There has been a purge of left-wing accounts from social media, with socialist organizations being targeted on Facebook and multiple Antifa-associated accounts suspended from Twitter.

“We have just confirmed that Facebook has disabled the page of the International Youth and Students for Social Equality at the University of Michigan, as well as the accounts of all admins,” World Socialist Website editor tweeted today. “This is an unprecedented attack on the speech rights of an official campus student group.”

World Socialist Website also reports the following:

On Friday, Facebook carried out a purge of left-wing, antiwar and progressive pages and accounts, including leading members of the Socialist Equality Party. Facebook gave no explanation why the accounts were disabled or even a public acknowledgement that the deletions had occurred.

At least a half dozen leading members of the Socialist Equality Party had their Facebook accounts permanently disabled. This included the public account of Genevieve Leigh, the national secretary of the International Youth and Students for Social Equality, and the personal account of Niles Niemuth, the US managing editor of the World Socialist Web Site. In 2016, Niemuth was the Socialist Equality Party’s candidate for US Vice President.

Facebook also disabled the London Bus Drivers Rank-and-File Committee Facebook page, which was set up with the support of the Socialist Equality Party (UK) to organize opposition among bus drivers. This follows a widely discussed call for a walkout by bus drivers to demand elementary protections against the COVID-19 pandemic.

None of the individuals whose accounts were disabled had violated Facebook’s policies. Upon attempting to appeal the deletion of their account, they received an error message stating, “We cannot review the decision to disable your account.”

The New York Post reports the following:

Twitter has suspended several popular accounts with alleged ties to Antifa — which have more than 71,000 followers combined — following the Inauguration Day riots.

At least four accounts tied with the militant group have been yanked offline — including @TheBaseBK, the account for the anarchist center in Bushwick, Brooklyn.

Archived web pages of the accounts show they shared more than 71,000 followers and dated as far back as 2012.

Their pages now read “Account suspended” for violating Twitter rules.

This follows a mass purge of right-wing accounts in the wake of the Capitol riot earlier this month, a swing-back of the censorship pendulum that surprises nobody who knows anything about anything. That purge was broadly supported by shitlibs and a surprisingly large percentage of the true left, despite the overwhelming and growing pile of evidence that it is impossible to consent to internet censorship for other ideologies without consenting to censorship for your own.

I encountered many arguments in support of the right-wing purge from the online left while it was happening, and none of them were good.

“They’re only banning fascists,” they told me. “Why are you defending fascists?”

Well first of all there was never any evidence that these social media corporations were only purging fascists. We know for example that included in the sweep were tens of thousands of basic QAnon posters, who while ignorant and wrong would not in most cases meet most people’s definition of “fascist”. We don’t know who else was eliminated in the purge, but believing on blind faith that Facebook and Twitter were only targeting fascists who want to violently overthrow the US government is silly.

In reality these social media giants have never claimed to be “banning fascists”, and there’s no reason to believe that’s their policy; white nationalists like Richard Spencer are still there. And even if these outlets did have a policy of “banning fascists”, what definition of “fascist” are they using? Do proponents of Silicon Valley censorship believe they’ll be using their personal definition of fascism to determine whose political speech is off limits? Do you think they’ll be calling you personally to consult you on whom to ban? How do you imagine this works exactly?

And of course opposing the normalization of government-tied monopolistic Silicon Valley oligarchs controlling worldwide political speech on the platforms an increasing number of people use to communicate important ideas is not “defending fascists”. Opposing oligarchic authoritarian control is the exact opposite of defending fascism.

“They always censor the left,” they told me. “We’re just happy that now they’re censoring fascists too.”

So you imagine it can’t get worse? We just saw a major escalation against leftist accounts these past few days; do you think that’s the end of it? What do you imagine will happen if the left ever gets close to actually threatening the interests of the powerful after you’ve helped manufacture consent for the normalization of internet censorship every step of the way?

It can always get worse. The online left has not yet experienced mass-scale censorship of political speech yet; it’s experienced losing a few accounts here and there. You haven’t seen anything yet. Some Twitter leftists really seem to think that getting suspended because Kamala Harris supporters mass-reported them over a mean tweet is as ugly as this thing will get. If your goal is to threaten power at some point (and if you’re a real leftist it should be), then you need to oppose the normalization of any policies that can be used to silence those who threaten the powerful.

“Well it’s not like leftist revolution will be planned on social media anyway,” they told me.

You don’t use social media to plan the leftist revolution, you use it to create more leftists. You use it to bring consciousness and understanding to your ideas and your causes. Consenting to the institutionalization of the censorship of political speech is consenting to your own silence on this front, which will mean the only people who will be able to quickly share ideas and information online with the mainstream population will be those who support the very power structures you oppose.

And make no mistake, the imperial narrative managers most certainly do need the public’s consent for internet censorship. They don’t pour vast fortunes into manufacturing consent for evil agendas because it’s fun, they do it because they require the public’s consent. The empire’s inverted totalitarianism only holds together because they’re able to maintain the illusion of freedom and democracy; the iron-fisted silencing of wholesome political speech can only happen if the public has been paced into believing it’s a good thing. Every step of the tightening of the censorship noose is a part of this pacing, and if you consent to it, you’re helping them.

“Ultimately this content moderation movement will restore a system where the only allowable route to a mass audience is through a major institutional partner,” journalist Matt Taibbi recently observed.

That is it. That is the goal. They tried allowing free speech online while simply hammering us with propaganda to keep us asleep, but people still just wanted to use the democratization of information that the internet afforded them to talk about about how horrible the status quo is. So now they’re working to reinstate the supremacy of mainstream gatekeepers.

When you realize that corporations are America’s real government, the whole “it isn’t censorship if it’s a private company doing it” argument is seen for the joke that it is. When you learn that this censorship is being actively coordinated with the official government, it’s even more of a joke.

To support the censorship of online speech is to support the authority of monopolistic tech oligarchs to exert more and more global control over human communication. Regardless of your attitude toward whoever happens to be getting deplatformed on any given day, supporting this can only be self-destructive.

  3. It was always inevitable the New Left or Neoliberals would turn on Antifa when they were no longer of use to them. Once Antifa had served their purpose (demonization of Trump and the Right) they would in turn be censored and targeted. Antifa are not Left or Marxist in any way that makes sense. They have no common cause with Democrats or Liberals or with Socialists or Communists. Antifa are radical anarchists. They want to tear down everything and revert to a Darwinian barbarism. They have a naive ideology based on a mythology of ‘Natural Law’. In some ways Antifa have played a similar role as the Sturmabteilung did for Hitler’s Nazi Party. Now begins their night of the long knives.

    1. socialists or communists have no common cause with democrats, and antifa is mosly about resisting murderous criminals wearing blue uniforms. that has nothing to do with darwinian barbarism. the left and right actually have some common ground in fighting this new fascism and this takeover by the wealthy.

    2. Antifa simply means being anti-fascist, as Americans once were when we fought the Nazis. There are only to options. Either you are against fascism or you are for fascism. To be antifa is not really an affiliation, as there is no official antifa organization.

  5. Caitlin is right: “Corporations are America’s real government.” May I add that 99% of US citizens support corporations because they are dependent on corporations for their livelihood. The system is oppressive, enforced by the elite and stacked against the common man but slaves will not bite the hand which feeds them. The only practical solution: STOP enabling them by supporting and investing in their system. Refuse to cooperate with fraud, violence, deception and financial slavery. Do not use their money, banks, services, courts, or advice. Do not contribute and enable them. This is our greatest challenge but this is the only effective solution. 6. Purging of any recognized group also eliminates any opportunity to learn that to which they actually subscribe – unless you are already a member (or recruited by one) and do your ‘business’ in secret. Sounds like the next step will be the development of the new McCarthyism.

    1. Nah. The next step is to purge the spooks.

      1. Now of course, just talking to myself here, after you purge the spooks – whom by the way you would be advised to get as much information from them as you can prior to the purging – then it will lead up to others. Others in positions of power.
        ~
Who do you purge then or who purges whom? When they realize, those in positions of power, that “we” are coming for them, then they will basically have a decision to make. Do you think they will purge us all? If they try, then it will be a battle to the end. A glorious battle in which I believe truth will prevail – I hope it doesn’t come to that because truth sometimes has no mercy. More than likely they will realize that if they go that way then all they are doing is purging themselves first and possibly ALL of us. How stupid could that be, but in a fight to the end, the TRUTH always prevails.

That is why anybody who thinks they are the “Grand Editor” and that they have the authority to censor and change the story to advance their own ends deserve the ultimate punishment. Nobody has a patent on the story and once an idea is out then it is out – it can’t be owned.

        1. You might rethink your combative attitude and assertions. What is called for here is creativity, understanding and finesse. Transformation and a new paradigm are not warfare. Caitlin is so correct in constantly calling for inner development, so we do not fall into the bad habits of the past. You sound very younger and a bit silly. Anger is understandable, but I would say, given the stakes, one should not act out of anger, but rather strike out of wrath, in an intelligent way, with the right tactics, at the right time. Culture is a long game. We are building a new culture, on a vision.

  7. Ms Johnstone this article is well worth reading!
    ~
In this course of its investigation, researchers at Fordham discovered that EVERY SINGLE ONE of the 138 terrorist incidents recorded in the USA between 2001-2012 involved FBI informants who played leading roles in planning out, supplying weapons, instructions and even recruiting Islamic terrorists to carry out terrorist acts on U.S. soil. Reporting on the Fordham study, The Nation reported on this scandal stating:
    ~
“Nearly every major post-9/11 terrorism-related prosecution has involved a sting operation, at the center of which is a government informant. In these cases, the informants—who work for money or are seeking leniency on criminal charges of their own—have crossed the line from merely observing potential criminal behavior to encouraging and assisting people to participate in plots that are largely scripted by the FBI itself. Under the FBI’s guiding hand, the informants provide the weapons, suggest the targets and even initiate the inflammatory political rhetoric that later elevates the charges to the level of terrorism.”

We must not forget that the “System” censors everything that contradicts it, whether it comes from the left or from the right.

The “System” line is very easy to understand in this year 2021; humanity : There is only one future for mankind; a needle inserted in our b… (vaccine) to continue being able to live in this infernal and totally decadent society which the “System” offers us.

And I’m sick enough to hear about this pandemic as the only news that I can’t wait to drop my pants to receive the said vaccine. I just hope that at least the nurse is pretty.

  10. Who knows when we’ll try to pull up Caitlin’s blog for our daily dose of truth, as she sees it, and nothing will come up, her internet voice having been silenced, erased? No longer is this a farfetched thought; it’s now become almost a reasonable expectation. Yet human voices will continue to speak the truth as they see it in other ways, like they did for millennia before the internet was invented. So while we can, on the internet, let us tell the PTB, each in our own way, that they will not, cannot, win this war against the human spirit. As Caitlin has said over and over again, and as we know in our bones, that spirit is much stronger, much more resilient, much more ingrained in the very structure of reality, than any government or corporation. And, sooner or later, the human spirit will claim the future, so long as we continue to believe in it, express it, embody it. Who knows, this may be one of our last chances to say something to Caitlin, at least on this blog, so let me speak for myself and, I’m sure, for many others–the dozens that comment, the thousands that read–by offering our profound thanks and gratitude for the extraordinary gifts she has given us–her often stunning, ever-evolving wisdom, and the opportunity for us to praise or argue with her and with each other. PRICELESS.

  16. They fearmonger about fascists on the right when the real fascists are on the left. Great tactic. The left always ushers in authoritarian regimes, never the right. Nazis and communists are both left. Socialists are a danger to all societies because their pie in the sky hopes are always hijacked by a hitler type when society is destabilized but they keep thinking, oh next it will be better.

    1. I’ve been noticing that weird left-fascism play, too, lately.
I think it will be hard to enforce.

    2. Carolyn L Zaremba Avatar

Your ignorance is humongous. The Nazis were as far to the right as anyone can get politically. They murdered socialists! I am a socialist and supporter of the Socialist Equality Party, which is one of the parties whose accounts on FB have been pulled. You should be ashamed of displaying how ignorant of history you are, particularly on Caitlin’s page.

      1. They were the National Socialist Party. NAZI. They were socialists not Fascists. Mussolini was the Fascist. Call them what you want. The communists were sumply their boogieman to gain power.

      2. In truth Nazi were neither left or right. They included both sides. Hitler played both sides of the party against each other. When the industrialists offered better financing, he went with their support. He had no ideological slant other than to power. So we see socialists in the name to appeal to the peopke and racial bias of superiority to call to the downtrodden german. Thus to say Nazi is left or right is misleading. It was the social policies of the weimark that allowed hitler to come to power.

  17. Another aspect of the whole thing is that there really isn’t anything stopping these tech companies, like fb/twitter (or the government itself), from creating their own shill accounts, and using the shill accounts to cite as reasons for more censorship. They can also already manipulate the presentation of the data on all of their fake accts and on all of regular people’s actual accts (follows/likes/dislikes/views) because they are the ones running all of the computer mainframes, all of the server rooms, etc.
They can do it just like a ‘perp walk’ being staged on tv, only they don’t even need the ‘perp’, because they can just make the whole scene up.
We are really really only just starting to be able to see just how screwy the whole setup is, and we will likely realize more and more, as time goes by, how completely rigged the whole mess actually is.

  18. Remember Blacklists? All of us should:

  19. There is not really a left right pendulum. It’s a 0.1% hammer held over the heads of the 99.9%. Adhering to the right vs left paradigm helps the cause of the 0.1%. As does the exaggerated fear of a virus that might be possibly slightly more dangerous than the average virus.
Fear and division are the primary tools of tyrants, and we’re getting a megadose of both.
As long as socialists and capitalists see each other as their primary enemy, the 0.1% are delighted. Both see the state as the preferred tool of their ideology, while the state dominates with its own ideology, financed by the 0.1% with funds stolen from both. They’re psychopaths, and that fact encompasses their ideology completely. Not only are they unconcerned about our welfare unless it happens to coincide with theirs, they are not capable of such concern. No, you can’t test for it as a qualification, since somebody has to run the test, and those who run the test would most likely be among the very psychopaths you are testing for, or one of their lackeys. Sort of like gun control. Who controls the guns? Why that very organization that can’t survive without holding a gun to the heads of people. Government.

I advocate for discriminate punishment to be given to those few who perpetuate and prolong ongoing suffering of innocence. If it is discriminate, then it will send a very succinct message to those who thought they were “running the show”. Now, if you understand calculus, well you can integrate and you can differentiate. Anyhow, I think we are smart enough to differentiate together nowadays because truly most of us just want peace and harmony for our family as much as one could hope. There is enough going on in our own backyards to deal with and work upon, so we don’t need this sort of trouble from the Gubment. It’s been going on for far too long and WE KNOW. We know what to do and how to deal with the spooks. The spooks are fixing to get their own medicine. Hurts so good.

With nothing more than a pen and a stack of papers already provided from somewhere, the current President has thrown at least a quarter million previously well employed citizens onto the unemployment rolls, diverted huge reserves of oil slated for U.S. refineries to China, deferred drilling on Federal lands apparently until the “right people” get those leases, etc. Meanwhile, no dissent of any kind will be tolerated and Trump must be destroyed even out of office.

Anyone who supports censorship of any kind must thereby support repression of those censored if they manage to break the censorship. 27. Hi Caitlin, Such an important article. The pychodrama created over “fake news” was never about truth. It was always about power and it was always leading us to here. Thank you for your brilliant work – you’re on fire right now! Mark

  28. I haven’t been able to quite get a handle on the American political system until now because every time l think it’s democratic l then compare it to an actual democracy but it comes up short, definitely not a democracy! So what is it then? I think l have the answer, two actually and you can choose either one. The American political system is Democratic Fascism or if you prefer you can refer to it as Fascism with American characteristics! America really is exceptional, a unique country that stands apart from all others, not in a good way though! I wonder how many Americans actually believe that the rest of the world wishes they could be like America?

  29. It’s time to censor the censors. Don’t use Facebook or Twitter (better still, close your accounts), don’t use either of them to login to other sites, don’t respond to messages from either platform from your real friends (who will find other ways to contact you to find out what you’re up to), block them in your browsers, and tell everyone you meet what you’re doing and why. Might as well include Google, too.

    1. That’s all very well until sites like this get taken down, and your IP gets blocked.

  30. Screw it – I could give a flip tonight.

Here is the link the the fellow who transcribed the conversation between Kropotkin and Lenin. There are probably better links, but this just shows how easy it is to learn so much so quickly nowadays if you know how to look around. Imagine how quickly we could do it together if we choose to make that so. I don’t know about you, but I get off on learning. It is so easy these days and we I like to learn with reverence cause better to be a reverent soul than a “Grand Editor” fixing to die!

  31. Solid once again. You keep me awake.

  32. The so-called “great reset” envisions a bunch of robots taking over every day man’s way of making an earning.
    ~
    Here is another idea.
    ~
A great reset to reset all the imbalances that have been beset upon US – all of us. Every single one of us common peasants. All of us who just want peace and harmony.
    ~
Well guess what – the pendulum is already swinging back, and those of you already so full of so much fiat, will come to realize that the peasants control the pendulum and it is swinging back in our favor and we ain’t playing around.
    ~
Push the narrative as you will, but the truth is the truth and the times they are a changing. Turn, turn, turn.
    ~
Good night and my Bills lost their game, but there is always next season. You never know how the ball is gonna bounce in any given game, but in the long run, it should be evident by now. The power resides with the People!
    ~
    Go Bills!

    1. And then after Kropotkin spoke his mind, Lenin talked to his friend and said – keep him safe. He is an old man, but I respect his foolish wisdom.
      ~
Just kicked Kropotkin out, but he will be back!

    2. “Great Reset” I don’t know what that means, but I don’t think it means what you think it means…
The reset to a world of dwindling energy resources chokes every aspect of the economy we know. The current elite rent-collectors of the neoliberal persuasion are putting desperate measures into effect, and staging round after round of more restrictive measures, to maintain their power of extraction of lifeblood, but they are hastening the death of a dying economic model.
We need to live well with so much less energy, and COVID is starting us on the road to adaptation. It’s not accidental, but we should invest our time in a healthy future, any step that we can see, like growing vegetables, fixing something ourselves, helping a friend and riding a bike places.

Please check out this assessment of The Limits To Growth projections from 1972, with 2002 and 2017 updates. The projections remain very much on track, except for one correction, made in 2002, about when human population will peak.
20 years sooner than projected in 1972. Soon.

      1. Come on John Day. If you don’t even know what “it” means, how can you know that it doesn’t mean what I think it means?
        ~
You either know or you don’t. You are talking in circles seems to me.
        ~
I watched part of the video link provided by another poster here on the topic of the so-called “Great Reset” (uuughhh,……hold on…… I have to vomit…..oooh …..ugghhh….god)……—–anyhow, that is the basis of my statement. I didn’t watch the whole thing (it was over an hour long), because I got the gist of it after about 15 minutes.
        ~
Still, don’t say I don’t know something about something you admit you know nothing! Seems contradictory, and the funny things is besides your belief that the malicious powers simply cannot be overcome (or did I read you wrong?), I think we mostly agree. Man, why do I have to even type this….

        BK

        1. Hi Buffalo Ken, That was a quote from “The Princess Bride” movie.

      2. Yes, John, you’re seeing clearly IMHO. “We need to live well with so much less energy, and COVID is starting us on the road to adaptation.” In a similar vein, here’s a comment I made today on Bill Mitchell’s blog (billyblog): “‘Neoliberalism started with an attack on the poor, and, then to really advance its ends, started hollowing out the middle class.’ Not even to speak of ‘hollowing out’ the earth itself, neoliberalism’s relentless attack on all living things. The pandemic is a cruel corrective, and no one knows when it will end, to what ‘new normal’ it will lead. But one thing we do know: the pre-pandemic neoliberal global economy was speeding down the highway to hell, to ever-increasing oppression and ecocide. Those who long to return to the way things were have forgotten where that way was taking us. It was a road to certain death, and thus the change of direction–the reset–forced upon us was absolutely necessary, ominous though it appear at this point in many respects. Given that context, our task is clear: to make no attempt to go back but rather to move forward, with the resolve to do all in our power to make the reset serve the flourishing of life rather than its destruction. ‘Ring out the old, ring in the new,… / Ring out a slowly dying cause, / And ancient forms of party strife; / Ring in the nobler modes of life….’”

        1. Anyone who thinks that he “Great Reset” and its billionaire backers are concerned about the well-being of people and planet is seriously deluded.
          …………..

The entire thing is a globalist, capitalist, technocratic, authoritarian scam. People have bought the lie because this tyrannical takeover was shrouded in lies about the environment (their suggestions are all designed to make themselves rich, not to actually help the environment). These oligarchs hate sovereignty — both national and personal — and despise the people’s right to self determination.
          ………..

If they cared about the environment, they would be focusing on reforestation, international trade (one of the leading causes of pollution, including ocean pollution), planned obsolescence, and the wasteful habits of those who are always chasing after the latest fads. Notice that their “Green New Deal” has nothing green in it outside of money. It’s backed by the “green”energy industry, building & real estate industries, and the tech and finance industries. It’s an excuse to consolidate global power and control over all the world’s resources.

  33. The rhythm and quality of everyday life are being transformed in ways that only days ago would have struck most as the demented ramblings of a lunatic on psychedelic drugs, Stephen Karganovic writes.

The train of events which has taken us to the enthronement of False Dimitry (Juan Guaido, in modern parlance) is generating a “new post-January 6 normal” which is not just utterly distorting the face of the Republic of Jefferson and Lincoln, but makes it literally unrecognizable.

On the most mundane level, the rhythm and quality of everyday life are being transformed in ways that only days ago would have struck most as the demented ramblings of a lunatic on psychedelic drugs. A few days ago, the general descent into madness engendered the trans-Atlantic reincarnation of Pavlik Morozov, the 1930s ideologically alert youth who became a role model because he ratted on his deviationist parents, with consequences that were fatal for his father. Pavlik’s American counterpart is an alert daughter who on January 8 reported to the authorities on her mother’s illicit political sympathies vis-à-vis the recent electoral controversies. As disclosed by the admiring media, “many call[ed] her a ‘hero’ for holding her mother accountable, and others reaching out to offer support to the teen.” Granted, the mother has not yet been shot. But the direction in which this is taking us will be readily apparent to all mature readers with unimpaired historical memory, at least those from Pavlik’s geographical neighborhood.

But Pavlik’s migration to the free world in the cited instance is far from an isolated example. When Mayra Gomez, a California mother and life-long Democrat, disclosed to her young son her intention to vote for the politically incorrect Presidential candidate from a different party, we learn that “he cut her out of his life.” “He specifically told me, ‘You are no longer my mother…’ Their last conversation was so bitter that she is not sure they can reconcile.” In America, family break-ups over such things are a hitherto unheard of phenomena, at least since the Civil War over 150 years ago, as anyone with even a superficial familiarity with the country’s political temperament and culture can attest.

But the post-January 6 “new normal” pervades much more than family relations, being reshaped as they evidently are by little Pavlik’s virulent example. Previously unheard of and unimaginable incidents are popping up everywhere. Two women were ejected from a Delta Airlines flight on January 9 when they were overheard expressing support, in a private conversation, for the banned and vilified presidential candidate. The key code words here, of course, are “overheard” (who was snooping?) and “private” (the opinions attributed to the women are constitutionally protected speech, and they could have shouted them out instead of whispering in private, for all the legal difference it makes). One gathers that an informal, extra-legal new culture of public – and ominously, also private – speech is taking shape, and against it few avenues of redress seem to remain open.

Since it sprang up with a vengeance just a few days ago, that new culture has mauled citizens from all walks of life who apparently had the erroneous impression that they were still living in the same country in which they were once born. After a successful two-decade teaching career, Florida tenured psychology professor Charles Negy is facing dismissal for tweeting what have recently become unconventional views about the death of George Floyd in Minnesota, an event that last summer ignited large-scale riots throughout the country. As reported by the professor’s lawyer, “during Negy’s interrogation, he was asked to remember 15 years of classroom teaching, and his misremembering was considered to be lying by school investigators.” Note that interrogation is another evocative code word that many Eastern European readers will recall perhaps with a slight shiver.

Indeed, an active effort has sprung up to protect vulnerable young minds from the potential damage of being exposed to wrongthink. Concerned pedagogues are intensely reviewing suitable remedial strategies. “Several [school] districts,” we are informed by the media, “have suspended employees as they investigate potential wrongdoing.” To their horror, educators “are discovering that some of their own employees and school board members were among those supporting, attending, and even participating in the insurrection.” “Insurrection,” of course is the obligatory newspeak term (much like “genocide” in referring to Srebrenica) when alluding to the Antifa provocation on January 6, the criminal responsibility for which was skilfully deflected, precisely as the false flag scenario calls for. “The fallout from the insurrection,” the Education Week report continues unctuously, “highlights the tricky complexities district leaders face as they attempt to separate constitutionally protected speech from illegal activity and behavior that’s inconsistent with school values or violates employee codes of conduct.”

The matter is “tricky” to the extent that individual states happen to regulate differently the right of employees to participate in “lawful conduct during nonworking hours away from the employer’s premises.” But in the states where such an apparent violation of First Amendment rights is condoned, a legal expert explains that “although the First Amendment undoubtedly protects an individual’s right to attend a lawful protest, it affords no protection from the employment consequences of doing so.” So if you insist on exercising your legal rights in a way that does not impinge on your employment and still keep your job, it can get tricky for you indeed.

That is what employed people of various profiles found out quickly enough in the aftermath of the watershed January 6 date. The purge dragnet, assisted by state of the art face recognition equipment, did not spare police personnel, firemen, at least 50 elected officials, or even nurses, badly as they may be needed to fight the pandemic.

Except that Antifa thugs such as John Sullivan are exempted from the strictures which are rigorously applied to regular folks. Filmed in combat gear as he was explaining riot techniques to his followers in preparation for January 6 (8:20 to 11:02 minute marker), Sullivan was deceitfully misrepresented by The Washington Times as a benign “Utah activist who filmed the fatal shooting of a Trump supporter during the insurrection at the U.S. Capitol will be released on house arrest, a federal judge ruled Friday.”

People who should know better have forgotten what such a “long train of abuses” (to quote from a famous document that should ring a bell with most Americans) is likely to result in. It may be feasible to try to shut up a fringe group, but silencing considerably more than half the population is quite another matter. Feasibility, however, is but a minor, technical aspect of this issue. It is the moral question that looms large: is there anything more un-American than denying a fair hearing to an amply aggrieved dissenting party? Is there anyone who seriously believes that if they just try to beat the dissenters into submission, they will meekly give up and go away?

    1. Steve Jobs claimed LSD was the most profound thing he had ever done – he credited his creative brilliance to it !

Most of the great bands and lyricists of the 70s’ were also under the influence of LSD !

Escaping this REALITY is highly tempting !

      1. Your about to see a new full on Manufactured Psychedelic Revolution take place. This time though it will be marketed as Medicine. A whole new global corporate industry is springing up under this umbrella. Create the problem and offer the solution. The globalists have so far stayed away from the New
Age Spiritual movement. They are now creating New Age spirituality for the masses with meditation on Netflix and Magic mushrooms as therapy. Lots of money to be made out of alternative therapies as well as Big Pharma. Lucky masses eh!

    2. Excellent post, Roy. Thank you.

  34. Look if the internet shuts down, we can still send letters to each other, and if they try to keep us from doing that we can still take care of our neighbors. And then we can kill them one at a time and I will happily put the knife in the heart of those who have caused harm. I will happily watch their blood spill into the ground and I’ll grow a tomato plant where they died!

    1. So OK, you know that part about killing them one at a time was metaphorical don’t you?

It was a metaphor for the times.

I will never hurt my neighbor cause that would be stupid if you envision a future of Mutual Aid.

But I suppose in a hypothetical way, back there in the early 2000’s if I was in a room with Tom DeLay and/or George W. I would have done what I said in my post above – metaphorically of course. Sometimes though the metaphor might as well be the same thing.
      ~
The Tom DeLay cedar I transplanted lived and it survives in the front middle of my house and I’m glad it is there. I pulled out a bunch of bushes to plant that tree. I enjoy pulling out bushes it gives me pleasure to overcome their roots and literally pull them out of the ground and then spit upon them if I didn’t want them there in the first place. I’m growing what I want in my yard – are you not doing the same?
      ~
      2021 – reckoning!

      1. Your bit about killing them one at a time may have been metaphorical.
Their coming for us one at a time might be a bit more literal. What use will your knife, let alone a metaphorical knife, be against SWAT teams and the like?
Am I being unduly paranoid? Maybe, but deplatforming WSWS, SEP and anarchist groups and firing those with non-approved ideas could be a step toward something like this.

        1. Hey Ian Perkins….
          ~
My family and I took a trip to Boston in the summer of ’19. We stayed there a few days – the history is amazing – prior to departing for “the land of Ice” – Iceland was incredible. I’m so glad we went. I knew it was likely the last “nuclear family” trip for me, my lovely wife, and our two children, who are now all grown up.
          ~
Anywho, when we were in Boston I purchased the “Boston Massacre” print originally created by Paul Revere and it hangs on my wall just now in sweet frame.
          ~
That print is metaphorical as well (some liberties with the reality on the ground were taken if you must know….it was a “PR” piece). Nonetheless, it changed history! I enjoy looking at it, and I’m not afraid to say what I think.

          1. Can’t say I’d ever heard of it! But looking at ‘Boston Massacre Engraving by Paul Revere’ by the Paul Revere Heritage Project makes me think of Peterloo.

  35. The beauty of the irony of this is: When they try to censor communications as if they were the “Grand Editor” it will simply spell the end of them. They will be their own undoing and it will be obvious for all to sense. Let me try to explain.
    ~
The “grand” editors were never grand in the first place – the punishment for false editing is simple – if the scale is significant, ,and there has been suffering of innocence, then it is obvious – the punishment is DEATH! Death to the grand editors who never were grand in the first place. Sometime the narrative pushes back especially if it is the TRUTH, and narrative pushers who are pushing lies are gonna get what they deserve – DEATH is the punishment for this! It is obvious. Ask Lenin.
