The word “Obamagate” was thrust into mainstream attention by the concerted efforts of Trump and his surrogates after new details on the early days of the Trump-Russia collusion investigation emerged. These details include Obama officials (including Joe Biden) requesting the unmasking of a conversation between Flynn and Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak, the FBI’s then-counterintelligence director discussing trying to get Michael Flynn to lie during his interrogation about the Kislyak call, and the revelation that there was never any concrete evidence that Russia hacked the DNC.

These are important revelations that are worthy of mainstream attention, but like basically everything else in this stupid, stupid timeline this issue has instead been reduced to the stagnation of vapid partisan squabbling. Democrats and their allied media are finger wagging at Trump for using “conspiracy theories” to distract from his coronavirus failures, and “MAGA” pundits are once again beating the tired old drum that this scandal is going to bring down major Deep State players and drain the swamp once and for all.

Ever since 2016 both of America’s mainstream political parties have been taking turns screaming at the top of their lungs that earth-shattering revelations are right around the corner which are about to obliterate the other party any minute now, and if you’re still buying into this show I highly recommend you also take up watching WWE, because you’ll definitely love it.

“By any normal standard, former FBI Director Comey would now be in serious legal trouble, as should [former Director of National Intelligence James] Clapper, former CIA Director John Brennan, et al,” Ray McGovern wrote for Consortium News the other day. “Additional evidence of FBI misconduct under Comey seems to surface every week — whether the abuses of FISA, misconduct in the case against Gen. Michael Flynn, or misleading everyone about Russian hacking of the DNC. If I were attorney general, I would declare Comey a flight risk and take his passport. And I would do the same with Clapper and Brennan.”

Indeed, this would be the “normal standard”, yet it hasn’t happened. Neither Comey nor Clapper nor Brennan are in any legal trouble at all, nor will they be, nor will any other major player responsible for leading America on a crazy collusion wild goose chase which accomplished nothing but distracting from real issues and manufacturing consent for mountains of cold war escalations against Russia.

You will never see Obama or his administration officials brought down by “Obamagate” for the same reason Trump wasn’t brought down by the Mueller investigation: the swamp protects its own. Both Obama and Trump administrations are packed full of crooks and mass murderers who could and should be imprisoned for any number of offenses, but they won’t be, because that would require a prosecutorial body that is separate from the swamp of corruption with which both of America’s mainstream parties are inexorably interwoven. You cannot use the swamp to drain the swamp.

Do you know why Trump never made good on his campaign platform of locking up Hillary Clinton? Besides the fact that their entire conflict has always been fake, I mean? The Trump administration could easily have found grounds upon which to prosecute Clinton if they wanted to, but going after a loyal establishment swamp monster would have brought the wrath of the entire swamp down upon him. As soon as he had a political opponent in office, if not before, Trump would himself be facing criminal prosecution. By collaborating with the swamp you ensure your own protection, and by attacking it you ensure your destruction.

That’s why no serious attempt has ever been made to remove Trump from office; he’s been playing nice with existing power structures without challenging them in any meaningful way. Everyone who knew anything was aware that the Mueller collusion would never go anywhere, and anyone who could count Senate seats knew impeachment would fizzle. It was all kayfabe conflict so that Trump’s “opposition” could present the appearance of opposition without interfering in agendas they themselves support or prosecuting crimes of which they themselves are also guilty.

It’s also why Obama never had any intention of prosecuting Bush’s heinous war crimes, citing “a belief that we need to look forward as opposed to looking backwards”. In reality Obama always understood that in order to play the “president” role (and enjoy its massive perks for the rest of his life), he’d need to collaborate with establishment power structures rather than upsetting them. He knew that if he were to go after Bush he’d ensure his own destruction; under “normal standards” prosecution is the only sane and normal response to war crimes, but in the Mutually Assured Destruction environment of establishment corruption, there are no normal standards.

I point this out because it’s painful to watch people on both sides continually getting their hopes up that the big KABOOM is right around the corner which will finally vindicate their worldview and punish their partisan rivals. It will not happen. Trump will not drain the swamp, and neither will Biden or whatever soulless swamp monster inhabits the White House next. You were lied to. It’s good to be aware of surveillance abuses, mass-scale psyops and media malpractice, but definitely abandon hope that any of this will lead to any major changes in the establishment itself.

If we want real change, it cannot and will not come from either of the two mainstream political factions whose primary job is preventing real change. It’s going to have to come from the people; we’re going to have to find a way to punch through the propaganda brainwashing, wake up to reality, and use the power of our numbers to force the changes which will benefit us past all the oligarchic safeguards that have been placed in front of us to prevent us from doing so.

This is a lot less pleasant than believing some magical hero in a white hat is going to ride in and do all our work for us and all we need to do is relax and “trust the plan”. It’s a lot less comfortable than expunging the fake two-party worldview from our minds which vast fortunes and years of conditioning have gone into manufacturing. But it is reality.

  1. Sad, but true.

The United States never prosecutes the true criminals of the world, like (most) of the ex-Presidents. I say, “most,” because the others are already dead.

It never prosecutes the underlings who have a name; it will only prosecute those underlings who most people would never hear the names of in normal conversation. This is why Roger Stone and Paul Manafort were prosecuted.

It never prosecutes “journalists” from the likes of The New York Slimes or The Washington Compost, unless (like Judith Miller) they expose corruption.

It never prosecutes those people who commit war crimes (like Mike Pompous). Instead, it will prosecute the reporter who exposes those war crimes (I’m talking about Julian Assange here).

It never shuts down the alphabet-soup entities (like the NSA) that violate the United States Constitution just by their existence, but will chase after the brave individual who told the world about the criminals (Bradley [Chelsea] Manning and Edward Snowden).

It will not recognize the legitimately-elected leader of a foreign nation (Hugo Chavez), but will choose to deal with someone who was illegally “installed” in his place (Juan Guaido).

And it will refuse to allow for the prosecution of a former Secretary of State who allowed for her e-mails to be stored outside of the government’s own archive system, just because she was apparently trying to cover up her crimes (Felonia Milhous von Pantsuit [Hillary Clinton to those who don’t know]).

As Yakov Smirnoff used to say, “What a country!”

    .

—Just so. Notice that Trump only faced impeachment when he went after a Biden. Similarly, Nixon was a heinous, criminal, treasonous president, but faced impeachment only for going after the Democratic party and breaking into its headquarters.
    .
Leave the other side and its depravity to function and profit, and you can get away with pretty much anything, while impeachment has become a tool, at least for Democrats, with which to club Republican fingers once they reach for a Democrat.

  3. We are just plain fuckkkked

  4. I’ve been voting third party since 1996. I’ve been mystified by how few Americans have been doing likewise. Have third party vote counts been accurately recorded?

    1. Probably not, but largescale electoral politics. Western Civ style, don’t look like they work anyway, because it is too easy for the powerful and the rich to suborn the people’s representatives. Those who do not go along with the program are (as CJ observes in this article) either extruded from the ruling blob, or worse. I’m sorry, but power corrupts. It really does. There must be something wrong with it. In any case, our only hope is to reorganized the social order from below, through subversion, seduction, and sabotage.

  5. Well, we don’t have a white hat. And you certainly won’t catch us enslaving a horse to ride in on. We’re also fairly certain we don’t have magic powers—though maybe they’re still waiting for that life-or-death moment to reveal themselves like they always do in the stories. And we for sure don’t want you to relax and `trust us.’

But, we’ll attack the swamp monsters—both past and present—until the CIA takes us out. We cannot be bought, we cannot be intimidated—there’s only one way to stop us. That’s not bravery, it’s not naive boasting, it’s the words of one who is so tired. So tired of the pain, the needless suffering. The death, the destruction, the stress, the fear. So tired of watching it all. It doesn’t have to be this way. And, if we spent our time wisely, if we had just a little luck, then it will not matter anyway should these bastards put an end to us. We will burst like a fungus and spread our spores farther than we ever could without.

On the way to that day we’re going to make sure this door is held open for as many as possible to walk through. Though, we’re not prideful fools—we can use all the help we can get. Will you help us hold the door open? Or will you help them hold it shut? At this late hour there are no neutral positions.

    November 2024.

    We are coming. Expect us.

    1. When Trump nominated Gina Haspel as CIA Director, how could any reasonable person still believe that Donald Trump actually wanted to “drain the swamp”, if indeed the D.C. swamp includes the Central Intelligence Agency? Or, perhaps, word never reached the bayou that John Durham (yes, the very same who has been sitting on his latest report into the CIA/FBI/DOJ) publicly sat on the finding of his earlier CIA torture report for a decade that it was Haspel who ordered the destruction of the torture tapes?

Has it not occurred to anyone else that Durham, who gladly allowed his 2010 report to remain classified — it was never even be released to Congress — is now repeating the same sort of disappearing act of the most incriminating evidence of interagency wrongdoing surrounding the seditious crimes of Operation Crossfire Hurricane?

For those who don’t know, here’s some background on that: https://thehill.com/policy/national-security/386583-doj-gives-congress-r

” DOJ gives Congress report summary on Trump CIA pick’s role in destroyed tapes
By Katie Bo Williams – 05/07/18 04:46 PM EDT

DOJ gives Congress report summary on Trump CIA pick’s role in destroyed tapes

The Department of Justice (DOJ) has given the leaders of the Senate Intelligence Committee the summary of a 2010 report that could shed more light on the role Gina Haspel, President Trump’s pick to lead the CIA, played in the destruction of videotapes documenting a pair of brutal interrogations.

The files from the DOJ’s “Durham report” — named after John Durham, the special prosecutor assigned to the case — have never been made public or given to Congress.

The DOJ delivered the report summary on Monday afternoon, according to a source familiar with the matter, just days before Haspel is set to have her confirmation hearing before the committee. The disclosure stems from a request made by the committee’s top Democrat, Sen. Mark Warner (Va.).

Haspel, now the acting director of the CIA, drafted the cable ordering the destruction of the tapes in 2005. Although Durham did not recommend charges for Haspel, several lawmakers on the committee have identified the incident as one of their key concerns with her nomination. ”

As if that feigned concern wasn’t a prime bit of Kabuki Theatre by Warner? We still have yet to read the 2010 Durham report.

And, consider this. There may never be a second Durham Report, and for all the resources reportedly given to him, Durham has apparently used his grand juries to indict only one defendant, a middle-level Justice Department lawyer: https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/top-republican-there-wont-be-a-r

” A top Republican said he doesn’t expect U.S. Attorney John Durham to come out with a report upon completing his review of the Russia investigation.

Rep. Doug Collins, the ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee, told Fox News last week what he believes will come out of the secretive inquiry, often called the “investigation into the investigators.”

“This is not going to be a Mueller report; there won’t be a report,” the Georgia Republican said, referring to former special counsel Robert Mueller’s 448-page report.

Collins said he believes the public will hear about the progress Durham has made when there is an indictment.

“When he’s ready to charge people, he’ll charge people,” Collins said. “And that’s when we’ll know.”

Not everyone believes there will be any charges.

“Your former colleague, congressman Doug Collins, said today that he believes that the John Durham investigation into the origins of the Trump-Russia hoax and the FISA abuse and so forth will lead to criminal charges. I personally doubt that very much,” Fox News legal analyst Gregg Jarrett said on Thursday while interviewing former Utah Rep. Jason Chaffetz.

Chaffetz, who led the House Oversight Committee from early 2015 to the summer of 2017, said he believes criminal charges are warranted “based on the information we have already seen and already know.”

Durham, the top federal prosecutor in Connecticut, was appointed last year by Attorney General William Barr to review possible misconduct by federal law enforcement and intelligence officials in the Russia investigation. The review turned into a criminal investigation in the fall, allowing Durham the power to impanel a grand jury and hand down indictments.

Only one person is publicly known to be under criminal investigation by Durham’s team: former FBI lawyer Kevin Clinesmith, who altered a key document in Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act filings related to onetime Trump campaign adviser Carter Page.”

Looks like Mueller isn’t the only only fixer assigned to this case. You don’t drain the swamp by putting swamp creatures in charge of the drainage operation.

  12. I often wonder, are people hopeless optimists, to the point of delusion, just plain stupid, or partners in the crimes committed by their favorite Psychopaths In Charge? Whatever the source, they just can’t seem to get it through their thick skulls that there is no such thing as good government, there never has been, and there never will be. The only sane course is to keep it as small as possible, which would be the governing of one’s self. The very concept of putting a gun to the head of one’s neighbor and forcing them to do or not do anything, unless they have harmed or threatened to harm another, is insane.

  13. 2 out of 3 Americans are just as guilty of collusion in this state of affairs due to a combination of insanity, stupidity, or moral and intellectual corruption. “Assigning blame’ is a natural proclivity of our human nature, as is a desire for revenge. But in ‘civilized’ (rather than tribal) societies such natural urges seldom lead to anything beneficial, and often lead to great evil, (as when the sewers of Paris ran red, and baskets of heads were dumped into pits).

Blaming those who have been duped is just not a good approach to the problem. It’s people’s own fault, you say, for not being more sophisticated, for being easy ‘marks’? You want to take your eyes off those perpetrating ‘the scam’ and start blaming those who have been scammed?

All the classic ‘scams’ work so well because they take advantage of the primary foibles of our human nature.

Folks is jes’ folks. Human nature is what it is. But we can’t get rid of all the humans and start a new species. That option simply doesn’t exist for us. That may, in fact, happen, but obviously it won’t be for us. We are trapped. We’re humans.

Humans are irrational creatures. We are ruled by our Desire. Indeed, it is “a combination of insanity, stupidity, or moral and intellectual corruption”, exactly as you say. That is our human condition.

Both good and evil exist in EVERY human heart. In our current predicament, evil is rampaging loose in most people’s hearts. As Ms. Johnstone recently entreated, our first task is to face, and find a way to restrain, the evil in our OWN hearts, and to begin to nurture ‘the good’.

Sowing blame implies a desire to reap revenge. That is ‘natural’, but it is just not ‘the ticket’ out of our predicament.

It would not matter where or when in History we found ourselves. The ‘struggle’ to be ‘civilized’ remains the same. We are the same flawed creatures we have always been. Can we bring our primal animal nature under some form of cultural restraint? It’s primarily a ‘spiritual’ struggle. Can we find a way, collectively, to restrain the evil that exists in EVERY heart, and nurture the good?

What Ms. Johnstone recently pointed out is that EACH of us must start by restraining the evil, and nurturing the good, in our OWN heart.

‘Blame and revenge’ work in primal tribal human cultures. How can it possibly work in ours?

Blaming ‘the folks’ for being ‘folks’ is just not a good approach, It only creates more divisiveness.

  14. Lot of interesting stuff here, but Trump’s own DOJ sent Mueller down this path, not Democrats and not the previous administration. Let’s see if the SCOTUS will permit the Trump.org financials to be unsealed.

    1. Your comment makes no sense. It’s almost as if you didn’t read the article. So, when will Dick Cheney’s financials be unsealed? Since he was so obviously in violation of the Emoluments Clause, I am sure the swamp will bring him to justice soon!

      1. Let me explain it for you. The article paints Russiagate as a left wing conspiracy. The Mueller investigation was started by Rosenstein, in the DOJ. Not Democrats. Not the DNC. Nobody has seen the unredacted version of the Mueller report. So I am disagreeing with parts of the article. Or is that not permitted here?

        1. Let me explain it for you! The Democrats are in no way, shape or form “left wing” and it makes no difference who started the investigation. It was intended as a way for the deep state to send a clear message that its dictates are to be followed. It also succeeded in reviving the Cold War red-baiting that continues to daze and confuse our population.

  15. Rings so true, this post. But it would also seem to imply that only a full-fledged revolution would be a possible solution. Unfortunately the pain screws will have to be tightened a lot further before the consumer society lifts their heads from their smart phones and thinks about actually doing anything about it – and even then it is no sure thing…

    1. R Zwarich ('Caliban') Avatar
      R Zwarich (‘Caliban’)

‘Revolution’ is very likely the ONLY solution, but revolution cannot be depended on to save us. When people seize power, what comes next depends entirely on the Spirit that animates the revolutionaries. Revolutions result in worse, much more often than they result in better.

What will the necessary ‘revolution’ look like? What will be its ‘strategy’? On what ‘fields’ will its battles be fought? What Spirit will animate the revolutionaries?

Will it be the Spirit of a Gandhi, or a Mandela? A prophet? A Dr. King? A Jesus? A Mohammed? Or a Lenin, and his step-child Stalin?

Left wing fascism can be more terrible than fascism from the Right, because people on the Left are prone to self-righteousness. If the choice is between self-aware evil and self-righteous evil, the former will be the less fearsome foe. The evil that knows it is evil is less challenging to face against than self-righteous evil that has fully embraced the delusion that it is good.

Many revolutions have resulted in people in power who kill millions of people for “the people’s own good”. They are self-righteous murderers. Examples abound.

Raw self-righteous HATRED is currently rampaging unrestrained on the American Left. It is WAY off ‘the deep end’. It is well into ‘crazy’.

Self-righteousness itself is an evil spirit. Self-righteous hatred is even more evil. Woe to us if the dingbat crazy American Left should ever acquire power. It is SO crazy, however, that it is completely incompetent politically, so I don’t think we really have to worry about the American Left, in its current ‘marionette’ form, winning power.

There currently exists no ‘revolution’ in America. There is no trace even of ‘revolutionary’ consciousness. The dance of power between the two poles that Ms. Johnstone describes here, (between the two heads of the same beast, each squabbling with the other to devour the next bloody mouthful of meat, into one gullet, both mouths feeding the SAME belly), is being very skillfully orchestrated. And our Enemy, operating in plain sight, never shows its face.

This Enemy has cunningly bamboozled the American Left into supporting the Enemy’s own agenda. The Marionette Left is dancing on the ends of its own Enemy’s strings. The insane divisiveness of the Marionette Left’s Identity Politics is ‘custom made’ to support the Enemy’s basic (age-old) “divide and rule” strategy for The Few to maintain Elite control over The Many.

The American Left has taken the bait. It has failed to “identify the enemy”. It thinks Trump is THE Enemy. He’s NOT. He’s only AN enemy. The Marionette Left has again been duped into thinking one head of the two-headed beast is THE Enemy.

Joe Biden is as corrupt and morally depraved a politician as has ever come down the pike. He’s not very smart, though, (and he’s also in the early stages of dementia). If he should win, (I personally don’t think he can, but only fools try to predict the future), he will be an easily malleable ‘figurehead’ propped up in the White House, for the Enemy, the Elites, to use to do their bidding, however they please.

Even AOC is now fully on board the Biden ‘team’. She has an ‘official position’. This is classic co-optation. We talked about this at length in the 60s, but the Left is still so stupid that it still works every bit as well, (maybe better) as it ever has. She’s agreed to co-chair Biden’s ‘Climate Change Committee’, where she’ll presumably help forge, and then endorse, the lies Biden will tell to pretend he’s going to challenge the Elites, on behalf of The People, if The People will just vote for him.

AOC has now agreeably fashioned herself into just another ‘marionette’, dancing jerkily on the ends of her own Enemy’s strings.

There is no ‘revolution’ in America. We are between the proverbial ‘rock and a hard place. Our cunning Enemy has gained full control of the dingbat crazy, (I mean SERIOUSLY crazy), American Marionette Left. The rock is Trump. The hard place is the Marionette Left.

“You say you want a revolution? Well, you know, we’d all love to see the plan”. If we want a revolution, it will be up to us to build it. No revolution, nor ANY revolutionary consciousness, currently exists, and most of ALL, not in America.

What would the ‘revolution’ we want to imagine look like? What Spirit will animate it?

      1. WOW!!! You really hate the left! Have you ever thought of working for the MSM or Deep State? How about some billionaire’s think tank?

    2. There is already enough pain, but there are no stories, no visions worth rallying around or dying for. Outside of the top 10-20% in America (though this likely holds true elsewhere), it’s been pain for a long time—hence all the deaths from despair.

But that 10-20% are the ones who write all the news, all the movies, all the TV—they create the culture, the `reality.’ They hide the door.

So I am writing with one end in mind: to help open a door for readers and encourage them to step through. A consensus that we might term the Great Western Narrative has been constructed not to inform and enlighten but to conceal and deceive. It is not that I or others are cleverer than everyone else. We have simply had a chance—an earlier one—to step through that door ourselves, because of a jarring life experience that the Great Western Narrative could not explain, or because someone held the door open for us, or more usually because of a combination of the two.

From the other side of the door, Russia’s Vladimir Putin or Bashar al- Assad look as irrational, or rational, and as criminal as George W. Bush, Tony Blair, Barack Obama, or Donald Trump. In fact, they look less criminal—not because they are better humans than their Western counterparts, but
simply because they enjoy less power and face more constraints in trying to impose their will. The issue is not about who is better. They are the same as humans. It is about who has more force at their disposal—and more will to use it—to perpetuate their power.

You deal with their `impenetrable’ wall of narrative and the revolution is well on it’s way. But we assure you it is not impenetrable, it is like the Maginot Line of WWII fame. With the proper tactics and preparation, their impressive fortifications are utterly useless.

Talk can be cheap, but the notion that it is generically cheap is an exercise inn useless hopeless nihilism.

Humanity, bloodily stumbling through History as we have, has actually managed to accumulate a legacy of actual ‘wisdom’. The accumulation of Human Wisdom is no more than a bunch of ‘talk’, but it is far from ‘cheap’. It has been won from the lessons taught by 10,000 years of Human Tragedy. A VERY high price has been paid.

Talk must precede action, else action be stupid and only leads to worse.

“Punch through the propaganda”. That’s indeed what we must do. How? What ‘action’ will comprise our ‘punch’?

It is a ‘communications’ problem. (The means of communication are the means of power). Which message is THE message that can comprise our ‘punch’? Which message will have the innate power to punch through?

We must have a message before it will do us any good to acquire the means to communicate.

Once we have the ‘right’ message, only THEN will it even be relevant to acquire the means to communicate.

Talk must precede action. The wrong action can be much worse than no action at ALL.

  18. The details of this infighting are not new. Since the 2016 election results became apparent, it was known that the ‘previous administration’ was setting up entrenched opposition to any systemic changes and was mounting an apparent attempt to overturn the results of the election. Brown Sugar himself even got on national television and said as much himself, after which he and his supporters and financiers proceeded to set up a base of operations/command center in DC itself from which to coordinate the reversal of the election results, and the reassumption of power in the whitehouse. This plan failed, after which he (and his little friends) went on a ‘fund raising tour’ across what remained of the Britjsh Empire. When that did not ‘pan out’ due mostly to a serious lack of support from the US military, he ran to Buckingham for protection, and blessing for a coup. He recieved protection, but no blessing, as Captain Spaceballs was deemed ‘manageable’. Blah blah blah, pretend to fight with each other, blah blah blah, Q, blah blah, Barr, blah blah, etc…
    Here we are again, still.
The sock puppet theater is getting old, and thin, more quickly and apparently by the day.
All of this ‘brand new Obamagate stuff’, was primed and proven right from the start. And then, all of a sudden, everything got put on the back burner, due to Spaceballs’s apparent ‘managability’, until the sock puppet theater ran its course…
Now, all of a sudden, it is ‘Refried Brown Sugar Bad Guy Show Time’, again…

As things get worse, they actually get better, from the viewpoint of a ‘revolutionary’. You can’t enjoy an omelet until some eggs are broken.

This is why the entire LOTE (lesser of two evils) strategy, is so stupid. The American Marionette Left’s full embrace of LOTE, (for decades now), is what has only paved the way for the rise of the evil Clintonista Ruse.

Clinton and Obama empowered our Enemy, the Elites, in more basic and crucial ways that Bush or Trump.

It was Clinton who cunningly empowered the Elites by allowing a handful of people to control ALL Mass Media, (The crucial Telecommunications Act of 1996), and also empowered them, through NAFTA, to import as many as 50 million poor and destitute people as ‘excess labor’. They had already exported most of the jobs they could. The importation of this massive quantity of destitute foreign labor was the final ‘straw’ that completely broke the back of American Labor.

Obama solidified the socialization of “too big to fail” Finance Capital. It’s pure ‘socialism’ for the overtly criminal Pirate Banksters. His FIRST act in office was to hand the keys to the henhouse to the most vicious foxes.

The precedent was established. Trump was just a copy-cat when he recently handed the Pirate Banksters almost $5 TRILLION dollars. Just gave it to ’em. “Here guys, Here’s some free money to play with. Don’t worry about paying it back. We’ll stick the rubes, the taxpayers, with the bill”. It was Obama that set the precedent.

Identity Politics is the crucial foundation of the Clintonista Ruse. The first black president.
Then they tried the first woman president, but lost. (And woman reliably turned out, by the millions, in their pussy hat parade, mourning the defeat of their heroine, who just happened to be a morally depraved monster warb monger who had turned the most prosperous nation in Africa into a lawless Mad Max dystopia, had giggled like a school girl, on national TV, over her contracted murder of a sitting head of state, who was advocating war against Russia, and was the co-head of a giant overt ‘charity scam’ that had enriched her and her evil husband.

They tried the ‘first woman’ ruse again this time, but couldn’t find a suitable figurehead. (They offered it to Warren, if she would make certain compromises, like backtracking on Medicare for All, but she refused). They’ll try the first woman ruse again next-time.

They also trotted out the ‘first gay’ this time, but quickly realized it was a turkey that was nowhere near ready to fly.

As things get worse, they get better, (if the objective is to raise people’s consciousness). If the Elites could find the capacity to restrain their Greed, they could maintain power indefinitely. But thus far, they are FAR too morally depraved to even think of that.

We are already well into neo-Feudalism, and it’s just going to keep accelerating in the rate at which it gets worse. As the people are relegated ever deeper into indentured serfdom, as our children’s lives become ever more hopeless, people will THEN become more receptive to ‘revolutionary consciousness’.

From the perspective of a revolutionary, things get better as they get worse.

      1. Almost too much truth to handle at one time. But while I think you’re on the money about the past, I’m not sure that you see the unprecedented evolutionary/revolutionary gifted to us by this global pandemic in conjunction with the responses to it, both by governments and their corporate masters AND by people in general. If you’ve got the time and inclination (and haven’t already read it), here’s a rather long-winded essay which manages to touch upon a good bit of this unprecedented opening. Whether we will take it is another question.

  22. We are right and truly fucked as a country. You can’t drain the swamp as we are “the swamp” – from shore to shining shore.

You see, we really don’t want “democracy” and we never did. We loved “democracy“ when we were all “white, straight, Christian, with the men in charge. Everyone else was here at our sufferance and as long as nobody got “uppity” all was good.

Then, starting sometime around 1965 or so, all the other folks here, including white women, said “ wait a minute we live here too and deserve a voice”! And the “shit hit the fan”.

The outgrowth of this was the “tea party” movement that basically said NFW. We own this country and we’re going to make sure that “you liberals and other riff-raff aren’t going to take it away from us.

No more compromises. We are going to gang up and only elect people (white males mostly) who will not compromise. As long as we can block changes we don’t care if nothing gets done.

We don’t care if we get the short end of the stick. The (conservative) rich are the successful people and they know what this country needs. Oh and if you’re poor it’s all your fault. Just work harder – stop blaming others just get off your lazy ass.
Jeff Bezos is worth 150B. NOBODY gets anywhere near this wealthy legally or ethically. But oh God don’t ever bring that up too loudly that’s unAmerican, unpatriotic as capitalism is King. It is the best way. It’s what God wants.

We know who the “true Americans” are and it ain’t you. Especially if you are a Democrat(satanic baby killers), black, brown, non-Christian, LGBTQ, or a non-European immigrant. You are all evil people trying to keep this country from being “right with God”. That’s why He keeps punishing us. That’s why we need to MAGA. Go back to 1955.

Please don’t misunderstand. The democrats/liberals/progressives have the same problem from the other direction. No compromise!! Right back at ya. MAG by unfettered progress- what ever that means. But don’t screw with the system as that will mess with the money.

At a time when we really need to understand what’s going on “ignorance is king”. We’ve had bad leadership (at all levels) for so long we don’t even know what good leadership looks like. If a competent leader does come along or if we try and reference a good/great leader from the past we discount them if they’re not perfect. We’re consistent in crucifying any leader we don’t want to hear. Any leader who won’t tell us what we want to hear. Which is pretty much “we’re perfect y’all need to change” or it’s not our fault … blame, blame, blame. Who gives a shit.

This pandemic isn’t going to change anything. Get back to work…more people will die but we can’t wait. We will sacrifice people for the economy but that’s nothing new. It just become much more obvious now.

But, please, just how do you think this will ever change? It’s been this way for 100’s of years. The system will keep us as each other’s throats as this way they can control us. There . Is . No . Way . To . Fight . This . And . Stay . Sane.

So I say “fuck it”. I’m just going to not worry about it. I’ll help those I can help in this world, in what way I can and just enjoy life.

Let the little people play their God games, Worry about their “after life” at the expense of this life. I’ll let you rant about it all – I sort of perversely enjoy reading it – and all the comments from people, like me, who can do nothing to change anything. They waste what precious time they have shouting into the void vs doing something constructive.

So why don’t we all just get off social media and get our lives back.

Good God, thank you Jesus! I have been saying from the very beginning of all this (aided by your amazingly relevant and timely analysis and commentary) to tell people, especially the Qanon cult, that “. . . the swamp takes care of its own.” You literally took the words out of my mouth. And, as you say (brilliantly) ” . . . you can’t use the swamp to drain the swamp.” Regrettably, this reality seems to leave us Americans in the unenviable position that we’ve inherited and inhabited for decades now, as individuals, with the vanishing realization that we, as individuals, are almost powerless to effect change, and that we will live with our current reality until we die. Nonetheless, while we may be living without hope, we can at least rely on you to cut through the BS and help us, and others, to understand the workings of the machine that will eventually turn us all into real, instead of virtual, slaves. Yes, I’m a pessimist by nature, but pessimists are rarely disappointed.

Aaron purports Biden as the lessor of two evils. I reckon Trump is as even though all this is true what you say Caitlin there’s still a turf war going on in the Whitehouse and it clearly is impeding agendas.

  32. Well, you finally wrote something I have to take issue with: “You will never see Obama or his administration officials brought down by “Obamagate” for the same reason Trump wasn’t brought down by the Mueller investigation: the swamp protects its own.”

As you and a handful of other brave journalists have repeatedly pointed out, the reason Trump wasn’t brought down by the Mueller investigation was that, in the words of Peter Strozk (who should know!) “there was no ‘there’ there.” The allegations were totally fabricated, but, yes, they were meant to distract from what he has done/is still doing, which he will not be prosecuted for, because, yes, the swamp protects its own, and, for all his posing, the Donald is a swamp critter.

A small glitch in an otherwise insightful and eloquent account. Thanks for doing what you do!

  33. And the really sad part of all of this is how much taxpayer money has been wasted paying for this crap and paying for the salaries of the crappers.

        The Reflex of Obedience:
Anxiety is a widespread phenomenon that often accompanies people from the earliest days of childhood until old age. It is part of life and has many causes. When unscrupulous despots – whether medieval popes, modern dictators or so-called philanthropists – stir up this everyday fear from outside, they are concerned with satisfying their own greed for power and subjugating the peoples. In doing so they are “doing the work of the devil”.
Most people react to this diabolical “game” of the rulers with a reflex of obedience or even with unconditional submission.
