today, even a 20 year setback would seem like a period of heaven compared to the looming Armageddons we face.

Funny, I was just listening to a old Grateful Dead concert when I thought to come check out what’s here today. Very interesting. Love it when the universe connects up and stuff seems to fit and flow. Always tells me that I’m on a good path. 🙂 🙂
One interesting thing about getting old. I don’t regret any of the days I skipped work to go see the Grateful Dead. But I do regret the times I went to work and missed the show and the friendly hippies. 🙂
Note to self, Next time around, see more Grateful Dead shows!!!!!!!
Or maybe next time that will be one of the things that I have to start?
Well, well, well, you can never tell. 😉

    1. In case anyone wants to follow my trail of synchronicity in Merlin’s direction, here’s the link to the Grateful Dead concert video that put me into such a wonderful mood of happy remembrance of the days when I’d get together with tens of thousands of others of Consent Rescindeders and had a real good time.
Put 100,000 people who’ve all rescinded their consent together in a parking lot and a football stadium and enjoy the show. Miracles can happen! 🙂

  25. I was totally blown-away by this. Thank you for articulating what I never could, but always felt.

  26. My consent for you to govern is withdrawn.
    Thanks Catlin.

“It is no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society.” -JK

On the rare and momentary, but nonetheless poignant, occasions my sense of well-being in the face of my utter discontent with, contempt for and rejection of the status quo (and etc., etc.) wobbles, that notion of JK’s comes to mind and reminds me I’m not malfunctioning; it’s the way the world is calibrated that’s out-of-wack.

“Agreements I made when I was too young to consent… I agreed that…”
    .
They say you can’t have a valid contract without voluntary consent and full understanding of what it is you are agreeing to. For most places, we can’t legally agree to anything until we reach the statutory age of adulthood. Anything you think you agreed to before adulthood is void because you don’t have the “right” to agree to anything. Any such “agreements” is more a case of manufactured and forced acceptance
of something from a more powerful outside force exerting unfair influence and manipulation upon you, the vulnerable party.
    .
Problem is, even when people reach “adulthood” they don’t really have an honest clue of what they are “agreeing” to because their brains have already become too polluted with nonsense to make sensible contracts of all forms.
    .
We only should agree and consent to principles and ideas that are worthy of our consent. And, all those who act upon another has an additional duty to be damn sure of what they are promoting to others.

    1. Peace and Love

  30. Ms Johnstone as I read this article I thought to myself the journalist in your country are amazing.
From Hiroshima to New Bagdad, Mr. Burchett and Mr. Assange, two Australian journalists generations apart, confronted the cruelty of nuclear arms and the machinery of war with love for humanity.
With great courage, they tried to demonstrate to us that it is possible to win peace through non-violence, in fact that is the only way to truly end the war. This fine article can be read here:

  31. Dear Caitlin,
    .
This is profound on so many levels. And so completely important at this time!
    .
The dark side takes human consent through manipulation & uses that consent to harm us. Manipulation is the only way they know to control 7 billion people.
    .
Many embodied souls have been leaving earth recently because they’re finding it very difficult to handle the darkness. I’ve been asked by my Soul (Higher Self) to put out a call to all embodied Souls to stay & fight. This is our chance to take earth back from the controllers.
    .
The way to fight is to say No I Do Not Consent. Your post is perfect for this!
    .
I’ll be back to respond to your other post on the experience you had with the Mr Smith type agents. It’s been a couple of weeks already since you wrote that and I’ve been meaning to comment on that, but have been tied up in helping others.
    .
I”ll be circulating this consent post to everyone I can. I hope others who read it do the same. It’s very important that this post gets shared. I hope it will fill people with the courage they need at this time to stand up & say No More!
    .

    1. “I’ve been asked by my Soul (Higher Self) to put out a call to all embodied Souls to stay & fight. This is our chance to take earth back from the controllers.” I hear you loud and clear. Recently, I’ve spent considerable time reading books about the highly-educated, hard-nosed psychical researchers of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and the extraordinary evidence-based conclusions they came to, one initial skeptic/debunker after another. To many, as to myself just a year or so ago, this would sound like New Age woo. But take the time to read Michael Tymn, for example, and you come to realize that science, as the 20th Century “progressed,” deliberately turned its back on the most mind-blowing discovery it ever made, one much more earthshaking, in an existential sense, than finding life on another planet. In his father’s house, indeed, are many mansions, the point of which concerns the way we are to live THIS life. As Thoreau put it on his deathbed: “One world at a time.”

      1. Hey Newton, How goes it fella? Spot on with the Thoreau. A genuine question to your Higher Self if I may. Where could we go, and define ‘fight’. I wish you well for your journey.

        1. Thanks, Paul, and the same back to you. Don’t yet have answers to your questions but am working on them like a lot of us here, including, of course, our host. My sense is that there are solutions to these questions, LIVED solutions which resist the form of what we usually call “answers.” Whatever the hell that means, that’s how/what I feel. I love Schweitzer’s statement, for example, that his life was his argument.
