People who dislike Trump are often reluctant to talk about this, but it looks likely that a Biden administration would be more warlike than its predecessor.

In a recent interview with US Department of Defense newspaper Stars and Stripes, Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden said it’s important to keep troops in the Middle East to fight terrorism, and that it’s likely that America’s bloated military budget will not only remain at its current size but may actually increase under his presidency due to the need to focus on “near peer” threats like China and Russia.

This is not a deviation in messaging from Biden and his crack team of beltway string-pullers, but a continuation of already established patterns. His campaign has been consistently out-hawking Trump on foreign policy by attacking him for insufficient aggression toward Venezuela, China, North Korea, Syria, Cuba, and of course Russia, as well as criticizing Trump for not acting like a “wartime president“.

In a July interview with Biden foreign policy advisor Anthony Blinken, The Wall Street Journal‘s Walter Russell Mead was told of the campaign’s plan to “tame China, Russia and woke Democrats” using “Cold War-era Democratic policy”, including “a liberal multilateralism—supplemented when absolutely necessary by the American military and a willingness to use it.”

“A Biden administration won’t be looking for a reset, a grand bargain, or anything more than a businesslike relationship with Vladimir Putin,” Mead wrote after the interview. “Democrats haven’t been this hawkish on Russia since the Kennedy administration.”

“While China’s rise and Russia’s turn to the dark side complicate foreign policy, the ideas and institutions of the liberal internationalist order are failing not because the world is fundamentally changing but because the global liberal system has been starved of a critical ingredient in the Trump years: American support,” Mead writes.

Again, these are the positions that Biden Incorporated is campaigning on. Because war is a horrific evil which people naturally abhor, US presidents reliably campaign as doves and govern as hawks; Trump did it, Obama did it, even Bush did it. Biden has paid occasional lip service to the need to end the “forever wars”, including in the aforementioned Stars and Stripes interview, but overall he’s been campaigning for his first term far closer to the militaristic end of the spectrum than any president in recent memory.

This to me spells trouble, and I’m not the only one.

In a Jacobin article titled “Expect More Military ‘Liberal Interventionism’ Under a Joe Biden Presidency“, Derek Davidson and Alex Thurston write that “The liberal establishment is desperate to return a centrist to the White House in November and reestablish the country’s more stable military dominance of the world order, disrupted only briefly by Donald Trump. Joe Biden’s terrible track record on foreign policy — including his championing of war in Iraq — suggests a return to Obama-style strong military interventions abroad.”

In a Japan Times article titled “On foreign policy, Biden is worse than Trump“, Ted Rall contrasts Trump’s relatively dovish campaign trail promises to “stop racing to topple foreign regimes that we know nothing about, that we shouldn’t be involved with” against Biden’s consistent attempts to out-hawk the sitting president, noting Biden’s horrible track record on Iraq, Afghanistan, Serbia and all Obama’s wars.

But overall Biden’s extensively documented love of war isn’t something people generally want to think about if they despise the current president. Indeed Trump has been a horrible warmonger in his own right, and it’s hard to imagine how Biden couldn’t be at least a slight improvement in some tense areas like Iran and Yemen, to say nothing of his spectacular faceplants and authoritarian abuses at home.

Still it’s hard to look at all the sabre rattling Biden and his team of ventriloquists have been doing on the campaign trail without getting the distinct impression that some major international escalations are being planned.

I don’t point this out to tell Americans to vote for Trump in November; Trump is a ghoul and I’m not going to tell people not to do what they think they need to do in response to his presence. Indeed if wars are planned it seems entirely likely that they will happen regardless of what oligarchic puppet happens to be sitting in the Oval Office after January 20th, just like the escalations that were scheduled to begin against Russia under Hillary Clinton ended up getting rolled out anyway under Trump despite his vocal opposition to them. The war pigs are doubtless planning for any contingency, and it’s very possible they can get around any inertia Trump’s befuddled orneriness might throw in their way.

I mainly point this out to say that wars are planned, and we should plan accordingly. The fact that there’s a nominee spouting hawkish vitriol for one of America’s two oligarchic parties is more a symptom of these preexisting oligarchic agendas than an organically arising phenomenon, so those who love peace and oppose warmongering and world-threatening nuclear escalations should be ready to stand against something very ugly in the near future.

In an even remotely sane world, war would be something everyone avoids with all their might and uses only as a very last resort. In a world that is dominated by an empire driven by the agenda of unipolar hegemony, wars are sought and planned for as an end in themselves, and excuses are invented to get into them.

War is the single most crazy and self-destructive behavior our species engages in, and the presence of armageddon weapons makes it infinitely more so. Our survival depends on peace finding some way to get a word in edgewise before it is too late.

  1. Looking at these ancient dudes (Trump, Biden et al), does anyone think they have a reason NOT to use nuclear weapons? What the fuck do they care? They remind me of Arendt’s take on Hitler: They don’t want to die [ever], but will be content to take much of the world with them. I’m no spring chicken but I begin to think that the majority of American males over the age of 50 need to be in reeducation camps where they can try to be productive members of society for the first time in their lives. Did Mark Twain have it right? All males should be kept in barrels until the age of 15 when the bunghole should be stopped up? (And I know there are plenty of handmaidens who try to out-man the men!)

    1. Is it too much to ask that you keep hate toward men out of view? Just think what it does to boys who are not doing so well these days.

      And remember:

Men hold up half the sky. 🙂

    2. I never understood why most people want to change everyone instead of demanding the right to go to a corner of the world with like minded people, demand the right not to let anyone in who is different, and never look back. And so women whose main thought is that they hate men could live amongst women that also have a similar mindset. And those men that want to live without women could do it in another corner. And for the rest of the people that can tolerate the other gender there could be a third corner. And for people that think there are 172 genders, there could be another corner. IMO this is what we’re missing. The number of different, incompatible ideologies is just scary. However with our excellent mapping technology, computing power and traveling technology it should be very well possible that each and every person finds the community that they want to share their world with. And leave the rest alone.

  2. Just give him another chance in November and he’ll make things right:
    https://www.rt.com/news/500763-trump-mattis-assad-assassination/
You have to ask: WHY did the Tangerine Jackass say this NOW?

  3. …By design off course, same empire puppet-show story for each US puppet president:

    1) Put a right-wing redneck president-puppet in place, who increase the empire’s global terror and oppression. (Bush)
    2) Bait the left-leaning general public to hate him.
    3) Put a “progressive” “good guy”-puppet in place, that the left-leaning general public place their faith in, who in reality increase the empire’s global terror and oppression further. (Obama)
    4) Bait the right-leaning general public to hate him (tell them he’s part of the rotten establishment)
    5) Put a right-wing puppet in place, spinned as “anti-establishment”, that the right-leaning general public place their faith in, who in reality increase the empire’s global terror and oppression further. (Trump)
    6) Bait the left-leaning general public to hate him (tell them he’s misogynic, racist, anti-environmental and more)
    7) Put a “left-wing” puppet in place that will increase the empire’s global terror and oppression further. (Biden this election or another puppet next if they choose to keep Trump another term)

Right-Left-Right-Left-Right-Left. And thus we stupid sheep keeps marching through the desires of madmen, until the day we wake up.

PS. Please Caitlin, when you have time; change the captcha set up on your site’s comment section. This capthcha is run by Google, and apart from being one of the biggest most oppressive censoring polluting oligarch companies in the world, their captcha 1) Refuse to let people pass anonymously via for example Thor-browser 2) Exploits people to unknowingly train Google’s AIs in image-recognition 3) Likely include some unknown way of spying on people and their identity.

  4. The ideas and institutions of the liberal order are failing because they aren’t based on the ideals of true liberalism which Americans believe their nation is founded upon, civil liberties and the free market.

The very word ‘liberal’ has become an epithet for humanitarian duplicity and hypocrisy and ‘free market’ synonymous with economic abuse and corruption. The faux liberal (+RINO) half of the country just has to intervene, whether via war in foreign policy (9/11 wars) or police statism in domestic policy (COVID-19).

Trump is a horrible warmonger, insofar as he can neither sell war as cool nor does he prosecute war with zeal. Power elite aggressions were redirected into economic warfare, and no new wars have been started. The inherited wars are more or less stalmated at a slow burn, awaiting pullouts. Hence the basis for Biden’s claim that Trump is not tough enough against Anglo-European opponents.

Iran is in fact aggressive, insofar as a word from the Supreme Leader would allow the Iraqi government to deliver formal written notice for American troops to leave Iraq. No such notice has ever been given, only political theatre demanding American soldiers leave.

Iran wants to game the U.S. in proxy war there, but was set back by the assassinations (murders) of Iran’s only truly high performing leaders, General Soleimani and Shia Iraqi al Muhandis. U.S. withdrawals from Iraq are now underway, with Iran unable to claim ‘victory’.

The escalations against Russia planned under Hilary, would have likely have ended in ill-fated kinetics against Russia, not in impeachment Russiagates against Trump.

No new wars is a big deal. The 9/11 wars tumbled on upon their momentum only. Trump delivered a democratic result, as American voters never truly voted against war.

Hilary DID win the most votes. Trump won the Electoral College. There was too much popular and elite opposition to Trump, even from supposed anti war groups, to override the system of checks and balances against the President.

    1. Don’t understand the last paragraph. On another matter, why (also in the last paragraph) do you repeat the Democratic whine “Hillary DID win the most votes”? The whiners wanted to change the rules AFTER the game was over. If they had changed them BEFORE the game began Trump would have run his campaign differently and targeted the popular vote rather than the Electoral College. Hillary was ALSO targeting the Electoral College, if not then you can it just add incompetence to her long list of horrid characteristics. “Hilary DID win the most votes” is just whining.

      1. If those crybabies had won the odds of nuclear winter would have gone right thru the roof, glass ceiling or not.

      2. The last paragraph says democracy is more than electing a dictator.

        Its critical to understand that.

Somehow Trump respects the democratic process, which is more that can be said for his leading ‘reset now’ opponents.

  5. U.S. presidents are puppets, not independent actors. Regardless of who the president is, he basically follows the hidden script given to him, otherwise he is replaced. The ruling sociopaths at the top of the human hierarchy are in control, with far more power than any single government, nearly all of which they own. Whether candidate A or candidate B will make a better president is a moot point. It couldn’t be more obvious than with a choice between Biden or Trump. It might as well be a choice between a watermelon or a cabbage for president. It’s all a psy-op, and nearly everyone falls for it.

    1. The desperation to remove Trump, suggests the oligarchy is not fully united on the path ahead.

The President matters. The President arbitrates the conflicting agendas of the power elites.

  6. The Saker changed his mind.

    http://thesaker.is/reconsidering-the-presidential-election/

This is probably the first presidential election in US history where the choice will be not between two political programs or two political personalities, but the stark and binary choice between law and order and total chaos.

    1. The Saker was similarly ‘hopeful’ about Trump back in 2016.

      1. Yes, here is what he said about that in the above linked article:

In 2016 I recommended a Trump vote for one, single, overwhelming reason: my profound belief that Hillary would have started a war against Syria and, almost immediately, against Russia (the Dems are, again, making noises about such a war should they return into the White House). As for Trump, for all his megalomaniacal threats and in spite of a few (thoroughly ineffective) missile strikes on Syria, he has not started a new war.

By the way, when was it the last time that a US president did NOT order a war during his time in office?

  7. My government is preparing for a nuclear first stike anywhere on this planet and they do so very blatantly. In your face so to speak. It is only a matter of when it will happen; and never if it will ever happen!
    ~
It is the belief held by top officials within the United States military industrial complex that their ideology of appropriate morality is to prevail and that one must use these mind-over-matter techniques to achieve the ultimate goal, “the power to manipulate reality”, that global dominance can be achieved without wiping out the world.
MindWar must be strategic in emphasis, with tactical applications playing a reinforcing, supplementary role.

  8. Has there ever been a more heartening and uplifting string of comments following an internet post?

  9. Elections do not change anything. Presidents are puppets of the Deep State or else they get assassinated.

    1. lame duck Donald Trump Elections did not change anything because he is the Deep State’s controlled opposition as explained by journalists and analysts like Edward Griffin, Jake Morphonios, Brandon Smith, Gerald Celente and James Corbett.

  10. “…it looks likely that a Biden administration would be more warlike than its predecessor.”
    .
If your favorite Cartoon Character were to be elected President, their administration would be more warlike. When you only make one product, you sell the only product you have. When the “people” who make that product buy and run your government, then your government will always be more warlike.
    .
“In a recent interview with US Department of Defense newspaper Stars and Stripes, Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden said it’s important to keep troops in the Middle East to fight terrorism…”
    .
He went on to say that he’d send additional troops to The Moon, Mars, and The Pleiades because Trump has left those places way too under protected for American interests.
    .
“Our survival depends on peace finding some way to get a word in edgewise before it is too late.”
    .
When Peace pays as well as War, then Peace will have a chance. That’s why no serious candidate ever talks about peace. In the past, a few have tried and were subsequently crushed at the polls. Onlooking ambitious politicians took note and always go with the message that delivers.

  11. Ms Johnstone, the United States of America has 4000 nuclear weapons and lots of people that it wants to get rid of. I wish it was no so; but my government is hellbent on using some of those weapons once again.

    1. True enough, but this article’s title is “Let’s Be Real: President Biden Would Probably Be More Hawkish Than Trump.” Which of the two do you think more likely to use these weapons again?

      1. Biden and Company, I would guess. Those weapons, or any other weapons. Trump seems relatively pacific about foreigners. It’s hard to tell, though.

  12. I’m keeping this short. I’ve detested Trump for more than three decades, so would never vote for him. But the U.S. is the most imperialistic country in the history of our planet – and Biden, even more of a war hawk than Hillary Clinton, has been a big part of that.
In the end, though, any vote in the current corrupt and obsolete system is a vote for continued corruption
Short of revolution, I don’t know how we can accomplish it, but the only hope for the future lies in finding a way to entirely trash the current social, financial and political systems and to develop a radically new and different, combined, system that puts the needs of the people first and which criminalizes the abuses of our current system.

    1. Trump is doing an admirable job of making the US a pariah state, which might go some way toward making it less of a threat to the world. If he gets a second term, the US might be left with no allies, only its nuclear arsenal. And what would he do with that against a united world?

    2. There is a practical way to entirely trash the current social, financial and political systems. The strategy was called “The Way” and it was published in disguised metaphorical language to evade attention from tyrants and their paid agents. This includes (1) Keeping strategic facts, insights and plans secret. (2) Confusing tyrants and oppressors by creating the impression that we typically do one thing when in fact we privately do the opposite. (3) Speaking in codes which tyrants and oppressors do not understand. These tactics are part of a brilliant, exceptional and powerful revolutionary strategy which the Great Liberator taught His supporters. If practiced this will precipitate a global crisis which will end up eliminating powerful psychopaths who own and control the world. But His strategy and tactics are way above the mental abilities even for highly intelligent and well-educated people who fail to grasp what he said and meant.

    3. The current social, financial and political system is being trashed, and by those who most benefit from it. The question is how long until it collapses, and what is going to replace it? There is a lot of ruin in a nation and the USA is only halfway there. When there are food riots you will pretty well be there e.g. Paris 1789, Petrograd 1917. What replaces the current system? Who ever can fill the power vacuum fastest, and they usually aren’t nice. Best of luck you will need it.

  13. just using the very low bar of my personal metric, “which of these aholes is more likely to get me killed in the next 4 years”, biden makes me more nervous than trump on the issue of starting another world war. otoh trump has gone all in on minimizing the virus, so i’m more likely to die from that under trump. so as usual, i arrive at the position–they are both bowls of crap.

    1. A few extra data points. Biden when he was a senator and as vice president supported every war that came across his desk. Trump in four years has not started another war, and has been drawing down troops in those still on going and pushing for peace negotiations where he can. Trump has the better track record.

On the coronas virus, look at the GOP voting demographic. Trump’s bone headed incompetence is going to kill off a bigger part of his base than that of the democrats!

  14. We voters can see the historical results of electing R or D presidents and congress-people in the recent and distant past. BOTH of those parties are to blame for the present day situation of perpetual war, perpetual bail-outs of the Elite corporations and banks, having to hold more than one job to barely eek out an existence, getting beaten or murdered by the Elite’s pit-bull police for maybe no reason, etc. etc.

Therefore, with all of the above real-life experience of being ruled by Rs and Ds fully in mind, if you want change, do NOT vote for an R or a D candidate for POTUS OR CONGRESS in the upcoming election! Real change will be obtained ONLY by doing that simple thing. It will not be obtained by marching down streets and shouting slogans forever; burning down cities; or shooting someone dead in their Manhattan or DC or Arlington mansion.

There are only 435 members of the house of representatives.

There are only 100 senators in the senate.

There is only one president in the white house.

Therefore, the entire elected federal government consists of 536 human beings. THESE 536 people are the people who maintain the whatever-you-want-to-call-it system in which a microscopic percentage of the population owns or controls the vast majority of LARGE SCALE capital equipment, wealth and land (upon which the vast majority of the population vitally depends), for their own astronomical profit. (The Elite also own those 536 human beings.)

The aforementioned microscopic percentage is spending, as I type, literally billions of printed-out-of-thin-air “dollars” for only one purpose — to make absolutely sure that the vast majority of voters will walk into a voting booth in November and vote for an R or a D candidate for POTUS and R or D candidates for both legislative branches. The Elite do not care one iota WHICH R or D candidates voters vote for, as long as voters vote for an R or a D, because ANY R or D candidate for public office will MAINTAIN the power of their Elite masters, which means they will maintain the present system exactly as it is.

By supporting illegal war against the world and unconstitutional acts against American citizens at home, these 536 human beings have proven themselves unfit for office.

All of these 536 can be removed from office only, and I do mean ONLY, one way — if, and only if, voters DO NOT vote for an R or a D in the upcoming election and the mid-term two years down the road. That is really all it will take for US voters to literally change the world for the better. No matter what voters have been brainwashed to believe, each individual voter MUST step into the voting booth and NOT vote for an R or D. There are several great candidates running for POTUS. One of the latest additions is Jesse Ventura who can be seen on his RT show “The World According to Jesse”. (I’ll post a link below.)

    So……………..

Do not vote for an R or a D in the upcoming election.

Do not vote for an R or a D in the upcoming election.

Do not vote for an R or a D in the upcoming election.

Do not vote for an R or a D in the upcoming election.

Do not vote for an R or a D in the upcoming election.

Do not vote for an R or a D in the upcoming election.

Do not vote for an R or a D in the upcoming election.

Do not vote for an R or a D in the upcoming election.

Do not vote for an R or a D in the upcoming election.

Do not vote for an R or a D in the upcoming election.

Do not vote for an R or a D in the upcoming election.

Do not vote for an R or a D in the upcoming election.

Do not vote for an R or a D in the upcoming election.

    1. Listen to what Jesse Ventura has to say. If you like what you hear, vote for him. It’s a simple as that.
      https://www.rt.com/shows/the-world-according-to-jesse/

      1. Voting changes nothing but the face of the guy in the white house who convinces voters he is on their side when in fact he the controlled opposition of the Deep State.

    2. here here ISHKABIBBLE, now this makes sense. As a side to your keen observations, we need way more representative’s. 435 reps for 330 million people is fantasy and you really only need to buy off a little over half of these guys to tip it your way which is not much for the many billionaires in existence. Controlling the Senate even easier/cheaper.

It really is as easy as not voting R or D. (plus a total rewrite of the Constitution per modern circumstances) Only sometimes I think American’s aren’t ready for what the rest of the world already has. Jesse would be a defined luxury for the middle class.

      1. Getting the Constitution rewritten mightn’t be as easy as not voting!

  15. If Im guilty if having alarmist views, take it with a grain of salt. The world is pretty alarming, and I focus on the people around me in hopes of surviving the next few years whatever happens, and enjoying my life when its not actually bad despite the looming potential for any of these thoughts to actually be happening.

The way I see it, this election (same as 2016) is the choice between civil war under Trump which seems to be unfolding apace, and world war under Biden. Actually the civil war is probably locked in even if Biden wins at this point, as disarming the opposing faction will probably become necessary after the hate rhetoric and disinfo yields its payload, and Trumps militia supporters refuse to concede with their lives and the lives of their scapegoats.

It feels like an emerging thinly veiled referendum on either global population reduction through war, globally and including the US, or a primarily a domestic population reduction effort. Thats what the vote comes down to in November. Everyone loves invoking Stalin and Hitler these days, and thats what they tried to do. Thanks to socialism for corporations and their owning class, and AI/ robotics replacing the needs for actual people in ~30% of the workforce, this is all prefigurative, all a set up, along with covid, real or not, to disrupt the willingness for people to rally from below against the power structure that created this horrible situation and is perpetually unaccountable for its lies, terrible choices in creating these problems and the horrific outcomes for ordinary people.

We can quibble about the different pieces moving, non renewal of strategic arms treaties and nuclear rearmament under Trump is alarming. Syria, Yemen, Libya and the Ukraine are also extremely disturbing from Bidens tenure.
Venezuela, China, and Iran provocations are alarming from Trumps tenure, but dont match the scale of what was executed under Obama by far.

War on biodiversity and ecological services has escalated under Trump. Democrats acknowledge with empty promises to do “something” which they feel is fulfilled by saying “this is a problem we should someday address”. Cant let nature heal and give us free shit like oxygen, clean water and food. Nature must secretly be Marxist! Makes capitslism look ugly, lol.

We have Q and Boogaloo dead set on triggering Antifa and BLM, which is the escalation to full polarization by increasingly armed factions that began with the Tea Party and Occupy seen under Obama.

Those of us who can see this unfolding are straightjacketed on the crazy train. We can only be sure that the ballot in November is a popularity contest for what amounts to a death sentence for many, and possibly one’s own correlating with how much you expect your candidate of preference to fix your personal problems.
Im pulling for all sentient beings to survive this moment of maximal absurdity as the moment of possible rebirth of something like a rightsized human gravitas if anythings left from the tantrum about to unfold.

  16. Trump is the least murderous US President in decades.

Unfortunately most Liberals are so blinded by their hatred of Trump the man, they cannot see that Trump the President is the least warmongering US President in decades. If you point this fact out to them they will list all the on-going US wars and military interventions as if they were all initiated by Trump. But of course they weren’t. Any US President inherits the on-going Imperial wars and interventions of the Washington Regime and the Pentagon. They inherit an Imperial war machine that has been in operation since at least WW2 and whose publicly stated policy is full-spectrum domination of the entire planet. No President can shut that down. The sheer power and momentum of the US Imperial war industry is immense. People overestimate the power of any American President to make fundamental changes to Washington Regime Imperial policy.

In US politics you never get to choose the right and the good or what you really want. You only ever get to choose the lesser evil.

    1. I agree. It is easy to attack President Trump on many issues, but at least he never started a war. Obama did so in Yemen, Libya, Ukraine, and Somalia. The Deep State teed up four chances to attack Iran: by getting a drone shot down, attaching small mines to tankers, using UAVs to attack a Saudi oil facility, and after Iran’s retaliatory missile strike. The Deep State is furious that Trump never took the bait. Trump also pulled some troops out of Syria and Iraq. Trump is no hero, but he’s proven less warlike than recent Presidents.

The Obama team destroyed Africa’s most prosperous nation. Over 40,000 black lives were lost in Libya. Where are the protests about this war crime?

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n5Lh4HUyudk&

      1. They didn’t exactly protest, but a UK Parliamentary committee concluded there were no grounds for the attack, and that was known at the time, or should have been.
“It [UK government] could not verify the actual threat to civilians posed by the Gaddafi regime; it selectively took elements of Muammar Gaddafi’s rhetoric at face value; and it failed to identify the militant Islamist extremist element in the rebellion. UK strategy was founded on erroneous assumptions and an incomplete understanding of the evidence.”
        https://www.theguardian.com/world/2016/sep/14/mps-deliver-damning-verdict-on-camerons-libya-intervention

    2. Russia has stopped Zio/US aggression – NOT Trump !!

  17. Let’s be real – Biden can barely put two words together, let alone form a full sentence expressing original thoughts. We need to look beyond the current corrupted institutions. Voting only promotes the continuation of corruption.

  18. Ms Clinton promised a war with Russia over Syria , a step to far for the deep-state which overturned the election . Mr Biden in his diminished mental capacity is still reading from the same script and nuclear war becomes a real possibility if he is allowed to ascend to the POTUS throne , unless the covid panic trumps that script .

  19. Something happened.
This was intended to be a top-post and not a reply.

    The Iraq Invasion never happened.

    WTH

The memory hole of people is just…there are no words!

In a normal business someone that had a leading role in the most unmitigated policy disaster of that business would be or should be out the door. Not so in Washington.

Those that gave us the Iraq War Invasion should have been in prison long ago. But here we are today with one that had a leading role actually running for President – and you can actually find people that will vote for him! A man who had twisted vision then and has twisted vision now compounded by an obviously aging brain.

    https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2020/feb/17/joe-biden-role-iraq-war

Biden did vastly more than just vote for the war. Yet his role in bringing about that war remains mostly unknown or misunderstood by the public. When the war was debated and then authorized by the US Congress in 2002, Democrats controlled the Senate and Biden was chair of the Senate committee on foreign relations. Biden himself had enormous influence as chair and argued strongly in favor of the 2002 resolution granting President Bush the authority to invade Iraq.

“I do not believe this is a rush to war,” Biden said a few days before the vote. “I believe it is a march to peace and security. I believe that failure to overwhelmingly support this resolution is likely to enhance the prospects that war will occur …”

But he had a power much greater than his own words. He was able to choose all 18 witnesses in the main Senate hearings on Iraq. And he mainly chose people who supported a pro-war position.
    —-

The Iraq War Invasion happened, folks. How it can possibly fit through your memory hole is beyond comprehension.

  20. No US president is truly “commander in chief” of the war machine. He is just a figurehead. JFK made the mistake of not realizing that. All presidents since then have toed the line. When Obama made the mistake of agreeing to work with Russia in Syria, the very first thing that happened was the “accidental” killing of some Russian troops that succeeded in destroying the deal. Putin has said that it makes no difference who is the US president, the policies remain the same.

Any hope for the future has to come from the bottom up. The masses must demand that we learn to wage peace in a multi-polar world. Voting for warmonger from column B will not fix anything. People need to toss their TV set and wake up. They need to reengage in the real world as conscientious citizens. Voting for a “lesser” evil makes you part of the evil. Howie Hawkins 2020. https://howiehawkins.us/platform/

    1. You need to wake up – Barry Soetoro was ‘placed’ there to usher in the ZWO – nothing more – this attempt was foiled by Russia !

The whole name Barack (rhymes with Iraq) Hussein(Saddam Hussein) Obama (Osama) was a FABRICATED name and a ‘psyop’ intended to keep the ‘terrorist’ threat alive in our collective – simple brainwashed minds !!

Of course ‘Barry’ has NO past – apparently a ‘constitutional’ lawyer that NOBODY recalls from his claimed University days !

Don’t get me started on his ‘wife’ Michael Robinson !!

    2. You cannot vote for anything except the lesser evil in US election. That is the only choice you ever get. The only way not to vote for the lesser evil is to not vote at all; or vote for some minor third party or independent; which amounts to the same thing.

      1. Peoples acceptance of that reality is what allows it to continue.

      2. I agree with what you say, voting for the lesser evil is the only effective choice in US elections. But who is the lesser evil? I know that Chomsky would say Trump, but even he agreed that when it came to Clinton or Trump, those who feared Clinton’s warmongering had a valid point, and I expect he has much the same to say of the US electorate’s current dilemma.

    3. Yes, voting makes you part of the evil system. It only changes the face of the guy in the white house who convinces voters he is on their side when in fact he is the so-called “controlled opposition” of the Deep State.

      1. Voting for Howie Hawkins (or another peace candidate) is the only moral choice. I doubt very much he is controlled opposition representing the Deep State. Voting for a perceived “lesser” evil makes you part of the evil and a victim of manipulation by the Deep State. Not voting at all is fine with the Deep State. They like passivity and hopelessness for the masses. Either that or being part of the film-flam game by voting for Corporate sponsored warmonger from column B and imagining things will somehow get better.

As for being a revolutionary, I think making intelligent lifestyle choices is far more powerful than voting. People need to stop feeding the beast. Vote with your wallet. Support small and local. Grow food. Don’t buy that shiny new gadget that winds up in a landfill a year from now.
Cancel your cable TV subscription. Don’t watch advertising. Promote peace starting with your own soul. Then you become a true revolutionary.

    https://medium.com/@cfhorgan/this-is-how-it-happens-c289765df373

  23. Excellent article. Absolutely correct. The Trump administration is a war administration only I do not believe Trump is a warmonger personally. He is simply unable to stop the mitary industrial complex waging war. He has slowed it down a little but not stopped it. Look what happened when he tried to remove troops from Iraq. The entire house and senate came together to stop it. He is getting a few troops home from Germany but most are just going to Pokand. We will go into full war mode if Biden wins.

    1. For every ‘troop’ he brings home – there are TWO paid mercenaries to take their place – bringing troops ‘home’ is a SCAM !

    2. Voting makes you part of the fake “democratic” system provided by tyrants to fool voters. It only changes the face of the guy in the white house who convinces voters he is on their side when in fact he is the so-called “controlled opposition” of the Deep State.

  24. Clinton was hoping to implement so-called ‘no-fly zones’ (more like ‘US attacks without warning zones’) in Syria, which would probably have quickly led to direct confrontation with Russia.
Trump hasn’t pulled out of Syria, but has at least arrived at some kind of modus vivendi with Russia, rather than pushing us further toward World War III.
Biden looks likely, if elected, to follow the Clinton approach to foreign policy in general, with more humanitarian bombing campaigns (‘liberal interventionism’) and deliberate provocations of both Russia and China.
Yet most of the supposed left continues to insist that the Dems are our only hope, while another Trump term would be a disaster for the world?

    1. Trump building bases and moving troops to Poland tends to contradict your hypothesis.

      1. Tends to! What would Clinton have done if she’d been elected? What will Biden do if he is?

I’m in no way a Trump supporter, but I do wonder who ‘the lesser evil’ is.

        1. Clinton is now irrelevant. Trump is a far greater danger to the American public by far.
          They both suck.

          1. To the US public, maybe.
To the rest of the world, I wonder.

        1. My comment is about current events. Not 18 year old votes to go to war for W. Bush.
Please enlighten me where Biden moved Troops to Poland.
Trump desired to use the US military on the American people. Please enlighten me where Biden has expressed such desire.

          1. Read above, Smed.

            1. Still no evidence presented that Biden wants to sick the US military on the US population. Nor where Biden played a part in moving bases and troops to Poland.

              1. Biden can’t even remember what happened yesterday – he is a Zionist anointed Trojan Horse !

        2. The war on Iraq was an unmitigated policy disaster? Would Halliburton or Israel, to name but two of many, agree?

  25. The point here is they are all psychopaths and backing down is not an option, and Biden is a ruthless hawke far more capable of prosecuting the demands of US imperialism.

  26. Freud blamed the male sex drive.
    Jung blamed the spiritual void.
    Religions blame the heathens.
    Capitalschism blames communism.
    Patriots blame the enemy.
Politicians blame the other party and/or the enemy.
    No one accepts responsibility.

  27. Let’s cut to the chase here. All wars are bankers wars. They fund both sides. It’s hugely profitable for them and keeps populations down in the gutter. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BXeAIxK7rY4
The moment we realise their power is acquired through the absolute fraud of [compound] interest levied upon any [imaginary] money created and borrowed from them is the moment we begin to produce and use our own national sovereign interest-free money. We are then totally free of their ludicrous usury ‘debts’. Lord Denning, Master of the Rolls, had it right when he said, “Fraud unravels everything”. So here it is then. I invite all peoples of the world to dump their so-called National Debts: https://commodity.com/data/debt-clock/ thereby preparing yourselves for gorgeous peace beginning with complementary currencies: https://www.complementarycurrency.org/ You can even keep cash in your pocket using such happy money!!

  28. Ms Johnstone sometimes the truth is devastating. This article sheds needed light on just how far our owners and our masters are willing to go to herd humanity where they want it to go without any qualms regarding how many people are killed.
This magnificent article can be read here:
9-11-01 Was an Israeli Job by By Laurent Guyénot!
    http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/55569.htm

    1. It took more than Israeli involvement, but yes, for that part of the puzzle .type “wikispooks Israel did it”. Link to this causes the post to disappear.

  29. Bush dropped more than Clinton, Obama more than Bush, Trump more than Obama……and it will continue, as long as the wars continue.
Biden is part of the A team, an reliable defender of US capitalism, with years of experience and connections, who will cultivate allies where possible, unlike Trump who alienates and insults US allies.

    1. Of course that would require Biden to be coherent. Elect Biden, and you elect the oligarchy that has owned him since the day he acquired public office. Even when he was somewhat coherent, he was a willing accomplice. Governments have ever only demonstrated competence in one thing. Killing people. They’re very good at it, and have learned how to make money doing it. Might as well expect a carpenter to stop working with wood.

  30. Navalny was but the first in an upcoming barrage of increasingly serious false flags that are designed to put irresitible pressure on the Tangerine Jackass to either stike out militarily or resign and let his replacement do it. The US/transnational Deep State is like the Borg. It has to assimilate all nations or literally die trying.

What we are living through is a forced march to another World War. We are re-living 1930s Germany and the US “Homeland” (Fatherland) is playing the role of Germany. The one and only thing that tens of millions of common volk in the US can do to try to halt the march is to NOT vote for an R or D in the upcoming election. If that does not happen, WWIII, it will soon be, because I do not think that Russia, China, Iran, Venezuela and North Korea will put up with another 4 years of US business-as-usual.

Face it. Nuclear war is the fate that humanity will suffer if the US’s present course of behavior toward the rest of the world continues.

I’m sorry, kiddos; I really am. You have good souls. And I hate giving good people bad news. Now, don’t worry about it. As soon as you stop reading my comment, you’ll start feeling better. You’ll remember that you don’t believe in any of this fate crap. You’re in control of your own lives………remember? Here,………eat a dozen cookies and a gallon of ice cream while you watch your five-hundredth Netflix movie. I promise…………by the time you’re done eating and watching the movie, you’ll feel right as rain.

No money left for the sick and poor
It’s all been spent it all on endless war,

  32. Not that it really matters, seeing as both major parties are in apparent agreement that there will be no election in November, and my personal guess is that by time November rolls around, hardly anyone in the world will give a damn one way or the other.

  33. I agree the situation is ominous. A Biden administration will green-light all sorts of aggression. It will be done in the name of ‘freedom and democracy’ instead of ‘make America great again’ but it will be the same crock of shit behind the scenes. That being exploitation by a domineering elite with the sanction of the masses having the consciousness of sheep.

Regardless if you go https://chasingthesquirrel.com/ you can practice voting because regardless; if you have a brain and are going to vote for one of the mainstream turkeys, it will be hard to do. You may as well practice.

  34. Hear it from the horse’s mouth: Biden admits to being a Zionist: https://youtu.be/1vDx-5b7T8M?t=56

  35. It is said that Trump takes control by creating chaos, and what could be more chaotic than his sudden reversal on interfering in the governance of other nations ? If only the lying bastard could be trusted to leave other nations to their own choices, it would represent a worthwhile improvement for world peace.
    `
As it is, i am increasingly disgusted by Joe Biden, who signalled his incompetence last year by saying that cannabis is a gateway drug … as justification for maintaining the war on users of traditional herbal medicines.
    `
Tweedledumb versus Tweedledumber is not democracy. Bernie Sanders was my only hope of USA regaining its sanity (if it ever was sane as Thomas Jefferson made it seem)

    1. Voting makes you part of the fake “democratic” system provided by tyrants to fool voters. It only changes the face of the guy in the white house who convinces voters he is on their side when in fact he is the so-called “controlled opposition” of the Deep State.

  36. So, even Miss Johnstone has drunk the Qool-Aid. Actions speak louder than words. Trump has not brought 1 troop home. He has just moved them to Poland. Trump has dropped more bombs than Obama had at the same point in his tenure. Trump has committed piracy on the high seas. Illegally confiscating ships headed to Venezuela. Trump’s first veto was the bill to stop American involvement in the Yemen war. Trump has started a cold war with China under the false pretext of bringing jobs and manufacturing back to the USA. In reality it is moving jobs and manufacturing to Vietnam and India. Trump assassinated Iran’s top general in an attempt to start a regional conflict in the middle east. The only reason he did not get his wish was Iranian restraint. And, most importantly Trump is the first American president since Hoover to attempt to use the American military against the American people.
Usually your articles are very insightful. This one is rubbish and fantasy Q-tard worthy.

    1. S. Butler—You are missing the point.

“Trump is Terrible-but Biden is NO Better”
      Kevin Zeese

      1. We disagree. And, precedent supports my opinion. Biden participated in an administration for 8 years that did not commit piracy on the high seas. Nor did it assassinate Iranian top generals. On top of that. Less “ordinance” was dropped under that administration at the same tenure as the current administration.

      2. No, you missed the point also.

Biden would probably be **more** hawkish is the point.
And who can honestly doubt this?

        1. Yes. I can. I have seen no evidence where Biden desired to use the US military on the American people.
Trump had to be told no by the leaders of the US military on that subject.
You want to experience war first hand here at home. Then vote Trump.

    2. Smedley Butler, i resent you comparing Caitlin to a follower of Jim Jones.
What an arsehole you are to offer such an insult to her face.
She has reported a radical change of position by Trump,
but you are so malignant that you blame her as if she were Trump himself.
      `
If you think so little of investigative journalism,
      take your attention somewhere else,
rather than pissing in Caitlin’s thought pool.

      1. I see no investigative journalism in this article. Please point it out if you can find it. As for taking my attention somewhere else. Echo chambers rarely produce constructive anything. And, are quite the boor.

        1. I didn’t notice any claims that it was investigative journalism. Not really Caitlin’s forte, in my opinion – absolutely no disrespect to Caitlin intended!

    3. I don’t know how to respond to comments on my articles which ignore the actual words in the article.

      1. The title of your article says Biden would probably be more hawkish than Trump. Biden participated in an administration that dropped less “ordinance” in the same amount of time as Trump’s administration.

Those are the actual words of the title of your article. I’m no Biden supporter by any stretch of the imagination. But, precedent says that the very title of your article is wrong.

          1. Good point.
I neglected to mention the number of treaties Trump has abandoned. Where as the Admin that Biden was a part of made a treaty to try and bring Iran out of the cold. Another point rendering this article to be rubbish that the author seems to forget what she wrote.

        2. Everything you’ve written so far is squarely addressed in the contents of the article that you are commenting on.

          1. I saw nothing on the piracy on the high seas committed by the Trump admin. Probably the single most important thing to destabilize the world as fast as possible.

Don’t get me wrong. I hate them all. As you pointed out in an earlier article about Assange. Not even the Obama/Biden admin attempted to prosecute Assange b/c of the 1st amendment. I also recall AG Holder, for all his faults, saying things like “Get the damn tanks off the street!” in reference to the Ferguson protests. Where as Trump personally flooded the streets with “federal officers” and desired to deploy the US military at large to the streets. I also remember that same AG stopping the flow of military equipment to police. Where as Trump reinstated it. I recall said AG ending federal support for asset forfeiture. To which Trump reinstated it. I remember the Obama/Biden admin ending federal funding to GOF research. And again the Trump admin reinstated it. To me the title of your article is misleading. Trump is by far more hawkish against the American people, the American constitution. And, American allies.
Still a long time fan of your work. Just disagree on this.

            1. Oh the poor USA and its poor constitution!

  37. “Electoral politics is the Entertainment Division of the military industrial complex.”

    ~ Frank Zappa

    1. Levi neglected to mention that we will need a magnifying glass to read the tiny writing.

      1. You don’t need to hit Ctrl & + (Control Key and the Plus key) to magnify the image, as the point of the image is that Trump has a blank slate per this image.

But, to make you happier here is the link you asked for.

  38. Hegemony of what? Resources-Oil, Gas, Rare Earth Elements, and markets. The USA Russia, and China want control of resources for profits, They will rattle their sabres, fake detente, but will always try to secure their power.

  39. So, either way, the USA is screwed. For the rest of the world, it is still very very bad news indeed. The USA has become by far the biggest short-term threat to the world at so many different important levels.

The question we should all be asking is how do we neutralise the influence and destructiveness of the USA. How does the rest of the world deal with this massive problem?

    1. I agree that neutralising the USA is a crucial strategic objective in the war for the future of mankind. Religious lunacy has no place in world governance.
      `
As to how, the question is … how do we oblige our “leaders” to declare a limit to what an alliance with USA does to our sovereignty and self-determination. The USA cannot fight all other countries at once.

      1. The question of how should be very obvious by now.
Biological weapons can easily bring the USA to it’s knees.

The trick is dealing with the blowback.
