Listen to a reading of this article:

The United States is suddenly very concerned about human rights violations in India, with Secretary of State Antony Blinken telling the press on Monday that “we are monitoring some recent concerning developments in India including a rise in human rights abuses by some government, police and prison officials.”

While it is true that India’s right-wing government is guilty of human rights abuses and has been for years, it is also true that the US State Department does not actually care about human rights abuses.

A leaked State Department memo from the early days of the Trump administration showed neoconservative empire manager Brian Hook teaching a previously uninitiated Secretary of State Rex Tillerson that for the US government, “human rights” are only a weapon to be used for keeping other nations in line. In a remarkable insight into the cynical nature of imperial narrative management, Hook told Tillerson that it is US policy to overlook human rights abuses committed by nations aligned with US interests while exploiting and weaponizing them against nations who aren’t.

“In the case of US allies such as Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and the Philippines, the Administration is fully justified in emphasizing good relations for a variety of important reasons, including counter-terrorism, and in honestly facing up to the difficult tradeoffs with regard to human rights,” Hook explained in the memo.

“One useful guideline for a realistic and successful foreign policy is that allies should be treated differently — and better — than adversaries,” Hook wrote. “We do not look to bolster America’s adversaries overseas; we look to pressure, compete with, and outmaneuver them. For this reason, we should consider human rights as an important issue in regard to US relations with China, Russia, North Korea, and Iran. And this is not only because of moral concern for practices inside those countries. It is also because pressing those regimes on human rights is one way to impose costs, apply counter-pressure, and regain the initiative from them strategically.”

No, the US State Department does not care about human rights abuses. Blinken’s remarks are just the latest in a series of shots across the bow that the US empire has been firing at New Delhi to warn it against moving into alignment with Moscow.

In an article last week titled “India to Face Significant Cost If Aligned With Russia, U.S. Says,” Bloomberg reported the following:

President Joe Biden’s top economic adviser said the administration has warned India against aligning itself with Russia, and that U.S. officials have been “disappointed” with some of New Delhi’s reaction to the Ukraine invasion.

“There are certainly areas where we have been disappointed by both China and India’s decisions, in the context of the invasion,” the director of the White House National Economic Council, Brian Deese, told reporters at a breakfast Wednesday hosted by the Christian Science Monitor.

The U.S. has told India that the consequences of a “more explicit strategic alignment” with Moscow would be “significant and long-term,” he said.

This new tone is a significant shift from the jovial relations between India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Trump administration, or even between Modi and the Biden administration as recently as last year. Just yesterday Biden made it clear in a call with Modi that it would be against India’s interests to increase its oil imports from Russia. Reuters reports that Biden “told Modi India’s position in the world would not be enhanced by relying on Russian energy sources,” according to US officials.

“The president conveyed very clearly that it is not in their interest to increase that,” White House spokesperson Jen Psaki said when asked about India’s imports of Russian oil.

We can expect to see more and more feigned concern about Indian human rights abuses from the US government if these increasingly unsubtle messages are disobeyed, with destructive acts of economic sabotage soon to follow.

The US empire is correct to be concerned about a potential future Indian pivot out of Washington’s sphere of influence. While it has succeeded thus far in weaponizing New Delhi in its grand chessboard maneuverings against China, the world’s two most populous nations uniting with the Russian nuclear superpower in the emerging bloc of nations who are rejecting absorption into the US-centralized power structure would be disastrous for the empire.

But the fact that the US sees it as its business who foreign nations choose to align with reveals its true dynamic on the world stage, and makes a mockery of the lip service this empire has been paying to the importance of respecting national sovereignty in its narrative management about Ukraine. The US is the single most tyrannical regime on earth, using whatever amount of violence, coercion and bullying are necessary in its efforts to bring the entire planet under its lasting control.

This empire truly believes it has a right to rule the world, and that no nation has a right to refuse it. The re-emergence of a true multipolar world is crashing headlong into an imperial doctrine that demands securing unipolar domination at all cost, and it’s getting very ugly very fast.

  1. Remember Justin Trudolt of Canada was concerned about India’s abuse of the farmer protestors. We would never trust that dolt, why would we think this is some sort of moral stance from Bliken? He cares about human rights as much as the sanctioned tortures he probably admires.

  2. the reason is India is siding with Russia and even ignoring US sanctions, so now India is the bad guy.

    1. Odd, that not adhering to US sanctions is conflated with siding with Russia. I guess its a binary world. At least the US always sees it that way since they own the world, therefore, if your not for em your agen em.

An oldie but a goodie – If you reverse the MSM’s ‘official’ narratives you’ll get at least a little bit closer to the actual facts of the narratives than by taking them at straight face value. Best advice I ever received. Or, at the very least, take everything the MSM spew out with a pinch of salt.

  4. While i agree the whole human rights concern is bull and used for political purposes i wish our good Caitlin would also equally point out the human rights abuses of Left Wing countries as well.

    1. she has answered this numerous times. the biggest human rights violator by far is the US and its assortment of puppets, so it’s kind of hard to “equally” criticise the human rights abuses of left wing countries, cause we aren’t talking about any kind of equality here.

Would not surprise me in the slightest if there are only two true spheres of influences existing right now – The West (UK/US) and China. All the other nations have puppet leaderships aligned with one or the other of the two. All the global political maneuvering, the real wars as well as the massive psyop smoke and mirrors wars/conflicts/willful political incompetence/clown leadership/extremist leadership are aiming for a one world government. That was always the long term plan for rival globalists.

  6. USofA…this shit disturbing nation just can’t quit meddling all over the globe. Charity starts at home, Yanx.

  7. Has there ever been representative of regime USA that has looked more, of one of the living dead? ie. zombie. Apologies to zombies.

    1. Totally get what you are saying. I love comparing Winken Blinken to Lavrov, Russia’s senior diplomat. A total know-nothing meat puppet whose counterpart is a genuine diplomat.

  8. I do not want to make light of human rights but the whole concept is so ephemeral. The definition is so tied to social and cultural mores it is almost useless. Society determines your human rights. Governments determine your human rights. Religion determines your human rights. How can I say you abuse human rights when your definition is different than mine. For one culture to lecture another on human rights is ridiculous. Womens rights, rights of the unborn, rights of children, etc etc. All defined differently by different cultures.

  9. Apart from a small dispute in the Kashmir region – China/India relations are good !
India has not joined the BRI due to US pressure !

When they do it will finish the Rothschilds $US and EURO completely !

    1. You don’t have a clue. China is out to destroy India and capture large parts of its territory. It has given loans to other countries bordering India, to obtain their loyalty and to surround India with enemies. I am Indian, and I know.

      1. China hasn’t shown much interest in capturing large parts of any other country’s territory, and capturing large parts of India would saddle it with millions of resentful citizens prone to revolt, resistance, and rebellion. Why would China want that? Which parts of India do you think China is out to capture?

      2. Just because you are Indian, it may just mean you are susceptible to a particular narrative/propaganda, we all have only part of the picture. On the political scene, many countries are just fair weather friends, bossom buddies one day and name calling enemies the next

China through AIIB has given loans to a lot of countries. So far China has not gained much or any territory anywhere, unless you consider purchases based on local law is an example of this. Perhaps it will happen, that is in the realm of speculation. It is even true China has given loans to India even during the their border dispute (https://www.scmp.com/economy/global-economy/article/3136109/china-backed-aiib-maintained-loans-india-during-border).

  10. Another day of fantasy in the Empire of Lies.
What a great “fair” world we could have if only …

  11. “In 1991 when India was about to default in payment to IMF and foreign entities about 8 tonnes of Govt Gold was air lifted to Bank of England for getting a loan. Though India paid back all loans the Gold is still with Bank of England. This could not be lifted back to India due to Insurance problems and safety”

I wonder how much is in the USA, and if Modi is selling $US reserves? The example of Russia must be high in the non-aligned worlds minds.

“due to Insurance problems and safety” …..and India’s authorities actually accepted this ‘likely’ story? lol I’ve heard most of the USA’s gold was shipped to Bank of England (City of London?) aswell. I know most of Australia’s was, but since Australia is ‘Little Brittan’ does it even matter?

  12. All you need to know about the US position on human rights is that Saudi Arabia is their bestest buds and they chop peoples heads off with swords. For sorcery. You can also google Guantanamo, El Salvador, Guatemala, Vietnam, Abu Ghraib, George Floyd, Julian Assange, Yemen, etc. etc. etc. etc. if you want, but the US being pals with head choppers ought to aboutdo it.

We seem to be at something of a tipping point. Russia + China is a big counterweight, but add in India and that’s only a bit less than half the world just with those three countries. China will shortly have the biggest economy in the world, India will shortly have the largest population, and Russia is the largest country in the world and has 6000 H-bombs. It’s going to take more than snitty looks in the bathroom to keep them in line. The choice that countries have to make is shaping up to be 1) trade with the world’s biggest economy and be left the fuck alone or 2) trade with the second biggest economy and kowtow. The clowns in the US government are in permanent BS mode and have no other way to be so I don’t see reality bashing them over the head hard enough to change their hypocritical bellowing, but it seems like at some point things are going to become so outlandish even US voters notice. Of course, I’ve thought that before.

BTW, I’ve traveled in India and it’s the trippiest place I’ve ever been. Adjectives kind of fail me. Don’t start with India, but get there eventually. The chance of the US getting or keeping India under its thumb is zero. In fact, I actually just laughed thinking about it.

  13. Far too many of us are addicted to following and reacting to deep state/MSM propaganda, allowing what WE say to be shaped by what THEY say, allowing ourselves to be jerked around inside an Overton window framed by the enemy. We know it’s a losing strategy, yet, as in the case of other addictions, we can’t seem to help ourselves. Today it’s about alleged rights abuses in India. What will it be tomorrow? What issue will THEY choose for US to talk about?

  14. Again, i agree with the basic premise of this piece – that the state department does not “care” about “human rights” except in how they can use the subject to pressure allies and adversaries alike…In fact one state or another is never really an adversary OR an ally, of these people, only in or out of compliance wrt to any given policy objective…some states -like Israel, seem to be more consistently compliant than others -like Pakistan. But i completely disagree that these policies are the result of old understanding of “national” interest. This basket of imperialist economic policies, we can call them “globalization” are accepted and carried out in full collusion with that entire division of the globalist capitalist ruling class we usually refer to as “the west” . French ruling class is no less guilty than British who are no less guilty than Australian ruling class, who are equally culpable with Canadian who are all in on it with US who conspire with Japanese…and so on..The current maifestation of imperialism is global and effectively stateless.

    1. True but the headquarters are in the US. That’s where the remote control box is kept as well as $800 million a year worth of military. And it is also the US MIC that pockets the proceeds of the arms sales all over the joint. And it’s unlikely the military-industrial complex will accept foreign shareholders for reasons of national security – even if some probably have dual nationality..

      1. Sorry typo: $800 billion

  15. Caitlin, you might enjoy:

  16. The US government exterminates human life on such a vast scale, how can anyone keep a straight face when they tell you they are concerned about human rights abuses anywhere? Their primary “accomplishment” is violating the rights of human beings, ending human lives, and forcibly changing their leaderships (their “regimes”). Some people may benefit from their actions, most suffer, but they sure as hell do none of these things to improve anyone’s condition but their own. If they really wanted to help, they’d commit mass suicide.

U.S. behavior in this is as transparent as a child’s pleasure with it’s first taste of milk chocolate. These guys aren’t eve good liars any longer.

    1. So much so that they’ve started admitting that they lie. Perhaps they want us to think it’s ok for them to lie whenever they want. They don’t seem to realise that they lost the right to claim the moral high ground a very long time ago.

  18. I live in eternal hope of watching Tony Blinken criticizing the Palestinian slaughter and human rights abuses by the Israeli state..I wonder why he doesn’t do it….?

    1. I Think there’s no reverse gear when it comes to the bosses’ war talk. They said Russians are villains and that won’t change. They said Israelis are victims and that won’t change either. That’s why I look for differing points of view.

  19. I think it is futile for the US to “take on” both China and India, as well as Russia.
This is why they are trying to scare off India and China.
In all the schools I went to nobody ever said ” I want to be friends with this sociopath.”
I few will follow bullies, but sociopaths tend to lose their supporters quick. Maybe that’s why they need to modernize their nukes.

  20. modi is the next putin,

the pnac had their way in pak!

  21. Thanks, Caitlin, I wouldn’t see this nonsense otherwise. I grew up in a neighborhood with quite a few mafioso. Biden warning India seems very familiar. It would be a shame if something were to happen to your nice country, know what I mean?

    1. Given the fierce nationalism of Modi and his party’s Hindutva, these warnings from a declining empire might well backfire.

    2. Tonight Modi sleeps with the fishes….

      1. or with Imran Khan at any rate. how low will the US go? how low is low.

  22. Truer words have never been spoken. Someone should take Blinken on a guided tour of Guantanamo and the CIA black sites around the world. Gina Haspel?

  23. Hypocrisy, the foundation of United States’ foreign policy (and domestic policy as well).

    1. How these guys can keep a straight face while uttering this kind of bullshit is an absolute wonder. It must be the hardest part in recruiting for the job. Most candidates will laugh their head off after a couple of sentences and spoil the show.

      1. That must be how they make sure that only sociopaths are hired. No reasonably sane person could keep a straight face through those lies.

    2. To quote President Putin “the Empire of Lies”.
