Listen to a reading of this article:

“You’re denying the agency of Ukrainians!”

This is a line you’ve probably had bleated at you by propagandized empire livestock if you’ve engaged in online debate about the role western powers have played in paving the way to this war.

One of the many, many tricks that imperial spinmeisters have pulled out of their hats in their shockingly frenetic campaign to manage the narrative about what’s happening in Ukraine is to insist that it’s outrageous and disgusting to suggest that Ukraine is being used as a sacrificial pawn in the grand chessboard maneuverings of the US-centralized empire, because it is denying the “agency” of that nation. The argument is that Ukraine freely chose to enter into the situation in which it now finds itself, with no outside pressure or influence of any kind whatsoever.

Seemingly overnight it became not just wrong to say that the US hegemon has played a role in giving rise to this war, but actually monstrous and evil. My online notifications are currently flooded with furious empire apologists screaming at me for assigning any degree of responsibility in this conflict to western power structures with the kind of vitriol people normally reserve for Holocaust deniers or pedophelia advocates.

Imperial narrative managers have even been working overtime to make the word “westsplaining” happen, which is their progressive-sounding term for when one makes the self-evident observation that western powers influence world events. Mainstream westerners are actively trained to regurgitate lines like “Stop westsplaining to Ukrainians about coups and proxy conflicts! You’re denying their agency!”

Calling this a “proxy war” between Russia and the United States or calling Kyiv a “puppet regime” of Washington is strictly taboo now. That Ukraine has lacked independent agency in this war and the events leading up to it is something you are simply not allowed to say.

Well, I’m saying it. This is a proxy war. Kyiv is a puppet regime. Ukraine does not have independent agency in any meaningful way. This is not the fault of the Ukrainian people, who are obviously far and away the greatest victims of the Russian invasion, but of the giant western power structure which deliberately worked to take away the nation’s agency many years before the invasion took place.

I mean, my god. The US and its allies are pouring billions of dollars worth of weapons into Ukraine from around the world, the CIA has been training Ukrainians to kill Russians, the US intelligence cartel is directly sharing military intelligence with Kyiv as we speak, and this follows US-backed coups in Ukraine in 2014 and in 2004 before that.

This is a proxy war. This is exactly the thing that a proxy war is. The only “agency” Ukraine has is the Central Intelligence kind.

In an excellent article for Multipolarista titled “Ukrainian leftist criticizes Western war drive with Russia: US is using Ukraine as ‘cannon fodder’“, Ukrainian-American Yuliy Dubovyk writes the following:

Like any other US puppet regime, Ukraine doesn’t have any real independence. Kiev has been actively pushed to confront Russia by every US administration, against the will of the majority of Ukrainian people.

The support for Ukraine that fills the Western media now is not out of real solidarity with the people of Ukraine. If that were the case, the US wouldn’t have overthrown our government twice in a decade; it wouldn’t have supported the policies that made us the poorest country in Europe; it wouldn’t have fueled a brutal civil war for the past eight years.

The reason US media outlets and politicians are all backing Ukraine now is because they want to use the Ukrainian military and civilian population as cannon fodder in a proxy war with a political adversary.

Yes indeedy. Amid all the phony profile pic activism and concern trolling about denial of Ukraine’s “agency”, no concern whatsoever has been shown for actual, known assaults on Ukrainian independence by the US-centralized empire.

Where was all this reverence for Ukraine’s “agency” in 2004, when The Guardian was reporting that “while the gains of the orange-bedecked ‘chestnut revolution’ are Ukraine’s, the campaign is an American creation, a sophisticated and brilliantly conceived exercise in western branding and mass marketing that, in four countries in four years, has been used to try to salvage rigged elections and topple unsavoury regimes”?

Where was the respect for Ukraine’s “agency” in 2014, when a leaked phone call between Victoria Nuland (now working on Ukraine under the Biden administration) and US Ambassador to Ukraine Geoffrey Pyatt showed US officials casually discussing who they were going to select as Ukraine’s next Prime Minister following a US-backed coup in Kyiv?

Where was all this respect for Ukraine’s “agency” in 2018, when Joe Biden openly boasted before the Council on Foreign Relations that he had used his power as Obama’s Vice President to brazenly interfere in Ukraine’s judicial system?

The US power alliance does not care about Ukraine’s sovereignty beyond what measures need to be taken to actively subvert it. When people object to criticisms of the way the empire has actively robbed Ukrainians of any real agency, what they are actually doing is defending the most powerful empire that has ever existed from attempts to highlight its malfeasance.

I’m not just spouting off about a far away nation from my safe home here in Australia, for the record. This is a dynamic which affects my country directly, and is very likely to affect it a lot more as the empire’s “great power competition” with China heats up.

It is very likely that in the not-too-distant future, Australia will end up playing a crucial role in the empire’s grand chessboard maneuverings to stop the rise of China. When that occurs, I will most certainly be saying that we are being used as pawns in a proxy conflict, and I will most certainly be saying that our agency in this matter has been stolen from us.

As in Ukraine, there have been US-backed coups in Australia not once but twice. This nation is now functionally little more than a US military and intelligence base with a smattering of suburbs and kangaroos, which is why the puppet regime in our capital Canberra has done nothing whatsoever to end Washington’s brutal persecution of Australian journalist Julian Assange. John Mearsheimer, now the subject of great controversy for his completely accurate predictions years ago that US and NATO actions would lead to this exact war in Ukraine, told an Australian think tank in 2019 that the US will destroy Australia if Canberra doesn’t align with imperial agendas against Beijing. And he was right.

And yes, just as there are Ukrainians supporting the imperial line against Moscow, when the time comes for Australia to make great sacrifices for US unipolarist agendas against the Chinese government there will absolutely be Australians supporting it. Because of a massive propaganda campaign in this nation facilitated by our Murdoch-dominated press and imperial narrative management operations like the empire-funded Australian Strategic Policy Institute, there are many Australians who intensely despise China right now. I know. I’ve met them.

But that won’t mean our sovereignty wasn’t robbed from us, by mass-scale oligarchic psyops, by CIA coups, by secret deals, by the threat of knowing we’d be immediately attacked by a murderous empire if we tried to pivot to Beijing or even to simply espouse a neutral posture. What’s true of Ukraine is also true of Australia: we have no meaningful agency in the most important decisions made by this nation.

Denying the western role in subverting Ukrainian sovereignty doesn’t benefit ordinary Ukrainians, it hurts them. You can’t fix a problem you don’t understand, and until there’s widespread understanding of the way the US empire uses proxies to advance its agendas of global domination, nothing can be done to stop these ugly proxy wars from happening.

Is the Petrodollar Swaying? By Ghassan Kadi for the Saker Blog
The Petrodollar was meant to be a win-win agreement in which America propped up its economy, and in return supplied Saudi Arabia with security.
As time went by, the deal became increasingly one-sided, one in which Saudi Arabia was getting the spiky end of the pineapple. The Saudis have been feeling shafted for a long time, but they did not have enough intestinal fortitude to stand up and show their dismay to Uncle Sam...
America does not expect MBS to only condemn Russia and mirror the sanctions, but it also expects him to pump more oil into the global market in order to meet the shortfall created by the sanctions.
MBS is not playing ball the way America wants him to play. He is refusing to condemn Russia, thus far refusing to lift oil production. But most seriously, he is discussing with China doing oil transactions in the Yuan (Renminbi) instead of the USD…
MBS seems to be maturing enough to know how to play the game of the big boys. What is really pertinent is that the so-called Petrodollar, and what is left of its future, rest in his hands; and America has no say in this. Even as I finalize this article, news of a USD collapse is already being reported on the mainstream media. With the deployment of the Kinzhal missile yesterday, the first-ever use of hypersonic weapons in combat, we can surely be certain that the changes we are witnessing now, economic or military, are not ones that the West ever desired or envisaged.

Propaganda is not enough some days, just not enough…

So if “we” sanction “everybody”, “We Win”, right?
US Recklessly Eyes China as Target in Economic War , Joe Lauria
After these statements it seemed clear the U.S. was trying to lay the groundwork for a truly reckless idea: to tie China to the war so it could sanction it perhaps along the lines of what the West has already laid on Russia.
Then on Thursday U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken spelled it out: “We believe China in particular has a responsibility to use its influence with President Putin and to defend the international rules and principles that it professes to support. Instead, it appears that China is moving in the opposite direction by refusing to condemn this aggression, while seeking to portray itself as a neutral arbiter.” He added: “We will not hesitate to impose costs.”…
All this was preparation for President Joe Biden’s video-call on Friday with Chinese President Xi Jinping, in which Biden warned Xi not to help Russia’s war effort in Ukraine or there would be “consequences” to pay…
Xi, however, warned Biden that the U.S. sanctions on Russia could trigger a worldwide economic crisis, apparently implying that the crisis would be far worse if the sanctions were extended to China…
The U.S. recognizes that its economic war against Russia could well fail because of the close and expanding economic and financial ties between Moscow and Beijing. But it is too late for the United States…
The U.S. has turned the majority of the world’s population against it. And it is now threatening to blow up the world economy. Cutting off trade and finance to Russia has already boomeranged on Western countries, driving up prices, especially at the pump. Instead of prompting a popular uprising in Russia as a result of its sanctions, Russian President Vladimir Putin’s popularity has actually risen since the invasion.
Adding China as a target of its economic war could drive the populations of the U.S. and Europe against their own governments instead.

  4. One thing is left out of this analysis. We’re told that the US/CIA has got Ukraine and Australia and plenty of other places under its thumb, with no genuine agency. Sure, they have elections, but those are pretty easily controlled, mostly by ensuring that all viable candidates are “compliant” so it doesn’t matter which wins. But who’s the bad guy here? “The US/CIA”? But does that mean the people of the US are holding the reins? Hell no. We also have phony elections; we also suffer to ensure the further enrichment of the stinking rich, and the continued power of our demonic overlords. There is a dangerous enemy and it’s not the people of the US–even if way too many of us are stupid, totally drinking the Kool-ade of the culture wars and currently, as other posters have pointed out, roaring with love of Ukraine and hatred of Russia, a Two Minute Hate fest daily, The MSM has always been controlled, always been pro-war. But the overwhelming majority buying it hook line and sinker–that’s new, and scary. Feels like the power structure has some new mind weapon. How can we possibly prevail against climate change/plummeting biodiversity/overshoot, or avert nuclear exchanges, if the certifiably insane cabal has this much control of the narrative? WTF happened?

  7. Beau of the 5th weighs in on Mariupol.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wi_kDPvDs9Q
The Armed Forces of Ukraine must allow themselves to be slaughtered, Alamo style, in order for victory to be achieved.
In various cities in Ukraine, as they come under seige, penned and helpless fighters must become the “anvils” that will break the Russian “hammer,” by fighting it out street by street until they are dead.
Mariupol happens to be the first of these anvils, and Odessa might be the second, should the Russian hammer even survive the Mariupol anvil, which is not a given.
Two things, one, the defenders of the Alamo were not given the option to surrender Beau, whereas the shattered remnants of the Ukraine anvil in Mariupol were give a surrender or die ultimatum at last night, and if you watch some of the news coming from the outskirts of the city, you will hear the hammer in the background, because the anvil in Mariupol apparently did chose death, just as you requested.
    — As was expected on Day 2 of this operation Beau, when it became clear to many of us who do not follow people like you, that cauldrons were going to formed in the southeast by the Russians, and everything else would be a sideshow until that task was completed.
So you did decieve your listeners on this one, didn’t you ? Because unlike the Alamo, the defenders of Mariupol were given options all along, until a minute after this morning’s 5 am deadline as a matter of fact.
Two, what do you know about Odessa that I don’t know? Or anyone else for that matter? Up until today Kyiv was what this was all about. Right? That’s what you’ve been telling your listeners for the past three weeks.
Now suddenly our focus must shift to the “anvil” of Odessa? Are you privy to sources of information that no one else is?
    I suspect you are.

    1. beau’s a total state department mouthpiece, imo (talk about egging on ukrainians to serve empire …). odessa has quite a lot of russian speakers. you also know of the odessa trade union massacre. sputnik now features an article about ‘nationalist fighters’ dressing up as civilians to try to leave through the corridors.

      1. When it comes to pushing the narrative that every last male Ukrianian between the ages of 18 and 60 must fight to the death to prove their worth, Beau of the 5th is not only the best on YouTube, he’s the best there is.
I’m going to give him one more week to prove himself a man of honour, after that I will throw him in my mental shithole, the one I call, “enemy of the human species.”

  8. Obama defense secretary Leon Panetta says NATO is in a “proxy war” with Russia
    https://www.wsws.org/en/articles/2022/03/19/llgk-m19.html

    Andre Damon
    18 March 2022

Leon Panetta, the former US secretary of defense and CIA director under Barack Obama and White House chief of staff under Bill Clinton, said Thursday that the United States is involved in a proxy war with Russia in Ukraine.

“We are engaged in a conflict here, it’s a proxy war with Russia, whether we say so or not,” Panetta said.

He concluded, “I think the only way basically to deal with [Russian President Vladimir] Putin right now is to double down on ourselves, which means to provide as much military aid as necessary.”

He added, “The way you get leverage is by, frankly, going in and killing Russians.”

Panetta’s comments came one day after US President Joe Biden announced the deployment of an additional $1 billion in weapons to Ukraine, adding to the $2.5 billion in weapons given to the country since 2014.

Biden announced that Ukraine would receive 9,000 anti-armor systems, 800 anti-aircraft systems, 7,000 small arms and 20 million rounds in ammunition.

So far, the US estimates that 7,000 Russian servicemen have been killed in Ukraine, or one in 28 troops deployed in the conflict. While the Russian army is making slow advances in parts of Ukraine, it has not managed to gain control over any of the major cities so far over the past month of fighting. The massive weapons deliveries by NATO to the Ukrainian army clearly have had an impact on the course of the war.

On Wednesday, the defense ministry of Slovakia, a member of NATO, offered to send S-300 long-range anti-aircraft weapons to Ukraine.

Russian foreign minister Sergey Lavrov said that Moscow “will not allow” the delivery of the weapons system, declaring, “We clearly said that any cargo moving into the Ukrainian territory which we would believe is carrying weapons would be fair game.”

Lavrov’s comments reinforce the dangers of the “proxy” conflict over Ukraine spilling over into a direct war between Russia and NATO members, which could trigger, via Article 5 of the NATO treaty, a full-scale war.

This week, the US deployed two Patriot Missile batteries on the border with Poland.

On Thursday, UK Defense Secretary Ben Wallace announced that the UK would also deploy a medium-range anti-aircraft system in Poland.

Amid rumors that Ukraine and Russia were nearing a diplomatic agreement to end the war, the US on Thursday made clear that it would not accept a diplomatic solution. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said, “The actions that we’re seeing Russia take every single day, virtually every minute of every day, are in total contrast to any serious diplomatic effort to end the war.”

He concluded, “We have a strong sense of what Russia could do next… We believe that Moscow may be setting the stage to use a chemical weapon and then falsely blame Ukraine to justify escalating its attacks.”

The United States is meanwhile flooding its European allies with weapons. “European governments have approached the U.S. government and defense contractors with a shopping list of arms including drones, missiles and missile defenses as the Russian invasion of Ukraine drives renewed demand for U.S. weaponry,” Reuters reported.

Germany is in a massive buying spree of weapons as it abandons all restraints placed on its military in the aftermath of its horrific crimes during the Second World War. The country has announced plans to buy 35 F-35 fighter jets from the US, and Reuters reports that Berlin is also considering purchasing a US missile-defense system. Poland has plans to purchase reaper drones from the United States.

Reuters reported that “The potential for a surge in sales of all types of weaponry since the invasion began Feb. 24 has lifted Lockheed stock 8.3 percent and Raytheon shares 3.9 percent.”

The conflict is accelerating the already massive US arms trade. This week, the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute published its annual global arms trade report, concluding that the US was by far the world’s largest arms exporter.

The journal Forbes commented: “For the five years from 2017 to 2021, the U.S. accounted for 39 percent of major arms deliveries worldwide, over twice what Russia transferred and nearly 10 times what China sent to its weapons clients. In addition, the U.S. had far more customers – 103 nations, or more than half of the member states of the United Nations.”

Under conditions in which massive quantities of weapons are being poured into an active and bloody conflict, there are growing warnings of a full-scale war, alongside unhinged demands for escalation to the brink of the abyss.

“This Is How World War III Begins,” declared New York Times columnist Bret Stephens. He meant this as a demand not for de-escalation, but for a more aggressive US military intervention into the conflict.

    Stephens wrote:
“Refusing to impose a no-fly zone in Ukraine may be justified because it exceeds the risks NATO countries are prepared to tolerate. But the idea that doing so could start World War III ignores history and telegraphs weakness. Americans squared off with Soviet pilots operating under Chinese or North Korean cover in the Korean War without blowing up the world. And our vocal aversion to confrontation is an invitation, not a deterrent, to Russian escalation.”

This week, Martin Wolf of the Financial Times warned, “The hope for peaceful relations is fading. Instead, we have Russia’s war on Ukraine, threats of nuclear Armageddon, a mobilised west, an alliance of autocracies, unprecedented economic sanctions and a huge energy and food shock. No one knows what will happen. But we do know this looks to be a disaster.”

Wolf concluded: “Russia’s war on Ukraine has similarly transformed the map of our world. A prolonged bout of stagflation seems certain, with large potential effects on financial markets. In the long term, the emergence of two blocs with deep splits between them is likely, as is an accelerating reversal of globalization and sacrifice of business interests to geopolitics. Even nuclear war is, alas, conceivable.”

Despite these warnings, there are demands for further US escalation. The Hill reported that “a growing number of lawmakers are pressing the Biden administration to fulfill Kyiv’s request for more air power.”

The Hill added, “The discussion has transcended the partisan divisions routine to Washington, pitting the White House against not only Republicans, but also some of President Biden’s closest Democratic allies.”

There are, moreover, indications that the conflict is taking on an increasingly global dimension. Meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday, Biden demanded that China pledge not to provide “material support to Russia,” and threatened “consequences” if it refused to make such a pledge.

Xi, for his part, condemned the US response to the war, stating, “Sweeping and indiscriminate sanctions would only make the people suffer. If further escalated, they could trigger serious crises in global economy and trade, finance, energy, food and industrial and supply chains, crippling the already languishing world economy and causing irrevocable losses.”

Republican Senator Marco Rubio declared that “China is complicit in Russia’s war on Ukraine,” demanding that “Xi and the CCP pay a price.”

The conflict that has erupted with the Russian invasion of Ukraine, according to Trump Administration National Security Council member Matthew Pottinger, is a “hot opening salvo in a cold war pitting Washington and its allies” against Russia and China. Pottinger concluded, “What we have to do is double our defense spending immediately.”

    1. Pottinger should jump into an active volcano immediately.

    2. It is Defense Borrowing rather than commonly used Spending.
Borrow from the people to defend the private bankers.

      1. Correct. Therefore, any person, mutual fund, foreign government, etc. that buys US Treasury Bonds is in fact loaning their money to the US government so that the US government can CONTINUE its Global War OF Terror For Profit. They are all investing in perpetual war.

        1. I wonder if the perpetual war is the WW3, it just moved the action to Ukraine.

    3. So if anybody still wondered cui bono, they couldn’t get a better answer than this. The MIC salesmen must be popping champagne every night. Because who in his right mind is going to believe Russia is any threat to anybody beyond Ukraine’s borders? Nobody. Why would it invade the EU while it is underpopulated, has no ideology to sell and knows that WWIII will have no winners? This is ridiculous! And every military expert knows that the neutralization of Ukraine is the only solution and long overdue at that. On the other hand, who is willing to buy weapons with a perfect excuse to sell their taxpayers? Politicians who get kickbacks from weapons’ sales and don’t give a damn about how much it’s gonna hurt their budgets anymore than they did for the luxury ($60 three shots) Covid vaccines. It’s Christmas! And austerity for the sheeple in the throes of inflation and gas prices scam :o)

      1. Even worse, the US does not have a budget, they just keep borrowing against the future, aporently counting on inflation to erase the budget deficits. Some economics.

  9. 5 billion in the hands of well oiled and experienced colour-revolution marketing machinery will get you any ‘agency’ you require, alas.

  10. Great insight, again!!! I’m from Canada – irony a commonwealth country finds itself under the agency of The Turncoats. We locked up Huawei exec for ‘Merica. I’m waiting for the rest of the world to free me. I chose the hypocrisy of freedom over communism. Kind of the same, one thinks it’s free but isn’t and the other knows it’s not free but is.

    1. Have you noticed any similarity with the nato countries, it might be part of the whole master race … I mean plan.

  11. The CIA is the US Federal agency that is an institutional violator of the International Law and Human Rights.
For example, the CIA’s use of torture violates 1984 UN Convention against torture.
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Nations_Convention_against_Torture
In other words, this is not a kind of organization that can be trusted with training of almost anybody except war criminals.

    1. I listened to these 24 lectures on The Great Courses Website:
“The Agency: A History of the CIA” by Hugh Wilford, PhD Professor, California State University, Long Beach

The CIA bungled up almost all of their missions, and usually sacrificed the ex-patriots or insurgents they trained, and even abandoned their own agents. The CIA almost never faced much responsibility, besides the CIA Directors committing suicide or dying of alcoholism.
These are the folks that seem to be running – or ruining – the USA right now.

  12. We have no “agency” here in the good ol’ USA. We have elections that are a complete farce where we get to choose between corporate sponsored warmonger from column A or B. All three branches of government are totally corrupted. Nobody represents the will of anyone who isn’t part of the “GloboCap” Oligarchy. Mutual Assured Destruction is the only thing holding the evil ones in partial check. The proles are commanded to CONSUME and OBEY.
We must keep buying useless crap and take our jabs, or Vlad the Impaler wins.

Hi ya’ll just thought I’d post a few informative links regarding the Ukraine conflict-

Donbass Insider website: report from Mariupol, with video interviewing civilians who detail how Azov battalion kicked them out of their flats and used their flat for fighting Russian army. Azov forced them into the basement for 15 days, gave them no food or water, and threatened to kill them if they tried to leave the city-
    https://www.donbass-insider.com/2022/03/20/donbass-civilians-evacuate-mariupol-and-reveal-the-fighting-methods-of-the-azov-regimes-neo-nazis/

Patrick Lancaster, American journalist in Donbass, March 14th Urkaine armed forces Azov Donbass city cluster bomb attack. The city has no military there, they deliberately targeted civilians. Not a single article in American corporate media about this war crime –
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ANNhDKGjNK8&t=318s

American mercenary in Ukraine tells how they are cutting up U.S. mercenary passports and forcing them to fight at the front with only 10 rounds ammo. “It’s a trap they will not let you leave”-
    https://www.brighteon.com/eb2e84e1-5afc-4951-b504-1ccb41ff82be
    https://rumble.com/vxhn9v-us-mercenaries-are-sent-to-front-line-in-ukraine-with-no-weapons-or-kit-war.html

Western media urges naive American/other foreign mercenaries to come and fight for Ukraine–then they cross border into Ukraine, given only 10 rounds and a crappy gun/no gun, realize they’re fucked….try to leave–and can’t! The Ukraine military cuts up their passport at border and sends them back to the Kiev front lines to be cannon fodder. Remember the mainstream corporate media last two weeks encouraging Americans, Brits etc to come and fight the Russians in Ukraine? It’s a DEATH TRAP!

    1. I’d love to buy the content of that last link, being rather supportive of the Russian operation but I find it just as believable as the “two idiots” (could almost hear the German “zwei Idioten” from B movies) on the first day who’d allegedly run out of gas for their tank and went to beg for it in a Ukrainian gas station that didn’t give them any. They probably weren’t armed either… Come on… There’s a limit to extravagance that even the CIA should be aware of! Now, in this case, why would the Ukrainian army send people to the front without weapons and a decent supply of ammo? This is ridiculous on its face and the first time in six years that I’ve seen something really looking like… Russian propaganda :o)

You think the last guy is lying, and it’s Russian propaganda? Get a clue dude, there are many other mercenaries stating the same thing, armchair politico jr. Why don’t you put it to the test then: go to Ukraine and volunteer for the foreign legion and let us know how it goes.

  14. Good point.
I would just highlight one correction about this:
“The US and its allies are pouring billions of dollars worth of weapons into Ukraine from around the world”.
These weapons are not going to be used inside of Ukraine. It is not possible for now. The Russians will not let any shipment of weapons to be delivered. They have been intercepting and blowing up any vehicle or warehouse.
But these weapons are in Europe being stashed. When and how it will be used just time will tell. I would. keep an eye in the movement of those 300 thousand NATO troops stationed from Romania till the Baltic states. The Atlantic North and Mediterranean Sea are crowded with US-UK Fourth Reich warships.

    1. The 300,000 NATO troops are the mercenaries in the war of the Central Bankers with their infinite supply of paper money vs. the suppliers of limited natural resources.

  15. Note to the many who are having difficulties accessing certain sites:

  16. Anyone aware if Consortium News has been deplatformed by the powers that are erasing “freedom of speech and thought” as alternate languages of more conscious communication???

    1. i noticed it too.

    2. Sad but it was expected to happen under the New Holy Inquisition. If the MSM will go till the bitter end sustaining that universe of lies they will have to burn all books of history in order to not have to face prosecutions. If there will be one which I doubt.

  17. Proxy war? No agency? CIA?
LA LA LA I have my fingers in my ears and I’m NOT LISTENING

  18. For the attention of John Knox:

Can we stop Nuclear war by masking our eyes and letting ourselves continue to be vaccinated against ‘it’ with the drug of propaganda???

Deaths by the uncontrolled COVID-19 outbreak have been drastically reduced, with the assistance of 3 or more shots of a manmade antidote, produced through “gain of function” experimentation.

Death by nuclear weapons, of all of humanity, in one fell swoop, will only take a one-shot catastrophe.

  19. the US is using Ukrainians as a human shield to drain Russia and take another step on the road regime chane in Russia, and if the Russian’s don’t oblige by killing enough of them the US will just have help things along with a false flag bioweapon attack, professing horror that the Russian’s place no value on human lives.

  20. Who won the propaganda war? The early assessment on both sides was that we destroyed them. I mean, on the other side, they were almost in a state of shock at how quickly and easily we steamrolled them. What the hell happened on this front seemed to be the second biggest question on their minds.
Well, this ain’t the fucking Cold War. We are much better at this shit that you are now.
Look at how niave your people were, just 5 months prior to the invasion!
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bQZ-3nFb3oU
We had y’all hoodwinked. As Sunny Sun Tzu tells us: “Every victory is won before it is fought.”
Too funny. But there is a modern concept called blowback, isn’t there, that even the mighty Sun Tzu was unaware of? We’ve all been burned in life, and if we get burned badly enough, I don’t think there’s been a single human since whatever dawn that hasn’t vowed, that will never happen to me again.
I saw the speech. The colors didn’t fit the somberness of the occassion, I didn’t think, but who am I to judge, I’m still stuck in the Cold War myself, expected browns and shades browns only, but at least there weren’t fireworks and flyovers and pumped in noise. Just a calm, simple conservation between a President and the 80,000 attendees in the audience.
I’ve also seen the poll numbers. Do I believe Vlad the Comeback Kid is at 79%? Yeah, I do actually, thanks in part to YouTube. Part of the surprise new packages My Algo keeps pushing on me, is Russian vloggers telling me what it is like to live in a sanctioned hellhole, and one thing these vids have taught me in just a matter of days, is a propaganda war is no different than an American football game, just because you score two touchdowns in the first 5 minutes, doesn’t mean the game is over.
Far from it. In fact, you could easily find yourself behind by the end of the first quarter.

  21. We may be glad of Ukraine’s sacrifice as it hastens the end of the USA and its vassals. The coming storm of shortages and crashing economies will stress the West past capacity and quality of life will fall to 2nd or 3rd world levels.

As covid vaccines depopulate the world there may not be time for the nuclear weapons to be used. A strange future awaits, I’m sad I’m too old to see it.

    1. Covid has killed a lot more people than nuclear weapons have. We can stop it by wearing masks and getting vaccinated.

  22. A well written article. But you do realize the USA is a vassal state of Rich money don’t you? Wheels within wheels.

  23. My Dad landed in Darwin in March of ’42, his artillery battalion remained in place there, protecting Australia from evildoers 😉 unitl the summer of ’43, when it was shipped out to provide fire support to AMF forces in the Nassau Bay area of New Guinea. Was attached to them until late ’44 I think, I know he was Buna in when he was rolled back into American Army as it prepared for the invasion of the Phillipines.
Said he didn’t do a damn thing during that period of the war except follow along in the wake Austrialian victories. Considered the Aussies the finest soldiers of World War II, “they were better than the Gurkas” he would often tell me.
Well, the Russian Federation has issued it’s first surrender or die ultimatum of the war. Azov in Mariupol has until 5am to make their decision. By looks of things, there is not much of them left.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L6UzUMrEEXM
I am seeing very little rubble in this war, considering. The words bombing and shelling need to be redifined I believe, to more accurately describe the firepower being utilized two decades in to 21st century.

  26. This was the last thing I tried to post on Consortium News before it just totally disappeared from my browser. I’ll share it here, as any thoughts on Ukraine are now always relevant.
    ~
re: Washington’s admonishments of China on Russian operations in Ukraine
    ~
Firstly, it’s totally hypocritical of Washington to rely on the authority of the UNSC to enforce its will with respect to anything, considering how often it has totally flouted the results of votes in that chamber with respect to its own actions on war and peace or those of Israel. So, Washington’s claims that Russia’s aggressive actions in Ukraine are illegal while its own equally egregious acts are hunky dory is just a load of bunkum which no one need base their own actions and policies upon. China should simply counter with the same approach that Washington will pose: if you don’t like it, lump it. “International law” under the aegis of the UN is a boat that has sailed away long ago, mostly through the ill will and bad behaviour of the American state. Capice?
    ~
Aside from that trivial point, Washington is condemning and warning China for purportedly acting in exactly the same way as itself, although hardly as egregiously.
    ~
U.S. Deep State speaking through Biden sock puppet: “Oh, China, this war is between Russia and Ukraine. Therefore you cannot get involved by aiding Russia in any way. If you do, we will have to consider you combatants in the conflict and impose upon you all the same penalties as we level on Russia.
    ~
[Sotto voce] “Never mind that, aside from the UNSC fig leaf which we choose to honor or ignore as expedient, we are doing exactly what we condemn you for.”
    ~
“Heaven forbid, we are not combatants in this, otherwise Russia would be entitled to lob a few hypersonic missiles our way. We are a peaceful, peaceable, peace loving people. Peace is our gimmick, not yours or Russia’s!”
    ~
China (and much of the world) responds: “Except that you ARE combatants. You’ve been involved in the conflict since you provoked it back during the Maidan coup. You’ve been involved in the conflict with the arms, the cash, the encouragement/meddling and the military training you’ve been supplying the Ukrainian regime for the past eight years as it has ravaged the ethnic Russian separatists in the Donbas, as it has endlessly sued, slandered and impeded Moscow, cut off water and power to Crimea, and stolen gas from transit pipelines on its territory all on your suggestions. Then there has been all of the economic sanctions, impediments and theft from innocent private property owners and business transactions, such as the builders of a multi-billion dollar gas pipeline and now the owners of yachts, tankers, container ships, cargo, plus outright theft of bank accounts and national gold deposits amounting to hundreds of billions of dollars that you have blatantly pursued ad nauseum against Russia somehow across the entire globe with no legal jurisdiction to do so other than the application of naked threats like common gangsters! You’ve even meddled in professional sports and the Olympic games to discredit both Russia and China. And the last straw has been your heinous attempt to erase heroic figures, such as Yuri Gagarin, down the memory hole from history as if they never existed simply because they were of Russian birth. What shameless racists you “enlightened beings” in the beneficent West really are under your masquerades. To tell us Chinese that we cannot offer our help to achieve justice, stability and peace in this vortex of chaos that the United States has fomented is the epitome of hypocrisy and we will entertain no more of your fevered rantings.”

  28. Does anyone know what has happened to Consortiumnews.com?
    ~
Caitlin’s post there as of yesterday was one of the last to appear.
    ~
The site has been dark all day long today (Sunday on E. Coast of North America).
    ~
None of the Windows10 diagnostics give a clue to the problem.
    ~
Any word on whether they’ve been hacked, their server is malfunctioning or if the fucking US government has simply shut them down because of too much truth?
    ~
Some of the last articles and live broadcasts where the most powerful yet.
    ~
Joe Lauria looked more animated and intense then I have ever seen him on the Sputnik broadcast with the Galloways. Seemed seriously concerned.
    ~
I’m concerned the fascists may be starting a purge. CN was is probably the most powerful and credible voice for what remains of free journalism in the US.
    ~
RT and Sputnik, being Russian sources, constantly go down and remain out for a while but always have come back on (heretofore) on my Comcast provider. Saker is spotty too. Andrei was really pessimistic about avoiding WWIII yesterday and thought he might be personally at risk (considered an enemy combatant) if he continues to post updates and analysis. Caitlin is not Russian but god knows the goons could, at the least, silence her too. Don’t know if the Oz thought police are yet rounding up their own citizens. Just interrupting communications services throws fear into people not parroting the government line.
    ~
Supposedly Sinclair Lewis was famously quoted as saying “When Fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross.”
    ~
I think they’ve dispensed with the flag and cross and gone straight to the hard core.

    1. Noted about Consortium. Also RT but not TASS. Haven’t had problems with the Saker. Have noticed too that when I click on a story that is critical or takes a different look at any situation I get sent back to google. First noticed on Middle East Eye ‘on Israel’ if the article uses the name, Palestine.
      Keep searching.

    2. I’m getting Consortium News, also RT & Sputnik, so I guess it’s not that they’ve been hacked or their server is down, unless that was the case and the damage has been repaired or worked around.

      1. Just now back up after being out all day.
        ~
        Precious source.
        ~
How many other sources tell the truth?
        Maybe 0.01% ?

        1. Now it’s down again. Crap.

    3. I just tried accessing Consortium and came up empty. All I get is “Hmm, can’t reach this page.” It’s been censored, I don’t see any other possibility. Or maybe it will pop in and out randomly–who knows how these censoring assholes go about their mischief. The point is, we’re not going to able to see much ANY dissenting opinion to establishment propaganda very soon. Expect Caitlin to be taken down soon by the cyber goon squads.

  29. Just came across the following article a bit earlier, and I think we can safely assume that Zelenskiy is spouting complete and utter B/S:
    .

‘Zelenskiy tells Knesset Russia envisages a ‘final solution’ for Ukraine’
    .

Volodymyr Zelenskiy drew links between Vladimir Putin’s “final solution” for Ukraine and the Nazi extermination of the Jews as he challenged Israel over its failure to impose sanctions on Russia in an uncompromising address to the Knesset.
    .

Warning Israelis that they would have to live with their choices, Zelenskiy, who is Jewish, said Russia’s president was waging an “all-out war, illegitimate, intended to destroy our people, our country, our cities, our culture and our children. Everything that makes Ukrainians Ukrainian”.
    .

“The Russians use the terminology of the Nazi party, want to destroy everything,” he said. “The Nazis called this ‘the final solution’ to the Jewish question. And now … in Moscow … they’re using those words, ‘the final solution’. But now it’s directed against us and the Ukrainian question.”
    .

    https://www.theguardian.com/world/2022/mar/20/ukraine-russia-peace-deal-close-says-turkey-despite-western-scepticism
    .

Funny how he’s not mentioned it before, and only does so now…. when addressing the Knesset. Hmm…..
    .

And further on in the article it says the following:
    .

Kyiv was said to be open to changing its constitution to abandon aspirations to join Nato, but wants Turkey, Germany and the five permanent members of the UN security council to act as guarantors of any deal.
    .

Now why would THAT be the case if the invasion had nothing to do with NATO expansion, as we keep being told by our wonderful leaders and our totally trustworthy MSM, and how it’s really all about Putin’s ambitions and dreams of conquering Planet Earth, and THEN the WHOLE of the galaxy and, as such, becoming Emperor of the Milky Way.
    .
    PS I wonder who’s writing Zelenskiy’s scripts…..

  30. Caitlin, you are a great writer, but, I am going to guess, you are not the CIA’s favourite writer.

        1. yeah, that never happens, except in the case of Trump; he wandered off the reservation. I don’t know what to make of the NYT publishing something truthful, seems like there is a power struggle, or several power struggles, among the elite, and the Times is taking the anti Biden side, which means the CIA is.

          1. The way it was done en passant, I rather think the NYT took the avantage of the Ukrainian fog of war to acknowledge/
memory hole it in a same movement. Like “Oh and by the way, I killed your mother. Any news from Kiev yet?”

The answer is that yes, it would appear from examining the literature from before the beginning of this conflict, that this appears to be a proxy war against Russia by the United States and Ukraine was set up as a puppet regime after the U.S. backed coup that ousted popularly elected president Viktor Yanukovych. There has between civil war fomenting in Ukraine ever since and 14,000 people of Russian descent have died in the Donbass region in eastern Ukraine at the hands of U.S. backed Ukrainian militias.
    ~
It is therefore incumbent on the United States to end this conflict by having all parties, including themselves, come to the negotiating table.

    1. We need to come to the understanding of Russia that Billy Joel came to in 1989.
      ~

    2. The other thing that has been at work in Ukraine is cognitive warfare that designs to build cognitive structures in people’s mind to make them into your agents on the ground in your target country.
      ~
      https://thegrayzone.com/2021/10/08/nato-cognitive-warfare-brain/

  33. if ‘agency’ makes you think ‘self determination’ then you are drunk on neocon cool aid

if south vietnam had agency there would have been no vietnam war…..

all of s usdden the cia masters are supposed to be in to what they did not allow in 1954!

no country has ‘agency’ to become a ‘two centimeter trip wire’ for someone else’s nuclear exchange

‘agency’ is blither by neocon fanatics.

ukraine people are controlled, their elections rigged, and the coup in 2014 was illegal cia intervention. ukraine is a neocon colony.

no country has the right to insist it be launch point for ww iii, like germany evolved in to from 1948 to 1991 when baker and bush sr said nato would not expand “one inch” to get the soviet army out of east germany.

germany was the trip wire for nuclear war.

neocon ‘agency’ would make ukraine the tripwire

and they think a russian president would let russia die the death of a thousand cuts (!!) from ukraine, goergia, etc w/o starting ww iii,

more likely russia would put up short range thermonuclear weapons and make ww iii w/ nulcear armegeddon very short fused.

why do the neocons think their propaganda is bought outside the teutonic abbey?

  34. It is getting scary on a very personal level if you entertain even an objectivity about Russia. I feel like I have to censor myself everywhere I go now, and it infuriates me. So I feel moved to start writing articles about it and publish them online, like you, Caity. I’ve been following Russia very closely for years and posting about Donbas, and my posts mostly go unnoticed. If they get any likes at all it’s from people who already know what I’m writing about. The rest ignore it. Prior to 2016, a lot of my friends listened to me about Russia, but that ended rather sharply during Russiagate. That’s when russophobia really gripped the US. There has always been creeping russophobia here, even right after the USSR collapsed. But even in the Cold War, I don’t recall this level of hatred for all things Russian. It’s actually getting scary to talk about this with anyone but my closest friends. They are not interested in hearing ANY other side of it. They have CHOSEN to believe the propaganda. They believe it because they WANT to.

    1. Carolyn L Zaremba Avatar
      Carolyn L Zaremba

I hear you. I have to keep my mouth firmly shut, it seems, since so many people I have thought of as friends for years are all turning into rabid war cheerleaders, Russia haters and dupes of mainstream media. And I hate it. I find myself talking to myself when I am home alone and then working as hard as I can to put the truth online wherever I can find a place to do so. I lived all of my life until 1991 under the Cold War. I marched against the Vietnam war and helped smuggle guys into Canada to evade the draft. I marched for civil rights. But even then, when the cops were gassing us and chasing us down the street, I never had anyone I knew cheerleading for war and imperialism. Not one.

    2. Blessthebeasts Avatar
      Blessthebeasts

Don’t censor yourself. All we have left are our voices and if you give that up, you’re one of them. So what if you’re not part of the woke crowd anymore? You can at least speak the truth. Maybe a grain of it will get through.

    3. I agree with you. They most definitely want to. But I ask myself what the hell is their motive?
      ~
Do they think that professing such a warmongering attitude will somehow mitigate the possibility of WWIII? What kind of twisted logic is that? Perhaps the thugs in Washington only want to be validated and liked by the public they kick around with so much gusto? Once they have our acquiescence they will act reasonably in our best interests. Nah, that only works in the “Catch 22” plotline. (Just “like us” and we’ll send you home, Yossarian!)
      ~
Are the deepest recesses of most American psyches really so fearful and hateful? Our mental hate files can expand without limit to accommodate the continuous generation of new “enemies.” What, we don’t spend enough time hating and opposing our fellow citizens on our many domestic political battlefields, so we must go around looking to pick fights–ones with potentially terminal consequences–on the opposite side of the world? Why the hell should it matter to work-a-day Americans one iota how other countries choose to organise and run their own affairs? Why must every other society conform to our norms when we ourselves cannot decide upon what those should be? The whole thing smacks of a pure power trip and an avaricious quest for other people’s resources foisted upon our small minds by our manipulative leaders. That attitude most surely will not mitigate the chances of triggering WWIII. It can only increase them. Moreover, even if we “win” such a war, we will not personally realise any of the booty–that always goes to the war profiteers and other insider elites–but most likely we will lose our employment, income, housing, progeny, daily sustenance and perhaps even our life if the enemy we foolishly choose can project force to our own shores. Russia with it highly developed nuclear missile system is most certainly capable of bringing the war home to us. Why are Americans–or any nation’s prols or plebs–stimulated to adopt such a self-defeating point of view on this?
      ~
Maybe, one might argue, the adoption of such bellicose views is the outgrowth of pure altruism. The targeted citizens are bombarded with government propaganda of great injustices being done to alleged victims in some far off land, and relatively affluent (by world standards) Americans are made to feel sympathy for them and guilt on their own part for being so asymmetrically advantaged. The want to help. They want to balance the scales of justice, assisting the needy and punishing the guilty. That might be fine if their sources of information and their consequent beliefs are true and accurate. Things become problematic when the public is provided with false narratives, deceits, propaganda, and deliberate omissions of relevant facts. Things become ever more egregious the more skewed the ascertainment of truth versus deceit. The absolute worst scenario, which is what I perceive to be the case in present day America, is when the truth is still attainable–over the independent on-line media, for instance–but is willfully rejected or ignored by most of the public, which is what you are positing. What does that represent, besides a suicide wish? or the foolhardy notion that nothing “bad” will happen to ME in this war, but only to “bad” people in far away lands because of full spectrum American dominance or “god’s grace” to his most beloved nation on earth? To which I say, get real. If this god you claim exists and operates via the principles and standards you preach in his name, we are guaranteed losers. Such arrogance and hypocrisy deserves nothing else.

  35. Good-bye.
We squandered the time when words could have mattered.
In 48 hours, whatever happens will have begun. Remember we might have done something.
    Too late.
    Goodbye.
