Listen to a reading of this article:

In what’s surely the biggest “Imagine the outrage if Trump had done that” moment to date, the Biden administration has admitted that it is giving Facebook a list of accounts to censor for spreading “disinformation” about the Covid-19 response.

“We’ve increased disinformation research and tracking,” Press Secretary Jen Psaki told the press on Thursday. “Within the Surgeon General’s Office, we’re flagging problematic posts for Facebook that spread disinformation. We’re working with doctors and medical professionals to connect medical experts with people, who are popular with their audiences with accurate information and boost trusted content. So, we’re helping get trusted content out there.”

Psaki told the White House press corps that the administration has a list of accounts who produce most of the anti-vaccine information on Facebook, which civil libertarians are decrying as an obviously authoritarian government overreach.

“The Biden administration is telling Facebook which posts it regards as ‘problematic’ so that Facebook can remove them,” Glenn Greenwald said on Twitter in response to the news. “This is the union of corporate and state power — one of the classic hallmarks of fascism — that the people who spent five years babbling about fascism support.”

“If you don’t find it deeply disturbing that the White House is ‘flagging’ internet content that they deem ‘problematic’ to their Facebook allies for removal, then you are definitionally an authoritarian,” Greenwald said. “No other information is needed about you to know that. There is no circumstance — none — in which it’s acceptable for the White House or any other agency of the government to be providing lists to Facebook of ‘problematic’ content it wants removed, yet that’s exactly what Psaki says they’re doing. The White House is admitting that they’re compiling lists of people who they claim are posting content they regard as ‘problematic’ and that constitute ‘misinformation’ and are demanding Facebook remove them. This is authoritarianism.”

The most common argument you’ll hear from those who support monopolistic social media giants controlling speech on their platforms is that these are private corporations, not the government, so it doesn’t count as censorship. Whenever you object to Silicon Valley oligarchs exerting total control over the political speech of billions of people, mainstream liberals instantly transform into an army of Ayn Rands defending the private property rights of those companies. The fact that these platforms are inseparably interwoven with the highest branches of the US federal government kills such arguments stone dead.

And if you were paying attention, that argument was already dead. All of these online platforms use censorship and algorithm manipulation to hide undesirable political speech from the mainstream public in direct collaboration with government and government-tied institutions.

In 2017 Senator Dianne Feinstein threatened social media platforms that alleged Russian interference in the 2016 election means they need to start utilizing more censorship or else face consequences, saying, “You created these platforms, and they are being misused. And you have to be the ones to do something about it—or we will.”

That same year representatives from top internet platforms were brought before congress and told they needed to adopt a “mission statement” expressing their commitment “to prevent the fomenting of discord,” because “Civil wars don’t start with gunshots, they start with words.”

In the lead-up to the 2020 election online platforms were openly coordinating with US government agencies to censor speech believed to compromise election integrity.

Facebook, the largest social media platform in the world where a third of Americans regularly get their news, openly enlists the government-and-plutocrat-funded imperialist narrative management firm The Atlantic Council to help it determine what content to censor and what to boost. Facebook has stated that if its “fact checkers” like The Atlantic Council deem a page or domain guilty of spreading false information, it will “dramatically reduce the distribution of all of their Page-level or domain-level content on Facebook.”

Google, which owns YouTube, has been financially intertwined with US intelligence agencies since its very inception when it received research grants from the CIA and NSA. It pours massive amounts of money into federal lobbying and DC think tanks, has a cozy relationship with the NSA, and has been a military-intelligence contractor from the beginning.

“Americans deserve to know to what extent the federal government works with social media companies,” former congressman Justin Amash said on Twitter in response to Psaki’s incendiary admission. “Is there any quid pro quo? The First Amendment exists to keep the government from controlling what Americans hear. Free societies counter misinformation with information, not bans.”

“Democrats have summoned tech executives to the Congress at least four times in the last year,” Greenwald replied to Amash. “The last time, they repeatedly and explicitly threatened regulatory and other legal punishment if they don’t start censoring more: the content Dems regard as disinformation or ‘hate speech.’”

In a corporatist system of government, where there is no separation between corporate power and state power, corporate censorship is state censorship. The actual government as it actually exists is censoring the speech not just of its own people, but people around the world. If US law had placed as much emphasis on the separation of corporation and state as it had on the separation of church and state, the country would be unrecognizably different from what we see today.

Only infantile narcissists and power-worshipping bootlickers want the most powerful government on earth controlling what people are allowed to say to each other about a virus response which affects everybody, and only those with no sense of self-preservation entrust worldwide human speech to an alliance of government agencies and powerful tech plutocrats.

We cannot keep heading in this direction.

I have a couple of videos on my phone, of when my right arm and right leg went numb, and I called the V.A. to see if I could see the doctor. They told me that my appointment wasn’t till May of 2022, and that, maybe I might need to go to the hospital. She connected me to another line that just kept saying, All of our agents are currently assisting other callers, please stay on the line, and your call will be answered in the order it was received. After 1:45 minutes, the second video I recorded said, I’m sorry, we are currently experiencing system problems and are unable to process your call, please try again later. I was wondering, if I was to post these recordings on line, would I have to escape to another country for fear of prosecution Like Snowden? Scary!
Makes me think, that maybe these veterans are dying on the phone, and rather than admitting guilt, they just wright them off as suicides!

  4. “Can’t get over how brazen the Biden administration is being in just announcing that it’s their place to determine who should be banned from social media platforms and how little backlash there is against this. Just imagine if Trump had done this. Seriously, imagine it.”
    ~
Not only social media (censoring the sharing of sources on Facebook etc) but also text messaging in the pedestrian phone calls you place with your mobile phone! Communicating your own ideas in your own words!! These are blatant Gestapo tactics. It presupposes that constant spying on your use of electronic communications devices is just fine and dandy rather than a brazen violation of the Bill of Rights. Interfering with your rights to privacy and free speech are obviously just baby steps in the direction of total tyranny to them. Not worth your complaining. Move along, nothing to see here… and be sure you walk in cadence with everyone else…or else! I think the citizens of Bregna had more rights in the animated series Aeon Flux then the current regime has planned for the US.
    ~
It also chaps my ass that Loco Joe said that he is going to order his minions in the US government to meddle in Cuba and somehow restore the internet that he accuses that government of jamming. (He who brazenly interferes with the internet in our own country!!!) This would obviously involve invading Cuba, or, at the least, sending special ops over there to covertly interfere with their infrastructure, which would conveniently escalate to the first step in another US-directed coup. Not Washington’s call in another sovereign nation, even if it were done for altruistic reasons–of which I will remain highly doubtful after 60 solid years of economic siege against that country.
    ~
Loco Joe and his Democrat power base are suffering delusions of omnipotence. They somehow “won” an election to control the executive branch and basically legislate from the strength of a tie in both houses. They think they therefore have a mandate to overturn the entire existing political and social order in this country, as well as far beyond its own borders. Absolutely stunning that this attitude is allowed to prevail.

  5. There is no sugar-coating on this; this is reality!
    ~
American regime-change policy happened in the United States in 1963 with the slaying of President Kennedy. That is not a conspiracy theory. It is a fact. His successor, Lyndon Johnson, gave the green light to the Vietnam War, as well as genocidal regime change in Indonesia in 1965 and many other imperial intrigues that the CIA and the military-industrial complex were desiring.
    ~
Arguably, no president ever since has dared question the imperial policy as dictated by the deep state. The relentless and irrational aggression towards Russia and China by one Washington,D.C. administration after another regardless of Republican or Democrat window-dressing in the White House is proof of that hideous reality.

  6. But why is the article titled “Biden Administration Completely Kills The “It’s A Private Company So It’s Not Censorship” Argument” when in fact they are using that argument?

    1. Because they use the “it’s a private company” argument out of one side of the mouth while “asking” the tech giants to censor out of the other side.
Same thing with jab mandates. The Administration won’t have to take on the legal mess and risk backlash as long as the private sector will do that dirty work.

    2. So the title should be “Biden Administration USE THE FALSE ARGUMENT “It’s A Private Company So It’s Not Censorship” ” A minor correction suggestion, but does affect audience interest.

  7. Flakebook and the other Anti social media? are like religion, a divisive anti social force in society. Yes; I know, like religion, they do some good but on balance they are the absolute worst part of modern society. When you think about how creepy they are, how much power they have, you wonder why they are allowed in an ostensibly free?? society but then again, religion serves the interests of ruling classes so that omnipresent fraud is allowed, even encouraged by the power’s that be. Don’t get me into the banksters creating debt money from nothing and charging interest on it….

    .
‘The Outer Limits’ was a legendary science fiction TV show that ran in the USA in the early 1960s (and later in re-runs). It began each episode with a now famous verbal introduction:
    .
“There is nothing wrong with your television set. Do not attempt to adjust the picture. We are controlling transmission. If we wish to make it louder, we will bring up the volume. If we wish to make it softer, we will tune it to a whisper. We will control the horizontal. We will control the vertical. We can roll the image, make it flutter. We can change the focus to a soft blur, or sharpen it to crystal clarity. For the next hour, sit quietly and we will control all that you see and hear. We repeat: There is nothing wrong with your television set…”
    .
Let’s see. Controlling everything we see. Controlling the volume. Controlling what ISN’T to be said. Do not attempt to change anything. They will control it all…
    .
Why does all this seem to remind me of something today?
    .
If there is to be any kind of honest accounting of history in the future… all one needs to do to understand what our World today is all about is to read ‘1984′ and to watch the intro of The Outer Limits.

    1. “I’m the best you can get
      Have you guessed me yet?
I’m the slime oozing out of your TV set.”

  11. “In a corporatist system of government, where there is no separation between corporate power and state power, corporate censorship is state censorship. The actual government as it actually exists is censoring the speech not just of its own people, but people around the world.”
    `
In a corporatist system of government, no individuals are responsible for the system. If no one is accountable for that system of government, there is absolutely no way to change it.
    `
Yet, it’s clear there are people, with names and faces, who control the U.S. government. People who want us to believe that “the system” has a life of its own, that it can not be fixed. They want us to believe that everyone is responsible and no one is responsible. Nonsense.
    `
The robber baron crime syndicate, made of, mostly, individual billionaires and dynastic billionaire (trillionaire?) families, pull the strings and have the most influence in our society, our institutions, our corporations and many of the daily actions and choices our citizens make. Not only do they control the U.S. government but governments around the world.
    `
The Biden administration is merely one tool for them to carry out their agenda.
    `
In my opinion, it’s hopeless to talk about changing “the system” without talking about those who control it.
    `
The only way to change “the system” is to make the people who created it, control and continue to expand it, accountable for their atrocities.
    `
I think the idea that, somehow, these people have “seen the light” and will create some kind of “great reset” that is better for everyone is insane.

    1. I was talking to a young man in the Army awhile back and he understood the situation, along with his buddies. The smart ones are not as brainwashed as the grunts as their job requires the ability to adapt to the situation and deal with reality.

The military and police protect the traitors to humanity. If they ever wake up and realize that they are enslaving their own families by “just following orders,” their game is over.

    2. Thank you thank you thank you!!!

The argument “It is all systemic! Don’t even bother..!” is nothing but distraction, and no different from the shallow, stupid argument “It’s A Private Company So It’s Not Censorship”!!!
Understanding this means finally crawling out of Platon’s friggin’ cave..

Thanks again for shredding yet another major mind prison argument so eloquently!

  13. Are corporations truly live entities or is that just legal mumbo-jumbo?
    ~
I think the latter. I know the latter. They, corporate entities, are NOT alive as Homo sapiens are nor as an individual Homo sapiens is.
    ~
Still , the so-called “supreme court” made a decision suggesting they were in the eyes of the law. Tax law, other law, etc. seems lacking in jurisprudence to my self-taught legal opinionated live homo sapien.

I reckon that is when the swift diminishment of justice on the current curve commenced in an exponential manner.

Imagine the outrage if Trump had done that,” the Biden administration has admitted that it is giving Facebook a list of accounts to censor for spreading disinformation.”

Biden was installed to “more effectively” implement the “fascist polices” of the security state.

Why are renowned physicians, virologists, and epidemiologists censored from social platforms? What is the security state afraid of? Americans need to know the entire COVID story. Americans need to know if there’s viable treatments for COVID and if that’s the case, then emergency authorization for an experimental vaccine bypassing animal testing is a crime against humanity.

Why isn’t mainstream media news discussing the worldwide VAERS statistics, noting the deaths and adverse reactions in the same way they displayed a daily “Death-o-Meter” and “Case-o-Meter” prior to the 2020 presidential election?

Why is critical scientific data suppressed and those who dare speakout are threatened with loss of their medical license or research funding.

Anyone who tells you the science behind treating a disease is “settled” is either a liar or a deranged nincompoop. New information regarding COVID treatments as well as the adverse effects of RNA gene therapy vaccines are constantly surfacing and should be “widely reported” on all social platforms.

The use of a non-diagnostic “tool” to inflate “cases” and similar tomfuckery for death certificates.
Big Pharma in general, and DARPA, Moderna, & Pfizer quite specifically.
The attempted wholesale destruction of what it means to be an autonomous human being.
The elimination of informed consent and attempts to jab children without parental authorization.
The coercive drive to “separate” and punish the “unjabbed” in our schools and workplaces.
With the mechanism for harm due to the jabs being established, and with “jab”injuries and deaths mounting, and with “infections” and deaths in the “vaccinated” occurring fregularly (oh, we need boosters!), the continued insistence that the jabs are safe and effective is disgusting.
Telling people to stay at home if you feel sick (with no treatment recommendations) and not to go to the hospital unless and until you start having trouble breathing. (The promotion of helplessness and fear).
There’s more to put in the “disgusting” column, but perhaps you get the drift….

Implement a 24-hour rule. No re-posting, retweeting or re-anything for 24 hours. Same with commenting. Let 24 hours elapse before opening comments. That way you’ll olny get commenters who read and understood and remember what they’ve read, and still want to comment.

  18. Corporations are NOT private in any way. They are a creation of the state, and have only those rights their creator grants them, and can just as easily be taken away. Which makes them beholden to the state. So when the state hands them a list, they better use it, or their corporate rights will disappear and the IRS may put them out of business.

As you know, the sponsoring of our gang depends heavily on Big Pharma and their financial well-being is decisive if we want to go on winning. So we’ve managed to reach an agreement with Facebook: every scientist who’s not a rabid fan of those swindlers’ bullshit jab can’t post there any more. It’s a great victory for democracy. It was that or Big Pharma was gonna have them whacked by the CIA. That’s how you give murderous psychopaths a bad reputation… You’ll also be happy to learn that our grand priestess Nancy Pelosi is as thick as thieves with these scammers. Not only do the Silicon Valley bullies sponsor her campaigns but she and her hubby make millions of dollars out of their stocks in order to buy ice cream.

I suppose they let her in on some little secrets in exchange for putting the kibbosh on some projects of regulations in a classic revolving door scheme but there’s no evidence of that – they’d be foolish to exchange traceable communications seeing as they live in the same neighborhood and can meet discreetly at the hairdresser’s – and it’s none of our business anyhow.
“By the way, I see a couple of dudes back there who are not fully on board with our little operation. This will have to change or I’ll make sure you lose your accreditation to the White House on account that you’ve got the bubonic plague and are a threat to free and fair information of the public. Thanks for coming and God bless Sleepy Joe and his generous corporate masters!”

Hahahahahaha! Best stuff I’ve read in a while. I’d post it to FarceBroke, but Zucky’s minions would ‘fact-check’ it out of existence. The Goebbels stuff doesn’t work as easily now, but they are certainly giving it their all trying, eh?

      1. Thanks. It certainly wouldn’t pass the smell test at Facebook. There’s too much truth in it, which spoils the blend :o)

But the Democrats are GOOD people, not like those evil Republicans! I have actually heard this refrain, and it’s even scarier than the sleepwalking to a corporate state than anything else. Friends who consider themselves open minded intellectuals shout me down or refuse to speak to me when I point out how scary this stuff is. They’ve been hypnotized. We’re not getting socialism, kids. It’s authoritarianism/totalitarianism.

    1. It is frightening to see how totally brainwashed people have become. Many of us have had this experience — we can show people actual videos of politicians and “world leaders” saying things about taking kids away from their parents if someone in the household gets the virus, or about locking people in “re-education camps” if they voted for Trump, etc. — and the people will literally push the information away or avert their eyes. They are not even willing to examine if their beliefs align with actual facts.

I’m calling the new order “techno-fascist globalism,” because that’s what it really is; it is indeed extremely totalitarian and authoritarian. It is not “communism” because the people in charge of this Great Reset do not advocate for sharing their wealth with the poor. Instead, they want to strip middle and working-class people of their wealth and power in order to complete their absolute takeover of all the world’s resources.

Censorship has been around since forever, and dissident political movements have always found ways around it. Revolutionaries like Marx, Lenin, Gramsci et al. wrote much in language that was surprisingly mild simply to get around the censor. Gramsci is a good example, and has cache among bourgeois academics, and even among the higher echelons of the British Civil Service, precisely because he wrote much of his seminal material whilst imprisoned by Mussolini. His Prison Notebooks, where he was forced to write more about sociology and only very obliquely about politics, are suffused with language that was quite inoffensively academic. One positive of Gramsci’s imprisonment perhaps was that he developed his concept of cultural hegemony, yet the content of the ideas he conveyed was no less subversive than if they were written more forcefully to agitate or propagandise the working class.

Mussolini’s censors really couldn’t object to Gramsci’s prison notebooks because they were so skillfully subversive but viewed by the censor as beyond the ken of the working class and therefore not subversive. It’s most likely the censors also could little understand what they were reading, and concluded that working class readers would be similarly befuddled. Lenin’s “The Development of Capitalism in Russia”, published in 1899 under the watchful eye of the Tsarist censor, similarly was written over 3-4 years under conditions of imprisonment (and exile), and (quite rightly) was considered to be too esoteric and technical to cause any social unrest.

Of course none of can ever be accepted and all hell needs to be unleashed on the today’s swine attempting to muzzle free speech and free reach. As a start, class actions need to be launched against Youtube and/or the government for depriving people of income and livelihood based on what they’ve said or reported. But the censorship won’t be defeated any time soon either, and ways and means will be devised to get around it. As they always have been.

  24. Being aware of the actual events happening in the world (Thank you, Caitlin!! Glenn Greenwald!! Aaron Mate!! Jimmy Dore! James Kunstler! Ryan Cristian!, etc….) is a challenging weight to bear. I no longer have friends nor family in the US whom I can talk with. (I left the U$$A 10 years ago) It is as if the Blue Pill was happily chosen and taken by all. For those of us choosing to see and to understand what is happening, our mental health is all that we have left. Everyone, please, take very good care of yourselves.

  25. What isnt being fully illustrated is that decades of regulatory capture do not inspire confidence and trust in the sound judgement the state is now presuming for itself as if we were all born yesterday. Quite the opposite. This is why the implied power grab is very disconcerting and many of the double standards being implemented at policy levels are absolutely not partisan issues despite the blatant attempts of smearing and gaslighting non believers in the official dogma as a form of narrative control.
The machiavellian twist is the corporate elite turning the center left against itself by performative incorporation of diversity optics and where one could imagine outrage in the occupy- wikileaks era only 10 years ago. Meanwhile the carnage has been running full speed ahead, inequality continues to skyrocket, and many people are in a delirious trance from binge watching of wrestlemania style cable news outrage politics as if anything actually important is still being decided by the buffoons cloaked in the decorum of this rotting empire, or we have any say in the voting booth beyond city council.

  26. I’m about a third of the way through Shoshana Zuboff’s amazing book – “The Age Of Surveillance Capitalism” – and I can’t recommend it enough.

  27. What they DO tell us is far less of a threat to our children’s future than what they DO NOT tell us.

  28. “It is the absolute right of the State to supervise the formation of public opinion.”

It does seem that all dictatorships/regimes converge on a certain tonality in their communications.
This is one of my all-time favorites!
(It is also a reason I tell anyone who will listen go get a short wave radio. There is the range – but there is also the lack of from/to packet addresses that must exasperate the Tonton Mécoutes all over the world.)

You have to meditate the story of the optimist who falls from the tenth floor and as he passes each floor people hear him say: “So far so good” :o)

I hear you. As much as I try to just live my life and ignore the insanity (for decades now), it’s getting a lot more difficult. When the vast majority of the populace has drunk the Kool Aid and is oblivious to the lies, in fact embraces the lies, it’s hard to be anything but grim.

Nonetheless, it’s up to all of us to fight back against the insanity, no matter how daunting the odds.
