Listen to a reading of this article:

One of the weirdest things about the mass media propaganda which manipulates the way people think, act and vote to maintain the status quo is the fact that mainstream news outlets routinely cite the employees of think tanks that are sponsored by war profiteers and government powers as expert sources for their reports. And they just get away with it.

To pick one of nearly infinite possible examples, here in Australia the Murdoch press are currently citing a report generated through the funding of governments and weapons manufacturers to whip up public hysteria about the ridiculous fantasy that China might attack us. The most egregious of these is a write-up from Sky News whose headline reads, “Lowy Institute report: China possesses ability to ‘strike Australia’ with long-range missiles, bombers“.

On social media Sky News is sharing this story with the even more incendiary caption “China now has the military arsenal to pose the greatest threat to the Australian mainland since World War II, experts warn.”

The “experts” in question are the Lowy Institute, named after its billionaire founder, which is funded by multiple branches of the Australian government including ASIO and the Department of Defence, by major financial institutions, and by weapons manufacturers like Boeing. The author of the Lowy Institute report these stories are citing is Thomas Shugart, himself an employee of the notorious Center for a New American Security, a Biden administration-aligned warmongering think tank that receives funding from top war profiteers Boeing, General Dynamics, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, and Raytheon, as well as the US State Department and numerous other governments.

So in summary, government agencies and war profiteers paid for a report which manufactures consent for their agendas among policymakers and the public, and mass media institutions passed this off as “news”.

And this is exactly what these think tanks exist to do: cook up narratives which benefit their immensely powerful and unfathomably psychopathic sponsors, and insert those narratives at key points of influence.

“Think tank” is a good and accurate label, not because a great deal of thought happens in them, but because they’re dedicated to controlling what people think, and because they are artificial enclosures for slimy creatures. Their job, generally speaking, is to concoct and market reasons why it would be good and smart to do something evil and stupid.

And it works. Because of the efforts of warmonger-funded think tanks like the Lowy Institute, Center for a New American Security, and the profoundly odious Australian Strategic Policy Institute (ASPI), more and more Australian brains are being turned into soup by ridiculous propaganda narratives about China posing a meaningful threat to them. As The Conversation highlighted last month, a poll conducted by that same Lowy Institute claims that “only 16% of surveyed Australians [express] trust in China compared with 52% just three years ago,” that a “similar number of Australians think China will launch an armed attack on Australia (42%) as on Taiwan (49%),” and that “more Australians (13%) than Taiwanese (4%) think a Chinese invasion of Taiwan is likely sometime soon.”

You can understand why the Lowy Institute would want to show off numbers like that to potential sponsors, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they are entirely accurate; I’ve started conversations with complete strangers here in Victoria recently and seen them start babbling about how awful China is within a few minutes, completely out of the blue. It’s like watching a zombie outbreak in real time.

And this is of course entirely by design. Because of its useful geostrategic location in relation to China, Australia has been turned into a functional US military/intelligence asset so crucial that multiple coups have been instituted here to ensure we remain aligned with the Pentagon against Beijing. You can’t have the locals meddling with the gears of your war machine with pesky little nuisances like the democratic process, so you’ve got to keep them aggressively propagandized.

This is why our consciousness is continually pummelled with think tank-manufactured narratives about China. See an attention-grabbing headline about the big scary Chinese boogeyman and it will almost always be authored by a sleazy think tank denizen or be based on the work of one. A few weeks ago 60 Minutes Australia ran an unbelievably hysterical segment branding New Zealand “New Xi-Land” because its government didn’t perfectly align with Washington on one particular aspect of its cold war agenda, and it featured an interview with an Australian Strategic Policy Institute spinmeister as well as the actual ASPI office.

The Australian Strategic Policy Institute is cited by mass media outlets around the world and is funded by, you guessed it, governments and war profiteers. According to APAC News’ Marcus Reubenstein, ASPI is funded by all the usual weapons manufacturers, by the US State Department and other governments.

“ASPI has received funding from the governments of Britain, Japan and Taiwan as well as NATO,” Reubenstein writes. “Among its corporate supporters are global weapons makers ThalesBAE SystemsRaytheonSAABNorthrop GrummanMDBA Missile Systems and Naval Group. Yet their contribution of over $330,000 last year is dwarfed by that of a handful of government departments and agencies.”

Media citation of warmonger-funded think tanks is common throughout the western world. Government-sponsored imperialist spin factories like Bellingcat are routinely cited by the mainstream media, and those citations are leant credibility by the fawning puff pieces which those media institutions regularly churn out about the propaganda firm.

I just grabbed a New York Times article at random about the events transpiring in Afghanistan and found its author citing the chief executive of the Center for a New American Security arguing against the Biden administration’s troop withdrawal, as well as a Center for American Progress employee arguing that the Taliban takeover could cause a PR nightmare. Center for American Progress is also partly funded by the war industry.

The fact that disguising statements by propagandists who are sponsored by governments and war profiteers is journalistic malpractice should be obvious to everyone in the world, and if media and education systems were doing their jobs instead of indoctrinating society into accepting the status quo, it would be. But propaganda only works if you don’t realize you’re being propagandized, and keeping people from realizing this is itself a part of the propaganda.

Make a fortune killing people and selling their bodies and you’d be remembered as the century’s worst monster. Make the same fortune selling the weapons used to kill the same number of people in wars you propagandized into existence and you’re a respected job creator.

Absolutely appalling.

  1. …..one more note…how hypocritical of a people who supposedly value human rights name sports teams, military weapons, cars/suv’s, even the absurd notion of naming beer /alcohol after them….can’t forget the mocking through using mascots in sports events…in spite of it all….be well be kind….

    1. Be well and be kind is a nice thing to type.
      ~
Doing it and typing it ain’t the same thing, but I appreciate the sentiment nonetheless.
      ~
Now, here are the presidents of US of A who have been assassinated:
      1. Lincoln – 1865
      2. Garfield – 1881
      3. McKinley – 1901
      4. Kennedy – 1963
      ~
So if you look at the statistics of it all, out of 46 presidents so far, 4 have been killed on the job. If you take a tighter look at the numbers, starting from Lincoln’s time, 4 out of 30 or thereabouts have been killed. Seems like that is a high-risk job.
      ~
Who the hell would accept a job when your chances of being blown away are more than 1 in 10 based on recent history?
      ~
Moreover, what does that tell you about the state of affairs? Seems to me something is amiss, and seems to me it is all coming to a head just now. Truth has a way of expressing itself.
      ~
I’ve got two children who mean the world to me, and if you put them out there in the discussion, then let me just say to you, that you have now escalated to the point of no return.
      ~
      May the best ideas win.
      Ken

      1. ….from my own personal life experience, it is the same thing, ……i don’t know what “escalation” means, but you’ve heard the last of me…..go confuse yourself….be well, be kind…..

        1. Come on Brian.
You must see the contradiction when you say on the one-hand
          ….”go confuse yourself”…..
and then on the other hand,
          your right one I reckon,
          you say:
          …..”be well, be kind…..”
          ~
Seems like your right hand and your left hand ain’t really communicating, cause as a scientist of logic, I’d say you are contradicting yourself.
          ~
Funny thing is my message prior to yours was not intended to be derogatory in any way towards you – I appreciate much of what you say. But it seems you felt perhaps I needed to confuse myself?
          ~
          I just don’t understand that.
Oh well, it makes no difference now.
However, I suspect you may not have children of your own, and I don’t want to know…..it is just I say that in regards to your sentiment that you don’t understand what “escalation” means. Cause if you had kids, I think you might understand, and maybe you do, but still, if so, escalation is when the tension rises typically, in the most simple way, when one force is one side and another on the other. That’s why it makes no sense to me what you say.
          ~
Anyhow, I’m allowed to mention my own kids and we all ought be proud of our kids, I sure know that I am, but if somebody else brings them up in the conversation, than that seriously gets my attention.
          ~
Be good Brian if you can, and I’ll try to do likewise.
          Peace,
          Ken

  2. Day 3 of no comments. So here is the challenge I put out for those with time on their hands. That includes even you oz, my latest nemesis ~*~ha, ha not ha ha not ha.
    ~
Lets see how long no comments are allowed and then lets see what the read count is on the articles assuming one can trust that, which I don’t.
    ~
My bet is that it will diminish over time.
    ~
So, while it is the prerogative of the host to accept no comments, it is a choice full of fraught. But maybe, it is just a blip, and maybe not.
    ~
    Time will tell.
The facts are seriously rolling in now and so my suggestion is “get with the game”. Change, rapid flux, over the top exponential flux, is rolling in.
    ~
    Peace is easy,
    BK

  3. This is indeed unfortunate. I just thought there was some bug affecting your server or my computer. Only fortuitously came here today to compare the comments to this article with those appearing on the Consortium News incarnation of it. I definitely think that the comments attract a lot more visitors to this site, especially all the return visitors engaging in conversation or arguments, and more “hits” more revenues, no?
    ~
Well, if this is my “swan song” here, let me just say that I’ve really appreciated the input of several particular people over the years. I forget too many names just because I’m getting old, so this is by no means comprehensive, but I’ll especially miss the contributions of our resident Marxist Carolyn Zaremba, even though I am not a Marxist. Gregory Herr was always a mainstay of extremely well-reasoned logic, as was Skip Scott who brought the perspective of a seafaring man isolated from much of the bruhaha he analysed. Sometimes I wish I could observe and judge my fellow humans (and their unending folly) as might a Martian or some other species of space alien without the usual perceived or unperceived tribal biases of human beings. Of course, there is the sine quo non, Caitlin herself. You are 100% right about most of the things you say here. Fortunately, we all get to continue receiving her edifying input in down to earth tones. Keep telling it like it is, babe.
    ~
Don’t worry if I didn’t give you a shout out, maybe I’ll see you in the funny papers under another pseudonym. I’ll always be the “Realist”–except on Unz, that’s a different guy.

    1. Talking of Unz, he admitted in an interview that COVID might be real and vaccines might be useful – and got a thousand angry denunciations. This was the final straw for The Saker, who’d been despairing of his own non-stop deluge of nanobots, graphene oxide, magnets, hydrogel, fetuses, 5G, alien sperm, bioweapon, totally harmless, and guaranteed to kill 90% of us on the third new moon in 2025, on any article on any topic, so he’s disabling his comments cafe or something. He wrote quite a rant about it.

      1. Yes, I read the responses of both those gentlemen. They, like Caitlin, have a legitimate complaint when there is an army of people out there ready to condemn you, not for what you said, but for failing to either condemn all Jews, call covid a hoax, or lambast the “chi-coms,” (among other favorites) whether they were the topic of the essay or not. They want a comprehensive treatise assailing every one of their specific grievances or you are a sell-out to the forces of evil.
        ~
I appreciated how Caitlin occasionally mixed it up with her critics on her own forum. Most bloggers do not have the fortitude to do that. (Why alienate the readership, especially if you are paid per number of clicks?) Some, like Paul Craig Roberts, do not allow any discussion, on their own site or on any other that reproduces their work.

  4. Both the Goodies and the Baddies share the same bottom line which is censorship and a fear or loathing of free speech. If free speech is disallowed the thinking behind any toxic thoughts is allowed to flourish underground. The opposition, i.e., the oligarch’s narrative, is determined not to allow a contrary thought anywhere nears its agenda on their websites and media channels. I believe toxic thoughts should be challenged and destroyed by logical thought backed by evidence. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed, shared and applauded your work. My point is that at the bottom line you share the same trait as the enemy vis-à-vis censorship. Yes it’s your website and you can do what you want (up to a point!) but that’s also the position of Twitter, FB, blah blah, but, I suppose, we’re all human destined to be at war forever and that’s the biggest shame.

    1. If you can’t tell the difference between blocking doofy antisemites on your personal blog and government-tied monopolistic megacorporations controlling political speech at mass scale, you don’t understand the issue.

      1. I’m heavily on your side. It is, however, the principle of free speech that’s at stake. For me, Voltaire/Hall had it about right with “I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it”. I think the breakthrough (if it’s coming) will come from the peoples side & not the oligarch megalomaniacs. I openly advocate for Peoples’ Congresses where all can have their say and collectively decide on the future they want but that’s Full Participatory Democracy which is a far cry from the infernal representational democracy that we’re currently saddled with. In case you need to check out what Peoples’ Congresses did for a land that was previously racked by tribal warfare and a corrupt government/monarchy, then the state of Libya should be examined before the psychos of the west bombed it to the Stone Age and open air slave markets. http://openanthropology.org/libya/gaddafi-green-book.pdf

          1. What a truly hideous state of affairs now in Libya while the smug psychos watch over the agonised steps towards the truly dreadful representational ‘democracy’ they insist Libya must have! All the more dreadful since these psychos we gave power to have now destroyed the best operational & fully undiluted democracy that was already in place out there going great guns.

          1. There is sunshine in the link you supplied. It clarifies Zionism and resonates with me. I’ve been supportive of the Neturei Karta group [nkusa.org] for a while now. Zionists are not comprised exclusively of Jews. Indeed, our very own Boris Johnson creature (who recently married in a Catholic cathedral) & Sir Keir Rodney Starmer KCB QC both admit to being [ardent] Zionists.

      2. Do you now the difference between Jews and Zionists? Antisemite has come to mean anyone that criticizes Israel, regardless of what Israel does to Palestine. The Jewish Voice for Peace, to which I subscribe, supports Palestine’s right to exist, and are appalled at the behavior of Israel.

        It’s totally right. I don’t support antisemites.

  5. ….how sad indeed that the doors and windows have to be shut…..i’ve learned a lot from your articles caitlin, as well as those voices in the comments…..such is the way of attempts at seeing what is fundamentally wrong and seeking the right direction……egos, self righteousness, dogmas of “individualism” combined with dogmas of”choice”, seem to cloud and pollute our capacity to be rational, compassionate, and considerate…..be well, be kind…..

    1. ……a slight detour….semitic peoples are all who live in the middle east and share languages with small and large differences….that goes for cultures too……the borders and geographical locations are of little meaning because of colonization, land grabs, and foreign imperialism…and yes the semites have been and are doing the same as well….

      1. But anti-Semite has a much more restricted meaning.
        .
Theory, action, or practice directed against the Jews. Hence anti-Semite, one who is hostile or opposed to the Jews; anti-Semitic a.

        1. ….ward churchill made a very important point in his book”a little matter of genocide”, about how leading
jewish scholars have put the genocide of the european jews in a”unique” perspective ….today the word holocaust invokes that horrible past…ignoring the 2 century’s of holocaust towards native americans…. and Hollywood did the rest…rounding people up and sending them to their deaths in industrialized manner is no different than slaughtering them over the long term to do a land grab…..and now the descends of those who were victims of the jewish holocaust have been doing the same…the judeo/christian narrative, so firmly entrenched in amerikkkan society, justifies it…hence the stalling (peace) process….genocide anywhere toward anyone, and the promotion of it through bigotry, racism, and political propaganda is just another step towards the end of the world we’ve created and have come to know……be well, be kind…….

  6. All of what you say is true in “You Need To Understand That The US Is The Most Tyrannical Regime On Earth.” What I see, however, is that the United States is a hollowed out nation and China, which is the manufacturing hub of the world, is the rising star.
    []
Us Americana didn’t get any accountability for 9/11, we were infiltrated, called conspiracy theorists, some of us jailed, some of us ridiculed on national television even though we were among the top in our respective fields. Many of us put a decade of our lives into attempting to get accountability for 9/11, but found that those that should have been supporting us fell victim to government propaganda. And though we had some of the best psychologists on our side, we couldn’t get people to see through the propaganda.
    []
What did you do to get accountability for 9/11. 9/11 has justified all the atrocities committed by the United States since and still we don’t have accountability and the atrocities go on.
    []
Some have said that if we could at long last get accountability for 9/11 that the entire future that proceeded from 9/11 would collapse and we would be able to begin to stitch the world back together.
    []
Do you have any positive suggestion about how we correct the history on 9/11?
    []
Now we have Covid-19 and medical professionals are now being called conspiracy theorists. So the parade goes on and no one seems to know how to stop it.
    []
    Any suggestions???

  7. No doubt many “think tanks” have some weird ducks in them with strange ideas. Unfortunately, many government policies come from them and the Council on Foreign Relations. They are indeed a big part of the ruling class in this country. The hard-working American citizen just doesn’t have the time to think up stupid shite because it would be detrimental to his life. The whole thing is out of control and probably we cannot salvage what’s left of our country.

    1. Yep. I agree.
      Time for something better.
      BK
      ~
So if you give it some consideration, we might just have to salvage that which has always been here in the first place. That could be easy you know….really – it could be easy.

  8. Uh….I could be proven wrong, but I believe the first of the many tsunamis just hit the shore and Ian was a causality.
    ~
Since the posting here is coming to an end, let me be as mean as I could possibly be in this effed up year of 2021 when the unvaccinated have turned into Jews in the minds of some.
    ~
I have gone on record disassociating Zionism with Judaism, and there is no mystery in any of that. The Zionist are zealots and Judaism is a religion that deserves respect and I respect it. Nonetheless, shaming and intimidating others who are different than you seems like it ought to have been a lesson already learned. But apparently there are a few who think they are gonna push their sentiment to the end, and the beauty I realize now is, they will only be ending themselves. The rest of us will get on with the business of working together.
    ~
It is not gonna stop unless we make it stop as the lady says on the video I’m still listening too and I agree with her. The vaccine “campaign” needs to stop. I’m on her side.
    ~
    Peace,
    BK

    1. I’m not sure what you’re getting at with “Ian was a causality,” but I have pointed out that a comment contained blatantly Nazi propaganda, and another genocidal anti-Semitism (I use those words very advisedly), and in both cases they disappeared soon after.

What disgusts and alarms me is that nobody else picked up on them. On one of those occasions, around fifteen commenters jumped on someone who said ‘I think the Israel-Palestine issue is more complicated’, some very irately, yet fourteen hadn’t a word to say about this absolute filth. But perhaps I’m misjudging, I noticed them before anyone else, and I didn’t see a lot of other filth like it because someone else drew Caitlin’s attention to it before I could.

  9. If you do not want More Of The Same, do not vote for another R or D, ever, no matter what an R or D promises!

  10. For all the commenters upset about the loss of this forum, I expect sites such as Information Clearing House will continue to repost many of Caitlin’s articles, and their comments are less moderated than here.
Perhaps anyone knowing of similar sites would like to mention them? (Consortium News often reposts, but all comments automatically wait for approval, which in many ways is no bad thing.)

    1. Ian – what are you saying?

      2. I’m asking if anyone knows of other sites that republish Caitlin’s work and allow comments. And yes, I know it won’t be the same.

        1. Then don’t make it like accepting the possibility of no comments going forward is something that ought be accepted.
          ~
          Can you understand this Ian?

          1. Oh, if you can’t accept it your chances are diminished. Honestly, to find fault with “acceptance” seems exceptional. I can accept that.

        2. Plus Ian – the data is in.
          ~
I expect you do demonstrate whether you are a real scientist or whether you are a schill.

        3. I post all my articles on Substack and Medium whenever I post them here. Comments are allowed on both those forums. I only have the Nazi problem here on this site.

          1. For a website running about 4 years on the internet, this blog has a strong page rank authority on google. I’m not sure why but Ian and others can be related to spam issues.

If you are so addicted to the narrative, then it must suggest that your mind has been closed. I wonder why the minds of so many have closed, and I think I know, but nonetheless, the facts speak for themselves.

  12. this is a great blog with excellent content, and I will continue to read, too bad some have ruined the comments section.

    1. Oh gracious, since I can still comment, I will.

This is all a function of ignominy and ignominy has gone exponential but it is all full of shame and it will implode upon itself. After that, let the dust settle, let new parties form, and let ideas that resonate take hold. Wake up to that maybe…..maybe, maybe not. Uncertainty is part of life and if we can’t figure that out, then what is the purpose of our big brain?

      2. that’s what i mean by ‘ruined” if we can’t comment the comment section is ruined, and the bots have ruined it for us. i think the host is probably overwhelmed by the demands of dealing with bots all the time, now you will have to excuse me I have to go delete the 20 unwanted emails and blocked phone calls that have come in in the last hour.

it is annoying personally because google for reasons it wont tell me blocked me from commenting on youtube, possibly because i frequent sites it doesn’t approve of like this one.

  13. I will miss reading the comments. The variety of views was interesting. Even the lunatics.

    1. what happened? I just noticed comments weren’t open on several articles.

    2. Hi BB Be.
If you don’t mind, while we still have a moment.
Can you name specifically all of the lunatics?

Propaganda isn’t working anymore. I thank my Lord for that and I have hope in the human spirit, both individually and collectively. You can’t have one without the other now can ya?
    ~
The experiment, the propaganda effort by the few, was taken to its logical extreme and it has failed miserably. It is obvious now.
    ~
For that I am very happy and I thank the host here for all the lessons learned and I thank everybody here for their comments – the comments are what make it fun….at least for me. Plus, I learned as much if not more from the comments. I hope everyone hangs tight and I send out a special acknowledgement to Herr Gregory Herr and the NYDick and Victor! Ha, ha. It has been an honor. Plus, I apologize if I forget to mention you, but I appreciate everyone’s effort to share their views and ideas.

    ~
    p.s. – talk to you later……

    1. I dunno, the propaganda from MSNBC and FOX seems like it works pretty well in the U.S. still.

    2. Tucker Carson continues to impress me favorably. This is something that comes as a surprise to me, cause no way I would ever give fox news the time of day, but I take the facts as they come in and I admit when I make mistakes and sometimes I change my mind.
      ~
The facts are accumulating big time and I swear somebody is fixing to get rolled over at any moment……plus, the best part is, they deserve what they are fixing to get.
      ~
Really. You get what you give.

  15. Whether online, in television news, or in newspapers, I assume that 90% of local news is propaganda. When it comes to national and international, until I can prove otherwise satisfactorily to myself, I assume that 100% is propaganda and/or outright lies.
When I see blaring references to wars, danger, terrorism and so much more, I always investigate the organization and its intended motives and goals and/or the type of business or industry of which it is a part. When that fails, I investigate the individuals – their statements, their titles, their history and so on. I’d estimate that in 1% of the cases, I’m convinced that they are worthwhile. For 95 %, I realize that my initial suspicion was 100% correct and in the remaining 4%, I disregard what they say, because I am unable to make a determination. Obviously, there are many people, companies and organizations that, once determined to be full of shit, will never need to be researched again.
All-in-all, I remain skeptical about virtually everything. A name like ‘The Lowy Institute’ is one that I’d investigate fully, since I’d never before run across it. Realistically, however, I’d be skeptical of reports of Chinese aggression against other large countries simply because, as in the case of Australia, an attack by China, via missiles and the like, would almost certainly be successful should China have sufficient weaponry and know how to start such an attack. I am convinced that, were China a threat to anyone, it would never begin such an attack if its leadership felt that there were any chance of failure. I sincerely wish that I could say the same of the U.S. and its many psychopaths and maniacs at the top.
Furthermore, let’s look at which country would be the greatest danger to any other that is not in 100% lockstep with it. The U.S. has over 1000 military installations around the globe; Russia has about 10 and China has even fewer than Russia. Seems to me that, had the incursion on January 6th been better planned, the risk to America would have been far greater from within than from either Russia or China.

People and organizations in the article that are obvious, by their names, as to their warlike intent would be Center For New American Security, Center for American Progress, Biden, all of the global weapons makers in this article, Murdoch Press, Thomas Shugart, Lowy Institute, Sky News(where else would the bombs and missiles be coming from but from the sky, so there’s nothing misleading about its name), 60-Minutes anywhere (because there’s so little worthwhile in it any longer that ti’s not worth watching all the garbage and propaganda to find the once/month decent story), not to mention (of course) other countries and the biggest bullshit artist of all, the one responsible for all the craziness, the U.S. government – and the psychopaths that have created it.

Still let’s not let the people of the U.S. and Australia, or any other country, off the hook for believing all the noise. In the end, the vast majority are so concerned with their own insignificant lives that they either ignore everything important or hide from it. Further, they are trained to dislike and disbelieve the activists who know the truths – and the training works because, no matter how much we know, we are, after all, less than 1% of the entire population of any country. More than anything, it is that ratio that requires and demands reversal.

  16. Vile comments and spam are the bane of every blog. Many of the comments you delete may be generated by bots funded by intelligence services that target alternative narrative sites to discredit the author and the site. IMHO, you can’t let those bastards win. And while you’ve probably already considered all the technical and procedural methods of eliminating and reducing spam and bot attacks, they may still be worth mentioning:
    – Create a careful blacklist of words and terms. (Using this requires a human review of all flagged comments because good commenters can be caught in this wide net. But this may require less time than using your time to review every comment.) If you are already hosting your site on a WordPress server, use any of their numerous anti-spam/bot plugins. reCAPTCHA is good, but not enough–sophisticated bots and human scum can defeat it.
    – Require membership registration. This could be simple and free and minimally invasive to personal privacy, while creating just enough of a hurdle to prevent most (not all) spam/bots. And while many of us chafe at the idea of registration, it is increasingly becoming one of the necessary evils for online publishing. (Just do no evil with our data.)
    – Consider giving permission to some volunteers to moderate comments.
    – Host your site on substack.com (or similar). Join Glenn Greenwalk, Matt Taibbi, and Tessa Lena.
    – Move your comments to a service like Disqus. (Because of privacy concerns, this should be a last resort.)

None of these are perfect solutions, and they all come with negative side-effects to commenter privacy. If there are additional costs to solve this problem—and there probably will be—let us know. We’re in this together.

    1. I’ve tried most of those and all my articles go on Substack the same time they go on here. They’re also on Medium. This site is the only place I have this problem.

  17. Optimism about the future of this orbiting madhouse is misguided.

    1. To put it simply – that is an opinion.
      ~
      I disagree.

    2. Merely a misguided opinion.

  18. I am saddened to see the end of Caitlin’s dedication to providing an arena for free speech. If that’s we’re seeing here? For what it’s worth I, for one, really appreciated her stand on providing a forum for dissent, in an ocean of censorship.
    `
Her anger with anti semites is understandable. Hate speech and threats have no place on any forums, but many sites do a very good job (often, too good) of moderating their comments and banning people. It’s a huge headache, I suppose.
    `
The fact is, we have no idea who is behind the anti-semitic comments (among others.) They could easily be operatives intentionally trying to shut down comment sections of leftist websites.
    `
How many sites have they been successful at either shutting down comments or closing the site completely?
    `
Looks they really do have total control of the internet. It is a shame to see them win. Again.
    `
Thanks for all your work, Caitlin! Hope this works out for you.

    1. In concurrence Shocker. Perhaps it will just be a blip until the “dust” settles down a bit.

    1. Yeah I’ve been banning them for years, IP bans and everything. They still keep coming. I don’t know if they all agreed that this was their hangout on some message board or what, but it’s been too damn much work for way too long.

      1. Here is an idea from somebody who probably doesn’t know what he is talking about, but there is no harm in the idea (I don’t think), so why not.
        ~
How about commenters get a few “free” comments so-to-speak to indicate their sentiment without any restrictions. After a few freebies, then they are either issued a password to comment further in the future or they ain’t.
        ~
Of course, somebody or something would be issuing the password, and that could be a hassle, but maybe not that big of a deal.
        ~
Then, everybody would know the rules and would have a sense as to who is posting at any given moment.
        ~
Per the discretion of the host, passwords obviously could be rescinded and of course amnesty could be offered as desired.
        ~
I suspect there is a way to implement something of this nature, and I’m glad to see the comments here. For me, the comments are just as important as the article, but obviously the two go together.
        ~
Regardless, I’ll keep reading what you are typing and you know I especially have appreciated the artistic pieces with the watercolors I’m pretty sure. Lots of talent there and I’ll contribute again is what I’m thinking now.

First though, and my top priority going forward, is I have some plants I plan on growing and I’m going to get some serious permaculture action going on my little plot of land that just happens to be adjacent to a Farmers Market being constructed as I type this. I’ll be able to walk the goods down there once it is finally built. Now that is a dream! Especially since my Daughter #1 is getting her masters in horticulture! Life is good.

        1. When David Brock, Mark Penn, Rick Berman and detestable slime from CAP & Atlantic Council were trolling US lefty blog-aggregators for Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s Bernie takedown; it was cool to see how Koch, Bloomberg, Bezos & scary K Street “Energy In Depth,” Canary Mission” or “Genetics Literacy” trolls couldn’t be bothered to change between their avatars/ tags for the ¢37/ post, Kos’ one troll reported. An awful lot GREAT journalists, brave whistleblowers & astute commentariat were gone, before Bezos’ PropR’Not tried to silence nascent truth? 1. Yeah I suspect that will be a common sentiment.

          1. Well I reckon it all depends on who you are trying to appeal to. To whom you send your appeal.
            ~
Better to have comments if you want to know the sentiment of those to whom you are trying to appeal.
            ~
So, if the comments are too much for you, then that is your choice obviously. I refuse to be a second class citizen and those of you in Australia would be well advised to wake up to the tyranny who puts the military out in the streets for the sake of the virus of fear.

Until they are SHUT DOWN of course.

  24. (((They))) have a lot of money for psy-ops and front orgs (e.g. “NGOs”) – and the proliferation is so great that I wish more alt-writers would begin using spreadsheets/databases — it’s that bad. This would make it easier than picking bad guys out of huge clouds of prose – once one understands what they are up against – and make it easier for others to assemble larger and larger sources for quick reference – when one must decode various prose offerings ‘in the wild’ of the WWW.

    1. Okay so I forget to turn off comments on this one article and immediately there’s some shitstain posting triple brackets antisemitism signaling bullshit on it. If anyone’s upset that you won’t be able to comment on articles on my website in the future, blame assholes like Alex, because they’re the reason why. I cannot begin to tell you all how infuriating it is to work hard putting out a high-quality article only to have some fuckhead smear their disgusting bigoted shit all over it, and I’m just not going to do people do that to me and my work anymore. I don’t know why you cunts decided my site was a great location for your Nazi bullshit, but you’re done. No more. Because you ruined my comments section, nobody gets to have a comments section. I do NOT have time to police this shit, and fuck me if I’m going to let you pricks make me look like a fucking Nazi.

      1. Keep calm and carry on Caitlin.
You’ve just gotta walk around DOGSHIT.

        1. The dogs can shit somewhere else now.

          1. The comments sections of other websites, such as Mintpress and ICH, are often crawling with outright or semi-covert anti-Semites, especially on articles relating to Israel. What I find most depressing is just how few commenters call them out, as if most think Nazis are welcome, or at least acceptable, allies.

          2. Caitlin, life will be WORSE without your comments section. can’t you just IGNORE the bastards? I understand about the ‘too much work’ problem.

            1. No I can’t just ignore my website turning into a hangout for antisemites and racists, and you may be sure my detractors wouldn’t ignore it either.

          3. Clarification on your “You Can Never Do Everything, But You Can Always Do Something” post: Chris Hedges borrowed the “fight fascist…” quotation from Jean-Paul Sartre.

Posting this comment on a dog shit thread is not ideal; however, space for speech is shrinking. Perhaps Sartre’s “Hell is other people” would be more suitable.

      2. I wondered what you were talking about, as I’d assumed ‘they’ meant think tanks, the elites, capital, the Empire, or something like that, with triple brackets thrown in for some weird reason, but you prompted me to google the reason …

      3. This means they won, and your whole supportive community lost.

        1. I agree and I disagree at the same time with this.
          ~
I appreciate what you express cause I suspect their is some truth to it.

  25. There is a blackout on any conversation about how Ivermectin beat COVID-19 in India. When I discussed the dire straits that India found itself in early this year with 414,000 cases per day, and over 4,000 deaths per day, and how that evaporated within five weeks of the addition of Ivermectin, I am often asked, “But why is there no mention of that in the news?”…
Just as Galileo proved with his telescope that the earth was NOT the center of the Universe in 1616; today, the data from India shows that Ivermectin is effective, much more so than the vaccines. It not only prevents death, but it also prevents COVID infections, and it also is effective against the Delta Variant…
Likewise, the massive drop in cases and deaths in India to almost nothing after the addition of Ivermectin proved the drug’s effectiveness. This is a truth that the NIH, CDC, and FDA cannot allow because it would endanger the vaccine policy…
Let us look at the burgundy-colored graph of Uttar Pradesh. First, allow me to thank Juan Chamie, a highly-respected Cambridge-based data analyst, who created this graph from the JHU CSSE data. Uttar Pradesh is a state in India that contains 241 million people. The United States’ population is 331 million people. Therefore, Uttar Pradesh can be compared to the United States, with 2/3 of our population size.
This data shows how Ivermectin knocked their COVID-19 cases and deaths – which we know were Delta Variant – down to almost zero within weeks. A population comparable to the US went from about 35,000 cases and 350 deaths per day to nearly ZERO within weeks of adding Ivermectin to their protocol.
By comparison, the United States is the lower graph. On August 5, here in the good ol’ USA, blessed with the glorious vaccines, we have 127,108 new cases per day and 574 new deaths.
Let us look at the August 5 numbers from Uttar Pradesh with 2/3 of our population. Uttar Pradesh, using Ivermectin, had a total of 26 new cases and exactly THREE deaths. The US without Ivermectin has precisely 4889 times as many daily cases and 191 times as many deaths as Uttar Pradesh with Ivermectin…
Tamil Nadu continues to suffer for its choice to reject Ivermectin. As a result, the Delta variant continues to ravage their citizens while it was virtually wiped out in the Ivermectin-using states. Likewise, in the United States, without Ivermectin, both the vaccinated and unvaccinated continue to spread the Delta variant like wildfire.
    https://www.thedesertreview.com/opinion/columnists/indias-ivermectin-blackout/article_e3db8f46-f942-11eb-9eea-77d5e2519364.html

    1. Thank you for providing this. The more information like this us masses can read to get informed, the less propaganda can affect us.

    2. Great link to how the effectiveness of Ivermectin is being suppressed across the board. It makes utter sense. The CDC & Fauci & pals only have patents on sars/covid & mRNA “vaccines”. So BigPharma is heavily invested in repeat business from the Delta shedding from 2nd shots. But Ivermectin works, is a generic anti viral, with 4 billion doses already dispensed by WHO for River Blindness. Seemingly it blocks 2 proteins uptaking the virus through a back door….go figure! Cheap, effective, nil Trillion dollar payoff!!! Uh oh…here come de train…

      1. It is not genetic, it blocks SARS-CoV-2 from entering the cells. Use of Zinc, Vitamnins, C, D, B-12 also help.

    3. John Day – oh man, too bad you didn’t post this yesterday.
It would have been Point #7 in my debate with Daughter #1.
      ~
You would think if there is inexpensive treatment and it really seems to work, and there is minimal harm in it, that this would be world-wide news?
      ~
Oh well, just proves my previous judgement: “The world has gone bat-shit crazy”.
      ~
By the way, did you read what that “WHO” fella apparently indicated just today……he was like……ooops, a technician in the bat-cave might of been the one who started this whole novel virus thing…….seems fishy to me, but what I did appreciate is that he also seemed to repudiate something supposed definitive determinations made by a group of “scientist” – gracious me, they are scientist, so they must be unbiased? Mustn’t they be? I reckon they ain’t and the fact are rolling in……..closer to the shore.
      ~
Best to you John Day – if I needed a doctor, I’d go to you.
      Peace,
      Ken

      1. Dexamethasone is inexpensive and really seems to work, with side effects that are, however, fairly well known and understood. It made world-wide headlines in the medical and popular scientific press, even if one commenter here, who was going on about cheap treatments being suppressed, claimed never to have heard of it.
        https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-020-01824-5
“Coronavirus breakthrough: dexamethasone is first drug shown to save lives
In a large trial, a cheap and widely available steroid cut deaths by one-third among patients critically ill with COVID-19.”
        (June 2020)

Fenofibrate, another cheap, pretty safe, and widely available drug, is entering trials soon.

        1. Not sure what you are getting at here Ian, but I’ve made arrangement to treat some of my horses with Invermectin cause why not? Seems like a good insurance policy of my own and what is the harm in that?
          ~
If the medical industry will flippantly dissolve the Hippocratic oath, when so much info is now so obvious, then that tells me, that I can’t rely on the medical industry and I’ll just have to take matters into my own hands.
          ~
My reading of the study you provided in the link was that it was “inconclusive”, but my reading of what occurred is India suggests it is “definitive”, so WHY for Christ’s sake for Christ’s over the top of the mountain sake has this information not be shared world-wide?
          ~
It makes no sense unless it truly is that we are it the whim of bureaucrats and the associated pharmaceutical industry and there craving desire of profit above health.
          ~
          sick ain’t ian?
Best to you really, and I apologize for even attempting to understand your momma’s sentiment. I apologize for that.
          ~
Best to you Ian – may it all work out in the end.
          Ken

    4. Geez, I hope yer not surprised. Invermectin won a Nobel prize and has saved countless lives in Africa and other places. It’s the active ingredient in heartworm medicine for dogs and it works. Of course vaccine for COVID-19 is a giant rip off but it also works. I’m vaccinated but if I wasn’t and couldn’t get it, I’d take invermectin in a heartbeat. Knowledge is suppressed all the time, nothing new here. Big pharma is almost as crooked as the banksters and kill’s hundreds of thousands every year in the USA alone. Best to avoid the medical racket and you can lower your chances of dealing with them by proper diet and exercise, no secret there but fast food and the idiot box and social media time wasting is easier, just take a pill from Big pharma, so much easier.

      1. Bob – for Christ’s sake I totally agree with this, and I’m glad I’m ending on good terms with you Bob…..

  26. The odious Bellingcat, Atlantic Council, NATO connection needs exposing for what it is. I looked up Atlantic Council on wiki…..and I found that Wiki themselves had a headline comment saying that the article about the Atlantic Council sounds like propaganda. Enough said.

    1. Atlantic Council, et al. enumerated here: https://swprs.org/ Take some digging but there’s hidden gems along the way in the sense of that’s it’s all related. Some pretty graphics too.

    2. See also wikispooks.com – can be a decent ref.

    3. Couldn’t believe, Wikipedia’s “Funding” section, on Atlantic Council, Bellingcat, etc. was succinct and pretty explicit. You could add CAP, CFR, AIPAC, Albright Stonebridge Group, Koch, etc?

“The Ukrainian oligarch run Burisma Holdings donated $100,000 per year for three years to the Atlantic Council starting in 2016.[13] The full list of financial sponsors includes many military, financial, and corporate concerns. The leading donors in 2018 were Facebook and the British government”

  27. “China is being portrayed as the big Boogeyman.” Poor misunderstood China. The U.S. and China are equally despotic, and they collaborate on many fronts, especially economically. Xi Jinping praised George H.W. Bush when he passed away, for moving American manufacturing to China. China is building it’s war machine, because as Xi Jinping has said, China will never again be humiliated by any nation. He also said that any nation that attempts in interfere with China’s relationships with other nations will be met with a swift response; I take that to mean the United States inference with it’s relationship to Taiwan which china characterizes as always having been part of mainland China.

Your mischaracterization of China’s plans for the future make me question everything else your write.

We have a plethora of problems that needs to be addressed that are not being addressed by either China or the United States. We should be united in getting both countries to address the run away single use plastic problem that is now invading our bodies, disrupting the gene expression process in our cells and breaking DNA in our cells. We should be getting both countries to realistically address climate change which neither country is even attempting to address. We should get both countries to come clean about the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic which both countries continue to shroud in secrecy.

    1. We should as get both countries to immediately scale back the toxins that are being sprayed in the environment rather than collaborating to increase their use where China manufactures and the U.S. green-lights their products.

According to reporting from EENews, the agency used information provided by the Agricultural Handler Exposure Task Force, a consortium of chemical companies that includes BASF, Bayer Monsanto, Corteva, FMC, and Syngenta/ChemChina, the primary manufacturer of paraquat. 1. They’re all for the poison. All of ’em. There’s no China and US in opposition. The “good guys” are the ones who only want to poison you less or differently.

        https://navdanyainternational.org/

      2. Only because in some demented state, they believe it will not affect them, that they will be spared, that they can live in the hills in their castles where these poisons will not reach them.
        []
But it is in the air they breathe now, it is in the water they drink now. It is everywhere, so they will not be spared.

    2. I definitely won’t miss the doofy anti-China nonsense by brainwashed human livestock like Timothy Michel either. No they are NOT “equally despotic”. There is exactly ONE nation that is circling the planet with hundreds of military bases, waging endless wars around the world which have killed millions and displaced tens of millions just since the turn of this century, and working to destroy any nation which disobeys its dictates. That nation isn’t China. Unbelievable that this needs to be explained.

Neither will I. I’m sorry these shitheads are ruining everything for the rest of us. I HATE not being able to comment on anything, but I also read lots of comments sections and they really are nauseating. The wacky commenters are usually delusional loonies who probably chew with their mouths open. Or paranoid shriekers who have gone off their meds.

        1. Um, wow.
          ~
I can’t you believe you said that.

          But, OK, I admit it.

Sometimes I chew with my mouth open.
Do really have a problem with that or
          was it metaphorical?

I was sorry that I included: “Your mischaracterization of China’s plans for the future make me question everything else your write.” because that was an Ad hominem attack as well, so I deserved what I got.

Still your doubling down on your meme, that the United States is the only powerful country in the world that is manipulating other countries, does not comport with the facts.
        []
This shouldn’t be about the United States v. China, this should be about all of us demanding that both China and the United states honor the rights of people.
        []
Honestly Caitlin, your blind acceptance of the “good will” of China frightens me, though you have made many good observations in other areas.
        []
As far as the other commenters, do not complain when you find that you have lifted the yoke off of your shoulders when one super power collapses, only to find a new yoke placed on your shoulders when the super power waiting in the wings rises to fill the void.

      3. Oh yes, one more thing, if you think that the United States will ever go to war with China, think again, the United States could never afford to lose their manufacturing partner, because that would mean the collapse of the economy of the United States. Xi Mingze, Xi Jinping’s daughter graduated from Harvard. So it would seem that China’s leadership doesn’t have the same loathing of the United States that your do Caitlin.
        []
The United States behaved in a way that can only be described as bellicose since 2001. 9/11 was not engineered and executed by Osama bin Laden, he, and al Qaeda, were just the fall guys. 9/11 was the catastrophic and catalyzing event the United States needed to execute the “Remaking of the Maps of the Middle East” plans that it had laid in the 90’s.
        []
It should also be observed that it has been the International bankers, which are headquartered in the Federal Reserve in the United States, that has been looting, burning, killing and maiming since 1913.
        []
That, however, does not mean we look the other way where China is concerned.

Yes, between John Foster and Allen Dulles, fellow yank politicians, and a string of cowardly, manipulating USA Presidents, we can be forever grateful to those who were not willing to accept the status quo of obsequious self entitlement through stratified mediocrity and conformity. Saddened to read you’re pulling the pin on this column Caitlin, good luck in whatever direction your destiny determines.
