Did you know the US Department of Defense used to be called the Department of War? It would be a much more honest label today for a military which virtually never operates in any way that could be described as defensive, with its operations focusing far outside of the nation’s borders against targets who pose no threat whatsoever to ordinary Americans. An even more suitable name would be the Department of Eternal War.

The State Department was meant to be the counterpart to the War Department, focusing on diplomacy and peace. What ended up happening as the US government morphed into a globe-spanning empire dependent on endless violence and aggression is that the State Department wound up focusing more and more on manufacturing interventionist narratives on the world stage to gin up international support for starvation sanctions, proxy wars and war coalitions.

So in practice the US ended up with two war departments: the DoD and the State Department. Which is why you’ve seen the nation’s Secretaries of State becoming more and more jingoistic and psychopathic, to the point where some sort of antisocial personality disorder is almost a job requirement for the position.

Bloomberg and The New York Times are reporting that the incoming presidential administration has chosen longtime Biden advisor Tony Blinken for the role of Secretary of State. Blinken is a liberal interventionist who has supported all of the most disgusting acts of US mass military slaughter this millennium, including the Iraq invasion which killed over a million people and ushered in an unprecedented era of military expansionism in the Middle East. So needless to say he will fly through the confirmation process.

“Blinken was a key adviser to Biden when the senator voted to authorize the use of force against Iraq,” Nonzero reports. “Blinken has tried to recast the vote as merely ‘a vote for tough diplomacy,’ but post-invasion remarks by Biden make that claim implausible. In a recent Washington Post op-ed that Blinken co-authored with Robert Kagan, one of the chief architects of neoconservative foreign policy doctrine, he implied that the problem with the Iraq War was poor execution (‘bad intelligence, misguided strategy and inadequate planning for the day after’) rather than the very idea of invading a country in violation of international law even after it had admitted weapons inspectors to assess the claims motivating the invasion.”

How true can Biden’s claim be that he regrets his pivotal role in facilitating that unforgivable act of mass military butchery if he’s continued employing the man who advised him about it as an advisor ever since, and is now appointing him to Secretary of State? If someone advises you to do something that you truly regret, do you continue seeking out that person’s advice on the same subject and give them even more power and control over it?

We can expect the next secretary of America’s second war department to help the US death machine ramp up world-threatening cold war escalations with China and Russia. In a July interview with Blinken, The Wall Street Journal‘s Walter Russell Mead was told of the Biden campaign’s plan to “tame China, Russia and woke Democrats” using “Cold War-era Democratic policy”, including “a liberal multilateralism—supplemented when absolutely necessary by the American military and a willingness to use it.”

“A Biden administration won’t be looking for a reset, a grand bargain, or anything more than a businesslike relationship with Vladimir Putin,” Mead wrote after the interview. “Democrats haven’t been this hawkish on Russia since the Kennedy administration.”

All you really need to know about Tony Blinken has been summed up nicely in a must-see new Behind the Headlines report by Dan Cohen. Blinken’s career has been a pendulum between expanding the US empire and helping corporate power knit itself more deeply into that empire. Within the Obama administration he backed the unforgivably devastating interventions in Libya and Syria as well as the 2014 Ukraine coup, he was a major proponent of backing the Saudi-led mass atrocities in Yemen, and he says such proxy conflicts will be the new model for US interventionism going forward.

Cohen quotes Blinken arguing in favor of replacing old-school Bush-era conventional ground invasions with “discreet, small-scale sustainable operations, maybe led by special forces, to support local actors… In ending the endless wars I think we have to be careful to not paint with too broad a brush stroke.” In other words, the continuation and expansion of all of the Obama administration’s most depraved policies.

So we can expect a strengthening of the python-like strangulation strategies the US empire now favors, with the same number of dead children, the same amount of destabilization and suffering, and the same amount of resource consumption, just without all those pesky news headlines and footage of flag-draped coffins coming home on jet planes. A photogenic mask on the blood-spattered face of the US empire which has been so troublingly exposed in the age of Trump.

Are you excited about that Return to Decency yet?

Why are you wasting your time writing articles on Biden policy and or office selections?
He is not and never will be the President of this or any other country. I didnt read the article so as not to be a leftist hypocrite. 8)

    1. While there were no good outcomes possible in this election…it would behoove the Tangerine Twitler, to accept the reality that even if Biden won by cheating – it just meant that he was better at it, or had the help of an “Intelligence Community”, that the current President lacked the competency to adequately control. President-Vice President Cheney was a much more hands-manager of the Warcrimes Syndicate… So that’s a lesson to be learned, and meditated upon during the upcoming four or more years in the private sector and/or Prison Industrial Complex.

  2. Most of the “Biden team” are members of the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), flagship of the globalist “liberal world order” which has dominated US policy since WW2. Nearly every Fed chairman and most of the secretaries of State, Defense, Treasury, and CIA have been CFR members.

CFR members on the Biden team include: John Kerry, Antony Blinken, Susan Rice, Michele Flournoy, Alejandro Mayorkas, Janet Yellen, and Lael Brainard to name a few. See lists at the CFR website.

CFR corporate sponsors include the major banking, energy, defense, pharma and media corporations. Many of their execs are CFR members. The interlocking CFR network also includes the Davos WEF, Brookings, Aspen, Atlantic Council, CNAS, etc.

Billionaires Laurence Fink (BlackRock) and David Rubenstein (CarlyleGrp) are CFR directors, and WEF trustees. Time magazine, owned by billionaire Marc Benioff (Salesforce), just devoted an issue to promote the WEF “Great Reset”. Benioff is also a CFR member and a WEF trustee.

    1. But most importantly, all these people have one country in mind they want to protect: Apartheid Israel.

Every war, act of terrorism and shenanigan in the Middle East is to benefit the apartheid country.

Try to step back and enjoy the show if you can …

    1. The spectacle of FOX News denouncing the Iraq war which they thunderously supported at the time and calling Biden’s cabinet ‘the Kettle, I mean Swamp’.

    2. Biden is even less competent than Trump and the Neocons are stupid. So we will piss away the strength we have at even a faster rate and this will reduce our ability to torment the nations of the earth.

#2 sounds bad for Americans but we might be better off for it. It’s not like Americans would benefit if the evil Neocon plan actually worked. Murdering Syrians, Yemenis, and Iranians doesn’t make our lives any better and it depletes our treasury. Russia was forced to retrench and is stronger today because of it.

It will take more than an average Neocon to top Pompeo. Blinken will have to prove a grandmaster psychopath. Pompeo was / is off the charts vile.

I normally attribute harm to misguided, unintended consequences but Pompeo methodically initiated a selective starvation campaign in Yemen. 1. He bolstered the Saudi blockade and kept them in the fight thwarting negotiations even though the KSA is fatigued.

      2. Pompeo then cut off our aid to Houthi areas but not the ‘govt areas’ and lobbied the UN agencies to do the same making non-sensical arguments you would make if you consider people sub-human.

      3. There is serious buzz that the Administration (Pompeo goading Trump) to label the Houthis terrorists so this will make it next to impossible for private aid organizations to operate in Houthi areas.

The tell, he is constantly bragging about how the U.S. and the Saudis help Yemenis while Iranians are butchering them. Compulsive liars telegraph their own intentions. Wow, my faith in God declined 80% from the time I started writing this.

      1. You discover/create meaning in your sharp moral critique of the actions of Pompeo. That’s what the experience of this world, with all its polarities, is for—to discover/create your meaning. I find “faith”, and moments of peace, in the long view of moral reality as ultimate reality—always, what goes around will come around. Keep up the good work Christian.

  4. I don’t really see the point of this article. You sound like Captain Renault discovering that people are gambling at Rick’s Cafe. Well, I suppose there may be some dimwit out there that has yet to understand that the new boss is the same as the old boss.

    1. She’s ID’ing the Gamblers and Croupiers, as they come to the table. If the Corporatist STATE Media were doing this work – it would be redundant… But until then…most folks are as clueless about the gambling, as Capt. Renault feigned being… “Here are your winnings, sir”.

    2. That is where you are wrong.
The new boss is in a lot of aspects worse than the old one. The old one at least tried but failed to slow down some military adventures. The new one is committed to them.

  5. Daniel’s Vision of the Four Beast

…6 Next, as I watched, another beast appeared. It was like a leopard, and on its back it had four wings like those of a bird. The beast also had four heads, and it was given authority to rule.

7 After this, as I watched in my vision in the night, suddenly a fourth beast appeared, and it was terrifying— dreadful and extremely strong— with large iron teeth. It devoured and crushed; then it trampled underfoot whatever was left. It was different from all the beasts before it, and it had ten horns.

8 While I was contemplating the horns, suddenly another horn, a little one, came up among them, and three of the first horns were uprooted before it. This horn had eyes like those of a man and a mouth that spoke words of arrogance.…

  8. “I think this is a very hard choice.”
However many times I view the Albright interview, I never can help but be struck by the cold admission on Albright’s part of foreknowledge of consequences. There was no sidestep or any painting of consequences as “unintended”. Then she drove the point home directly, in no uncertain terms stating:
“We think the price is worth it”.
Of course, then came Hilligula and more of those “hard choices”.
Good grief. 500,000 children had no choice at all. Just misery.

That guy in the photo isn’t doing himself any favors in the “I’m not a psycho” Department.

    1. Remember that after all if the shock and horror and pushback, that came with her with Albright’s startling admission… She DID try to walk it all back…but did so in a completely unconvincing fashion.

  9. Not at all a surprise! US politics is irrelevant. Distraction and confusion is the name of the political drama and psychopathic politicians and corrupt state officials do and say whatever agents of the Deep State order. Makes great entertainment for the masses and a constant supply of material for journalists.

  10. It puzzles me why people are still casting their votes.

You do not give legitimacy to the “System” by casting your vote.

Truly we are living in a hellish world similar to the world in the days of Noah.

I cannot thank God enough I did not have children. How worrying it must be to have children in our days in which the ruling class is so much decadent.

    Keeping my Rosary on hand!

    1. Yes I think this prophecy from Jesus Himself is coming true at this very moment:

“For, behold, the days are coming, in the which they shall say, Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that never bare, and the paps which never gave suck.” (Luke 23:29)

As I wrote above, the decadent ruling class is preparing for mankind a hellish world where they will release virus, limit freedom doing so etc…

What a grace to do not have children in our days.

But when war becomes literally continuous, it also ceases to be dangerous. When war is continuous there is no such thing as military necessity.

Technical progress can cease and the most palpable facts can be denied or disregarded. As we have seen, researches that could be called scientific are still carried out for the purposes of war, but they are essentially a kind of daydreaming, and their failure to show results is not important.

Efficiency, even military efficiency, is no longer needed. Nothing is efficient in Oceania except the Thought Police.

      1. Are you an optimist or a pessimist? Albert Schweitzer has helped me to answer that question for myself, so let me (over)simply what I’ve learned from him should others find it useful. Life is like playing a four-card game in which two cards must be played in tandem. The cards are (1) optimism of will, (2) pessimism of will, (3) optimism of judgment, (4) pessimism of judgment. Two cards are laid simultaneously on the table. We play either the optimism of will/pessimism of judgment cards, or the pessimism of will/optimism of judgment cards. If we yearn for a better, more beautiful world and believe it is possible (optimism of will card), then we will see the existing world as pervaded by evil and in dire need of improvement (pessimism of judgment card). Vice versa, if we don’t yearn for a better, more beautiful world or don’t believe that it is possible (pessimism of will card), then we will see the existing world as acceptable or tolerable or at least moving in the right direction (optimism of judgment card). Schweitzer’s way of thinking has led me to rethink/redefine optimism and pessimism and to understand the subtle complexity and ambiguity of their mirror-image connection. Take it for what you will or leave it on the table.

        1. See my reply below.

      2. @Newton Finn.
While I appreciate the complexity of existence on this planet, at heart, I’m just a simple tradesman. For the most part, I basically look at things in terms of right and wrong, while acknowledging the many gray areas, and I try to put myself in other people’s shoes.
        `
I’ve heard of Albert Sweitzer, but to be honest, I am unfamiliar with his work. I think he won a Nobel peace prize many years ago. (Of course I could have looked him up and pretended I know all about him. But that seems like part of the problem to me.)
        `
I do understand your point about the mirror image idea optimism and pessimism and the subtle ambiguity, but I still think there is huge importance in trying to have and communicate a positive vision for the future.
        `
I suppose our views about what we deem as positive or negative is largely determined by our perspectives, circumstances, and much more than most of us realize, our conditioning.
        `
Having said all that, I’m not completely sure what you’re getting at here. I don’t think you’re saying: “just accept things as they are.” Perhaps, you’re implying we should place less importance on what we think is good and bad and tying that to our happiness contentment?

        1. Should have said “I don’t think you’re saying: “just accept things the way they are [and do nothing.]”

          1. Let’s try it this way, Shocker. The more you want a better world, the worse the existing world looks to you. That’s the true optimism, according to Schweitzer, wanting a better world, believing in it, working toward it. Yet this is often called pessimism because it sees the existing world as so screwed up, so desperately in need of change and improvement. On the other hand, we tend to call people optimistic when they think the world is basically OK or at least gradually getting better on its own. What this means is that their vision of how the world could be, should be, is on the low side, which is what Schweitzer would call a pessimistic position. In defining optimism and pessimism, do we focus on how reality looks to a person and whether he or she is satisfied with it, or on the possibilities and ideals in which a person believes, toward which he or she strives? Hope that helps a bit. Maybe I should have put it that way to begin with.

      3. @Newton Finn
        `
“In defining optimism and pessimism, do we focus on how reality looks to a person and whether he or she is satisfied with it, or on the possibilities and ideals in which a person believes, toward which he or she strives? Hope that helps a bit.”
        `
Maybe I’m kind of dense and missing the point here, but it sounds like you don’t agree with, or don’t like the common definitions or understanding of pessimism and optimism?
        `
So, I’m not satisfied with how reality looks to me and I intend to focus on the positive possibilities and ideals I think our planet could benefit most by.
        `
I don’t feel that focusing on positive solutions (optimism) makes me feel worse about how things are. Quite the contrary, if I think a better future is possible, it makes feel better about how things are.
        `
On the other hand, it’s vitally important to acknowledge the horrible reality (pessimism) of our situation and call out those most responsible for creating these monumental problems we face. But focusing only on the problems, without seeing any possibility of a better future, is crippling, to me.
        `
In order to keep me from completely giving up I have to see a path to viable, positive solutions along with the overwhelming barrage of problems being shoved in my face all over the alt media. It’s not just the MSM. Usually without any possible, viable solutions. Guess that gets more hits and donations?
        `
It’s a myth to say: “all that needs to happen is to get the truth out there.” That’s not enough. People are hiding from the truth. We need real, positive solutions to work toward.
        `
Real, humane solutions that will end the corruption of the global crime syndicate and allow people to get beyond their fear and come out from their hiding.

    2. Some of the great empires were not defeated in war but simply went bankrupt. War and imperialism are very expensive and the sociopaths who float to the top of an imperial control system are often not very good at taking care of business and farming the system. The US already seems to be in decline financially and technologically, which may be evidence of the results of its imperial past and its oncoming future.

If there were hope, Winston, realized, it lay with the proles. The proles, it suddenly occurred to him were not loyal to a party or a country or an idea, they were loyal to one another. For the first time in his life he did not despise the proles or think of them merely as an inert force which would one day spring to life and regenerate the world. The proles had stayed human. They had not become hardened inside.

  17. Thjis is not something new. Empires always have a unified foreign policy. That is what makes them an empire. Anyone who thinks putting any faction in the presidency or congress will change this are only kidding themselves. If a bunch of pacifist took over tomorrow, they would be removed quickly by whatever means, scandal, accidental deaths, heart attacks, etc

    1. Exactly my thought: ‘This is not new….’ I don’t know why people continue to imagine that there was a time when the boss media published the truth, or even if they knew or cared what it was. The big problem right now is that the social media have reduced the cost of publication to a point where almost anyone can do it, which undercuts the stories the authorities want to impress on the people. Hence the desire to censor such as Facebook and Twitter — or rather, make them censor themselves.

  18. Yes I did know that it was called the Dept of War. It gets even more surreal. After it was renamed the Dept of Defense, because the former was too politically incorrect, it remained in the war business. So, after 9/11 we needed a “new and improved” defense dept, and we got Homeland Security.

I’m not hopeful that we Americans can escape this insanity. Despite the US economy hanging on by its finger nails, in spite of the bank cartel propping up Wall Street, increased “defense” spending continues unabated. As if we were flush, healthy, and happy. Not only are the progenitors of destruction all on board with murdering people around the world, it appears they are quite willing to starve their own citizens to death in the process. Thousands line up at food banks, while we create new and improved means of killing people.

    1. Like Caitlin, I too am Australian. I laugh (cry) at the American derision of free healthcare for all. If I get sick in Australia, I can access medical care FOR FREE! What’s wrong with you people? Sure, we’re not perfect, but we’re not bankrupted or dead because we can’t afford health care.

      1. There is no such thing as “free health care”. Just a question of who pays for it. That’s the fundamental error in socialism. Nothing on this earth is free, it requires work or money, which is a the product of work. It may be handed to this one, but some other one had to put in the work, or furnish the money. Your “free health care” is financed by armed robbery. Whether the robbed party deserves to be robbed is another story. Though no doubt there are such deserving parties, their funds are limited. What happens when they run out? No health care? The success of any economic system can only be determined in the long run, as in centuries. Fiat currency has never passed that test.

        1. True. There is no free lunch.

          1. On the contrary, you can go to a Food Not Bombs food share and get a free lunch. Indeed, if there were no free lunch, we wouldn’t be here; we would all have died as infants. More generally, the sun, the earth, life itself were given to us free of charge. Free lunch is the most fundamental fact of the universe.

Socialism, however, is not free lunch. It’s a way of organizing one’s work and distributing the products thereof.

      2. To get your answer, Ken, just read JWK’s response to your comment and try to visualize millions upon millions of Americans who think just like him.

        1. Free healthcare is a misnomer. What the world gets is reduced healthcare. It is just too expensive to keep everyone alive for as long as possible. Thus you have huge backlogs of people waiting for cancer treatments today in GB. Full healthcare is only available to those who can pay for it. Just like everything else in life. Free and reduced for the masses and cash only top care for the wealthy.

  19. Same old rotten bloodthirsty depravity; some things never change!

  20. Well they need to off load there depleted uranium munitions somewhere …
    Business as usual

    1. Thanks for 1984. Opened at page 333, OBriens big speech on “ pressing the nerve of power” priceless & prescient

      1. “Have you forgotten doublethink?…Do you begin to see, then, what kind of world we are creating?…We shall abolish the orgasm…“
        Alright. Hold it right there!

    2. Here’s a good one from 1993, “Conspiracy and Class Power” —Michael Parenti at Berkeley

  21. Soounds terrible! I hope he maybe had a change of heart and will do better now,as I hope Biden will.
Do you think Biden will do any better with the freedom movement in Columbia? I ffear he may not.
Here is a link to an Org. supporting the Columbian peoples struggle, which is dire right now.

    1. The country in South America is Colombia.
Columbia is the capital city of South Carolina.

    2. One must have a heart to have a change of heart.

  22. will we ever hear shit like this during the primaries? Kamala just wants a job, hopefully on her upward tragic-tory streak. AOC, you got werk. there all just doing god’s werk now.
Can anyone get in there and ask them to answer one question?
    why?
the people elect, we kill. the people suffer. we kill more. they starve. we kill. they die off.
we move in…this is just like the Deep south during the cotton boom….before Geo Washington Carver invented peanut butter.
why are we so stupid? the Asian Heartland? Dominos? Trickling dickheads just a hanging on down. Why? Too many people? humanity makes 250 people a minute. Babies they call ’em. we kill ’em. Why? it’s worth it. we come. we see. they die. multiply if yo dont believe me: the answer is 130 million new people each year. like a new Japan yearly. maybe a new Vietnam. a new Mexico. and they are not all catholics, either. Birth control is a lost art.
    Why?
we are not fascist enough? not rich enough? not long enough? not so pretty anymore?
my homeland is not mine anymore. the fate is sealed in AR15’s…and new hybrid viruses getting easier and easier thanks to Doubna et al….UC Berkeley. Sapio gone. getting chrispr and chrispr….something really big is coming at us. soon. IKE warned us, almost right after he gave it birth. Black lives was serious but it was also a distraction. we need to decrease the police not defund. diminish. defrock them. they are not saints and avatars. they are high school dropouts! wake up! but if you wake up. do something as soon as possible.

eat sardines, tomatoes and food bank stuff. join the gang. any gang you like. it’s all good.
    you’ll need friends.
hope you get what you need. be happy with that.
all those stupid zombie movies? they were metaphors for now.

  23. I recommend for anyone that remains truly confounded by these baffling events to take another look at the Larouche PAC site and you will find all the surprising answers there. Not what we learned in school. It fits all the data. For a start see:
    https://orientalreview.org/2019/07/06/the-british-roots-of-the-deep-state-how-the-round-table-infiltrated-america/
Welcome back American Colonies to the irredentist British Empire!

    1. It is time consuming to peruse all of the commenters, but I scan them. This is a good up to date version of our history. And, I don’t intend confrontation with this offering, but the efforts to retake the colony has a deeper history that began with treason by elements of the founders. I found this very telling.

      https://www.strategic-culture.org/news/2020/10/06/the-1804-northern-secession-plot-and-the-founding-fathers-of-the-deep-state/

      1. The author of this is Matthew Ehret, who with Cynthia Chung at https://canadianpatriot.org/ are cutting edge brilliant. Their untold history project is a primer in understanding real world dynamics.

  24. The very nature of the social lives of giant poisonous rats, makes them much more humane than the humans that run the US, UK and Israel. The saddest part of it is is that they brag about it.

  25. Bow your heads in shame, embarrassment nd fear, America.

  26. awesome piece, Caitlin. So glad we will at least have you and the non-interventionist media to be critical of the incoming administration while everyone else turn into lap dogs all “see how much nicer and normal this is?”

  27. We might be slightly better off with Trump. Very slightly. Best would be neither of them, which might still be possible. Doesn’t look like Trump’s people will go quietly,

    1. The difference between Biden and Trump was the difference between a vicious dog and a rabid dog. It may be possible, with great difficulty, to corral the former and limit the damage it can do. The latter, being totally unpredictable as well as deadly, can only be put out of its misery.

      1. Well put. For quite awhile I was thinking that because Trump was random and incompetent, he might do less harm than a Deep Statist. But the business of inciting White Supremacy struck me as insanely dangerous. We don’t need this country to wind up in a 20-sided civil war like Yugoslavia.

        1. Yes, Anarcissie, just look at the incredibly irresponsible and dangerous attack Trump has launched post-election against the orderly transition of federal government, against the last vestiges of democracy in this fragile, deeply divided country. I’d love to see a revolution, as would many of us, but not one led by a flaming asshole and his mindless minions.

          1. General Trump?????????

  28. Deeply hidden projects in the Department of Offence might aptly be called…deep DOO.
