The debate rages on over whether or not House progressives should force a floor vote on Medicare for All by threatening not to re-elect Nancy Pelosi as House Speaker, with one side arguing that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and the rest of “The Squad” were elected to advance progressive policies so that’s what they should do, and the other side arguing that AOC is cool so shut up and leave her alone.

As we discussed yesterday, Americans will not be given Medicare for All despite overwhelming public support because an immense amount of power depends on keeping them in a state of financial struggle so they don’t interfere in the affairs of a nation which serves as the hub of a global empire. The US political system does not exist to serve the interests of Americans, it exists to serve the interests of the empire. No part of that system is there to protect the people from the powerful; it’s there to protect the powerful from the people.

There’s a misconception which spans almost the entire US political spectrum, and that is the idea that some part of the system serves the people. Progressives believe they can use the electoral process to obtain economic justice for Americans. Trumpers believe the judicial system is going to overturn Biden’s win any minute now. Liberals believed Mueller was going to drag the entire Trump camp out of the White House in chains.

And that’s just not the case. There is no part of the US political system which is anything other than innately oppositional to economic justice. There is no part of the US judicial system which would ever act to reverse widespread establishment electoral fraud. There was no part of the Special Counsel which was separate from the same unifying power structure that Trump serves to remove him from office over corruption or anything else. Ever since 2016 people have been predicting massive upheavals which radically shift power from one mainstream faction to the other, but it never happens; the imperial machine keeps chugging along with all its parts working in well-oiled harmony.

And that’s all the US governmental system exists for: ensuring the uninterrupted functioning of the imperial machine. But that doesn’t mean there’s no value in pushing for officials to do the right thing.

Yes it is true that AOC and other House progressives will probably lay low instead of doing the right thing that people are pushing them to do, and that even if they do show some spine and force a floor vote on Medicare for All it will be quashed by other politicians on Capitol Hill. Yes it is true that any and all measures which US progressives advance to bring Americans the same social safety nets afforded to everyone else in every major country on earth will be quashed by whatever means necessary to ensure the continuation of a ruling class to manage the global empire. But it is still very worthwhile to push for those things anyway.

You don’t push politicians to do the right thing because you think they will, you do it to show everyone else that they won’t. You get them essentially making your argument for you: Oh we can’t fight for that right now because the system is rigged to nullify our attempts to do so. And this helps spread awareness to the greater public about just how fucked things really are.

Human behavior only changes when there’s an expansion of consciousness, whether you’re talking about individuals or a collective of any size. This might sound like woo woo New Age drivel, but I promise you it isn’t. It just means that people don’t stop doing crazy and self-destructive things until they can fully perceive what’s driving it and why it’s undesirable.

Substance abuse doesn’t end until the user turns and faces the inner demons that have been driving them to use. A religion’s child molestation epidemic doesn’t end until its victims come forward and are actually listened to. Women don’t get the right to vote until awareness spreads that women are actually capable independent thinkers. A society doesn’t collectively reject racism until it collectively becomes aware of how destructive and insane it is. No matter the size or scale, the behavioral dynamics do not change until consciousness is brought into them.

This is where the real battle is being waged. Not ultimately in winning elections or obtaining committee positions, or even really in winning specific battles over policy, but in expanding consciousness. In showing more and more people more and more information about what’s actually going on above and below the surface. That’s what will lead to swift and lasting change.

This is why so much of the battle is happening on the front of propaganda, censorship, and press freedoms. The more unconscious aspects of our world want to keep things secret, distorted, and hidden in the shadows, while those who want change are fighting to turn the lights on. This is also why there’s so much value in getting a political system which doesn’t serve the people to expose itself. First and foremost the quest is to spread awareness of what’s really going on to as many people as possible; people need to become aware that they’ve been duped.

So keep spreading awareness using every tool you have available to you. Pressure the system to do what it’s supposed to be doing, and then when it doesn’t, shine a big bright light on the lock they’ve placed on the door and make a lot of noise about it so that people can see they’ve been trapped.

Things won’t change until a critical mass of people becomes aware that they are happening and how they are happening. Once this awareness has been sufficiently spread, there’s not actually anything our rulers can do to stop us from using the power of our numbers to force real change. They can’t arrest us all; they’ll run out of prison space. They can’t kill us all; they’ll have no one to rule. It’s an unwinnable fight for them, which is why they’re fighting instead to keep all the lights off using corruption, propaganda and secrecy to keep us from opening our eyes at mass scale to what they’re doing.

Our task is to turn the lights on. Their task is to keep them off. The side that wins this battle is the side that wins it all.

  1. Its true the Dems don’t respect or fear the left. What I don’t understand is why there isn’t a better candidate for speaker. Why isn’t there an actual election?

    .
Probably you are referring to the U.S. Federal Government, that is Washington, D.C., which is now — as President Eisenhower warned — fully controlled by the military–industrial complex, with policies that do not reflect the preferences of the majority of Americans.
    .
At the local level there is greater variety. For example, on the issue of police brutality, the city of Camden, N.J. disbanded its police force and rebuilt it from the ground up, with a completely new focus on improved community relations. And the city of Alexandria, Ky. hired social workers instead of more police officers. The results are excellent in both places, with reduced crime rates and many other social improvements.
    .
Another example is the city of Cambridge, Mass., which uses proportional representation in elections instead of winner-takes-all. PR has historically ensured fair representation of minorities and reduced the power of corrupt political machines.
    .
So, indeed, there is that ugly cancer inside the nation’s federal government. Specifically — as first revealed by the Chief of Special Operations for the Joint Chiefs of Staff under President John F. Kennedy, Colonel L. Fletcher Prouty — with all branches of the federal government infiltrated by CIA people since the times of Allen Dulles, on behalf of the complex that rules the United States enslaving and suffocating the people in America and other countries.
    .
And in front of that, as Caitlin has very well explained before, there is also still America the beautiful:

  3. Yes, keep spreading awareness but do not expect many people to become aware. The world’s great liberator announced a brilliant strategy for defeating the evil empire and it only requires a small number of dedicated revolutionaries: “I came to liberate this civilization but they hate me because I testify that their actions are evil…….I did not come to bring peace to the world, but a sword…..everyone on the side of truth listens to me……I am the Way, the Truth and the Life…… I came to give abundant Life……leave the dead to bury the dead and you come follow me….. whoever is not with me is against me……if you preserve my word (My Message) you will perceive the truth and the truth will liberate you.” He was not speaking of mere spiritual liberation or experience. He was speaking of real liberation from deception, injustice, tyranny, indoctrination, oppression, violence, prejudice, illness and liberation from vaccinations which they claim will prevent you getting sick as a result of the grossly unhealthy products and lifestyle with which they entice you.
Caitlin urged: “take the leap into the UNKNOWN.” But the world’s great liberator declared: “I am the light of the world……. whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life…… leave the bind to follow the blind and come follow me.” He stated that this ancient, evil and almost everlasting empire, namely the so-called “Holy Roman Empire” established by Roman Catholic bishops and cardinals and sustained by their allies until today will continue to deceive and corrupt the inhabitants of the earth with their tacit approval until His followers carry out His instructions and then their actions will precipitate the end of this evil empire. THE FUTURE IS KNOWN only the timing is unknown because the future depends on action by a small number of dedicated revolutionaries who put the great Liberator’s strategy into practice.

    .
We the People are a great big annoyance to the (laughingly-named) Public Servants. We (to Them) are like the annoying summertime flies that won’t leave you alone when you’re trying to eat your lunch outside in peace. These Elitist “Servants” just want us to finance their every whim, keep our place, keep our mouths shut, and stay out of their way. Nothing bothers them more than having to answer our questions or deal with us in any way at all. If you want to annoy these (laughingly-named) Public Servants, the way to do that is to EXPECT something of them – ANYTHING of them – even if it’s only an answer to an inquiry. They assign their lackeys to give you a pre-packaged response so they can claim they “responded” to you, but in fact it was their hired yes-man (or woman) who did their cutting and pasting of an attorney-approved collection of horse manure to pacify you and hope you’ll then give up and leave the “Elected Official” alone.
    .
“Human behavior only changes when there’s an expansion of consciousness, whether you’re talking about individuals or a collective of any size… people don’t stop doing crazy and self-destructive things until they can fully perceive what’s driving it and why it’s undesirable.”
    .
Ultimately, most every aspect of human behavior comes down to one thing: What does this do for ME? Yes, there are acts of sacrifice and sharing which are remarkable. But let’s be honest here. Most of the seven-plus billion people on the Earth only think or do something because they feel they will benefit in some way. And there’s nothing wrong that. But that should not and must not be the ONLY motivation at all for humanity. People can benefit from cooperation. People can benefit from humbling themselves. People can benefit from loving others. People can benefit from sharing. You can’t and shouldn’t eliminate self-interest from the human equation. What you must do is expand beyond this as the SOLE method of existing. If I can help you, I help myself, too. Not such a bad concept.

  7. Caitlin, your argument is what I’ve been saying for quite some time now. On the face of it, exposing the crooked, self-serving, system-serving system, instead of the people, may never end, but no chance of it ever ending can be served by not exposing it to the vast majority of voters, who never learn the truth and/or act automatically, as if they belong to a cult, not as registered to a political party, while still retaining their ability to think for themselves.

    1. You have a lot of negatives acting upon one another in there. After applying a little math and logic, I think you mean something like ‘The only chance of exposing the c.s-s.s-s.s. can maybe be served by exposing it to the v.m. of voters, etc.’ I think that might be debatable, but I will await at least a B+ for my math homework first.

The corruption is absolutely out of control. Graft, bribery, blackmail, all manor of targeting and harassment by intel agencies, law enforcement and contractors, insider trading (apparently that’s virtually legal now) . . ..
    `
Our elected and unelected government is bought off on every level; all three branches of government are compromised. How many are being blackmailed by the crime syndicate?
    `
The criminal justice system is a sick joke. The idea that everyone is treated equally under the law? What a sham. The legal system only “works” for those who can afford the best lawyers
    `
The “independent” media is a punch line. They’re all controlled and owned by the same institutional investors, Blackrock, Vanguard, UBS, State Street . . .. The same investment companies that own and control virtually everything else.
    `
The same institutional investors that are, themselves, controlled by the global robber baron crime syndicate.

  9. “So keep spreading awareness using every tool you have available to you.” Here’s a most effective tool I stumbled upon last night, c/o Jimmy Dore and Steve Grumbine. The simple yet startling message they convey is absolutely essential for progressives to grasp, and even more so for the average American voter. I respectfully urge readers of this blog to take half an hour and watch this episode of “The Jimmy Dore Show.” It isn’t as entertaining and cathartic as watching him pile shit on AOC and the rest of squad, which they obviously deserve, but it strikes a much deeper chord which puts Caitlin comments into strikingly clear context.

    1. The problem I have with MMT is that an important component of the money system is usually left out of descriptions of it. That component is force. People will accept a dollar as payment, compensation, bribe, etc., because they think they can get something for it which they value. The ways they might get something for it are various; for example, in some older systems the government or a bank guaranteed that they would get a certain amount of a precious metal, or other valued commodity. Or, the government might exact taxes (a negative commodity) and allow payment of taxes using money. The government can do that because it is the legitimated monopoly of force — the Gewaltmonopol. In MMT, the government can just print money or grant credit, but the money will not call forth labor or goods unless people believe they can get something for it. The government can do this because it can tax and appropriate whatever is necessary to give value to its money, up to the totality of the resources available in the community it controls.

But now the government may have a political problem, since many people may be unwilling to be taxed or have their stuff expropriated, and the potential force of the government may have to be realized physically.

In other words, while it is true that government expenditures are not dependent on taxes and borrowing — that is just a fable — those expenditures are dependent on the potential or actual use of coercive force. Or in yet other words, it’s not tax now, spend later, but spend now, tax (or expropriate or draft) later.

As for economic justice, the only just distribution is a communist distribution, and if that’s ever achieved we won’t need money.

  10. “America: The Farewell Tour” by Chris Hedges, gets it pretty much correct. Capitalism, like Marx predicted, is a system that has to fail in the end. Even with globalization, growth is a finite thing. You can only privatize so many government services to keep the balls in the air. Like all empires, this one will implode.

“History may not repeat itself, but it does rhyme.”

Grandiose delusions (GD), also known as delusions of grandeur or expansive delusions are a subtype of delusion that occur in patients suffering from a wide range of psychiatric diseases:

    1) A messiah complex (Christ complex or savior complex) is a state of mind in an individual holds a belief that they are destined to become a savior today or in the near future. The term can also refer to a state of mind in which an individual believes that they are responsible for saving or assisting others.

They never ever have our best interest in mind. We are meant to be managed and controlled.

  13. We have a choice. Well, sort of. We can insist on a system run by armed force, which is required for any oligarchic or socialistic result, or insist on a system where the individual is empowered to mind their own business. When a system is run by armed force, it will only end up as it has now. Some psychotic gang will eventually gain control of that armed force and apply it for their own benefit.

    1. Properly, socialism is ‘the ownership and control of the means of production by the workers, or by the community in general’, so it is the opposite of oligarchy.

      1. Too bad it never ends up as promised. NEVER! In fact, it usually ends up far worse than a so called capitalist system. Those psychopaths who take it over have been given a mandate to force it into existence, and so they acquire more far reaching power than even a capitalist oligarchy can. The “socialist” systems under Stalin and Mao murdered upwards of a hundred million of their own citizens.

        1. But it might. And that is a very good thing.

      2. Yes, and it would be a delight to live in a society that is not overly controlled by capitalists. Greed is why we now have over 310,000 people dead of Covid 19, because instead of promoting the I-MASK+ protocol, we say, “Go home and rest and when you turn blue, go to hospital.” There, they’ll use their expensive therapeutics to immiserate you further. That’s horseshit, people. Go to FLCCC to learn about early treatment that will reduce morbidity and mortality. We need Medicare For All now and if in the midst of a deadly pandemic, this still won’t be allowed to happen, then revolt in every way you can. I’m sick of this crap from people who think they’re better than everyone else. To hell with anyone who opposes healthcare for all in the middle of a pandemic.

  14. ‘Pushing’ people who have ambitions, huge egos, and empathy bypasses is almost impossible.
(Trump being the epitome of that personality type).
The only time these sociopaths feel any humility is when their doctors tell them they’re about to die.
A job description for most political positions would never include the words justice or decent.

  15. Okay, now I understand what the animated series Aeon Flux from the early 1990’s was all about. It was meant to acclimate Americans to the bad craziness that the 21st century would have to offer and from which there would be no escape. She dies in every ep, you die, they die, everybody dies. And then gets to repeat the process ad infinitum. We are still acting out episode one: the pandemic that eliminates most of the world’s population. Enjoy the madness yet to come: sound and fury signifying nothing.

    1. It was also about maintaining the status quo at all cost.

  17. Wow. Just wow. I kind of hadn’t put that piece together. Thanks, Caitlin. Tides can turn, with education and organization. I just wonder how much more it takes for us “hit bottom” and start to rebuild.

  18. Catlin, you know it very well; we are in the early stages of a civil war, an insurrection. Veterans from Viet Nam to present realize that fair elections are over. So while they are able, another fight is brewing. Dismiss this allegation at your own peril. The courts will do nothing for Trump. Justice will be out of the barrel of a gun. Mark my word.

  19. This might sound like woo woo New Age drivel….

Yes it does. Awareness, consciousness, nice nebulous terms. Nice nebulous subject. AOC just got slapped down for a committee seat because shr would not shutup. They were sending her a message. Lets see if she was smart enough to realize it. I doubt it. She does not strike me as too smart. At this rate NY will redraw her district away since so many are leaving NYC.

    1. with compromise there is only one loser: the truth.
      the truth cannot compromise.
the system is broken, bent, altered to a grandiose fakery.
you seem to always take the “take it slow” side of truth.
when do you expect to get a real honest life-supporting aat least System?
how many generations will it take for you to see it’s not going to change by being nice. AOC –should your prediction hold TRUE–will replace Shumer as Senator. ANd she’s our first female President. Wanna bet?

      1. If America lasts that long. She is definitely stupid and corrupt enough to get elected.

      2. After seeing her refuse to force a vote on M4ALL, I’d say, I hope not. Nancy Pelosi needs to go. We need M4ALL NOW. I agree with Jimmy Dore who has taken lots of slings and arrows this past couple weeks by holding feet to flames. Doesn’t matter if it wouldn’t pass. That’s not the point. Hold these fakers accountable to the people who elected them. Force them to declare themselves in the midst of a deadly pandemic.

  20. “There’s a misconception which spans almost the entire US political spectrum, and that is the idea that some part of the system serves the people.”
    – and there’s the message on a bumper sticker, or maybe a billboard, whatever.

  21. Actually, it’s kind of funny, sweetheart, because as the Empire is spoken of so often, it’s never really mentioned what empire we’re speaking of, so of course the empire never tries to shut you down, as they so often do behind U.S. borders, but, I love you anyway, it’s been both informative and entertaining, and no doubt I will continue to read your works just as I do the public face of the spy agencies of the Empire.

    1. Trying to confuse the issue ? Is there more than one empire seeking to have one world government & total control ?

    2. The ‘Empire’ of which, is being referred to, is “a nation which serves as the hub of a global empire” as it has done since 1945, and its lies are “behind U.S. borders”. However, thankfully, numerically and demographically, it accounts for but 4% of the total possibility, for a more universal conscious to rapidly take a hold, in humanity at-large. Ninety-six percent of the global populace outside of the empire are now way ahead in attaining a higher state of consciousness than ‘US’ ‘soft-minded’ Americans, thanks to the performance of the latest rendition of The President!. Do we even begin to see the forest for the trees; when we have been brainwashed to focus on trivia like who sits on what committee, in an utterly fraudulent system? I’m all for ‘rogue journalism’!
