No longer content with absurd claims that the January 6 Capitol riot was as bad as the 9/11 attacks, Democratic Party-aligned pundits are now insisting that it was in fact worse.

On a recent appearance with MSNBC’s ReidOut with Joy Reid, former Bush strategist Matthew Dowd said he felt the Capitol riot was “much worse” than 9/11 and that this is the “most perilous point in time” since the beginning of the American Civil War.

“To me, though there was less loss of life on January 6, January 6 was worse than 9/11, because it’s continued to rip our country apart and get permission for people to pursue autocratic means, and so I think we’re in a much worse place than we’ve been,” Dowd said. “I think we’re in the most perilous point in time since 1861 in the advent of the Civil War.”

Not to be outdone, Lincoln Project co-founder Steve Smith cited Dowd’s hysterical claim but adding that not only was January 6 worse than 9/11, but it was actually going to kill more Americans somehow, even counting all those killed in the US wars which ensued from the 9/11 attacks.

“He couldn’t be more right,” Schmidt said at a town hall for the Lincoln Project. “The 1/6 attack for the future of the country was a profoundly more dangerous event than the 9/11 attacks. And in the end, the 1/6 attacks are likely to kill a lot more Americans than were killed in the 9/11 attacks, which will include the casualties of the wars that lasted 20 years following.”

A total of 2,996 Americans were killed in the 9/11 attacks, and a further seven thousand US troops have been killed in Iraq and Afghanistan. Exactly one person was killed in the January 6 riot, and it was a rioter shot by police inside the Capitol Building. Early reports that rioters had beaten a police officer to death with a fire extinguisher turned out to have been false.

These bizarre alternate-reality takes are awful for a whole host of reasons, including the fact that this so-called “insurrection” everyone is still shrieking about never at any point in its planning or enactment had a higher than zero percent chance of overthrowing the most powerful government in the world, and the fact that they are manufacturing consent for new authoritarian measures just like 9/11 did.

But perhaps the most annoying thing about all the melodramatic garment-rending over how close the US Capitol came to being taken over by violent extremists is that the US Capitol has been under the control of violent extremists for a very long time already.

For all the fretting everyone has been doing about fascists and white supremacist groups, those are not the violent extremists posing the greatest threat and amassing the highest body count today. Neither are the communists. Neither are the anarchists. Neither are the radicalized Muslims, nor the fundamentalist Christians, nor the environmentalists, nor the incels. No, the most dangerous and deadly group of violent extremists in our day are adherents of the mainstream status quo politics of the US-centralized power alliance.

And it’s not even close. Certainly many of the groups listed above are dangerous and undesirable, but they’re not the ones raining explosives upon families around the world for power and profit. They’re not the ones brandishing nuclear weapons with steadily increasing recklessness as they ramp up a new cold war against Russia and China. They’re not the ones poisoning the air and the water and rapidly destroying the environment we all depend on for survival. They’re not the ones enslaving humanity to a brutal, oppressive and exploitative global capitalist system which leaves far too many toiling for far too little when there’s plenty for everyone.

That would be the so-called “moderates” of the western empire, who in reality are anything but.

It is violent to wage nonstop campaigns of military mass murder and impose civilian-killing economic sanctions on nations which disobey your dictates. It is extremist to brutalize, brainwash and enslave humanity while continuously shoving the world in the direction of extinction and armageddon in the name of profit and unipolar hegemony. Because US officials sit almost entirely on the right side of the global political spectrum, we can accurately say that everyone is fretting about violent right-wing extremists storming a Capitol building that had already long been occupied by violent right-wing extremists.

And yet when Facebook started sending Americans warnings that they may have viewed “extremist content” scrolling through their feeds, posts supporting this most dangerous group of extremists were not the content they were being warned about, but any kind of content which opposes the status quo those extremists have created. They’re killing the ecosystem and murdering people every single day while imperiling us all with the risk of nuclear war, my social media feeds are full of Americans literally trying to crowdfund their own survival while the world’s worst add trillions to their wealth, but it’s the people who want to change this abusive system who are the dangerous extremists.

Some analysts focus primarily on criticizing the really obvious monsters who spout racist and bigoted rhetoric to advance their toxic agendas. Others focus more on criticizing the monsters that are harder to see through the fog of feigned politeness and propaganda distortion, the ones you see in government buildings and on Fortune Magazine covers and on TV news shows telling you what to think about the world. Those who spend their time criticizing the latter more than the former are often attacked and ridiculed as fascist sympathizers and Kremlin assets, but only by those who don’t actually see the monsters that they are pointing to.

Hollywood trained us to fear psychopathic killers prowling around in the dark so we won’t notice the psychopathic killers who rule our world in broad daylight. We’ve been trained to fear the serial killer covered in blood and wielding a chainsaw so we won’t notice the serial killer wearing a suit and wielding a pen.

Our collective maturity cannot begin until we learn to see the violent extremist monsters where they actually exist, and not just where we’ve been trained to look for them.

    Tens of millions of average Americans “see the violent extremist monsters where they actually exist”, yet continue to vote for them time and time again and will do so yet again in the midterms. Who are these average Americans? Here’s a small sample:

    The fact of the matter is that the US has a war-based economy, but don’t take my word for it. George Kennan was a very influential US VIP for many years. He said the following just a few short years before the end of the Soviet Union.
     
    “Were the Soviet Union to sink tomorrow under the waters of the ocean, the American military-industrial establishment would have to go on, substantially unchanged, until some other adversary could be invented. Anything else would be an unacceptable shock to the American economy.”
     
    What Kennan said was not hyperbole. He meant exactly what he said, and what he said is even more true today than it was in Kennan’s time. In the years that have transpired since the USSR’s dissolution, Kennan’s prediction has been proven to be amazingly accurate. The US has created, and must continue to create, enemies in order to justify the US govt.’s borrowing of hundreds of billions of dollars for war corporations year after year after year, FOREVER!
     
    Do you truly understand that ramifications of this “system”? The US economy will LITERALLY collapse without that annual DoD injection. Tens of millions of direct and indirect jobs will cease to exist without that annual DoD injection (AKA “stimulus package”).
     
    On a personal note, I was born in 1950. I was raised in a small town in the state of Maine, USA, about 15 miles as the crow flies from Bath Iron Works (BIW). Like the tens of millions of people living in The Greatest Nation On Planet Earth who are directly or indirectly employed by the MIC, the 6 thousand or so human beings employed at BIW will do absolutely anything to keep their jobs, and that “anything” means voting for proven warmongers whenever they enter the voting booth. They always have. They always will.
     
    Here’s another example of the political/financial/economic/social impact of the MIC in another one of the 50 United in Perpetual Warfare States of America — Virginia:

    So, what is the likelihood that the vast majority of “average” voters in Virginia are going to vote for a peacenik for POTUS or congress?

    What is the likelihood that the vast majority of voters in Virginia are going to vote for a warmonger for POTUS or congress?
     
    Near certain.
     
    Is the reason that voters in Virginia and Maine select warmongers for POTUS election after election after election that they are brainwashed, propagandized, don’t love themselves enough, or haven’t stared at the moon or their navels long enough? Or is it because, in Virginia’s case, they vitally depend upon that yearly DoD injection of well over $50 billion dollars, literally forever?
     
    It’s the $50 billion!
     
    The awful truth is that Virginians and Mainers know exactly what they’re doing and why they’re doing it. As far as they’re concerned, the monsters in that photograph are all perfectly qualified to hold their offices because all of them will increase the war budget from here to eternity. They, along with the people they vote for, don’t give a shit how many people are killed by the weapons they help produce.
     
    The shocking truth is that the voters in Virginia are not going to vote for a peacenik during the next thousand years!
     
    Virginia is a microcosm of the USA. Americans say they want peace, but what they really want is perpetual war “over there” which justifies the annual DoD money-injection (which, in turn, requires the Fed to print literally “whatever it takes” amount of USD out of thin air which will pay for those injections from now to eternity) …………… until the bombs drop on Main Street, USA, anyway. Then there will be a very serious, nearly-instantaneous, nation-wide “attitude adjustment”……… in the heads of those still “living”, of course.

      If the government was not controlled by the security state factories could retool and produce “non-genocidal” items. 99% of all production materials could be used to modernize the decaying infrastructure, educate the illiterate, house the homeless, and supply decent free heathcare for the entire population. This would generate “even more employment” than there is now. However, it’s a pipedream since greedy psychopaths manage everything and will persist in fabricating “Cold War fantasies” while bombing defenseless Third World countries, so a tiny percentage of the population can possess multiple million dollar residences.
      The US is not alone the planet is run by an “international gangster class.”

  4. Before 9/11, eventually, if someone give money to a media outlet they would consider to write an article about the truth. After 9/11 it’s impossible and you can be labeled as a terrorist trying to implode that building made of lies. About the Riot or whatever they are calling that, they cannot go on without punishing the Republican Party. People there were republican voters holding American flags and all sorts of trump supporters. They were demanding a political change. Which is impossible under the actual economic shift of power going to the East where Russia and China will shape the world in the centuries to come. Not sure about that but it’s where the clash of powers are fighting for right now. The revolution needs money. Lenin and associates were desperately in need of it to move on and America was the one with the help of Rockefeller to make that happen. Not the people. People are just pawns on this big game.

    the democrats or anyone else whom sees an opportunity to bash the opposition will take that opportunity, its all about the advantage of the moment, like frantic dog packs fighting, long term attention is impossible for them, they just bark out whatever.
    The fact is the democrats have been absolutely essential to the republican play book, without constant neolibral betrayals the Republicans would be out of a source of new adherents, Democratic outrages keep the republican outrages in business, they should thank one another.

  6. What these guys said only confirms there’s a long haul deep state conspiracy to eventually send 9/11 down the memory hole as a non-event – just like the JFK assassination.
    Why? Anyone’s guess is as good as mine but one thing is sure: a six year old can’t believe the official narrative. Even the guys commissioned to write the report said they were taken for a ride by a governmental cover up. Why? This cover up received bipartisan support in Congress. Why? And then also bipartisan media support. Why? Icing on the cake, both Bush and Cheney refused to testify under oath. Why?
    It’s clear there was terrorism that day but what is not clear is who the terrorists were. As the late Rumsfeld said to Saint Peter last week: “There are things we know, things we don’t know, things we know we don’t know and things we don’t know we don’t know”.
    Sources differ on what Saint Peter replied. According to AP, he said: “I know”. According to Reuters: “Get a grip man!”
    Perhaps a guy with a thick bullet-proof vest (and a good life insurance if he’s got fambly) might find MIC fingerprints behind all that but so far, absent any evidence, if you want an opinion, you’ll have to ask Ana Kasparian.
    In any case, there’s been alternative theories ad nauseam about the WTC and the Pentagon, including controlled opposition window-dressing, limited hangouts, wild goose chases and internal strife among those who agreed, those who disagreed, those who agreed to disagree and those who disagreed to disagree so that, in the end, through intermediary stages, you would expect a dude one day to send a sounding balloon by boldly claiming (especially given that a lot of family members are still alive, frustrated and/or angry) that 3,000 dead on 9/11 was a non-event or at least a minor one compared to a buffalo-horned-shaman led carnival parade in the Capitol in what would be described by posterity as the second most horrible thing mankind did to itself after the Holocaust.
    However, there are multiple references to the WTC and Pentagon events but very few to Shanksville which has unfairly been relegated to second fiddle position in the 9/11 saga.
    The media started by telling us that the Fire Department’s first responders could see very few debris which seemed to have been scattered there (probably by something similar to what Adam Smith called “the hand of the market”) and a local journalist even doubted candidly that a plane could have crashed there. Then we got more reasonable explanations to the effect that the plane had buried itself into the ground, which is why most of it couldn’t be found. And in twenty years, nobody has disproved this theory because nobody has bothered to dig to find out. Why?
    Well I’ve done some research into that myself and I am in a position to reveal now to the public what I was told in Australia by a kangaroo with whom I had sympathized while having a beer near Ayer’s Rock. There’s very few kangaroos in that area, which is why he caught my attention and I immediately asked him, in order to break the ice: “What do you think of 9/11?” – as advised by my guidebook.
    According to him, the Shanksville plane started digging into the ground in Pennsylvania until it had completely disappeared – as the US media duly told us indeed – but it didn’t stop there. It went on digging, pushed by the propellers which hadn’t stopped functioning, went all the way along Jules Verne’s map to the Center of the Earth and beyond, got out at the antipode near Ayers Rock, where this kangaroo, who was on vacation there at his brother in law’s fly-chasing club, saw – much to his surprise – the nose of that plane push through the ground like a giant mushroom.
    However, his surprise didn’t end there since he then saw Osama bin Laden get out of a nearby bush, dragging a large Ali Baba type chest behind him. Osama started dismantling the emerging part of the plane and put the pieces in his chest which he then laid on the bed of a 4X4 that he drove through the bush all the way to Alice Springs with the kangaroo on his tail. There Osama mailed the chest to his cave in Afghanistan c/o the caretaker.
    The kangaroo bribed the post-office clerk to get a copy of the receipt which he showed me. He then wrote to the mayor of Shanksville to tell him that story and this explains, according to him, why nobody ever dug there in twenty years to try and find the fuselage of the missing plane.

    I agree that the capitalist, imperialist government is the most violent terrorist organization. However, the attack on the Capitol on January 6 really was a coup attempt. It was just done by a mass of people who want the government to be even MORE violent and corrupt than it already is. It was a coup attempt encouraged by a corrupt president, whose psychiatric equilibrium is questionable at the very least, and dangerous at worst. Like all demagogues, he has delusions of grandeur that he believes he has a right to indulge at the expense of other people’s lives. People like him are convinced that only through total control of the world, through intimidation and violence, will their delusions remain unchallenged.

    The followers of this demagogue are even more insecure and ignorant than he is. They, too, see enemies and threats under every carpet, behind every tree, behind every pair of eyes that they struggle to meet. They only feel safe carrying military-grade weapons to the supermarket. They know no history.

    These people fully intended to kidnap and kill members of Congress. That would not have been as high a body count, but its consequences would have been just as terrible. I have no love for the Congress, but murdering them is something that we used to be taught only happened in banana republics or “communist” countries. Do you really believe that a successful string of Congressional murders would create a stable government?

All four belonged to the Puerto Rican Nationalist Party and only hours earlier had traveled from New York City to Washington, DC.

      The United States had annexed Puerto Rico in 1898, and the island’s relationship with the federal government had long been a point of contention. I am an old man of the opinion that ” the owners and the masters ” running the United States intend to do away with the constitution, the congress, and the courts and establish permanent ” martial law ” from sea to shining sea! Assuming, as is probable, that some of the participants in the January 6, 2021 riot in the Capitol believed that the 2020 presidential election had been stolen through electoral fraud and media distortion and manipulation of facts, were their actions qualitatively different than those of other Americans who engaged in civil disturbances described by official American historical narrative as patriotic?

    How should patriotic Americans behave in the face of what they believe to be intolerable political conduct?

    In 1861, that justified invasion of Southern States that had declared independence, in 1774, it justified the initiation of violent resistance to British colonial rule. The issue is both more complex and more dangerous than the corporate media permits us to consider, and if the Declaration of Independence and Constitution have any meaning and force of law at all, they present us with severe challenges, both judicial and with respect to exercise of police powers. Are riots and destruction aimed at private establishments in political protests more appropriate than comparable conduct directed at the centers of political conduct directly responsible for the actions complained of?

    The answer would seem to be that perhaps the single place in the entire world where political protest is most appropriate is in the United States Capitol. The questions before us are really: “Is violence ever appropriate in the defense of political rights and values”; “What are the legal consequences of being wrong”;, and, “Who determines if that is the case?” This would seem an excellent time to apply John Rawls’ “veil of ignorance” hypothesis in the creation of applicable norms but the reality is that neither we nor any established government recognizes the rights of the People annunciated in our Declaration of Independence:

    We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.–That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, –That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.

    Something to think about as we become more and more polarized, truth becomes more and more irrelevant and hypocrisy becomes the norm.

The elites need to push a narrative that middle and working-class Americans who care about their country and election integrity are “white supremacists” and “insurrectionists,” even though there is no evidence for either of these claims. This is how they will justify stripping away Americans’ First, Second, Fourth, and Fourteenth Amendment rights. It’s already happening, and it is moving quickly. This is the group that has the wealth (many small business owners), size, and weapons that give them the capability to push back against the techno-fascist globalist takeover, and that’s why they are being targeted. Once they are taken down. there will be no one left to resist.

    We are experiencing unconventional warfare. This is not a war between countries, and they are not using guns and bombs as first-line offensive weapons. They are using chemical (environmental and other toxins that have caused a 60% reduction in sperm count and testosterone levels in the past 40 years), biological (virus and vaccines, among others), cyber (hacked banking, healthcare, infrastructure and other vital systems), financial (trade, currency, and debt manipulation), propaganda (all around us, and it’s coming from longstanding U.S. institutions, as well), and other weapons first.

    This is a war between the 1% and the 99%. Note how the narrative shifted from economics and power to identity politics after the financial crash, which is when everyone was aligned against the elites. Occupy Wall Street scared the shit out of them because people from all across the political spectrum aligned for a moment and began targeting the real enemies. The established powers decided to never let that happen again. They are using tribal friction and ID politics to distract and divide us in order to conquer us.

    The Great Reset is not about making the world a better place. It’s a way to further consolidate wealth and power on a global scale so that the wealthiest and most powerful people in the world will be able to control all global resources through a surveillance state that is facilitated by surveillance (“smart”) technology and the Internet of Things.

    Globalism is colonialism, and public-private partnerships (what the WEF is pushing) is genuine fascism.

    If truth be told, many who participated in the 1/6 event were “older Americans” in financial distress. The dwindling middle-class most intensely feels the government’s heavy hand squeezing their throats daily. They’re the ones with diminished income and savings. They’re the ones paying taxes absconded by the usual DC predators who inundate the security state and Pentagon.

    Interestingly enough, many of the protesters were veterans who were thanked for their service when they risked their lives on multiple tours of duty for needless wars but are now mocked, demonized, and arrested for expressing outrage against political corruption. Smarmy mainstream media news commentators pontificate about patriotism and democracy, but would never consider serving in the military or soiling their well-manicured fingernails participating in “uncorrupted public service.”

    It should be noted, that the only one on 1/6 shot dead with a bullet through her neck was Ashli Babbitt. An
    Air Force veteran. The name of the Capitol Police Officer who murdered her has still not been released to the public.

      No, they’re not. But some of them have been mis-educated to believe that nutty things are “normal”. They have been taught that a world dominated by billionaires while millions starve is normal.       1. I understand moi’s point. I lived in what were essentially underclass neighborhoods in Brooklyn and Manhattan in NYC. I never felt afraid of my neighbors or the people on the street. Then I moved to rural Maine and my neighbors, not-too-bright Republicans, sold their house to an M.D. from Connecticut. For the first time I thought of buying a gun to protect myself; the dude was an utter loony. He wrote a post for a local Tea Party website that was so extreme the website took it down. The police in northern Maine just killed a man who was brandishing a gun in someone’s yard then at the police when they arrived. A witness said, “What has happened? This is not the Aroostook County I grew up in.” As our horrible nutrition and abysmal medical care and general insanity come home to roost, we are going to see more and more lunatics of the everyday variety.

The fault lies in the notion that he himself actually represented those displeased. Far to many fell for it. The January 6 incident was paltry compared to what went on in several major cities last year, declared to be “peaceful protests” by corporate media..
